The place is an absolute mess. The server was super nice, but seemed confused as to what he should be doing. Manager and cook spent a fair amount of time angrily gesturing and slamming things behind the counter. The food was probably the worst part, absolutely terrible, we barely ate any of it. The place was empty except us and one other couple, but you would have figured that it was slammed by the way they handled their business. Spent almost a hundred dollars just to go to Cains afterwards. Avoid this place if at all possible. read more

So this is bazaar, but there are 2 Denny's at the Travel Stop outside Barstow. Really confused us I we could see the other one by the highway, but didn't see this one until got off the exit. We stopped by at 5am on the way from SoCal to Vegas. It was still dark when we arrived and found 2 other families having breakfast with only one waitress and one cook. In speaking with the waitress, she's the only there until 6am and was pretty much doing everything except preparing the food. For someone playing host, waitress, busser, and cashier - she did great. The good thing is, you usually can't go wrong with Denny's. This one nailed what we expected; A-OK food and service. We split the French Toast Grand Slam and the waitress was kind enough to bring us 2 plates so we could easily share. A nice touch. Place was clean, and looked fairly upgraded. Bathroom was the only disappointment in that is smelled like a truck station restroom. We might try the other Denny's on our next trip to Vegas just to see what the difference is. read more

I stopped at this Denny's while headed back home from a crazy weekend on Monday. I was craving pancakes and a fresh cup of coffee. As I got seated, my server was excellent. She was quick, nice, and you can tell she loves her job. I believe her name was Erica. As it was earlier in the morning, I was blown away by the service I received. I would highly recommend anyone to come eat at this place and experience Erica as their server. She was great and I will definitely be stopping here again while passing through in the future! read more

Don't know how these restaurants in this messed up state has so many stars. This place was disgusting. Son order Mac'n cheese... came out cold and soggy. Wife's chicken-strips... Cold and bland. Ordered shakes... it was not a shake, it was milk with syrup in it . I ordered the brisket mac'n cheese.... Brisket was dry AF! It was jerky. If Denny's had a mother... she would be slapped for how bad this food was. Never go to this location again. On a good note, the waiters were so nice, and amazing. But gave no tip for how bad the food was. Good job Denny's. Lived up to the same expectations as I got in Columbus GA. read more

Came here during a road trip at about 9 pm. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Ordered the veggie omelette and pancakes and they were so good, especially for it being so late. This has got to be the worst experience I've had in a dennys chain, my family who was a party of 8 waited 30 minutes to be sat (it was not busy at all) the host began to set our table then for some reason, began sitting other parties that came after my family and started serving them, which extended our wait time even more waited, wasted 30+ minutes of our time, so we decided to go to the other dennys across and was sat down right away. read more

When you're really tired and super hungry you're not looking for amazing food, at least I don't. You're looking for something that is quick, edible, and reasonably priced. Which is why when Priscilla H. and I saw this Denny's on our way out of California, we thought it would be the perfect place to fend off our howling stomachs. The service was kind of Jeckyl and Hyde. our waitress seemed very friendly and pleasant one minute, then in the next minute gave us attitude like we offended her. I ordered the Philly cheese steak omelet, with egg whites, wheat toast, and fresh fruit. The fruit came out first, and it wasn't 'out of a jar fruit cocktail either. It had fresh raspberries, banana slices, grapes, and apple slices. It was delicious. My omelet was equally delicious, and I was more than happy that they accommodated my egg white request. The toast was fine, but wayyyyyy over-buttered. I'm talking globs of it. Overall, for a late night/early morning meal, I've had better and worse. read more

My husband and I travel a lot and Denny's is our "go-to" place on the road. Sometimes it's bad and sometimes it's good, mostly depending on the cook and sometimes on the area we are in. This time we were blessed with an exceptional Denny's! I always check out the reviews and apparently there are a couple of Denny's here, one being across the street. Those other ones had bad reviews and this one had great reviews. So naturally I chose this one. So glad I did! The restaurant is very clean, lots of areas to choose from to sit, counters, tables & booths. Lots of tv's but not loud. Our waitress was Cassandra and she was awesome! She didn't even write our order down, hit a couple of other tables and still got our orders exact! The food was great. Not smothered in grease which happens at some Denny's (depending on the cook). After reading all the reviews for Denny's in Barstow (there appear to be 3) this one seemed like the best bet. We stopped in for breakfast at 8:30am on a Saturday on our way to Laughlin. This Denny's is part of a Flying J travel stop so it's convenient to get gas and other items in one stop. The restaurant seemed newly remodeled and the bathrooms were also remodeled and clean. Our Server, Soledad as excellent. Seated us right away and was very attentive to our young kids (2 and 5). My coffee cup was never empty! Our order was correct, the food came fast and hot, and it was delicious for fast diner food (remember folks this is Dennys). The kids menu has tons of choices and the little activities and crayons you get kept my kids busy almost the whole meal. We will definitely stop here again if we pass through Barstow. read more

Driving from Vegas to LA, we needed to stop for a late breakfast, a pit stop, and to charge the car. Decided to give Denny's a try. Our server, Stephanie, was at our table immediately to take our drink order. I went with the fit fare skillet and a coffee. Under $10 and under 400 calories. The portion was huge (lots of veggies, potatoes, and melted cheese). The Taste was really good. And the coffee was surprisingly good ( Stephanie said she put on a fresh pot for me. And I believe her, it tasted freshly brewed). Fine dining? No. But an excellent choice for a quick, tasty, reasonably priced breakfast. I will be back. read more

I am constantly on the road traveling for work, and often times use the drive thru to pick up food due to the convince of being able to eat on the go. On this particular day I decided to stop and eat as well as have a cup of coffee. I encountered a wonderful presence with a waitress named Erica. She has a wonderful personality and is very quick on her feet and makes sure the customers needs are met while dining. She made sure my cup of coffee was hot and fresh as well as food was made to perfection!!!!! THIS GIRL DESERVES A RAISE, and not a couple of cents lol!!! We just ate at Denny's in the Lenwood Area of Barstow. We do Hotshot Trucking and eat there whenever we stay at the Comfort Inn. This is the 3rd time we've had Barbara as our waitress. She is personable and friendly and so much more! You know that she loves her job and the people she serves. It's a pleasure going to this Denny's. The food is always good, too. The Chicken Boubon Skillet is filling and delicious. My husband had the Salmon Dinner tonight and really enjoyed it. He also had a pizookie for dessert. recommended by Barbara, and it was yummy!
