LUNCH COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER =================================== We stopped at this Denny's that is connected to a Flying J on Interstate 40 for lunch. After searching reviews for about an hour while my husband drove I felt this would be a safe option. I think we arrived around 11:30 a.m. and it took at least an hour to get our food. There weren't that many people in the restaurant, but it still took a long time. I ordered a club sandwich and I had to take most of the mystery meat out of it other than the bacon. The cold cuts looked weird and translucent. We probably would have been better off scrounging for something to eat at the Flying J. read more

I ordered the Grand Slam Burrito, and once again the hash browns were not completely cooked. This isn't the first time I've had this issue -- it seems to be a recurring problem at many Denny's locations. The hash browns come out soft and undercooked instead of golden and crispy like they should be. Denny's corporate and franchise owners really need to remind their cooks that hash browns should be cooked all the way through, with that crisp texture customers expect. It's a small detail, but it makes a big difference in the meal experience. read more

Considering the last Dennys we ate at was horrible, this one was AMAZING! Thanksgiving dinner! So so so good!!!!!!

My husband and I are traveling from Texas back home to AZ and decided to stop at Denny's in Tucumcari, NM. Our server named Peter (I think he goes by the name Pete) was absolutely awesome. He was on top of things and is one of our top 5 servers if all time. I don't know how Denny's was able to find this gem of a guy but well done! He was very polite, and his vibe was professional. It took over five minutes just to be acknowledged and seated. When the server finally noticed us, they simply said, "I'll be right with you," and then went back to helping others. At no point did we feel welcomed. Considering this restaurant is in an area where many travelers stop by, I would have expected a warmer and more attentive experience. read more

Food was poorly prepared, hash browns came out mostly raw, chicken fried steak was warm but the gravy was cold. By the time cooked hash browns appeared everything else was cold on the plate. When paying the bill I tried to offer some constructive criticism to the woman we were paying. Good Morning. have been in Tucumcari for 40 years. watched a whole bunch of waiter and waitress's come thru. today we were served by a waiter named Cody. you guys hit the jackpot with this young man. he was/is a stellar waiter. were hoping you as a corporate understand the value of good service this young man provides for the Denny's here in Tucumcari. believe me you have had some crappy servers quite consistently in the past years. please consider realizing and appreciate this kind of incredible service is a plus to a Denny's that has been in such a bad light in the past. I was looking forward to a light meal. That's exactly what I got with top of the line service. It's rare animal to get good food out here anymore. It used to be that you could stop at any time day or night and get a regular meal. That's gone except for a few instances like gere at the Flying J with Denny's. Now these truck stops if that's what you can call them are only interested in collecting your money. They don't give a shit about the driver's. I have been traveling interstate 40 for years. I would always plan my stops for Tucumcari. Many times Elvira was my server. She was always polite and friendly. I hope to have her as a server many more times. I don't get this standard of service from other servers. The food is always good. read more

I'm a little late in leaving this review by a year and a half but I still think it needs to be acknowledged. This was the last place I was able to take my mom. She wanted pancakes and to get out of house so we went to Dennys. My mom's illness was Alzheimer's and dementia and if anyone reading this has had a partner with it then I'm sure they can relate. We got there and were seated right away. I already knew it would be a minute due to being under staffed. It did take a while but not an unreasonable amount of time. They waitress was so kind to my mom. I felt like even though she had so much to do, she gave my mom all the attention she could. My mom loved the food and ate almost everything. I personally think the food is good as well. When we were done and I was standing at the register paying my mom wandered almost in to the kitchen. The waitress and kitchen staff were so gracious. They told her if she went back there they'd put her to work. That seemed to make her day cause she very happily said "YES" They just as easily could have done the "mama! Ma'am!" Thing to her but they didn't. Thank you to the staff who took the time to be kind to my mom. It was everything to me at that time. Thank you again. There is gonna be a wait due to staffing but the food is good quality and I totally recommend it. read more

Denny's was a short walk from our hotel so we decided to stretch our legs and give it a try. The restaurant is attached to a convenience mart and gift shop. If you have little ones that might be a distraction. We were quickly seated in an almost deserted dining room. Two other tables had patrons. I ordered a patty melt with onion rings. Our server was efficient, kept our glasses filled and checked in on us during our meal. Our food arrived quickly and we consumed it just as quickly--we were hungry! The food was nothing special. It wasn't bad but it didn't stand out either. It was just Ok. We paid our bill, tipped the waitress and were on our way back to the hotel. No complaints..... we filled up and moved on much like the convenience mart crowd. read more

Who knew Denny's could be so good? Our server was great, even tho she was slammed with tables. My mom had the bourbon steak and veggies, which she really enjoyed. Slow service don't go there until the morning shift arrives at 7am. Funny how Restaurant's that a have a CEO they always say "We can't get any help, nobody wants to work!!" Servers and others are friendly and the food is good. Service is much faster than it was in the past. I'm happy with this Denny's when it come to dining in. However, their order pick-up option needs to be fixed. I've placed multiple orders for pickup and not once have they gotten it 100% correct. What they almost always do is leave something out.
