Santa Fe skillet burnt potatoes
N T.

Smells horrible when you first walk inn like dog piss. Flies flying around the restaurant so not sanitary. Ordered Santa Fe skillet and it came out burnt. I don't know how they feel comfortable with serving it looking the way it did. It was over seasoned I had to spit it out. They were out of a lot of things we originally wanted to order (apples, philly steak omelet, crayons for the kiddos to color kids meal menu). Pancakes was cold. The waitress was very nice and refilled our drinks.

Oily BLT breakfast

The interior is surprisingly large with a spacious dining room to the right, more seating near the bar, and even an outdoor space that had live music when we went. Spicy Beef Nachos Appetizer: Chips topped with queso, green onions, jalapeños, black olives, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream. My friend got this and I had a couple bites. Chips were not soggy and it was large enough to cover as his dinner. Green Chile Burger: Topped with monterey jack cheese and roasted chopped Chaves County-grown hot green chile. Served on a jalapeño bun with a side of our hot green chile sauce. Their signature burger and it tasted good. I don't need too much food but the amount of fries I got was too little even for me. Got two Johnny Walker Blacks with a splash of coke and they came well mixed and quickly. We did end up getting rained in and hilariously went back for a second dinner to wait out the rain. Black corn taquitos were OK, I would not get the fried shrimp basked again, the shrimp was too small and there was too much breading.

The hostess (whose name I forget) went out of her way to take special care of our huge group of 10 people who dropped in on her on a busy night. Our server Heather was a total rock star! Leaving work after a long day, I knew I wanted steak. I'm not from Roswell, so I had to rely on…read moreYelp and Google to tell me what was available. Now the other alternative was Texas Roadhouse. Don't get me wrong, I'm regionally from where Texas Roadhouse was founded and it's huge, especially where I'm from. But part of my philosophy when traveling is to try someplace new, traditionally NOT a chain. So I gave this a shot. Cattle Baron reminds me of those old school steakhouses in the 90s that served steaks and an AYCE salad bar. Except it's much nicer ambiance-wise with a broader menu. I ordered the largest ribeye steak they had with a loaded baked potato, unlimited salad bar, a Coca-Cola, and a brownie for dessert. The total for ALL that ended up being $48.35. That's really cheap considering I had to be rolled out on a stretcher (joking). The most expensive item was the steak, in the $30-range but an unlimited salad bar for $4.95 and dessert for $6.95 can't be beat. The salad bar had everything you'd want in a salad bar with fresh veggies and toppings along with two soups, premade salads, and a sampling of sweet items like jello and fruit. I got 2 plates from the bar and two small bowls of soup. The steak and potato soup was good but the chicken soup was a bit salty for my taste. My steak and loaded potato was good and hit the spot. The potato was kind of dry, assuming it was a potato, already cooked hours ago and they just pulled it out to serve to me. After smothering it in butter and sour cream, the dryness disappeared. The steak was cooked medium rare, so no issues there but there was very little seasoning. I added salt and pepper to it, which made it a lot better. I wish it had a little bit more searing/char to it. I ended the meal with a brownie and ice cream, with caramel drizzle. The brownie was fairly large and warm, with a nice scoop of ice cream and ample ribbons of caramel sauce. It was really delicious and not too overly sweet! It definitely put me over the food coma edge. Service was good, but slow. My waitress explained to me that it was slow because a table of 39 people showed up, so she apologized. It didn't bother me though because I was so tired from working nearly 12 hours that day. I'm glad I supported local and my meal was definitely worth the price.

I have mixed reviews regarding this establishment. Firstly, the server lacked in-depth knowledge…read moreabout wine, though they were familiar with the labels, which added an element of amusement. Secondly, the wine tasting options were limited solely to the bottles that were open, priced at 3 for $15, which was reasonable. However, for guests unfamiliar with the region, the presence of local vineyards may come as a surprise. I am aware that high desert areas can yield exceptional grapes, yet the experience did not adequately convey the origins, distinctions, or cultivation methods of the vineyard's grapes. As a winery, it is crucial to educate staff about the grape varieties offered and ensure they can address customer inquiries effectively. One staff member appeared annoyed by questions, while another was unable to provide answers but maintained a pleasant demeanor. Would I visit again to try the food? Sure, Being a chef it'll be interesting if they use the right pairing of the wines to enhance the food they serve. Menu looks amazing. But only can review the bar experience so far. **Reflections of a Traveling Chef: Expectations and Perceptions** In the world of culinary arts, especially when you're constantly on the move like a travel chef, managing expectations becomes a balancing act of its own. Our first interactions with new places and people often paint vivid pictures in our minds, for better or worse. I find myself guilty of overanalyzing initial encounters and reacting more strongly than perhaps warranted. This tendency was clear when I first dined at a restaurant where a server's attitude struck me as indifferent. At that moment, my expectations shifted into a montage of assumptions, casting a shadow over my experience. Yet, I realized later that perhaps, in my haste to judge, I had missed understanding the nuances that come with new environments and personalities--a lesson in perception that time and experience continue to teach. Returning to the same restaurant, I approached with a renewed perspective and sought to experience it anew, sans the baggage of past misjudgments. This time, the culinary offerings of beef Wellington bites and a green chili cream cheese appetizer opened my eyes to the finesse and creativity the establishment could offer. What stood out, however, was not just the food but the human element--Josh, who transformed an initially unpleasant experience into something unexpectedly delightful. Josh's efforts reminded me of the power a single individual holds in reshaping perceptions and the pivotal role attitude plays in hospitality. As I reflect, the lesson becomes clear: while our expectations can skew reality, our ability to embrace change and give second chances can lead to unexpectedly rewarding experiences.

They don't bother me at all, but we also had to shoo away them and especially flies which are sure annoying. I opted for a whole #9 turkey with black olives ($13). I am glad I did get chips, salad, or soup. It would have been too much for me. The avocado on my sandwich was a bit of a turnoff, having browned quite a bit. However, it was tasty. My oldest got a whole #12 BLT ($14). That thing had a ton of bacon strips which she didn't share. Lol. She at all of it. She had a cup of tomato basil soup which I thought was okay. Not my favorite. The lemon berry mascarpone cake ($7) was very delicious even though the cake part fell apart easily. Our waitress was friendly, but just a bit weird at times - like not handing me the receipt when I reached for it. She instead placed it further out in front of me. She just was in La La Land I guess. I would back for a lazy brunch with mimosas.

I even called the store at 8:45 and was told my food would be brought out. It wasn't. Another customer who arrived after me got their food first. Only then did a staff member ask if I was still waiting and finally brought my order. Turns out my food had been sitting under the heat lamp the entire time. The Dr Pepper Blackberry Shake had to be remade on the spot because it was no longer presentable (on the plus side, my wife loved the shake). Unfortunately, the rest was a mess: Cold burgers Terrible fries (I had to reheat them in my air fryer) One burger was supposed to have everything except mustard, but came completely plain A manager (I believe named Dan) spoke with me but said there was nothing they could do about a refund because it was an online order. I spent $44 for what was supposed to be a quick meal. For that price and time, I could've sat down at Applebee's, ordered three full-size burgers with drinks and fries, tipped 20%, and still spent less money for better service and food. Chili's and BWW offer similar deals. Really disappointed this time. Hopefully they can improve the curbside process, because this was not Whataburger's best. At least, I hope it's not.

Buffalo wings came with 6 (kinda high price IMO), and pub chips. Wings were a good size, had been baked, the flash fried. Good and tasty! Pub chips good to too. Came with ranch, celery and carrot sticks. Beef sliders had 3 to an order. Had cheddar cheese and bacon on them. Also came with pub chips.
