I love Denny's, milkshakes and breakfast for dinner is our go to. It's gotten pretty expensive though but the staff is always nice and they re pretty accurate with our orders. The only thing is they don't keep the food warm Uber heat lamps before we pick up to go ordered, so our eggs and hash brown and pancakes are always cold. Still love that they're open 24 hours though and so the night owls can eat at 3:00am ! read more

This Denny's had dirty tables that were half clean. The restrooms had sticky floors and no hand soap in both restrooms men's and womans. The good thing is my wife had hand sanitizer. The philly omelet was plain with no flavor what so ever had to add salt and Tabasco sauce and that barely helped. The place had hardly any people in here and the service from the server sucked, he was not attentive at all! They need to fire management! Stay away go to another Denny's instead. read more

Welcomed in right away! Served drinks immediately. Meal was served promptly, sizzling hot. Giant green salad with homemade ranch dressing was great, but the lettuce could have been fresher. I stumbled upon this Denny's as I was coming back home after a weekend in San Diego. The restaurant was clean and the employees were friendly, but the steak and pieces of fried shrimp I had weren't even edible. I know this is Denny's and I do not expect to get the best food in Southern California, but the chef went to far. Didn't he noticed how bad the food was? On the other side my friend did like his burger. Maybe his burger was better than my steak. Or maybe he can't tell the difference between ok food and Denny's food. I have never felt cheated by a Denny's before today. I had server Flavio Figueroa "Frank". I ordered the $4.49 Value Slam and a $3.19 Orange Juice. I am vegetarian, and I requested that instead of the eggs and the bacon/sausage that he replace those 2 items with just 1 hashbrown and that would he fine. He told me that he could not and that he would need to charge me $8.99 for this and that they don't make substitutions for vegetarians in a very condescending manner. A little frustrated, I asked to speak with a manager to see if they could make a minor accommodation as it didn't make sense. He instantly changed his attitude and said "no problem, no big deal, I'll take care of you. I understand". He promptly brought my hashbrown and pancakes as per our discussion. When I finished my food, he gave me a bill as if we never had this conversation, charging me the entire amount as if I had ordered the hash brown a la carte ($3.49). Shocked, I ask him to revise the bill. He responded, "You ate it.. You have to pay for it!!!!", as if he had gotten away with a sheepish con. I immediately went to the manager and told them this is ridiculous and what surprised me is that the manager wouldn't even let me explain the situation. I said "look, I'll pay what I agreed to, but nothing more." When I pulled out a $20, Eva Bergensen, the manager, grabbed it and gave me change based on their incorrect bill, refusing to return my money. Frustrated, I threatened to call management and the police. They asked me to leave and I did.. frustrated with the cheating that I witnessed. Ridiculous. They are way too expensive. They no longer have a value menu and they charge $4 bucks now for a cup of coffee. I don't see how families can blow their budgets eating here on a weekend. My only option was the value slam which came out to $20 bucks. I hope Dennys has not ended all value items for the foreseeable future. Other then that, it was clean and my server was awesome. I was given a dirty glass with food and paper stuck to it, the bathrooms are ALWAYS dirty and smell atrocious, the food takes a long time to come out, and the windows and window shades are filthy. Do not eat here. Order was wrong, my crepe was cold. The salt had something in it, like it literally had something in it. The salt shaker inside was pink and it was slimy, it was like somebody dumped soap or something in the salt shaker. The staff was nice enough, but that doesn't correct the awful food. read more

I recommend you not to come here. You can tell how short staffed they are. My friend and I went in last night. We ordered our food and drinks and a few minutes later we were told to leave because the cooks got overwhelmed with so many tickets/ orders they ended up leaving so they had to close the restaurant. Not much of a big corporate chain person, but I do like this Denny's. It's conveniently located off the 5, standard food fare, but they've always been accommodating when I simply drop by for a bathroom break, and friendly enough when I order late night food after Disneyland or some place further up as I return to San Diego. Ordered online. After driving and waiting to pick up food, found out there was no spaghetti (which I ordered and online said it was ready). No refund because it was ordered online and I would have to call "corporate" for a refund. No choice but to order something didn't really want. Not only was the spaghetti not available, the food that was ready is getting cold because the food I was forced to order needed to be cooked. I had a really good experience here last night (or should I say this morning?) I had gone up to Hollywood to go clubbing with my girlfriends for Halloween, and decided to head back down to San Diego the same night (don't ask why). I had to use the restroom pretty badly, so we stopped at Denny's (conveniently located right off the freeway). I dash in (someone was even standing at the door to open it for us!), and we're immediately seated (of course, it's 2 AM). The waiters are SO nice. I was in the bathroom for two minutes, and waters and menus were already down by the time I got out. Everybody had genuine smiles on their faces, despite the fact that there was a steady stream of drunk Halloween party-goers stumbling in and out of the restaurant. I couldn't help but notice how clean the restaurant was. We ordered a Grand Slam and the Los Lonely Boys burger- I love the unsalted fries!! The rest of the food was delicious, too. The parking lot is a little small, but so is the restaurant. I'll definitely be by this place again. Even though it's a chain, this restaurant definitely left a special "hole-in-the-wall" feeling. We pull out of the parking lot and get straight back on the freeway, heading back down towards La Jolla. The entire process only set us back 30 minutes. read more

Our server Guillermo was next level.. He was super quick with everything and the pancakes just felt fluffier. Not sure if they were or not but I just enjoyed them more due to his service. He was dealing with several other tables, one having a party of 8-9 people. He was consistent with our water and appropriately checked in on us. Best service I've had in a while. Host sat us in a booth next to the window. The window shades were filthy, full of dust.. My son ordered french toast and we found a long hair in it! So as im waiting for any waitress /waiter to pass by our area for the next 10 minutes, i gave up and just wanted our check. waitress took forever with our check. I've stopped here since my first memories. That big sign makes it obvious. I can't say I come more often now that I live 150 miles closer, but I see it more often. So what you see is what you get. This is the new Denny's. Everything is worn out, the help is friendly but not like 20-30 years ago. The prices are higher as well, it isn't as affordable as it was even 15 years ago, but that is a testament to flat wages, not a complaint about Denny's. The food! The menu has evolved over the years but it is largely the same. You know what you can get and the quality of consistent with other Denny's. Like my hometown favorite, Carrow's, breakfast is available all day. I have a feeling this one is staying open until the lease is up. Or maybe they plan to remodel when the construction on the 5 is done. If they do stick around and remodel I'll reevaluate and hopefully they will get to 5 stars. read more

This establishment is the worst I have ever been to. Everyone is just chilling and talking to their family members and friends who are there having breakfast. Walked in to restaurant was obviously busy. Had 10-15 min wait for table had 2 counter spots open. I sat at counter spot and after 10 minutes had not been acknowledged.
