I had a den mother facial with Ronit and it was AMAZINGGG. I felt like I was melting away all the tension in my face, neck, shoulders and body and floating on a cloud while she worked her magic. She has such a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the skin - her background is also in makeup and she saw that my skin was dry and explained why that was causing my foundation (that I came in there wearing) to spread. She tailored the facial to my needs and gave it extra hydration, and also gave me some good advice around steps in my skincare and makeup routines that I've since implemented and it's been working! After my facial I got to spend some time in the garden drinking tea which was a lovely transition from zen to the real world. We LOVED this spa! First off, we went pretty early (almost 20 minutes) because we were worried about traffic. They gave us a mini tour, offered us water and a nice place to relax until our spot was ready. We tried out the one hour sauna/ice bath. They gave us slippers and robes to help us get ready. My husband loves ice baths and went in for probably a good 20 minutes! I can't handle the super cold, so I basically only tried the ice bath on my legs and arms. The sauna was nice and relaxing. They also have a small shower on the side for you to rinse off before and after the ice bath/sauna. It's a cute spot and made us feel so relaxed. I highly recommend Den Mother Wellness! My husband and I went here for our wedding anniversary this morning. We enjoyed a 60 minute Sauna and Cold Plunge experience. You walk in and they hand you a basket with a robe and slippers back to a beautiful open sitting area and cafe. We ordered some yummy hot tea and they showed us our enclosed area. This was my first time visiting Den Mother Wellness with a friend who was visiting from out of town! This place is such an OASIS tucked back directly off of Abbott Kinney. We went on a Sunday and surprisingly once you were inside you couldn't even tell you were on (let alone) near the business street in all of Venice. We signed up for a 30-min sauna session along with the garden massage experience. All of the employees we interacted with were super thoughtful. We experienced great customer service the entire time we were there. The aesthetic and design of the location is AMAZING (only downfall being there only seems to be one restroom for the entire building so you may have to wait if you're there on a busy day. It's also really cool that they have some teas/etc on-site but you can also order from Butcher's Daughter (directly next door) and they'll bring it right over to you. Both of our garden massages were 10/10 and both ladies working took great care of us. The one piece of feedback I would have is how they manage/advertise the time allotment for their sauna session. We booked a 30-minute sauna session, but the time to get ready and rinse off/change were deducted from that 30-minute allotment. We were only given 1 minute on the timer to change and get into the sauna (quite rushed for two people in a smaller space when you are trying to relax), and then of two people need to shower and change that's eating significantly into your sauna time. Someone would knock on the door to tell you your time is up at your 30-minute mark. So at best, you're really only looking at 25-mins in the sauna to change, rinse off and change. read more

Before I could even present my gift card she was telling me, we add 18% gratuity so you will have to pay the difference. The person who gifted me had included gratuity on my behalf and I explained that to her at the outset. Her attitude about the 18% was just pushy. I think Fernando actually deserved more, but I was so put off by her attitude I just left it at the 18%. My gift card actually covered it. I paid for my tea and eye patches and was outta there. Decided to treat my BF out to a spa outing for a special occasion, and Den Mother definitely didn't disappoint! They offer a variety of bodywork services, as well as a private sauna + cold plunge room, all of which are priced very reasonably compared to other spots I looked at in the area. They're located on a super busy strip of Abbot Kinney, but we didn't have trouble finding free street parking, and once we entered, the surround sound system eliminated any noises from the street and transported us into a hidden oasis. The room we were placed into for our sauna and cold plunge felt really cramped, but we did see the other room and it felt more spacious and had a better cold plunge tub. Not sure how I'm able to pick the exact room I want on their website, since they're labeled "1" and "2" without any description or photos, so it might all be based on luck and availability. The employee also started our one hour timer while explaining the room to us (even though we came earlier than our appointment time) which didn't exactly sit right with me, since each minute is around $2.50. They also offer a limited Butcher's Daughter menu from next door, and we ordered some tea, margarita pizza as well as a cocktail. The margarita pizza was a bit dry without much sauce or toppings, but it definitely hit the spot. The cocktail was VERY strong and had a heavy essence of mezcal. We paid for our remaining sauna tab + our food on our way out, but we got chased by another employee into the street asking if we paid our toast tab. I wasn't exactly comfortable with the service and I definitely think the employees should communicate better or have a better way to track food purchases instead of treating customers like they're dining and dashing after such an expensive service. read more

I had a really fun time taking my friend here for her birthday. The staff is so sweet and friendly. Everything is clean and it is a nice space. I love the woodwork they have and they personalize your reservation with your name. The ritual bath I did for 30 minutes and it felt great to get a rub down on my feet and also they do a neck and shoulder massage, even your temples if you like. The price is really good for what they offer. It's so different. I appreciate everything they have here. They have a little bar, sauna, cold plunge, and a restaurant right next-door that they get. We got the margarita pizza, which I think was delicious and a great price but I wish it had more margarita feel to it. It had a big piece of basil other than that it tasted like a cheese pizza. I've been to Den Mother a handful of times on dates and with friends. It's one of my FAV spots in ALL of Venice Beach. It's always a cozy, relaxing, wonderful outdoor experience. I walk up the street from my place and just settle on the patio and melt into comfort. There are multiple options you can swing for yr weekend/evenings here. A total spa treatment, a lil tea party, and or order select food items from the Butcher's Daughter adjacent. We were here over the weekend, yes even in the drizzling rain and at night. It's kinda romantic. The super sweet staff: lit the outdoor patio fire pit for us, and clothed the chairs whilst we ordered herbal teas made in-house. The fabric awning above kept the drizzle at bay while we sat by the Firepit stayed warm, dry and enjoyed good company. Next visit, I'll try a facial spa treatment. Given the excellent service in other areas, I feel like she could've asked someone who worked there the night before about the playlist or at least made some type of effort. Came back for the second time, drawn back by our good first experience with the sauna and cold plunge. Unfortunately, this visit was a major letdown. Upon arrival, the room wasn't ready, and when I asked if we could wait inside by the bar area, we were told it was too crowded and had to wait outside. However, once we were finally allowed in, the lounge area was less than half full. Inside the cold plunge room, the floor's paint was peeling, and there were spots of mold on the wood. They had replaced the spacious white cold plunge tub with a small black one where you couldn't fully extend your legs. The once high-quality Salt & Stone hair and body products had been swapped out for their own homemade versions in random bottles. Despite these changes, the price had increased by $10, with no shampoo provided. When I asked for a hair dryer, I was shocked to learn they didn't have one. Overall, the experience felt subpar and not worth the higher price. It seems their focus might be more on massage services now, but I won't be returning for their sauna and cold plunge offerings. Saw videos online of this place and was mostly drawn to the patio with the robes and being able to order food etc. I usually go to DeBunne Spa in Torrance but wanted to try something different since it was my girlfriend's birthday. We came in and were told we couldn't sit in the back because there was a private event so we sat in the front patio which is also nice but can get loud since it's next to the street. Whatever, I figured maybe we could go to the back after. I went in for my massage and the music kept cutting off and then it just stopped for a couple minutes. My masseuse apologized and had to use her phone. She was great though. I asked if we could do robes and slippers and was told no bc there's a photoshoot in the back. I think that is something they should have definitely let me know prior. I would have booked for another day. 400$ + for just 1 hr for me and my gf is ridiculous when we aren't even able to get everything out of what we paid for. We were willing to pay the extra for the experience and didn't get it. At the end I ask for a discount or something for the inconvenience and they took off 50 something bucks. I literally planned to be there for a couple hours to eat and relax and that didn't happen. She offered the robe and said we could still order food after we were already dressed and complaining about it. It was really frustrating and truly disappointing because it was for a birthday. Booked a spa day here with my girls. We got the Ritual Foot Bath with Garden Massage for 1 hour. They also have a 30 min option as well. The area felt like a little hidden space and we were greeted with the cutest decor. They provided us robes to change into and then we were seated in a communal room, next to each other. Luckily we had the 10am appt, so no one else was using that space at the time. We sat in the comfiest chairs for the massages. We had Laura, Kendall and Devin and they were amazing, always checking in on us to make sure we were comfortable. My practitioner took great care with some injuries I have and still gave me a great massage--I felt amazing for days afterward!!! [Special note: some of the treatments include a head massage with warm oil. *updated review* Den Mother completely redeemed themselves. After a terrible first experience, the owner, Kenneth reached out to my girlfriend to apologize and invite us back. We were moving soon, but Kenneth was able to accommodate a day and time that worked for us. When we walked in we were greeted by Trish, the GM, who was friendly and professional. She escorted us to the Hot/Cold Plunge and showed us where we could place our items, so they wouldn't get wet. The hot and cold plunge was great! The sauna will definitely have you sweating like crazy. My girlfriend did the cold plunge and enjoyed it. It was too cold for me, so I stuck to the sauna. I also loved that they have a shower, so you can rinse off after the sauna. We had an 1 hour and 40 minutes until our massages, so we ordered the mushroom pizza from the Butcher's Daughter. It was absolutely delicious. The staff from Den Mother brings it to you, so you don't even have to get up. While we waited I read, sat by the fire, and enjoyed complimentary tea. One of the staff members was pleasant and refilled the tea once it was empty. Once it was time for the massage, our masseuse's came to get us. I had Soraya, and she was amazing! The space is gorgeous and feels like you're in tulum. But the foot bath massage... where do I begin!? We were escorted to the back garden (for guests receiving treatments) after we checked in. The space is heavenly and so relaxing with a fire pit and lunge chairs. Jeremy, the man running the show in the back arranged a beautiful cheese plate mixed with smoked cashew cheese and a salty cows milk cheese and fresh caraway crisps! Highly recommend! We sipped sake and mellowed out to the good tunes before we were seated for our herbal foot baths. Katie, my therapist, gave the most incredible neck, shoulder, head massage while my feet soaked in a blissful bath of herbs, citrus & coconut milk. After an incredible upper body massage, she gave the best pressure point foot massage ever! I felt like I floated to another planet. It was INSANE! HIGHLY recommend! I was treated to a massage here for my birthday, and it was a great gift. I normally go to the spare, low-cost massage places around town, so this felt extravagant. It's an absolutely lovely space, and surprisingly peaceful in the back area. No trace of the bustle of Abbott Kinney back there. I also liked that there were very few people (it was a weekday afternoon), and everyone was quiet. Far more relaxing than Burke Williams. I had a deep tissue massage and it was great. My therapist warned me that she would be doing cupping on my back (I've never had it on my back before--only arms and legs) and I really liked it. My back looked INSANE for about a week afterwards, but totally worth it. I wish I had time to hang out after in the back waiting area and maybe order some snacks and a drink.
