Customer Experience Review - DeMontrond Mazda, Webster, TX After two months of researching used vehicles, I chose DeMontrond Mazda based on positive reviews and located the exact vehicle I wanted online prior to visiting the dealership on 9/6/2025. Upon arrival, I was informed that the price would be $1,000 higher than advertised because I had secured my own financing. I was told I could either receive the online price by using dealership financing or pay $1,000 more with my own. Initially, I opted to use my own financing and communicated this to the Salesman, who relayed it to the Finance department. However, after reviewing the dealership's financing options, I decided to switch and requested the original online price. I reminded the Finance team of the agreement, and they confirmed a $1,000 discount had been applied. However, upon reviewing the final paperwork the next day, I discovered only a $400 discount had been given--resulting in a $600 overcharge on the base price. I contacted the dealership the following business day to address the discrepancy. While the Finance team acknowledged my breakdown and agreed with my assessment, they refused to make any adjustments, citing that the contract had already been signed. They also declined a return of the vehicle. As a senior citizen and sole caregiver to a disabled parent with significant medical needs, this experience was deeply disappointing. After driving the same vehicle for 13 years, I had no choice but to purchase another due to mechanical issues. I expected transparency and integrity, but things are not like they used to be and businesses will cheat you for even an extra $1. Unfortunately, this experience has left me feeling misled and undervalued as a customer. I strongly urge future buyers to carefully review every document and verify all pricing before signing. What seemed like a straightforward transaction turned into a frustrating and costly ordeal for 5 hours, even walking in knowing which vehicle I wanted and with financing in hand. Take the extra 1-2 hours and carefully review all documents, with your calculator, and don't be pencil whipped or cheated out of your hard-earned money. I was way too trusting and expected honestly and decency from other human beings! I still rated my review 2-stars because the used vehicle is nice, compared to the 2012 vehicle I've been driving, and I am only disappointed with my treatment, the lack of understanding, respect and decency, and an unwillingness to correct an obvious error in the price of the vehicle. read more

I took my vehicle there back in December of 2024 paid over $3500 just for months later the same light I took it in for to get fixed is back on. I take it to them and they had the nerve to tell me if it's not on them I would have to pay. I told them this is the same light I paid you guys all that money for so I'm not paying anything else. I took it to them in July and This place had my vehicle over 2 months and each day I called I kept getting the run around. Yes they gave me a rental but I wanted my car back! I kept getting the run around every time I called. I don't live in this area I am 30/40 min out so it was not ideal for me to come everyday to check on it. After calling and telling them I wanted a manger I finally got a response to come pick it up. I go and my battery is dead, mind you I didn't even have that battery no more than I month when I took it to them. My sun glass holder was broke and my hood of my vehicle is faded out so bad. From the battery being dead to my hood being so faded that's how I knew my vehicle was just out there sitting and never being worked on. As I tell them about my sunglasses holder the guy comes and jumps the car with a machine they have. He tells me if the car won't start I'll need a new battery and I'm telling him it's a new battery why would I need one and why would yall not be replacing it? I told them I wanted my glass holder fixed. I'm already frustrated and just want to get home which is 30/40 min. I get home and turn the car off. The next hour or so I try to go run an errand and my car won't start it's dead. Take it to auto zone and luckily it had a warranty I get it replaced it. The next day it starts right up but the same light came back on. I'm frustrated and upset I call the dealership guy Louis and tell him how this was unacceptable. He tells me to bring it back and will have the manager call me. Now mind you this is the same manager that was supposed to replace my son's JBL headphone the first time I took my car in, due to them leaving my door unlocked and someone breaking in.Headphones never got replaced FYI. Louis tells me they're not going to charge me for labor and I laughed cause why tf would I pay yall for labor when I've already paid yalls over $3500 and you misdiagnosed the actual problem. I felt I was owed something back from that. They have my car for 2 days and called me to come pick it up. I express to the manager Austin how this was ridiculous and unprofessional but he didn't give 2 F*****. I will NEVER and I mean NEVER go to this place again. We purchased a vehicle and were told it had passed an over 150 point inspection before being posted for sale. We also checked many things ourselves (as my husband knows a lot about cars) and were given a "forever warrenty" which is a joke. We also purchased 36 months of a warrenty to cover anything else for peace of mind. The vehicle was running great in the day as we purchased it and test drove it in the day. Then I went to drive it at night and the headlights were very dim, almost as if they were not on. We were told it was a manufacturer issue. We contacted the manufacturer who said that they took care of it only through 2019. The previous owner did not get this issue fixed, and demontrond lied about it having a very thorough inspection and is refusing to give us documentation that the inspection was completed at all. We also have not been given any next steps as this is going to be a 2k fix, not just an easy bulb change. For a company that prides itself on the forever warrenty and being honest to bring customers back, they are not living up to what they promised. Both of the warranties given to us meant nothing. Had an awesome experience. Has anyone ever said that in regard to a car purchase? lol We went when the huge ransom attack was in effect. They were packed with people looking to purchase. We walked in and Veronica came to ask if we needed help, super helpful. We had already picked a vehicle online and had been talking to Nurun A. She said that he would be out momentarily. They have complimentary water/soda/coffee. We sat down at a small table and enjoyed a cool drink. All we had to do was confirm that the vehicle was indeed "the one". It was. We finished our paperwork and were in and out within 3 hours - the time included a test drive, filling out paperwork, credit check, wash/vacuum, finance w/Kelly, and a quick run through of the vehicle. Overall for purchasing a car it was quick and efficient. Everyone that we dealt with was nice and helpful. The sales manager even came out and said hello and asked if we needed anything. Stopped in on Saturday, June 3rd to look at Mazda options and we had a salesman approach us who's name was Marco. We looked at a couple of vehicles and when the subject of financing came up, I told Marco I had a pre approved loan from Navy Federal Credit Union (across the highway) and a draft check ready to go, meaning I was able to purchase and fill out the check, right there on the spot. That's when Marco informed me it was "Demontrond policy" that they do not work with NFCU pre-approvals and I would have to get a "cashiers check" from my bank. I've purchased dozens of vehicles over my life and done multiple transactions with NFCU pre-approval draft checks, including a brand new Cadillac Escalade, that was in a significantly higher price point than the Mazda we were looking at, and not one time have I ever heard of a dealership refusing to work with a pre-approved check. Nonetheless, I walked away from any consideration of a Demontrond purchase and went down to Bayway Lincoln and bought myself a new Lincoln with ZERO issues. So, if you use Navy Federal for your financing, don't even waste your time. You have better options anyways. Since posting my Google review, I received vulgar messages and calls from this sales person. I have forwarded my concerns to the company and will hope they address this person and his very unprofessional behavior. This was and probably will be the worst car buying experience I have EVER had. The first point of contact was with "JT" and we went back and forth via email about a CX-5 Turbo. He eventually stopped responding, even when I reached out again. A few weeks later, I found another Turbo listed by them on Autotrader for $2,000 less than MSRP. I called and Christopher Hatch confirmed that price was correct and we exchanged phone numbers. The next day, I called and spoke to Marco, who told me what Chris Hatch said the day before was incorrect but the Sales Manager would honor the price. Chris then texts me that information and I ask if there was a way to get an estimate on my appraisal before I drive to Webster. He sent me a link and I get my estimate, which is similar to what I've been offered at 2 other dealerships in the Houston area. We decide to go and I let Chris know we would be there on Monday. Monday, my husband and I drive to the dealership. We walk up to Chris' desk and he doesn't stand to shake my hand until I introduce him to my husband, whose hand he shakes first, of course. He then asks if we're just there for an appraisal and I said no, I'll buy the car today if possible. (The car is in transit and won't arrive until December) They then appraise my car for $4,000 less than the link they sent me said. We are asking several questions and he is extremely rude and condescending to the both of us. A few more questions were asked before I just ask him what his problem was. From the moment we arrived, his body language and demeanor was incredibly off-putting. He rattles off a few excuses and I ask him to get my car keys and his manager. For the next few minutes, him and his managers laugh in the room behind us with glass walls. No, I'm not kidding. My keys in his hand. His manager walks out, my keys still in Chris' hand and doesn't even ask what happened. He just looks at me. More excuses and doesn't try and remedy the situation or even apologize for their inexcusable behavior. I finally get my keys back when Chris is behind the pillar in the office, laughing, and throws my keys at the manager. For someone with a credit score over 780 with the ability to obtain a loan from any financial institution and a large amount of equity in their trade - we figured this would be an easy and enjoyable transaction. No, it was anything but enjoyable. It was unprofessionalism at its finest. I'm not really sure what I did to deserve this behavior from any of these men. I have been polite and kind in every exchange I've had with them. This dealership is the epitome of the reason car salesmen have a bad reputation and why people hate the car buying experience all together. Save yourself the hassle and go to Greenway or Jeff Haas, where they treat you with respect, dignity and actually want your business. I still trust the work done. But in the past couple of years, service department is clearly overwhelmed and understaffed. Loaners cars are now non-existent and wait times super long. Twice a mechanic has left the inside of my car dirty. Not a big deal...just a sign that they are rushed. Management needs to do better by the employees! (Everyone complains about "upsell" but these folks make a livable wage because of commission. I always call a car tech-y friend when I get the recommendations. This is my first time purchasing a car, and I took the time to thoroughly research the vehicle I'm interested in. I've heard horror stories about dealerships and the dealership experience, so I decided to go the online route since that's an option available to me. I chose this particular dealer because of the excellent reviews and felt comfortable with them. I submitted all my necessary documents and received a positive response from KR, indicating that we could proceed with the process. I inquired about having the car delivered to my home and if it was possible to sign the paperwork electronically, which he confirmed was allowed, but I would need to sign the rest at the delivery. I had a conversation with the finance officer, Kelly, and thought everything was in order. I was scheduled to receive the car on August 15th, 2024, and would get an email from KR asking if I was still interested, as Kelly had been making efforts to contact me but had not received any missed calls or emails. I responded affirmatively, indicating my readiness to proceed. He agreed to drop off the car on August 16th. By 5pm, I received a message from George Galvan stating they couldn't deliver the car and asked if August 17th would work. I confirmed it was fine. I didn't hear from him until 6pm, who then said they couldn't deliver by someone else, but they would arrange for it by Monday, August 19th. It's now Wednesday, August 21st, and I haven't received any updates. This experience has been a nightmare of poor communication, incompetence, and a lack of follow-through. What a joke, this place is a joke. So, after viewing a Honda CRV and Toyota Rav4 from their website (because they don't only take in Mazdas and sell them), my dad and the salespeople, Mike and Alex spoke over the phone that I was supposed to come in to test drive both vehicles for our scheduled appointment at 3:46 pm. Mike tells my dad that he is at Mazda of Clear Lake viewing both vehicles. I had to take care of some business that morning, scheduled the appointment earlier at one o'clock when I called, Mike answered and he said to come in at one - "everything will be ready". I ask him, "am I still meeting up with Alex?" He says there's no Alex that works at the dealership. Strangely. I drive to Mazda of Clear Lake to locate Mike (and the other salespeople) tell me that there's no Mike in the Sales Department and instead redirect me to the Service department. When I get to the Service area, I tell the Mike there why I am here - to view a Honda CRV and Toyota Rav4. The guy looks puzzled, assuming I don't know what I am talking about. He says, "huh, what are you talking about, I don't know anything about that" then he says, "oh, there's no other Mike that works here, I am the only Mike that I know that works here". He leaves and goes to the Sales building to tell the other salespeople, he returns saying, "I located who you are looking for." I wait and then finally, Mike shows up with Alex. Mike says, "weren't you supposed to be here at 3:46 pm?" I said yes, but I just called you and you said that I could come in at 1:00 pm instead. So, we both walk back over to the Sales building from the Service department. Alex is speaking very fast, saying the Toyota Rav4 isn't here, it's in service, but will be ready at 3:46 pm. He allows me to test drive the Honda CRV instead. During the test drive, he rushes me to get in, not allowing me to view the whole vehicle, but I noticed the leather was coming off everywhere. After telling him my name, he says that his mum name is that too (he wouldn't stop talking about her). Every question I asked about the vehicle, he didn't know. After the awkward test drive, I leave and return for the scheduled appointment at 3:46 pm, I arrive on the dot. When I get there, the place is empty, just a few salespeople. I tell one of the salesmen that I am here for my appointment with Alex. He says, "let me locate him". It takes 20 minutes for me to then find out that Alex is out for lunch and the Toyota Rav4 was still in service. I tell another salesperson, that I had a scheduled appointment with Alex at this time and tells me to wait until Alex texts me to tell me that the vehicle is ready to view. I leave to go home frustrated with all of these run-arounds. Later that evening, I asked my dad if Alex ever text him about the vehicle, he says no. Searching for a vehicle is already stressful, but dealing with Mazda of Clear Lake is even worse. read more

I'm giving a 2 because when I bought my car the dealership was great. It's now switched ownership. I took my car in for an oil change and the last 2 times they've told me I need to replace my rear brakes. I took the car to another Mazda dealership AND and independent shop and both times they disagreed with the report. This last time I was told my breaks are at 5mm and needed to be replaced immediately for safety concerns. When I took it for a second opinion I was told the breaks really don't need to be replaced till 3-4mm but they recommend 4mm AND actually mine measure at 7mm - on the same day, 2 hours later. Not cool, DeMontrond. My car is 5+ years old and has been reliable and a great purchase but this dealership is a NO for me. I will not be returning for my "free" oil changes that always turn up with a list of unnecessary repairs. read more

I went to buy a vehicle from this dealership. They were rude on the phone the first time I called and hung up on me when I asked when the cars I want were expected to be delivered. I spoke to AK and he was not any better. I asked for a buyers order and they finally gave it to me. They added on 587 to the car for window tint, a coupon book and to "sanitize" the car. Sanitizing a car should be done anyway. It was part of the free standard service when you buy a car. When a car is brand new you expect it to be cleaned. I asked for a contract on the items because it is required by law that any additional items added on to the car have a contract that states that it is not a requirement to purchase this item to purchase the vehicle. They refused to give it to me. The sales person had even said it was something that is provided in finance but AK outright lied and claimed that there is no contract on "accessories". I asked to speak to his manager and he said he is the manager. He is the SALES manager. Not the general manager. He refuse to let me speak to the general manager. I was willing to buy the car from them but I refuse to when they outright lie to their customers. Buyer beware! Go anywhere but here unless you like to be lied to. read more

He take me to the lots show me the car, I ask him about the price and the key to look inside, then his phone ring and he answered the phone then leave me on the lots about 20 muinute he not come back. I've bought 2 new Mazdas here, an RX-8 and a Mazda 6. While I've tended to be fond of the service department here, I'm now at the point where I've had two cars exceed 100K miles, just past their warranty, and suddenly there are major & expensive mechanical problems which essentially exceed the value of the car. With the RX-8 the engine blew a seal and the solution was a new engine. Recently with the Mazda 6, weeks past the expiration of the extended warranty it needed some sort of motor couplings replaced (I asked why this wasn't found at the prior oil change, since they supposedly perform thorough inspections, and it was suggested that I wasn't getting the "good" mechanic when bringing it in for Saturday maintenance). I just took it in for another oil change, and asked that they check on a minor vibration, and the mechanic finds multiple major problems adding up to on the order of $6K. There is no way that all of these things suddenly occurred within months of the warranty expiration, these would all have been existing conditions over the past year or more while it was under warranty. This leaves me convinced that there must be some type of collusion between the dealership and the warranty company. After thinking on this and getting progressively angry, I called and canceled most of the expensive repairs. They may need done, but I'm not going to reward this dealership with that business. My best advice to others would be to take your Mazda to another trusted mechanic in the year prior to expiration of the warranty, then ensure that all of these repairs get done while they are covered. After this experience, I'm not so sure I need another Mazda. read more

We dropped off our MX5 for maintenance. We were told the piston froze and broke the rotor while the tech was driving the car after repairs. Sorry don't buy it AND IF that was the case then the piston should have been inspected during the repairs as well as it would have been felt when pushing the piston back in. My review will be split in two parts so that people can have a true picture of Mazda of Clear Lake. It seems most Google Reviews focus exclusively on the car purchase, which is really only half the deal of buying a car. It would be like saying "It was super easy buying a TV!" and giving a place 5 stars, with complete disregard to any of the follow-ups (warranty, customer service, returns, etc). It was convenient buying a car. The process was smooth, the salesperson was nice, and they answered all of my questions. They said I would get free oil changes, which sounded great. The financing guy was trying to sell me all kinds of stuff but I opted not to get any further warranties after reading into details what the extra warranty actually covers. I would give 4 stars for the actual process of buying my car. The bad part is everything else. Those free oil changes take hours (and that is with an appointment!). On top of that, they will nickel and dime you for everything they can find during that oil change. They will look for everything that could be wrong, even though you purchased a brand new car from them 6 months ago. They will say you need to replace the oil filter, that you should get their full blown service for hundreds of dollars, that your time belt needs replacement, etc. At this point I would much rather pay for my oil change from an honest mechanic than deal with these pushy tactics. On top of that, their front desk lady had her headphones in and had her feet on the counter. I think that shows what kind of a place it is. Look at the reviews here on Yelp; I think those reviews paint a much more accurate picture. 99% of the Google Reviews focus only on the process of buying the car. read more
