I was looking forward to dining at Dengeo's. I enjoy their Chicken Kabob and it did not disappoint. It was fresh and delicious. The tzatziki sauce was fantastic, making the dining experience exceptional. I look forward to returning

Combo Kabob Dinner

When we are in the area we love dining here. Today my husband ordered the chicken breast dinner and it is so filling and delicious! I ordered a side of Falafel but they were overcooked... almost too hard to eat! They still tasted yummy and I would order them again even if they were cooked the same way! The people working at the register were really nice but the guy cleaning the tables kept bumping into my bad leg. I have it slightly hanging over the edge of the booth so I don't get the booth seat dirty/wet because my knee is injured and I cannot bend it... he could have walked around the other side of the table near us (see photo) and I felt like he purposely came on our side of the table to hit my leg because it was up on the seat. One time ok.... But come on... twice. Ouch! Makes me not want to eat here anymore. Hopefully this wont happen the next time we dine here. Giving 5 stars for the food!!

Regular gyros sandwich at Dengeo's-- a beast!

I have been coming to this location since they opened, nearly 30 years ago. Prior to that, my family had been going to the original location which has now been open 50 years. There are a lot of reasons why the restaurants are open this long, great service, great food, clean location, reasonable prices. On my recent visit, I had just a gyros sandwich and it was more than enough to carry me from lunch time through dinner: Regular gyros sandwich at Dengeo's -- whopping amount of lamb, a fantastic sandwich size, really high quality meat, always freshly cooked, delicious tzatziki and vegetables. The tilapia is always excellent, as is the Greek chicken. A Greek salad is large and absolutely filling. I think I've had dolmadis before, but I've really gone only for these three previously mentioned Main items. As a dessert, you can't go wrong with baklava, sticky gooey sweet with plenty of nuts inside, although not a huge piece. There is plenty of parking on the side and in the back. If you've never been, Dengeos is a must go!

Let me just say that Dengeos has always been a solid dive in the BG area. The food is delectable and hits the spot every freakin time! The foot traffic reflects as such, as there always seems to be an abundance of hungry mouths coming in the door. The store itself is always kept in pretty good condition and has never felt bland or outdated. It serves as great place to hang with a group or even a date spot. It has all the fine qualities of a local joint. The Hotdog is on point and has the great Chicago flavors we all have come to know and love. The fries stick the landing as well, but have nothing truly to write home about, but I digress. As I always must, I of course tried their Mozzarella Sticks. They average a solid 4 on the savoriness scale, if ya catch my drift. The marinara included to compliment is regretfully is not as up to par. It is not horrible or inedible, but it just isn't what it could be. It could just be that I prefer something sweeter, but I shall move on. Overall, a meal at D's will always leave one satisfied, and is truly a privilege. Keep up the good work and good food, you guys rock!

Wanted to eat at a fast food sit down restaurant with the family and we landed at Dengeos in Buffalo Grove. When I lived in Morton Grove, IL - I'd frequent Dengeos in Skokie and I really liked their food. When we walked in the restaurant, it was about half full and we were able to get a spot to sit immediately. The order takers greeted us and let us know that they can take our order when ready. The place was lively and it appeared everyone was enjoying their food. After we placed our order it was ready in appropriately 12 minutes. We ordered, the Butterfly Shrimp Dinner that came with a Greek Salad, fries, and garlic bread, Skirt Steak Sandwich, Spinach Pie that also came with a salad, side of Greek Potatoes, and fried mushrooms. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and had a nice crunch and tasted like any other fried butterfly shrimp. The garlic bread was tasty and the bread has a nice chew. The crinkle cut fries were crisp and was had the right amount of salt. They used the same garlic bread for the skirt steak sandwich. I was told the sandwich was just ok as it was a little over done. Also, it didn't have much flavor to it. The nice sized spinach pie was flaky and the filling was a good mix of spinach and feta cheese. It was creamy and yummy. The Greek potatoes were too salty so we asked them if we can switch the potatoes for the Greek rice and they did, no questions asked! I could taste the lemon in the rice but it was not overpowering. The fried mushrooms paired well with the Tzatziki sauce. Overall we paid approximately $56 Dolars which included 3 fountain drinks. I feel that the portions were enough to satisfy our hunger. Was the Buffalo Grove location equal to the Skokie location? Yes! It was no different! If the family wants to come back to try the other menu items, we would!!!

We just discovered there is a Dengeos location within 20 minutes of where we live, which was an amazing discovery! I used to get Dengeos at the Skokie location during college and when I worked in the area a long time ago. This location is great at everything they do, similar as the Skokie location. The employees were very friendly and helpful during our dining experience. On this visit we ordered dine in meals and had a few items we ordered for take out. They had a seamless process to handle that request and they executed on that process as intended too! In so many cases lately at other places, execution has been the biggest issue. This location has a large dining room with both booths and tables, with a few TV's on each of the walls playing sports. When you first enter the restaurant, you're greeted with the long counter where you place your order with one of the few employees taking orders. They will call your order number when it's ready for you. They have bussers who come around to clean off the tables and pick up empty plates etc. Ee weren't sure if we were supposed to take our plates to a trash area or leave them at the table at first. The food! So good, just like I remember from the other location. The portion sizes are large, take a look at the picture I posted for the chicken and half rib combo, we expected 1 piece of chicken and half slab of ribs. We got half a chicken, the ribs, Cole slaw, baked potato, and pita bread. Dengeos is by far one of my favorite Greek gyro, burger, hot dog spots! I haven't had anything that I didn't enjoy from Dengeos. I doubt you'd be disappointed if you go try it!

Love the gyro salad and sandwich. It's a little pricey but worth it. The meat is good quality- not frozen and reheated. Love their fries!

Fortunately, I've now learned that this deli is far from normal and that you will have no difficulties ordering if you only speak English. From the outside, nothing really makes this deli stand out from other stores. There's not much advertising and the parking lot typically isn't very full. When you go into the store, you are surrounded by an amazing assortment of (mostly Russian) entrees, salads, desserts, and other food goods. This is at very competitive prices to other local delis and against Garden Fresh across the street. The daily lunch special for $5.50 is a steal for the amount of food that you get, matching Garden Fresh, Fresh Farms, KD Markets, and other local stores for value. What makes Allegro stand out for me -- other than the wonderful presentation -- is the large assortment of entrees available and the delicious flavors. With the food available here, there is hardly any reason to go to a Russian restaurant -- as most of the dishes you would have ordered are probably available here. The flavor in many cases are as good or sometimes even better than other local Russian restaurants. In particular, there are certain items that really stand out for me: - Split pea soup: Very rich and flavorful, I feel like there's ham or some other element adding flavor - Buckwheat: Prepared well as a side to accompany any entree - Cutlets: A little bready, but the texture and size is great - Vinegret: Tastes fresh and has a slightly crisp texture to it - Kabobs: Nice charcoal flavor infused, I particularly enjoyed the chicken - Fried potatoes: I feel there's probably lard infused into it, but it's very tasty and with a generous portion. Overall, worth a visit if you live in the area or if you want to explore Russian cuisine. Great prices and great selection with large portions.

We had ordered two multigrain avocado turkey sandwiches, that came with avocado, turkey breast, and cucumber. We just added Swiss cheese, artichokes, red peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, mustard, and seasoning. It came to a great sandwich with abundance of ingredients, that were all fresh and delicious. And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. The first time we went, they had a serve yourself soda fountain and they since got rid of it and sell soda in bottles and cans. They do still have a self-serve water station. Once you order, staff will bring to your table, so please tip when you order or leave on the table as they do come by and clear your table as well. The hostess appeared wearing a blue-and-white striped sweater hanging off one shoulder like she'd stepped out of an Italian perfume commercial. Around her neck was one of those little cornicello pepper necklaces, dangling just enough to suggest fate had finally decided to throw me a bone. Blue eyes. Not "blue." The kind of blue sailors used to abandon families over. She laughed at one of my jokes. That was all the encouragement my diseased brain required. I immediately conducted a full tactical assessment of the restaurant. The P.O.A. Index... ...was approaching DEFCON 1. Every direction I looked was another devastatingly attractive waitress carrying Aperol Spritzes with effortless confidence. It was like wandering into a government-funded supermodel relocation program. Then... A shadow fell across the table. A man. Our waiter was a man. Christ Almighty. The emotional whiplash nearly snapped my neck. It's like going to the zoo hoping to see lions and discovering the enclosure has been replaced with an accountant named Kevin. There are beautiful women everywhere, and somehow I'm discussing pasta recommendations with a guy who probably knows three different olive oils by taste. Cruel. Absolutely cruel. To his credit, the b@5tard was outstanding. Friendly. Fast. Knew the menu inside and out. Kept the drinks full. Never interrupted. The s.o.b. gave me absolutely nothing to complain about, which only deepened my resentment. The food, meanwhile, was infuriatingly good. The pizzas arrived looking like they'd been blessed by an Italian grandmother carrying unresolved anger from 1947. Thin crust. Fresh mozzarella. Just enough char to remind you that ovens are supposed to flirt with fire, not electricity. The pasta had that unmistakable handmade texture that makes Olive Garden feel like a felony. The cocktails disappeared with alarming speed. By my third Negroni, I was convinced I could hear Dean Martin narrating my life. Walking out, I glanced back toward the hostess one last time. She smiled. For approximately three seconds I considered abandoning my entire life to become a part-time sommelier with absolutely no qualifications. Then reality returned. The male waiter handed me the check. Four stars. The food was phenomenal. The cocktails were dangerous. The hostess should be classified as an Italian national treasure. And our waiter deserves a raise... despite committing the unforgivable crime of existing between me and the waitresses.
