It's Tuesday night and my husband and I had a craving for wings and nachos. It's almost 10 and we wanted something quick and yummy so we can go home and rest. We stopped by this location and it was a mistake. The party in front of us waited more than 15 min to be seated and when the server told them they would have to wait longer, the gentleman complained. She made a "so what face" and just said yes. She sat them and made sure to tell him that he would have to wait til the server got to them which would take a bit. We saw some friends and said hello... So, on our way home tonight. Me and my wife decide we want to order an order of nachos. We google the number to dennys and we call it. We called it many many timess. Umm no one answers, then the call drops. Everytime! So we drive to the location and the server says he doesnt know whats happening. A customer goes up to the front to pay, he has a debit card. The server then tells the customer that his system is down, that he has to take money out of the ATM. (like if was the customers fault the system was down) the guest agreed and procceded. He took money out, not realizing thay the ATM machine was chargin him a fee. The server never said he was sorry the system was down, nor discounted the fee the guest had to pay due to their internal issues. We have been here many times before, but last night is the last time. Arrived around 9 pm, we were seated a few minutes after arrival, we were there for an appetizer and dessert. So i am not sure if this the reason why the waiter never showed up, anyways my bf never got a second cup of coffee, we never got the check.. We were there about an hour and had to go to the cashier to pay without the check/receipt. The girl at the cashier took a while to help even though they were not doing anything.. Finally says how can i help you, so i said we have been waiting on the waiter to request the check for a while but he never showed up. Can we pay now? About a month ago I came here around 12:30am after a long shift at work. Took them 15 minutes just to take my drink (I ordered water) despite it being near empty. When I tried to order food I was told the server would take my order, not the guy who gave me drinks. That took another 15 minutes. Probably the most infuriating service ever. The worst part? I could literally see the person who finally ended up taking my order standing around the kitchen doing absolutely nothing. He wasn't running food, he wasn't waiting a table and yet somehow it takes 30 minutes just to ORDER at midnight when the restaurant is nowhere near busy. Absolutely ridiculous. Then today I came in and gave my party size to the woman at the register. She looked at me and literally walked away to seat someone else. No acknowledgement. And I know she heard because she was looking at me as I spoke. So instead we gave our party size to a nice young woman who we'd later find out is the manager. Our server was okay but once again it took nearly 40 minutes to get our food. My mom didn't even eat the sandwich she ordered. The cheese was cold and not melted, she asked for avocado and got three measly slices on ONE side of the sandwich (they serve it sliced in half). The bacon was shriveled and about the side of my pink in length and width. It was sloppily put together (they had 40 minutes though??!). Hire new cooks or train them better. And teach the people at the front desk how to smile smh. Only decent thing about this place is that the manager was sweet. Unfortunately this doesn't make up for the crap service and poor food. As a frequent Denny's customs I can say that I've been to serval. Most have exemplified great custom service however, not many has motivated me to write a yelp review. Today for breakfast, I stop by a local Denny's in Hawthorne CA, off 132nd and Hawthorne Blvd. like normal, we were greeted and seated. The motivation beyond this post is the level of service we received from whom I believed to be the manager (Danny). Not only did he take our order he also was very accommodating and attentive. On top of that. Our server Tom was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable of the the menu and recommended a dish I never had which turned out to be delicious. Came here for lunch during the week. It was packed and there was a 10 minute wait for 2. I realize this was the holiday break for most schools but the service was not very good. We ordered our food and it took 20 minutes to come out. We observed other tables only getting half the people's meals at a time, and not refilling drinks promptly. When our food came out it was cold. The server commented that they were down a cook today, but they had plenty of food runners in the kitchen. The plates were also stacking up. She brought us our food and we didn't see her again until she came to our table halfway through our meal telling us we need to cash out. As a server I get you want to go home when your cut, but if it's so urgent you can't wait for your table to finish their meal you should transfer them to someone else. To demand someone to cash out before they even finish their meal is ridiculous. I try to be understanding, but as a paying guest I at least expect to be able to finish my meal at the pace I want.
