The friendliest and most helpful staff of any hardware store. Typically knowledgeable old timers who want to assist you. Way nicer than the big box hardware stores. I needed a 9V battery. Simple. Went here and grabbed a 2 pack of 9V Energizers. Total came to $14.00 after tax. Had a few other errands and when I stopped to think about my purchase I thought it may have been a bit high. Try twice the average cost. I get it. Your store is convenient. But twice the price? Well, I went back and returned the overpriced batteries and went to Walmart instead. I'm done being a customer. You see, you had so many employees standing around talking, five to be exact, and three cashiers. Apparently you need to downsize staff and lower the prices. I can't afford your store anymore. When I moved here 25 years ago, I was so happy to have a local hardware store to go to instead of a big box store. I would always recommend this hardware store. Well, the last 5 years I no longer recommend this hardware store to anyone. They are rude! It doesn't matter if you walk in with a smile or not. I even had one walk with me to show me what I needed and he didn't even turn to look at me, he just pointed to it and kept on walking, didn't ask is this what you need, nothing. Another time I needed some special screw and fortunately I did get help but was told if I needed more of these types of screws pick someone else to help me! At first I thought okay I obviously came on a bad day for him but seriously it seems that everyday is a bad day for these employees at this location. Several neighbors now all agree this place has lost its charm. read more

I was going to give this store a 5 after the excellent service by Douglas. We were looking for an assortment of things and he was full of knowledge and good ideas for all of the different items. Douglas was also very personable, funny, and positive. However when I was about to check out I saw some essential oils on sale. I heard someone on the other side of the row so I went to ask a question and she was clearly bothered by me or something... she was rude, had an ugly demeanor and expression. I turned and said aloud - she is the opposite of Douglas! So due to the mismanaged customer service I have to give this store a 3 - if it wasn't for Douglas it would be a 2! read more

Home improvement stores, I usually dread going. BUT not to this one. It's small, manageable, clean, well stocked, good selection, and there are competent people to help you find things. They also have a lot of very useful items that regular hardware stores don't have. Unique things for your house/garden, even fun things to give as gifts. Parking is ample and it is not crowded. I've been shopping here since 1980. Knowledgeable employees are usually nearby to help you and they carry LOTS of things that the big box stores don't carry. Also, you can buy just the two screws you need, not be forced to buy a box of 20. Sometimes their prices are slightly more, but sometimes less. I stopped by here to get a replacement battery installed for my car key. Mike helped me and installed battery for me. There are many pieces inside the key to take apart with very small tools. He did it perfectly and made sure I checked key on my car before I paid for it. I also bought a battery operated portable fan. 02cool. This is best thing I bought lately. It's cordless and I set it anywhere, even my dashboard. It stays put. I'm getting my elderly Mom one and giving these fans for gifts. The fan takes two D batteries which I bought from Marisol. I will buy items I need from this store whenever I can. The cordless fan is so nice when my grandchildren are here, not having to step over cords. read more

I have to say if you need a weird type of lightbulb or an odd size carriage bolt, this place will have it. I have always had the old guys in hardware be so nice and helpful. If they don't have an obscure part, they will usually provide a list of local places that might have it. Their prices are actually very good for other home products as well from spa maintenance, Christmas lights to home goods. I've returned things in the past with no hassle unlike some of the other reviews. read more

Went back to the store and the manager says you broke it you bought it, no refund or exchange. Unreasonable staff is what you will see if you try to exchange items here. I was happily impressed by the custom service I got before I was vaccinated and could start shopping again on my own. Whenever I had domestic emergency, such as an ant invasion or mouse visitation in my kitchen, or ran out of cleaning supplies or toilet paper, I called and Scott would round up what I needed. I would give this establishment 0 stars if it allowed me to. Rudest employees I have EVER dealt with. I have lived in Laguna Niguel my entire life, I'm 36 years old, and I would consider myself a very polite and considerate person especially to retail and restaurant service workers, today being no different. Every single worker (except for an employee named mike who was very helpful and pleasant and I give props to him as I can only assume working in that negative environment must be soul sucking. Anyways, I asked an employee what the red sticker on the paint price meant (thinking they may be on sale) he stared at me upset that he had to walk over for such a "stupid question" and the said to me "so basically you're just nosy" (um what?)... I replied "oh, no I thought maybe it was a sale, thank you so Much!) he told said "it means there more in the back" and straight up just walked away. Not one employee had a smile on their face, and everyone of them seem inconvenienced by the customers. Liked the helpful customer service and nice assortment of things one might need. Had 3-4 people help me find 1 inch nylon strap by the foot (for belts), halogen light bulb, paraffin and beeswax (for bike chain). Did not have WD40 degreaser - sorry to say that may be a not too popular new WD40 product. Thankfully, the store was busy at 5:30 on a Tuesday, but had plenty of staff to make the shopping pretty quick and painless. read more

Why is yelp so big on "gender neutral" restrooms? Anyway, Home Depot is mostly full of half-whits whereas the man at DeNault's really knows what the hell he's doing. I was having a difficult time finding a Circuit breaker for my home, and all the people at Home Depot could do is shrug and say I don't know. The older employees in this store wear their masks around their necks. This endangers other employees and is a risk to their customers. When asked to move the mask up, they are snotty. Wearing a mask is not a violation of your civil right, it is respect for others - mostly your elders who are at risk if they get the virus. read more

Went into this store on my way from a project in Aliso Viejo,bought a few items ,one didn't work ( not the right size).Went back a couple of days later to purchase some other items.I tried to return one plumbing item didn't have a receipt,was told it wasn't purchased at the store,cashier scanned and yes it was theirs !There was a very moody man with orange hair and a goatee that said it was policy to have a receipt.Okay came back with receipt in hand to be verbally attacked and embarrassed by this same little old guy,saying I was trying to pull a fast one!! Wow for $18 unreal.Ended up after a lot of yelling from this insignificant little man,getting a store credit,my wife that planned on shopping for some last minute Christmas items was so disgusted with the behavior decided to spent the $18 and never return to this hardware store EVER AGAIN ,To make this all worse he wasn't masked up either!! Yelp challenge 2017 review 96: Shout out to Chris for being Fantastic today with my needs. Located in a strip Mall in laguna niguel near towncenter next to our favorite chinese resturant : China Moon. ( See previous review on chima moon) . I came here because my garage door battery had died and I needed it fixed, and replaced STAT or else no way to have access to la casa, NO BUENO! CHRIS was wonderful. He helped find what I needed, and placed the battery for me and made it work like magic. Made a chaotic day a little less manic. Very appreciated. While I was browsing the store I notices they had something for everyone. Cute tommy bahama beach items, camping and picnic stuff, tools galore to name a few. Prices were a little higher compared to competitors but hey, they have to pay for the location and rent isnt cheap! Overall, i will come back amd check out their patio and home furnishings. Its like home depot met with tjmaxx and home goods and REI and you have it all at denaults. Me gusta! read more
