Hired Delta for exterior chimney repair, garage glass block window, exterior crack repair and spot tuck pointing. The cost was reasonable. Signed the contract with 50% down mid-September. My fault for not getting a firm date in writing. Contractor said they would have it done within a month. 10/25 I e-mailed regarding the job. Response was that by the end of the week the job would be completed. It was not. I emailed again and finally the weekend of 11/7 they showed up to do the work. The workers who showed up had another company's sign on their van which leaves me to believe this was subcontracted work. The workers worked hard and the work itself seems like good quality. Being that their english was not great it was a bit difficult to communicate with them, but not impossible.
They finished on Sunday. The owner wanted to meet to go over job and get final payment. We had family in for a celebration and could not meet. Met with him on Monday. They had not completed the job as they missed many areas that needed spot tuck pointing. At first the owner balked at doing the work until I showed him that it was listed on the contract. Then he wanted to know when I was available to go over the job with his workers. Sorry I can't take off of work. So we went around the house and I showed him what type of joints should be filled.
They returned the next day and the owner assured that the workers filled those joints. He said they found about 100-spots that needed filling. My wife was home so he showed her the work and she made the final payment. She said the owner was polite as he showed her around. Hopefully despite the early cold weather those joint repairs will hold.
Delta is more than a masonry tuck pointing company. They do all types of repair and remodeling. I have a small bathroom remodel, a custom cabinet to be built, an interior stairway to be remodeled, a bathroom floor to be replaced and a hallway floor to be replaced. I was hoping they would empress me so much that I would use them for these jobs. Despite what seemed like a good price, because of the scheduling issues, use of subcontractors (not unusual for these primary type contractors), and some push back on initial contract items I'll look elsewhere. read more
