I was in the market for selling a 2005 Nissan Altima - Single Owner - 124000 miles. I would rate the car in the very good condition range with the normal wear and tear associated with bumpers and body cosmetics. There was also some upholstery cleaning that can be taken care of in detailing. I went to the Start Toyota - they offered ~$2700. This was the first quote and we did not want to trade-in for any vehicle that they had, because we didn't find any. We did buy another vehicle and were looking to sell ours now. Did not want to go through the private selling hassle because I did not have the time or the expertise to do this here. So, I asked my mechanic for options and he mentioned me to try Carmax. I was hesitant, because a family friend mentioned that they were the lousiest in the business, but I did give a try I went to Carmax; lousiest experience in car dealership ever. They were the roughest bunch of people that I ever dealt with. They survive because of the aggressive advertising. Was given a quote that was $2000 less than what Kelley Blue Book (KBB) average quote was ($3,381-$4,276). Discouraged, I asked the salesman from whom I bought my new vehicle. He directed me to a second-hand car salesman that he knew. That person offered $3000. Life happened and two months went by before I could find time to clean the car and call the guy. In the interim, I felt that I should get more for the car, call it a gut feeling..... So I chanced upon the Signpost when driving on the Gulf Freeway for Texas Direct Auto (TDA). It was the best thing for selling this car that I did. Loved dealing with Michael Ham and Jamicia Ware. Ambience was very calming. Wait was 30 minutes. Quote was hassle-free and quick. Rate was closer to the mid-range of what KBB gave. Walked out happy. Keep up the good work, TDA!!!!!! read more

We have done business with Texas direct auto in the past and had been very satisfied, but we recently looked into trading in our current vehicle with them. We researched our current vehicle and based on condition, mileage etc. our research showed it to be worth a trade in value of at least $5000. Texas direct auto had a couple of vehicles that we were interested in, so we contacted them and asked about trade-in. After we gave them all of the vehicle information, they came back with a $2000 trade-in value quote. This definitely seemed way too low based on our research. We started contacting other dealerships, all of which gave us a minimum $5000 trade in quote, and discovered that these dealerships actually had similar vehicles that met our specifications that were better values than TDA was offering.. We ended up purchasing one of these vehicles - Definitely a better price point than anything TDA was offering, and we were given $5000 for our trade-in. It seems like TDA has slipped and just assumes that because they have had a good reputation in the past, they can get by on that rather than offering genuinely fair prices and trade in values. I had a very mixed experience buying my 2012 Audi Q5. I've purchased a number of used cars in the past but nothing from out of state, so some lessons learned. Overall good car with short term problems but, The dealer didn't impress me with their post sale service. First the good; 1. Really good price, about $3-4k less then my local Carmax 2. Shipped to me for free (California) - very nice! 3. Car looks good and drives great 4. Once I solve the problems it came with, this will be a great car Now the bad; 1. Car was delivered with a blown HVAC motor, the air didn't turn on at all. They did cover the cost of my local Audi dealer replacing the motor but they tout a very complete vehicle inspection and reconditioning so how did they miss this and what else was missed? 2. The wiper fluid was rancid. I mean open the hood and wow something died in there bad. When we got the HVAC motor fixed it would come through the vents and the smell was horrible in the car. Again any basic inspection would have found that. I wet-vac'd out the bad fluid and flushed it with a diluted mixture of bleach and water. 3. One week after receiving the vehicle the brake pad light went on. Weird, back to the local dealer and yes the front brake pads and rotors need replacing $950 later. Texas Direct Auto said sorry but they passed our inspection. Really? The sales agent told me everything was in perfect order nothing to change fix or repair for many miles. I guess I should have know better then to trust a auto salesman's word. 4. All 3 wiper blades were completely dried out and needed to be replaced, about $70 Conclusion So if you're buying from the from out of state I highly recommend getting a 3rd party to inspect the vehicle first and then ensure any item is fixed prior to agreeing to purchase it. You can get a good price but don't expect because they have a putting green and sell lots of cars that they will look out for your best interest. read more
