Easy parking under the hotel in a secure garage. Friendly, smooth check in at the front desk (thank you, Keith!). Our room wasn't quite ready upon arrival so they put us in an accessible room that was, which suits us just fine. This room is so cute with a little alcove, slanted ceiling, very high on one end and sloping down to typical 8' height on the other. Beautiful view of the courtyard with dogwoods in full bloom. The room looks and smells clean and fresh, though there is certainly noticeable wear and tear from the years of use - carpet, trim and decor are somewhat dated. The little dresser looks like an antique. Everything's great w our stay this far. We're expecting a quiet night and an early morning since we are in town for a funeral. We heard about some Chinese food we can get takeout around the corner and I'm happy about that eventuality.

Never heard of an "elevator license" before! Safety first.

Stayed for four nights, huge rooms, king bed, no mini fridge, one of the oldest elevators I've ever seen, sweet staff, cafe nearby open 8-3, otherwise no restaurant or bar at this time, two free water bottles, desk is in a nice location for video calls, ice machine is broken on my floor, covered garage parking is convenient

Nice spot, free parking in a parking deck, which helped during the snowy weather. Staff was nice.

The table settings were beautifully put together and helped brighten the space while incorporating the bride and groom's taste very well. The bartenders were friendly and on top of it, serving tasty drinks efficiently. As a gluten free diner, I'm always a little nervous during group functions like this but the staff did an impeccable job of keeping me informed of my options. During the passed apps portion of the evening, the server specifically approached me with options he knew I could have. Those potato cakes? Incredible. For the seated dinner, I enjoyed the half roasted chicken. It was juicy and flavorful and probably some of the best food I've ever had at a wedding. Based on my experience as a guest, I'd definitely recommend Gatherings By Woodberry Kitchen.

For our elopement reception cocktail party, we wanted to give our guests a taste of Baltimore's charm--and we knew from the start that Woodberry was the perfect place to do it. The event space alone is gorgeous, with the quintessential exposed brick and bistro lighting, making decor easy to simply add to the vibes. Jolanta also was so helpful in encouraging us to hire a photographer and music for our event that were both affordable and really added to the party. Our guests raved about the food, and we loved having local Baltimore craft beers as well as 2 custom cocktails to make our event really feel special to us. We cannot stop thinking about how amazing our event went--we will cherish these memories forever! Thank you Woodberry for giving us the night of a lifetime!

Pros: -elaborate, aged architecture in the octagon -friendly employees -located in a safe area -affordable -convenient location -quiet -free continental breakfast -tea, coffee, and infused water stations set up throughout the day -large gym with cardio equipment, free weights, and squat racks -large windows -patio area -ample seating in common areas -comfortable, soft beds -clean rooms Cons: -small parking lot closest to the hotel, however, they also have a parking garage -we booked a room for three people, but there were only two towels in the room. They did quickly bring us another towel -the employees do not explain the amenities, except they do mention the breakfast start and end time -small offering at the breakfast (bagels, English muffins, bread, muffins, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, coffee, and tea) -large and difficult to navigate (particularly when trying to get to the fitness center) -no pool Other: -construction going on in certain areas -simple interior in the hotel and conference center (other than the octagon) Definitely would stay here again!

First, call ahead (there is no online system so you do actually have to call) to make sure they are giving tours and at what times (only certain days of the week, last tour usually starts at 1 PM). This mansion is another relic from the gilded age, however this one isn't completely stuck in the past and is a living, breathing arts venue. The last residents (she died in 1956 I think) had no children and left it to Johns Hopkins University with the specification it be used as an art museum. And there is a lot of interesting and attractive art, though it's mostly art by European white men. That's just what the owners collected . . . but our docent told us they are trying to diversify the collection by purchasing pieces by artists of color. The libraries are actually part of the Johns Hopkins collection and students can make appointments to come read them or use them for research. There are some nature books and some Audubon books that are so large that they require two people to move and turn the pages. There is also a reading room for students. It was previously their bedroom, which they didn't want displayed. There are some fun little quirky rich people things (if you dissociate from today's capitalistic hell). A 23K gold bathroom. The second wife who lived in the residence was obsessed with herself and had multiple paintings and busts of herself around the home. And her bathtub was surrounded by mirrors, including a mirror on the ceiling. A bowling alley that was turned into a display space for all their expensive artificacts. A lot of Tiffany glass. Antiquities. My admission was 10 dollars with a AAA discount. I think regular admission is 12 dollars.

I do recommend calling to confirm when a docent is available, but if one is, it is definitely worth…read morecoming. There is plenty of parking as it's a bit away from the main Johns Hopkins campus. Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and explained a lot about each room and answered all of our questions. There are a lot of beautiful and unique objects, even though unfortunately photograph isn't allowed in the good rooms. The sheer amount of books they owned and how they present them is pretty inspiring. The Garrett's having their own performance/stage area is pretty unique, and you can even rent the space out if desired. At the end, there's a great display of their Asian art collection, and then suddenly you are back in the gift shop where you started, which has some good items. The tour was more than an hour, but it was really interesting, and all the employees were excited to answer questions, so you could see their passion. It's a great tour and worth doing if in Baltimore.

It can be completely hit or miss depending on who your bartender is. And last night I witness a truly disrespectful interaction between my friend who is a WOC and one of the bartenders. I understand having a limited drink menu, but each time my friend asked for a recommendation she was responded to as if she had just spit in that woman's face. The final straw was when my friend said, "I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with most of these drinks. What do you have that is sweet?" asking for a recommendation. The bartender looked at her and said "sugar" then rolled her eyes so hard I'm surprised they didn't get stuck in the back of her head. I understand being over your job, but my friend did nothing wrong. Was not rude, and in return got spoken to like a child. I don't know what the chip on this person's shoulder was, but if you absolutely HAVE to to be vile to everyone you speak to, try a back of the house position because you are actively damaging your bar's reputation.

There was a preset menu for cocktails, mocktails, wines, and beer. Some of the mocktails were sweeter than my liking, but it was fine. The staff were awesome. The bartender was solo up until it turned into a cash bar -- she was working really hard! The music was at a great volume, and food was being passed around regularly. It's really a great space for having a private party. And on top of that, while it can fill up quickly, there's free street parking outside. I do wish the bathroom was lockable -- the stall within there is, but otherwise things could get awkward. Pro tip -- it's behind the stage.
