Now, it's American Airlines that I frequent, along with past America West Airlines and US Airways patrons. I find that, as with any other airline, customer service is often better than not, but there are always a few hiccups. With American Airlines, you can get someone on the phone, on a chat, on social media, or in person to assist, and with some respect on our part, we can often get what we need. I rarely have luggage issues, though there was one time when my bag was damaged, and American Airlines gave me a replacement while they repaired my original. I regularly fly in and out of the American Airlines gates at Phoenix Sky Harbor and frequent hubs like Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago O'Hare, Philadelphia, and Charlotte. I even make it out to Washington DC on occasion, having either visited the area or have a layover through as I did today. Often, my travels require a connecting flight, and my flights are, more often than not, on time and without delays in departure or arrival. With status, an American Airlines credit card, and membership in CLEAR and Global Entry, I do not pay for luggage, receive priority luggage handling, board early, speed through security, sometimes receive upgrades, and access lounges. Traveling has become more of a hobby and a habit, and with American Airlines as my go-to airline, I accumulate miles quickly while also earning status and Loyalty Point rewards. I have two travel premium credit cards: the AAdvantage Executive Mastercard, which offers complimentary Admirals Club access, and the American Express Platinum card, which offers lounge access, travel credits, and complimentary CLEAR and Global Entry memberships. With these two credit cards, I can access the Admiral's Club at Orlando International Airport or The Club at MCO. I may even be able to visit the Plaza Premium Lounge, though I've never checked. Also, through T-Mobile, I received free Wi-Fi on American Airlines flights (though now it is free for anyone with an AAdvantage account). Through my American Airlines AAdvantage status, I get upgrades or free paid snacks and drinks on flights, along with other benefits. To retain status each year, you need to earn Loyalty Point through flying, credit card spending, and promotions. You can also earn Loyalty point rewards after hitting 175,000 points, 250,000 points, and so on. While it is difficult to receive upgrades due to the large number of people at the Executive Platinum status tier, the benefits I do receive are worthwhile. I have also experienced technical issues on flights, but not enough to cause me to abandon American Airlines, especially when every other airline faces the same challenges. All in all, American Airlines is a great company and does as well, if not better than, any of the other major airlines.

Customer Service certainly could improve. But part of that service, in addition to the reps who you…read morespeak to on the phone, is having a RELIABLE flight schedule. I am looking at Yelp reviews from 4 years ago which sound exactly like my experience today. A delayed flight in Vermont caused a group of 4 to miss our connecting flight, which inexplicably decided to leave 10 minutes EARLY as we were RUNNING to our gate. Unnecessary. Then we call the airline and get some rude woman and then her rude supervisor, neither of whom knew American Airline's policy on accommodation when THEIR flight delay caused us to be stranded in D.C. overnight. They both told us we didn't qualify for hotel rooms and food vouchers, which was not correct. Finally I called and got a different representative with completely different results. This morning we arrived at the airport hours early and...you guessed it, our flight is delayed once again. I hate Frontier Airlines for their predatory bag fees, but American Airlines' issue is customer service based. DO BETTER AA. Do better! Monitor your customer service reps calls. And get your flights on schedule. People spend a lot of money on travel plans. The airline flight schedule should NOT be unreliable. I will be very wary of using this airline in the future. I certainly cannot recommend it.

Very disappointed with Delta Air Lines and their lack of transparency…read more Delta changed the departure time of our Utah trip, and although they considered it "only" a 30-minute change, it significantly impacted our plans. We were driving overnight from the Boston area to Virginia before flying out of BWI, and that change made our schedule extremely tight. When we contacted Delta, changing flights would have cost over **$300 per ticket**, so cancellation was presented as the only practical option. What the agent did **not** clearly explain was that canceling would result only in an eCredit--not a refund to our original form of payment. That is important information customers deserve to know before making a decision. This trip was planned to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday, and we have since made alternate arrangements. The eCredit provides little value and unnecessarily ties up our funds. What is especially disappointing is that we had a completely different experience with **Frontier Airlines** for a similar situation involving a minimal schedule change. Frontier provided a refund option, while Delta--a premium airline--failed to provide the same level of flexibility and customer care. I reached out to Delta twice requesting reconsideration and received no response. Customers deserve transparency, consistency, and support when changes are initiated by the airline. Delta needs to do better.

Why 5 stars? Delta Airlines Staff and Crew on Outgoing flights at IAD are great…read more I have had to fly in and out of IAD on Delta the past few months and everyone that works there is top notch. From the check-in desk, to the ground staff that takes your bags to the flight crews and pilots that take care of you I have had no issues. On a flight out this past week, I had noticed that one of the pilots gave a small child a pair of "wings" from his go-bag and I thought that was a great idea. I remember being so excited about this when I flew as a child, but haven't seen a pilot do that in say 20+ years openly. I made a remark that it was a really cool idea and would like to give my son some wings someday and the flight attendant asked what seat I was in. A half hour out of IAD, here comes the flight attendant with wings for my 2 year old son. In the high stress environment of travel it is important to note the good along with the bad and everyone can do much better with a random act of kindness or help. Thank you Delta @ IAD. The only 'complaint' I would have is when people were lining up everyone was lining up the wrong line due to the markers for the lines being unclear. With the arrows on the bottom pointing to the left at where to line up, you can't see once 2 or 3 people are in line. See my photo for detail. Something a little minor but thought it would be nice to point out for other travelers.

For my 600th review, I decided to Yelp a business that has received tens of thousands of dollars…read morefrom me. That business is Korean Air. I've watched this airline transform from an okie doke airline that barely met the safety and service marks that Americans have come to enjoy, to a contract carrier that was able to get a bit of the military business until it was banned for it's poor safety record and many complaints of poor service. Woken up from it's arrogance, Korean Air mounted a massive campaign to get its safety ratings up, it's service improved, and get itself onto a few "frequent traveler" popularity lists. They largely succeeded - however, I have a few bones to pick with them. First, the rigid culture and how it seeps into their service. Koreans tend to observe rules and regulations to the "T". While casual observers tend to note that this isn't the case when visiting Korea, people who work businesses and deal in customer service will see that they will not break rules, "let things go this time," etc. What really irritated me was the idea that those on a discount ticket (in my case, military) would automatically be relegated to the rear cabins of the plane. If you've ever taken a 747 overseas, you'll know that if you're in the back, you might as well not get up as they have to disembark over 300 people before you along with their multitudes of bags and other items. Oh - and the back row treatment applies even if you're at an elite or premium level of membership for their frequent flier programs. Other airlines would let you choose premium seating, but not with this crowd if you bought a discount ticket. Period. Second, the tremendous difference in traveling classes. Normally, if the other bathrooms are full in coach, the first class cabin will let you slip in and go to their bathroom on an American flagged carrier - they feel it's better to have a satisfied customer who didn't have to piss on themselves. Not Korean Air. They'll intercept you in a heartbeat. Maybe they don't want you to see the other treats they give those in first class for fear of a riot. Who knows. If you pay for it, I don't mind that you're eating cheese or off of bone china. But come on, it's a bathroom. Finally, those uniforms. Man, I know they've been trying to get themselves to be distinct, but those uniforms don't work on those girls' figures. The skirts look cheap - almost like they're dressed in a matte patent leather. At least the guys got to stay in suits. Oh - and those neck scarves - I got poked in the eye because they're starched so hard when a stewardess leaned over to cancel my attendant call button. I think I've had enough with these guys. Really, it serves a purpose if I'm on a shoestring budget and don't mind dealing with impatient passengers, fake-friendly flight attendants, and the rigid adherence to company policies. Now that I make my own money and am not spending the 'rents money - I think I'll spring for a business class ticket on another airline and get treated better - and not have to sit in row 58.
