I adopted 4 PET rats from here. One died the very next day of having him home and another died this morning. They had mites which i had to bathe off of them and ALL of the have respiratory infections or something. Taking them to the vet tomorrow and hopefully my two boys still alive won't die in the night. YALL ARE TERRIBLE PEOPLE FOR NOT CARING ABOUT YOUR ANIMALS. DONT SELL SICK RATS. UPDATE: brought them to the vet and another one died even with the treatment. y'all should be ashamed of yourselves. Manager told me it was my fault for adopting them. "If they were suck why would you adopt them in the first place?" Terrible people. Something needs to be done about their customer service AND the health if the poor animals that they are supposed to be taking care of. I had three of the four rats i adopted die all within a week of getting them. THAT on top of a $300 vet fee. yall are disgusting. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Bought a Chinchilla 04/20/23 & she died 04/22/23. When we got her we noticed she was very thin, runny stool, & she had feces stuck to her feet & behind. We brought her back to show them their abuse/neglect and they would not even look at her, they did not want to take responsibility for her (and I quote them "don't buy sick animals"), yelled out policies & tried to kick me out the store. I educated them on the temp a chin should be kept at (the store was 78 that's too hot) chin should be 75 below so they turned on the air & refunded 200 of 300 DO NOT BUY FROM THEM, they are very neglectful to all their animals. Btw I have 2 dogs, 1 bunny, 1 chin, and 1 snake this is the 1st animal to pass on me. read more

Lots of good finds in this store. Literally jammed packed w fun pet finds. Lots of local people that frequent this facility. This is evident from the conversation b/t the cashier & customers. Friendly staff. Maybe a little understaffed for the number of customers. #Hurryupandwait Just a tad bit hard to find from the address as the YELP address gives the back side of the business. Went here a few days ago, they had Guinea pigs for sale that had serious mange! These guineas were in their own cage with healthy looking guineas... why sell sick pets? Then the cage was located right next to healthy looking bunny cages. This could spread kites or mange! A lot of the freshwater fish also had visible ich and fins nibbles off. I understand it is common to see an occasional dead fish in a tank... but this was just bad. How can a pet store sell sick animals. Their saltwater fish did all appear to be healthy in very clean tanks. Bummed out to see the other sick animals. I get stuff happens but keep them in the back, and give them appropriate treatment. Don't sell sick animals. Wish I took a pic. read more

They put up an act to get you to buy sick animals without warning the customer the animals are sick, and then say straight to your face about how you "shouldn't buy sick animals" after the animal dies, yet they do not say anything is wrong with them before or after your purchase when the animals are still alive. Unsanitary and horrid living conditions for the 20 or so birds the jam pack into a small cage too. This place is NOT recommended for anyone to visit to purchase animals from, unless you're willing to take every animal this place has, and shut them down for their disgusting treatment of animals. read more

DO NOT buy from this store. Cruel conditions for animals in small in unclean cages, and a friend was treated extremely rudely by staff for mentioning the living conditions of some of their animals. The woman working was unbelievably rude. I can understand having a bad day, but talk to me like I'm some sort of huge inconvenience just because I asked if you had a certain type of dog food! I had to call and confirm the brand, and when I said that she let out a nice annoyed sigh and put her hand on her hip. They were over an hour from closing, so it wasn't that I was holding up closing or something... I called and immediately had the answer and was trying to get off the phone as she shrieked into the phone regarding the size bag needed. Delta Pet Center is the dirtiest, hottest, most cluttered pet store that I have ever been in. There is one lady, who works there, that is so rude. She acts as if it's so much trouble to even answer a question. I have personally seen two dead fish in the tanks while we were at the store. They weren't small fish either. One was a puffer fish, and the other was a tropical fish. We let this woman know, and the reply was, "Oh, yeah. I know." There were several parakeets with nasal discharge and dried feces on their bottoms. The small rodents are packed together in plastic bins, so tightly, that they can hardly move. Even feeder mice deserve decent living conditions. There are also spider webs in almost every bird cage. I, nor my family, will be going back to this place. read more

My husband and I has tried this place out for a while now and every time we buy a fish it ends up dying within a week. My husband works with fish at his job everyday so he knows how to take care of them but for some reason every fish we buy there always dies. I would not recommend. Just goto persmart or petco instead because delta has lost there touch with everything. read more

We only buy feeder mice from here and three times we have been given mice so sickly our snakes refuse to eat them and then the mice just fell over and died about half hour after purchase. That and the way the reptiles are housed are my biggest grievances, but the entire store is filthy. If there was somewhere closer to get live mice that wasn't a chain I'd go there but I have not seen one. read more

The staff are friendly and very helpful. I've seen some dead fish in the aquariums, but that happens from time to time. I'm just starting with aquariums. The staff have been extremely helpful, and they have taken the time to give me great tips and knowledge. Their aquatics selection is amazing, and they have a wide variety of products. I bought a Colombian Red Tail for my daughter, Belquis, on 22 Jul he lived only two weeks. Belquis died in my hands! It looked like he was having a seizure a total loss of control of his body then he stopped moving. I nrought back to store to have them look at him and to get answers, not to get money back because Belquis became a member of our family and brought us joy. We were told we did everything right, so why did he die! Staff totally incompetent when it comes to the animals they are selling. I was left to search the internet for answers. I found a disease specific to boas and pythons, Inclusion Body Disease (IBD). It is a virus, and I'm not sure it it can be picked up or treated by a Vet. The symptoms early symptoms include mucous type stuff coming from mouth and low appetite. Belquis was in advanced stages from the description of the disease. It looked like he was staring out, stargazing, and when we feed him the one time he ate he flipped over on his back, and seemed to have problems righting himself. He died very violently yesterday, 11 Aug 2019; and like I said it looked like he was having a seizure. It was the worst thing I have seen happen to an animal. If you have recently purchased a Red Tail or any constrictor from this place take it to a vet that treats exotics ASAP! Information states it is contagious to other constrictors, not people. I do not want to anyone else to have to watch their pet die like I did. Sad part about this is the staff at Delta claim they never heard of this disease. It took me seconds of reaserch on the internet to get the answers I could not get from the people who are supposed to be "experts" since they sell reptiles. As other reviews state here they are selling sick animals, and I believe they know it! read more

I used to live in Slidell and this was the ONLY place to buy my brand of dog food. 1) the people here are rude and unwilling to help 2) the dates on much of the food is not fresh 3) I have had bugs in my food 4) the old man is nasssstttyy there. filthy long dirty fingernails 5) now I live in another city so I don't have to go there...but I started buying when I was in New Orleans or Covington The store is cluttered and dirty and dusty. I loved this place when I got my fish there was so many different types and they were sooo pretty! Many pretty colors for the fish too! The only thing I didn't like is they had tattooed mollies and that is cruel. I totally recommend going there! The fish I got is a Sailfin Mickey Mouse Platy and he is doing great! read more

I shop here all the time and bought plenty of fish from these guys. Yesterday I bought a 50 dollar fish from them. I had this fish for not even 3 hours and it was dead. I know they don't have a return policy but seeing as it was only 3 hours I gave them a call. After talking to them they said to bring the receipt and they would work something out with me. After driving from Mandeville, they said they would give me 25 percent off my next fish. Is that really how you treat your loyal customers? read more

Don't buy animals from here. The staff is very undereducated about the gender/habitat needs, which is really important when buying a new pet. Pet store employees should be able to be trusted to inform animal adopters about the managing and healthy keeping of them, but they themselves aren't knowledgable in the animals they keep. The animal I bought from here was extremely malnourished and being kept in horrid conditions for a bearded dragon. It was truly a burden because the same week I got it, it needed massive amounts of costly medical care, and it was obvious that they took advantage of me not knowing much about bearded dragons. It was clearly very ill. I should of picked up on the lack of professionalism and humane care when I noticed dead fish not being tended to in some of their tanks. read more

Perhaps all these reveiwers are simply difficult people. I have never had anything but good experiences with this place. Usually very good stock of animals as they, unlike chain pet stores, look into the pets they purchase. Perhaps if you need such a specific type of food you should order online. Pet stores can only carry what sells and is business appropriate. Not your random off the wall special food. I like this place because they are no bull, they are usually pretty knowledgeable about the animals purchased, if not they get someone who is. I have bought mostly reptiles from here, pythons, boas, and beardies. I have also purchased 2 birds and a few fishes. As well as many of the things for their habitats. The only thing I wish is they were open on Sundays and had later hours as often getting off from work then running to them before they close was hard. Either way. A good place if your not a complete pain in the ass type of person. read more
