We arrived at 7:32. Server seated us right away. Brought our beverages within a few minutes. Then nothing. Finally after a period of time he came to take our order. At 8:06 he brought our food. And after that... nothing. No hows everything? Can I get you anything else? Would you like more coffee? NOTHING. No syrup, no jelly, no refills on our coffees. There were a total of 3 other customers at the time. Thankfully Amber came over to check on us. Brought us everything we needed. Fresh cups of coffee. Asked if we needed anything else. In fact she returned twice to check on us. The other server did not. But he was at register when I went to pay. I gave my niece $10 for tip to give to Amber. But the man stepped to the left and handed his hand out to my niece and took the tip. Our family has tried to go into dennys as much as possible as we'd been told that its possible it may close. Well with the kind of service he gives, I wouldn't doubt it. He should also not be a server if he doesnt know the menu properly and/or doesnt know how to be a good server. I will be sharing our experience with my friends and family. Next time, if hes there, we will eat elsewhere. I asked his name. Its Felix. We've been longtime customers and have seen Amber hustle back and forth BY HERSELF in the entire restaurant with almost all tables full of customers. ZERO issues. It's a Denny's in a small town along highway 101. Expectations should be low and they've always been exceeded for me. It's one of the last spots you can eat at heading south for at least an hour. It's one of the only places in town open late still serving shakes with a smile. Comes in clutch if you live in town and work late or on a long trip and need a scenery change from the road. read more

4/11/2026. Online shows open till midnight. Passing through and staying at one of the hotels in King City. Placed and paid for my order online around 10:05 PM and confirmation shows ready around 10:29 PM. Went to pick up my order around 10:35 PM but Denny's was closed, closed sign was up and the door was locked. Went to the door but two servers just locked at me. People were still stopping by but it was closed. Didn't get my food. Try calling the number on the confirmation but no luck. I need my refund. read more

Terrible service didn't serve right. I asked for scrambled eggs with cheese well done but instead got a soggy gross egg and when I asked for it to be redone politely I received a nasty look from one of the female cooks. Ordered take out and the food was disgusting and disappointing. The nachos to go were supper soggy drenched in oil with biggo chucks of meat that were raw in the middle, like they quickly chopped up a burger patty and threw it in. Mozzarella cheese sticks tasted very stale. And to top it off I should have realized it was going to be poor food because it smelled like a wet nasty mop inside, should have been my first red flag.. this place went down hill bad. Do not recommend it is way too expensive for the trash they served me, threw it all away and did not enjoy it. read more

Horrible! I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs. There is now a extra charge for eggs. The eggs were the size of Quail eggs.next the size of the eggs with be hummingbird sized. The Gravy was watery. Looked and tasted dirty dish water. Never going back. read more

What would travelers do without Denny's? Don't answer, that's rhetorical. The Denny's on Broadway in King City is just fine, and I'm a fan. I like traveling on Highway 101 rather than Freeway 5 when I'm traversing the Salinas Valley. One reason is this Denny's. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our orders came out very swiftly. Mine was (I admit) Moons Over My Hammy ($9.99). And yes, it was excellent, though not in a cardiac sense. My wife ordered an astounding Cobb Salad ($7.79), which she could not finish, so I did, perhaps mitigating the damage done by Hammy. The restrooms were clean, at least mine was. It was a great meal and rest stop for us, even though travel on 101 is pretty relaxing anyway. read more

Very convenient place to stop. Easy in and out with space to park an RV. Had the Atlantic salmon from the 55 plus menu. Excellent. Well cooked and seasoned. The chicken noodle soup good as usual. Coffee good and hot. Will return for sure! read more

Service sucks, ordered a senior omelette, it came with no cheese, waitress took my whole plate just to add cold cheese to an already cold omelette... If you're like me, Dennys is not your first choice as a dining experience; but, sometimes on a road trip your choices are limited. Well let me tell you, if you're in King City CA don't hesitate to stop at the Dennys. Our serve, Elvira, was delightful, upbeat, pleasant and very "cute". The food was fresh, flavorful, and prepared exactly as requested. I can say without a doubt this was THE BEST EXPERIENCE I've had in my life. Well done King City Dennys Team! read more

Celebrated Father's Day lunch with Bro and Sister-in-law. I had the House Salad - was very good and is bigger than it looks. Bro had the Super Bird, came with the best tasting fries. Sis had the crepes. My order was wrong so had to wait a few minutes more for mine, no big deal. Very enjoyable lunch. read more

This has to be my favorite Denny's along 101. I always get very quick service and food is always consistently great. Don't know how they are so consistent, but they are. The cook has to be the same one who is normally there. I always tend to get the senior omelette and today got pancakes instead of toast. The pancakes were cooked perfectly and tasted great, as well as the omelette and fruit salad. Sometimes, the pancakes in restaurant aren't cooked completely, but this location is perfect. Will definitely return here. The server has been there for awhile and always takes care of me as soon as I come in. No waiting around forever for service, and food is prepared and served quickly. read more

We were traveling and due to it being about 9pm (May 20) and limited choices we stopped at this location. The cook who made my Crazy Spicy Skillet did such a great job I decided to have another one in my travels. Unfortunately the other one wasn't as good as this one. Our complaint was about the next table using a phone for videos/games at a loud level. Unfortunately people don't seem to have manners or common sense. read more

3/03/23 at 9:10am. 4 tables with diners, rest of place is empty EXCEPT FOR THE PEOPLE waiting to even be acknowledged by ANYONE working! People waiting to pay! People waiting to be seated! Hostess walks past, does not even acknowledge ANYONE! We have been waiting for over 5 minutes! People before us, even longer! Son asked what I was doing? Said 'writing a YELP REVIEW!' in an above average voice. Suddenly service! Seated, she didn't offer drinks or ask if we want coffee! Just said "HERE" and pointed to a table, slid the menu and walked away!! No wonder this place is empty! It's been quite a while and no coffee, waitress. Think they will notice if we leave? Doubt it. 9:50, still no food, but we were finally ask if we want coffee. Son said it's a battle of staying power now. Lol I'll post receipt for time. 10:01 food came , wish we left! Eggs over easy? Fried hard! A diner cook that can't cook eggs? Not good!! Finally got check! Over an hour, asked for check and box when food was brought. Lol You can not pay me enough to come back to this Dennys for the food or specially the crappy hostess service, but I must admit, this Dennys had the cleanest restrooms out of all the places we stopped on o I his trip! I went to have breakfast with my daughters this morning, patiently waiting and no one takes our order. I start seeing that they take orders or families who arrived after me. More than half an hour goes by still no one takes my order so I got up and left. I went in this morning to have a nice breakfast. We will never go back to this place. I've lived here my whole life. Sadly this Denny's has always been understaffed. You might walk in and have only 1 waiter for a handful of tables. I understand the "bad reviews" but they're true, longer than usual wait times, and MOST of the time it's only 1 waiter and only 1 cook. The food is good, the menu is always changing/upgrading, the place is clean, plenty of parking, just long wait times. read more

This diner is so consistent, and although outdoor dining only- there is no better dinner than sitting outside watching sunset over the Santa Lucia range- just over those is Big Sur! And day dreaming in the slow sweet town of King City. Food here: generous as per Dennys policies- huge salads, fresh produce is likely from right here in this lettuce valley. The always delicious Moons over my Hammy. Pancake puppies!!! I'm dieting so... the service is patient and kind.. if you are rude in King City, traveler, you will do better to call in your order. No one wants you in their Face in COVID. If you have attitude there is drive up Fast Food, standard fare, lining the freeway. But take a chance, come down, all the way across town. Well as of my last review I contacted Dennys & spoke to the complaint line & they said this issue was bigger then this department handles, a couple of weeks later after we called 2 more times a district manager called us. He advised that me that the policy is to have the service dog on the floor regardless of size or if in a stroller with a cover. So I decided to address the complaint I had. So do something about the flies constantly in there that we never complain about because the food is always good as well as the servers are friendly & for the most part efficient. So he said he will get an exterminator. Bottom line is this district manager didn't even offer us a free meal at another location & I mentioned that to him with a location & he stated I don't work that Dennys, i was like good grief you won't even offer anywhere else. I said fine, i don't want to go to any of his fly infested service dog unfriendly locations. 0 stars for KING CITY DENNYS. WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN & I LIVE IN KING CITY!!!! Their loss. read more

Went here for lunch to meet up with my uncle and aunt. This place was super busy. I think every table was filled? Our waiter was very nice, he appologized for being too busy to bring me extra brown sugar for my grits. I've never had a waiter do that before. Food was so tasty. I ended up ordering the build your own breakfast with 4 items. Over Easy Egg, English Muffin, Grits and hashbrowns I can't believe it, but I ate everything! If my uncle suggests going back here, I'll say heck yes! :) read more

Horrible experience here durring Mothers Day. They sat us down and had us waiting for so long. So I decided to look for another restaurant while waiting. The staff which was all high schoolers seemed so unorganized and messy. They didnt even check on us we pretty much felt forgotten so we decided to walk out. Only to have one of the staff members walk out and yell at us. Telling us we are not welcomed back there. Like we would want to go back to a place that treats its customers this way? They need to hire new staff or train these kids better. read more

So I don't even know where to begin with this one. Okay you all picture this you want into the restaurant and there is absolutely no one to be found most of the lights were off but the lights above the bar and side tables are on and the door says open. So we walk in still no one to be found. So be the curious and helpful person that I am. A little back story my father owned a restaurant so I get it might be having a late start but the 12 years in Fire and EMS made want to just make sure that everyone and everything is okay so we heard a news in the back the door was open so I walked near the door never crossed the threshold of the door jam. When the waitress walked by I simply asked if she was okay and if they were open yet and she went full fledged yelling and telling us to get back need to remind you I'm standing in a Fire department shirt and hat no mask nothing threatening because I could under stand coming around the corner to some guy in a mask and hoodie and it would be scary. Then she proceeded to seat us 15 minutes to get our drinks and then another 25 for the food no refills and never even came over and asked us how we were doing.
