My wife and I wanted to have a brunch in a Sunday's morning. It was hard to find a suitable restaurant that was spacious because we have a baby stroller where my son sat in. After having walked around downtown for long time, I suddenly noticed there's a Denny's on close to Canadian Tire on Dundas and Bay. I found the space was enough and it already passed 13:00 so it wasn't crowd at all so I decided to give it a try. Ok. I admit that I was ignorant. I didn't know or hear Denny's before, lol. Even if I've already lived in Toronto for 2 years. I now know it's an American big restaurant chain. We pass by it very often on the Dundas street but we never pay attention to it. The first thing I notice was the servers were very frienly and tried to have small talk with us. They gave us a long time to think since I told them it was our first time being there. The options are abundant. It has all kinds of food from breakfast to night snacks since it's a 24h restaurant. I ordered an omlette and my wife ordered a pancake. It's worth to mention that their hash brown is pretty special. It is made with grrated potatoes and then fried. I would not say they were the best food I've ever had, but it's acceptable with that price and location. Plus, the drink can be refilled as much as you want. A group of friends can chat there for long time. Generally, I recommend this restaurant, especially for new comers who haven't experience American style breakfast. read more

Located at the corner of the Eaton centre, this Denny's is open 24 hrs and there for you anytime you need a greasy fry up with all those essential carbs. I went at around 9am on a Tuesday morning and whilst there wasn't many people at all, service was quite slow and it took around 20 minutes for someone to come and take my order. My order was prepared fast though, however it would be nice if there were some more vegetarian options as I would've loved a veggie sausage In my grand slam! Eggs are perfect and runny, pancakes are fluffy and warm doused with butter and the hash browns are nice and crispy. There's plenty of syrup and condiments on the table for you and it fulfills that American diner experience. Whenever you'd like! Generally average, especially as there's so many other great breakfast places in the area catering to all palates. What I love most about this place is the comfy vibe and the consistent friendly service- every time I visit, I feel like I'm coming over to my neighbor's home to have a good meal. After, our friendly server came to greet us and introduced himself as Khan. To start, he gave us the menu and took note of what drink we wanted (a glass of cold water and a glass of room-temperature water). Since the menu had so many tasty items, it was difficult to pick! For lunch, I ordered Salsa Sensation Benny with hash browns on the side. My boyfriend chose Southwestern Benny with hash browns on the side. Also, we ordered an Oreo milkshake to share. We enjoyed our meal- my benny was yummy, it was lightly tangy (due to the salsa). My boyfriend said that he enjoyed the blend of salty, spicy, and creamy flavours. Also, the Oreo milkshake was delicious- I enjoyed the sweetness of Oreo cookies mixed with the smoothness of vanilla ice cream. During our meal, Khan (our waiter) came to check-in on us a few times to make sure that we had everything that we needed. Came here for the first time to try out the famous Denny's. Had a grand slam. The best part was the egg, which was simply poached. Everything is slightly off, it's hard to describe. The hashbrown was dry and floury in the middle, the toast was sour dough and just tasted like plain white bread. The sausage was small and the bacon was paper thin. The pancake was fluffy but with a very artificial corn syrup sweetness. Considering how many delicious restaurants there are in the area, it's hard to compete. We went to the bay and Dundas location this morning, and the service was nothing short of excellent! Our server was BEN, and he was so attentive, positive, and got our order right, the food came quickly, and the coffee was STRONG! But very enjoyable, I would actually come here just for the coffee, it really is deep and flavourful. I built my own grand slam, with rye toast (not very toasted) slathered with margarine, not my fav, I wish I knew so I could have asked for plan double toasted rye... they only have strawberry jam at this location, so I used that with my rye bread. I ordered over easy eggs and was quite pleased that the kitchen was able to give them to me nice and runny with the whites cooked through.. just as I ordered them. The hash browns could have been a little more crunchy... there was quite a bit of soft potato, but I guess some like it like that, the flavour in the hash was great though. I ate these three items, but I wasn't able to make it to my pancakes, it was too much food for one person... definitely shareable. The grand slam allows you to pick 4 items for $12.79, which is an amazing deal! The pancakes were a premium at $1.79. I think this was a good meal, with great service. It's located downtown so it can be packed sometimes. This location is a tiny bit small for a Denny's but it's pretty comfortable. The staff was polite and friendly at all times. My waitress was such a sweet girl. The service was nice. I went for brunch so I asked for the Cinnamon Roll Pancake Slam. I had it on my table pretty fast. I had the fruit salad instead of hash browns. It was a standard breakfast. It was good and simple. The pancakes were good and tasteful. I really liked them. Definitely coming back. read more

Whatever the occasion the food just hits the spot. Not wanting to overindulge on this day, I decided to go with the Chorizo Benedict which comes with a side of potatoes. The verdict is that it was not bad. They overdid it with the hollandaise sauce on one of the English muffins as it was very soggy and the thing just kind of fell apart when I put my fork into it. The other side was fine and the taste was not bad though there was not as much run in the egg as I had hoped. It was very busy at the restaurant when we were there but the service was not bad overall. We were seated fairly promptly and the food did not take long to arrive. The restaurant was not uncomfortable to be in though due to the high traffic it was fairly noisy. This latest experience at Denny's is on par with my previous visits. I do not recall a time where I was disappointed with a visit to Denny's. If it is comfort food you are looking for then this may be the place for you. read more

So I have not been to Denny's for at least a decade. I was biking downtown and realize that there was a Denny's down here. So I had to try it.  The Denny's in question is on Dundas Street pretty much in the heart of Toronto. My server's name was Ben and he was just an absolute superstar. I decided to have the Lumberjack Slam which consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage links, toast and I had fruit instead of a hash browns and two fluffy pancakes. The pancakes were utterly perfect fluffy on the inside and had a bit of a crunch on the outside they put enough butter on it for both pancakes and the fruit... Well it was a fruit salad. The eggs were over medium and they were just the way I like them. I had totally forgotten on the portion size and couldn't finish the whole meal but overall not bad for Denny's. How can you go wrong with Denny's?! Denny's is a classic brunch chain. I came here with some friends on a Sunday morning and ordered a build your own breakfast. For around $12 you can pick four items to be in your own breakfast plate! I ordered sunny side up eggs, whole wheat toast, turkey bacon, and hashbrowns. Server was really nice and service was also relatively quick. The only complaint I have is the condition of their bathrooms. Lucky for us, we didn't have to wait. The place is nice and cosy for the most part. It's looking a little tired and I'm okay with that. I feel like the service has gone down over the years. I came on Saturday 28th around 2-3 am and my friend wanted to order the grilled haddock from the senior menu. *NOTE: we have done this multiple times with different servers and there's never been an issue*. I've been going to this Denny's for over 4 years that some waiters even recognize me by now and vice versa, but I've never met this guy before. Anyways, upon attempting to order the guy told us he can't sell us that because it's only for seniors who are 55+. When we told him that we've always been able to order it he said whoever sold it to us was wrong, but mind you that multiple servers had allowed us to order from the senior side. There isn't a problem with having certain policies but when it's inconsistent, it affects the customers. Had it been like this the entire time, we would not have been so upset but the guy made it seem like selling items on the senior menu to not seniors was something they have never done. The guy also seemed to have got the table next to us' order wrong as we overheard them complaining as well. I'm not sure if he's new or not, but his attitude and customer service should definitely change. We were never once checked on after ordering and had to wave him down to get the bill. Even getting just the appetizers were filling enough. My most to least favourite: Nachos (Pepper Jack queso, shredded Cheddar Cheese, Meat, Pico de Gallo, and Sour Cream) ~$11 - more of a warm treat and all the flavours blended nicely together; it didn't have any specific tangy or zesty taste (from tomatoes or lime) to which I do prefer with my nachos. Chicken Strips (served with Celery & Sweet & Tangy BBQ sauce) - a standard craving fulfilled. Wish there was more though! Cheese & Sausage Quesadillas (Grilled Chicken Breast, Crumbled Sausage, Fire-Roasted Bell Peppers and Onions, Cheese, Pico de Gallo Tortilla & Ranch Dressing) ~$8 - It's nice if you're into a lot of flavour, but it was extremely heavy and filling. It's worth it considering the price I'm paying for. A lot of them did have a similar base to it so I felt like I was eating different versions of the same flavours. The ingredients were mostly well proportioned - there was slightly more potatoes compared to the other ingredients. It was a little too salty, though taste wasn't bad. My friend orders an avocado chicken Caesar salad and the first thought that came to my mind was "that's a sad looking salad". The Caesar salad came with mushy avocados and lukewarm chicken basically thrown across the salad (as opposed to nicely sliced and plated). The salad didn't even have crotons. The salad dressing was very heavy and there was a lot of it. The salad kind of dopped and sagged on the plate. Presentation 0/10. Portions at this place is fair, slightly on the smaller side. I'd argue you'd walk away from your meal at least "not hungry" anymore. Interior is diner style, as it is to be expected. The saute onions and bell peppers made the meal fresh and not sickening. The fries were amazing and tasted like no other. They super crispy and had the perfect texture to it. My meal came with toast on the side, however, I waited patiently for 20 minutes and my toast still did not come. I told the waitress and when she finally gave me my toast, it was completely burnt!
