I just recently moved back to LA and was very excited to see a Carbon Health less than a mile from…read moremy house. I lived in SF and all of the Carbon Health locations there were incredibly attentive and helpful. Unfortunately, that care did not translate to this Echo Park location. Off the bat, the smoke alarm low battery warning is chirping constantly upon your arrival. Not an encouraging sign and clearly shows a lack of upkeep of the space. The receptionist checks me in quickly, while editing a video of herself on her phone. I get taken into my room fairly quickly, and make it clear that I'm there to test my ferritin levels because I am anemic and feeling consistent exhaustion, and to get a CBC. Both the nurse and the practitioner are aware that this is why I am there as we talk about my symptoms in detail. I wait FORTY minutes for the practitioner to see me, despite there being nobody in the waiting room when I check in. Finally, I step out and tell them I have another appt and need to leave ASAP. They finally acknowledge me, meet, and get the blood test finished within 5 minutes. I'm not sure if they forgot I was there or what, but I heard them all chatting and laughing the entire time I was in the room. I get my lab results quickly, within 24 hours, but realize that the lab they ordered does not include ferritin, which was the entire reason I booked the visit. $50 copay down the drain for them to not test the specific item I went for. This place is an absolute joke and I would not trust them with my medical care. Clearly all the 1 star reviews show I am not alone. I'm going to try out Tia down the street and hope they will be more responsible healthcare providers.

There was no wait - but really , they don't have anything that can help you if you have stomach issues or things that can't be fixed superficially. Will update if I get any bills in the mail for my labs!

I get there and the queue is out the door. I do the walk-in check-in and it says a 3 hour wait. If there was a rate that was below dog crap, it would be warranted.

Rang and rang the doorbell and eventually a woman came out to the street and told me the person who draws blood had gone home for the day. I asked what the deal was since I had been told the day before they were open until 4 PM - - I asked do they just draw blood when they feel like it? - - Did the person who draws blood just go home because she felt like it? The woman who had come out to talk to me was upset and apologetic but said basically yes, they just go home if they feel like it. No way to do business. Don't waste your time coming here.

Yesterday was my second visit to this facility in a couple of years. My previous visit was a good…read moreone and this time was no different. 'Relatively short waiting times and first rate doctors, both times. I was in serious trouble when I visited a year ago and they pulled me back from the edge of a possible sepsis infection. Yesterday's visit was less dramatic but Dr. Kilaghbian is an impressive doctor and I felt I was in competent hands. Based on the reviews I've read, my opinion is an outlier but I do recommend this clinic. I've encountered more than my share of poor care at hospital ER's over the years and, for me, this is a far better way to access medical care. Maybe one criticism before I go, there is lots of discussion in the reviews about the front desk staff and it might be justified. That position is critical in setting the tone for the entire patient visit. It's a tough job but manners do count for a lot and (as you can clearly see in the reviews) make a lasting impression.

EXPENSIVE and EVASIVE about billing…read more I came in here for a suspected case of strep throat. I didn't have an appointment, showed up right when they opened, and was in and out in about 45 minutes, maybe 10 of which was with the actual provider. The place was nice and I left feeling like I received great care. They said there's no copay and that the bill would be submitted to my insurance. All pretty normal. The bill came and it was for over $700, nearly $500 of which was my responsibility. There was no explanation of what the bill was for, just an amount due. I spent the next couple weeks trying to get an itemized bill to no avail. I texted the number they texted me from. No reply. I emailed the address they emailed me from. No reply. I called the billing number and got an AI assistant who said they'd provide me with an itemized bill. Nothing came. I showed up in person to ask for the itemized bill, and all the person at the counter could give me was the amount due. They said they have no other information...at the actual place that provided the service. ALL I WANT IS TO KNOW WHAT I'M PAYING FOR. That's it. I know urgent care can be expensive, but I'm not just going to throw money at it without an explanation! They get two stars only because the service was good, the place was clean, and there was little wait for a walk-in. Now this refusal or inability to provide me with a detailed bill makes me think they're up to something shady.
