Other than a few minor hickups in the beginning the service went off without a hitch. I was a little annoyed with thier "contract" as a jump off point, to be trutheful Contracts are for closing on houses and more important legal issues, other than festive Christmas lights. Bah Humbug! They did charge me and additional $20 to clear off some minimal limbs that were impedeing their ability to hang the lights. I believe they should have included that as part of the service especially since I was the one who loaned them the equipment to rendor the limb removal. Additionally, I felt terrible that they looked to be on the verge of heat exhaustion while installing and offered complimentary gatorades and water which they didnt have the courtesy to throw away and left in the yard as trash. They should be a little more prepared in terms of bringing drinks for hydration and equipment necessary to complete the job (ie. limb trimmers). Lastly, supplying a timer for the lights to go off and on, at dusk and dawn seemed to be asking too much apparently. They did supply one after some convincing, but it didn't work. Ultimately I had to just go buy one. These are just some of the things that were bothersome after paying $350 for the lights and install. I have used services in the past where we moved from in Dallas and those services were much more customer centric and straight forward. They simply put up the lights, they worked, looked great, easy to work with, no contracts, and were about $50 cheaper in a much bigger market on a much bigger house. Here's the GREAT NEWS....the lights looked incredible, they did fix all broken light bulbs in a timely manner, had a fairly high level of communication, and the beautiful lights were up the entire season without any problems. I think they have some real potential and will hopefully take this feedback and improve moving foward. I will definitley use them again next season and give them another shot! read more

Unresponsive. Flakey. Leaves broken light bulbs in the yard. Inexperienced and unprofessional installation. Horrible ladder with no rubber feet and the way he leaned it against the roof, I'm surprised he didn't break the roof. I thought the guy was going to fall off my 2-story roof numerous times. He was wearing worn out sneakers with the soles falling off. He had no idea why the GFCI was tripping, because he connected too many strands to one line. As a result, no lights worked just one hour after installation. Maintenance is a joke. They just don't show up. Many broken promises. Never again! read more

DO NOT CALL THIS GUY!!!! He is sooooo shady with his quotes and then Nickel and dimes you to death. All of the lights kept tripping my GFCI and won't work... I had an electrician come out and he laughed out loud at their quality of work. Now Steven, the owner, won't call me back to discuss my frustrations. I should have read all of the reviews before booking and trusting this company. We were booked for last week. I never got a call back after trying to figure out which actual day. Tried again a few days later - no call back. Then they show up unannounced while my kid's sleeping and the dog starts barking. So I go ahead and have them start on the lights. They were so uneven I had them stop. They didn't listen to my message that I needed all of the same type of clips. The helper guy was so rude and said "I didn't even want to do your lights from the beginning!" They left to the neighbors house bc they neighbor had been having a nightmare with them (lights not working correctly and kept having to call to get them to fix). They never called back when I tried to get them to come back for their toolbox they left. The neighbor said they were supposed to come back to her on Sunday and they no called/no showed her again! I wound up paying a neighbor $125 and the light job this guy did was super - nice and straight and professional. (Dennington quoted $300). Sad that it's hard to find decent workers these days. read more

Well the previous two years are use this company and had no issues they were wonderful they came out and fixed my driveway lights when a friend of mine ran half of them over but this year I was told that I would be on the schedule first of the season which would've been after Thanksgiving no one showed up I called Monday of this week which would be December 5 and they said that someone would be out this week I called yesterday they said someone would be out today to do my lights and I just got home and no lights my daughter is super disappointed and I don't know if I have enough time to find someone else to hang my lights up this year do not use this company read more

We used them twice: for Christmas 2014 and 2015. 2014: white lights, with timer, on roofline, trees and bush and post. Cords were nicely tethered to ground to prevent tripping. It was a good experience. It was installed while I was at work. Looked good. We actually recommended them to three friend families via email (and perhaps verbally more, but I have the email, so that wasn't conjecture). 2015: because of young children, we decided to switch to color. We had all manner of problems: install much later than promised by two inexperienced people. Install had lights out, uneven placement on bush, light strings that didn't match, cords left untethered and thus trip-hazard. They left a sharp tool stuck in the lawn for my toddler to find. I had to ask them not to smoke just outside my front door. And all this is after they had to correct numerous issues that my wife and I had them fix during installation since we were there. Including: they were going to use the wrong size bulbs and did substantial work before we came out to look and caught the error. The work-order clearly had the correct-size written on it. My wife and I then had to spend a lot of time looking for and having them fix mistakes. Our post had to be re-wrapped twice. They finished as darkness fell around 6 pm. (Any longer, and I would have felt it necessary to ask them to stop since I don't want anyone to fall off a ladder because of working on a roof at night.) Owner Steven came out and tried to fix some problems, about a week later. He said that he'd have someone out in another week to handle the rest of the issues. At 2 weeks we had to start pressing them to make it happen. This was 3 weeks since install. Overall, we were never satisfied since some of the lights looked old/tired, some gave off strong orange tint (more appropriate for Halloween than Christmas), and we had to bug them to replace lights that were out (until just giving up and just living with them). I have pages and pages of emails detailing all the issues. This is the short-version here. I first called in mid-October for their services. After Googling my home, they gave me, a new customer, a flat quote of $299. I gave them all my information and they committed to the first weeks in November. Then...silence. No invoice, nothing. I called them 4 times and left messages asking for a notification of the actual date as Halloween passed, only finally getting a response on the last call. It seems this company has serious issues maintaining a schedule and cannot keep communications at all. After the install (no notice given, I had to chase THEM down via phone), I called for the final bill, which was higher than the initial quote. That's when they finally started telling me the "line by line, strand by strand" price of each and every item, which they conveniently failed to share from the get go. Avoid this company if at all possible, there is little that is professional about how they run their business. I only agreed to the "new" high price because I want to be rid of them, and I believe my very young children should have a pretty Christmas while their daddy is in Afghanistan. I would have gladly paid more if they had just been honest up front, issued and invoice, and returned my calls. Business 101! read more

I've used Dennington for several years - they are quick to fix a burned out bulb and everyone I have dealt with has been friendly and professional. I was a little put off this year because I recommended them to my daughter and she hired them. They charged her about $100 less than me and she has a 2 story house. Perhaps it's because she was brand new...not sure, but I do like their work. This year they accepted credit cards only by charging the 3% it would cost them to process the card. As promised, here is my review..... The first walk through with owner was nice. He came when he said he would, did a walk through and was professional. Gave me a quote which I thought was high but was sold on his guarantee, his professionalism and what seemed to be great customer service & quality work that I was going to receive. He did not hit his install date (due to weather but was 9 days off). The first time out his team did extremely sloppy work. I had to take pictures & email the owner and his staff. They immediately agreed that this was not acceptable and sent someone out to fix, so after the 2nd trip, now we are close to 2 weeks from my before thanksgiving request (that he promised they would hit). I will admit the work around the top of house was very nice, it is a very tall 2 story, with steep eves, lights looked very nice and I was happy with the part on the roof (only a couple of burnt bulbs as well). I paid over $400.00 for them to wrap one tree and put garland around my front door????? The take down was not done until the 13th of January and when they took it down they left holes and staples all over my entry way (UNACCEPTABLE!) again just very sloppy. In short, his staff seamed just short of day labors and did not treat my property with respect. To charge someone over $600.00 to do what they did, you must have very high quality work and customer service, THEY FAILED MISERABLY WITH THIS! I'd give zero stars if I could. I started communicating with them for a simple Christmas Light Install on a narrow 2100 sf 2-story home. Steve confirmed I was on schedule for 11/26. Communications were spotty, texts not completely answered, no email confirmation, etc. His rough estimate for the front of the home in its entirety was $250 or so by phone. I never received a solid quote or any information. Nervously, I tried texting and calling. Nov. 26 came and went, no lights and no communication. When I did get someone new on the phone, he seemed puzzled that I had not received any info via email. Steve then reached out and said he didn't know what happened, but would get me set up for install ASAP. Then he proceeded to quote over $400 for one single row of lights, only on the top roofline. I provided architectural renderings that were very precise. He offered a discount to $350 for the mixup. At this point, they seemed unprofessional & disorganized, but I opted to pay the $350 just to get lights up... THEN, they come out somewhat randomly, look at the house and say it was underbid, and would be $525. It feels like one big scam, designed to back people into a corner because it's too late in the season to hire anyone else. Beware... read more

Our property was damaged during the removal of our Christmas lights. I emailed pictures to show the damage and was told that it could not have been caused by their ladders. No one came to look at my home or damage. I then received a call from Michelle and she told me she'd try to arrange a discount. I received a revised invoice with at $17 discount! So this year we thought we would have our lights done by someone else. I did some reading and chose Dennington. Well needless to say, since the beginning it was a cluster. Got several calls about scheduling, nobody seems to talk and I had to schedule several times. Lights finally got put up, looked good for one day then bulbs started to go out. I currently have over 12 out and we only live in a 1 story house so there is not a lot of lights. Three text messages to the installation technician and two voicemails and one email and no response. They were quick to get the deposit but after that poor customer service. I cannot recommend these guys at all. It's too bad because I try and use small businesses like this as much as I can. The lighting was perfect! The gentleman who installed the lights was great, very efficient and did it on one of the coldest days ever! I offered to pay upon completion, and he told me I would get a bill from the office. The concern I had was that we waited for several weeks and no response for final payment. Finally, as I was about to contact them, I got a snippy call demanding payment. I explained that I had tried to pay upon services rendered and reached out to pay. I paid immediately. They apologized, but that left a bitter taste in my mouth. As far as quality of work on the installation, I would rate them excellent, but the handling of the payment left a bad feeling about the experience. We used Dennington Decor this past holiday season and I have nothing but positive things to say about them. I have a 2 story home with some pretty steep eaves and they were able to handle it without any issues. They also installed some lights along the pathway to our front door and around our columns. The result looked very professional. As far as communication goes, I received a call the day before installation (and they showed up even though it was freezing outside), then a follow up email afterward, and another email after the New Year letting me know when they would be by to take everything down. I had a quote a few days later and installation within 10 days. The work was beautifully done and for a fair price. The workers couldn't have been friendlier. What really prompted me to give the five star review is my experience since. I've had to reach out twice since wjen certain strands stopped lighting up. Steven Dennington is a TERRIBLE communicator. I've used them for two years, was willing to put up with the poor communication for one more year because... If and when they finally get to you, it does look great. They are trying to really push the LEDs and push back on the traditional lighting. They tried to invoice me last year when they hadn't even put the lights up. We came from Dallas where the service was seamless and effortless. I may have to just get on FB and see if I can find someone who is more reliable and actually knows what going on with their business. If I ran a business like this one....I would of been fired. I've been literally trying to talk to them since August 2nd when I was going to add a substantial set of more lights on a garage apt and guest house. Sent pictures and everything and got radio silence. They sent me an email (Mid October) as if I hadn't already communicated (2) months ago in August saying I could have exactly what I had last year if I wanted and I said yes, but they said...but you can't have what you had the last two years. You'll have to go with LED lights. I said, what about the additional lights? They said send us some pictures. I replied I sent you those pictures 2 months ago? And.....No response! I called to get a quote and Donnie came out. I spent 20 mins walking around outside and showing him what I had in mind for Christmas lights. He understood the deadline I had and how much I appreciated getting Christmas lights up before my Christmas party with 100 people attending. While at my house he was bragging about a huge project he was working on. He gave me a quote via email and we agreed on a price and date of instillation. I NEVER heard from him. I called at least 6 times and emailed several as well. I was once pawned off on his "assistant," so acted like she didn't know why nobody was out yet to do the instillation. She promised me a call back ASAP; that never happened. I never heard from anyone again. Pitiful service! Donnie, if you didn't want the job why in the world wouldn't you simply tell me?! I literally didn't know if you were coming out or not on the day of my party, so I had my big Christmas party with no outdoor lights. I will NEVER recommend you or attempt to use your extremely poorly ran, unprofessional company again. You caused me an unreasonable amount of stress and at the end of it all there was no remorse, no apology; just NOTHING. read more

This is my 2nd year using Dennington for Christmas lights. I take advantage of their discounted price by scheduling installation early in the season - price basically same as last year. Their installation crew got most of the work done on the first trip but left a few details undone. However, one of their seasoned veterans was dispatched and tidied everything up. I've used Dennington Decor several years at 2 different homes. In earlier years, I even recommended them to a friend (who ended up not being happy with them.) In 2015 I used them and had to have them come back out to switch the color of lights to what I had ordered. When they did so, they left broken lights all round my yard. I gave them another chance and used them in 2016 again. They were weeks behind when promised. When I complained and indicated my intention of canceling my order, they gave me a discount and promised to have he lights up in a few days. I agreed. (I never received a new invoice, just an email with the new amount.) Again did not do the install by the promised date. While installing, I again noticed they were installing the wrong color and had them fix it. The install was fine and all lights stayed lit throughout the season. Upon removal of the lights, there were still light holders around the ridge of the house and a strand of lights stuck in a tree (the install did not include trees but they had apparently just dropped a strand and left it.) I pulled the strand down from the tree myself but the holders on the roof were still there last I looked. I paid the bill per the email I had received. I then received an email saying I still owed because the amount I paid did not include sales tax. Apparently their customers are expected to complete the removal and calculate sales tax themselves. They started out as a very good company but their customer service has gone way down hill and I would NOT recommend using them. There are a lot of installers to choose from and I'll be choosing someone else next year. read more

We've had a number of issues with Dennington. Firstly, there was a mess up with the initial quote after I sent them a diagram of the house with accurate measurements. They tried to charge an extra $300 for a mistake they made. Then they would call and not show up, then show up the next day without calling. The lights were installed so poorly, they looked terrible at night : ( They used different strands of icicle lights that shone at different brightnesses, and the wrapping around the trees looked like a 3 year old did it! We have already had to have them come back twice to address all of the issues. Steven, the owner, came out after I complained but replaced a broken strand with yet another different brand of light. We've requested them to come back a third time to fix two other broken strands, but have heard nothing back. Getting your Christmas lights installed shouldn't be this hard - very disappointing, we will not be using them ever again! read more

No hassle Christmas lights! They brought all the lights and equipment and worked quickly. The lights looked great, and no problems with takedown. I also had them string permanent lights on my arbor and changed my mind as they were working on how to position the lights. They re-did all the lights as I requested without complaints or extra charges. Job well done! read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Used them last year and swore we would not use them again. I shopped around and Dennington sent an email saying they would honor the pricing from last year so I decided to roll the dice and see how it went. I was very specif when we spoke on the phone about what I wanted done and I thought that we were all on the same page. Once lights were up, they did not do what we had previously discussed. When I asked if they could add the strings to finish the job as discussed they said they were losing money on the job and they could do it for an additional fee. Lets just say I was close to telling them to take the lights downs and leave. Not to mention that they gained an additional job when I referred them to my neighbor for a same day install that they were at my house. read more

Horrible customer service! Tried to get them to install our lights for over a month. They kept failing to keep the appointments they set, and when they did send people out it was half done, and looked horrible. They used rusty binder clips to hold the lights on, which didn't work and did scrape up my gutters. They also used staple guns on my roof, and other areas. They argued with me at length with all the reasons that it wasn't their fault (workers letting them down, too much work, weather, etc) and FINALLY agreed to send me a full refund. 5 months later.... no refund. The only thing they were prompt about was taking down the few lights they put up, though they did leave the rusty binder clips all over my yard for me. Horrible company! read more
