Build Your Own Sampler Pick 3
William G.

I decided to switch it up this past weekend and gave Denny's a try. I've b hooked on Waffle House for a while and needed some change. I was seated back towards the restrooms and immediately noticed an odor, kinda smelled like a nursing home. I couldn't figure out if it was the booth I was sitting in or bathroom, either way, it smelled like urine where I was seated. I even switched sides of the booth and still smelled it. I almost embarrassed to say this, I still had breakfast here and it was actually good. This particular Denny's needs to give the place a thorough wipe down and stay on top of the bathrooms. Definitely my last time eating here. It's a shame Because the food was good, I just can't stomach the smell.

It felt good to be at Dennys. It did take a little long to get my food. But the food was pretty good. I would come again.

Having a good service background, my husband and I are always understanding when a place is training staff - everyone starts somewhere. But what makes a difference is that everyone still had a smile on their face no matter how overwhelmed they may have felt! We've never received anything BUT great service. The food is delicious and came out fairly quickly considering it was a busy Saturday. We talked with the owner who's owned the place for the last 8 years and they try hard to preserve the restaurant. He shared that the bar top stools were the original nickel stools, they had the original coffee machines and the original grill/stovetop. Their goal is to make updates to the restaurant while still keeping some of the history, which I feel is really special.

If anyone that is in management...try going to the table to see what is wrong with the food instead of sending your young waitstaff with your lame message. "It's been on the table a while he should have said something sooner" It was absolutely gross, and I tried to eat it. It just kept leaking more oil like the deep water horizon. You wouldn't have eaten either if you saw it. Looking for decent cheese grits, seeming great staff try it. DO not order the omelette, if you do bring some oil dry.

We arrived around 10:30 on a Wednesday morning and we were wrong to think that the place would be empty after an early breakfast rush. We were seating upon entering by Brooke who also was our server. The menu is varied and we found out that you can order anything at anytime. We had ordered the Spicy Pulled Pork omelette and Shrimp and Grits. Next time, we're thinking a Grouper sandwich as they were being enjoyed at two tables next to us and looked delicious. Our breakfast entrees arrived quickly. The omelette came with a choice of side and I chose the potatoes. They were seasoned but a bit cold and hard. Brooke offered to swap them out when checking on us, but by that time, I was filling up from the large packed omelette. It was filled with pork, peppers, onions and cheese with more spicy, sweet pork on top. I wish the entrees came with toast. The shrimp and grits were served over gouda grits as requested and the dish was spicy and filling. Definitely one of the best we tried in a while. Drinks were refilled promptly and Brooke took care of her guests quickly and with a smile.

The food was delicious as always but the service was 100/10. First things first, I am recently Gluten Free due to a new medical diagnosis and going out to eat has been a huge adjustment and usually means I either get something that tastes gross or nothing at all due to risk of getting sick. Not here! Ruby Slipper has a dedicated special dietary menu with one whole side devoted to GF options. Score! The French toast I got was made in gluten free bread; it was good enough to enjoy. You can't compare it to real French toast but for GF it was pretty good. I got eggs with it, which are always delicious here. Let's talk about the next thing that made this visit perfect: the service! Top notch! They were all so knowledgeable and friendly and accommodating. We came with our two children and my two year old was extremely fussy; the server offered to bring us a to-go box for our food after she promptly fell asleep in the booth. My oldest (4.5) ordered avocado toast. I had ordered all the fix-ins on the side and they accidentally made it with everything on top. They were quick to apologize and remake it. Then my oldest had her meltdown because she is 4.5 and we were sitting too long and it was too loud and the avocado toast was not like how she was used to. She started to cry and the COOK of all people came over and asked if she was okay and how could he make it better and was just so warm and kind and I was completely BLOWN away at how willing he was to make it right. I mean, they were so BUSY as it was Sunday brunch. So he made her a special avocado toast just how she liked it. Our server was also just so sweet and brought us boxes and kept things moving in such a compassionate way without making us feel bad about our children just falling apart. Everyone was so sweet and it reminded us of why we go there! Everyone in our party also loved their food too. Definitely would recommend it to everyone!

Before heading to the Pensacola Airport my friends took me here to meet their beautiful daughter & her boyfriend for lunch. There were plenty of tables and our server was very sweet. I was not that hungry so I shared some Beignet's & fried green tomatoes with my girl Paula. SOOOO good! The food came quickly and it was nice sitting and chatting. Very casual here...not fancy at all... *They do take reservations but we had no problem getting a table at 12 noon on a Monday. I'm sure it's not as easy on the weekends. I would make a resy:) No one rushed us which is always a plus. Only open for breakfast & lunch Mon - Fri: 7:00 AM - 2:00PM Sat & Sun: 7:00 AM -3:00PM Plenty of street parking ~ and that's all I have to say about that...

Order here and then find a place to seat inside or outside and Kyree will deliver your food. It is unclear whether to order drink with Kyree or go to the bar. This time around I went to the bar to get a coke, water, and a vodka soda. Since this location is new, I am confident they will figure it out whether or not Steel Pony Diner can order drinks at the bar where the experience can feel a bit more full service where I can order my food and drinks with one person with Kyree or order at the bar with the bar tender. FYI. Dorothy's is a non for profit bar to help fund raise for OASIS (a HIV prevention service and also serves people with HIV/AIDS). This visit, I had their signature Prego Sandwich served with a side of au ju and your choice of side garnished with Mable's Sweet Garlic Dill Pickles (I will cover later). For $2 extra I added grilled mushrooms. This sandwich is delicious!!! It is so good, it could be part of the Pensacola tourist DNA, meaning, if u visited Pensacola and had the Prego sandwich you will think about this sandwich when u think of visiting Pensacola. If u are visiting Pensacola, and not bothered with the LGBTQ community make Steel Pony Diner @ Dorothy's your next destination especially Memorial Day Weekend. With that said, let's talk about Mable's Sweet Garlic Dill Pickles made by Todd Morris of Family Orchard Farm. These pickles are like a savory candy... delish!!! I am not really into pickles, but these here are so good! I wonder if they make a relish version. If not, Todd, helurrrrrr?!?!?! You can get a jar for $12 at Steel Pony Diner. Ask Kyree or Eric to purchase.
