My husband and I have flown with Delta Airlines from Pittsburgh's airport many times over the years. Most recently, we flew with this airline in 2026. We went to Delta's check-in counter. Because our flight was international, we could not use a machine ourselves to scan our passports. However, the employee behind the counter promptly and courteously checked us in. Later, at Delta's gate for our flight, my husband and I sat in chairs and waited to board the airplane. In the seats we found electrical outlets so we could charge our cell phones. At boarding time, we scanned our tickets at the counter, and the employee interacted nicely with us. The airplane departed on time. Prior to landing in our next city, the flight attendant told my husband to move up his seat, but it was already up, and we could not move it up much more. read more

I've flown Delta in and out of Pittsburgh forever. It's always been a good experience. In the event of delays, they try their best to be accommodating. I really have no complaints at this point. read more

Delta Air Lines - Airlines Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

When initially purchasing a Delta seat, upgrading to First Class is usually quite expensive. Therefore it is rare that they sell out their first class seats initially. When Delta doesn't sell all those first class seats early on (typical), Delta will do a "reverse auction" by continually lowering the price of those first class seats, until all the seats are sold.Usually at rock bottom prices. But Delta doesn't want their best customers / Diamond Medallion to see how cheaply they are selling those seats to random customers, so they block us (Diamond Medallion / Loyal customers) from being able to upgrade to First for a fee. On the app, all those first class seats are just X'ed out and unavailable to us!! So next time all you diamond medallion customers are sitting in comfort plus, and wondering who paid those huge prices to get into first class, please know that those are mostly non-loyal customers that bought the seat very inexpensively!! And those inexpensive seats were never made available to you, Delta's best customers! Delta does not take care of the best customers. If I was more motivated, I would post about this a lot. I will start now. I've already started flying other airlines. read more

This review is strictly about delta and not the airport. I flew from Pittsburgh to Laguardia airport New York. I got to the gate early and everything as fine. There was an announcement that the plane was delayed 10 minutes. Generally not a big deal at all. All the passengers boarder approximately 10 minutes late. Unfortunately we all sat on the plane at the gate for another 50 minutes. The stewards did not say anything and there was no announcement as why there was a delay????. The plane was completely full and the passengers where packed in like sardines. They did not serve anything at all on the flight not even peanuts. Hopefully this flight was an exception for Delta. read more

I guess when you think of an airline as a whole you need to think about it in terms of the specific airplane that you are about to take. As an overall, Delta seemed to deal with the day to day tasks in a timely manner. Never did I see them get flustered. They dealt with everything as it came. As for the flights, like I said, it depends on the plane you are on. For my flight from Pittsburgh to Atlanta you can tell that it was an older model plane that didn't really have all the amenities that makes it a great flight. For my connecting flight to New Orleans the plane was newer. Which meant that the plane offered tons of great amenities. Screen to watch a show, play a game, or just watch the flight on its path. With that there was also a USB port and electrical outlet. Charging while you can't use your phone made for a great use of my time. Small snacks provided on the short legs of the flight. Wifi available for free if you are using it for messaging. Pay a little and you get full Wifi capabilities. read more

Horrible cheap company! Put the Air Conditioner on, it's hoton thePlane, Horribly Hot, not cool. Planes are never on schedule. There is no sense of urgency in the part of the employees. It helps me to remember why we usually fly Southwest Airlines. They have the best customer service. read more

Delta airline is great. I had two wounded soldiers with me on a trip. I called to see if they had any questions due to the fact that one of the soldiers lost both legs in battle. They stopped what they were doing and upgraded both soldiers to comfort plus for the entire trip. They also called me the day before each trip and asked if there were anything they could do for the guys Just to top it off they let their bags fly free. Way to go Delta!!!! read more

Delta=Atlanta! This is their hub and whatever happens in Atlanta nine times out of ten will happen at most of the other cities. I have had both good and not so good experiences with the airline especially since most of the time it involves my husband. Anytime I do fly with them I find my flight experience enjoyable. They have a small snack and beverage service on the flights and they offer Wi Fi for an additional fee. My advice on that one-if your flight is 2 hours or less then don't bother with it. Use your portable device instead to watch something, play music, or play a game. Lately I've been flying first class due to knee pain and I find it helpful. Some of the on board perks you get there in addition to wide comfortable seating are free bevvies and a larger selection of snacks. You still don't get the Wi Fi for free. Delta, however, has encountered many problems such as last year's power outage or in my most recent case the tornado that hit Atlanta prior to my NY trip. When I learned 2 days prior to my trip that T-storms were in the forecast it took nearly an hour to reach them by phone. Since they were advising people to get out one day earlier at no change fee I took advantage of the offer since I wanted to be in NY when the storm hit rather than sit all day at Pittsburgh International. Still keeping our first class seats we are given what they call "sky priority" which is supposed to be a shorter line for check in with your baggage drop. Note this perk will not give you TSA pre check which I had hoped would help me on the return. Anyways when my daughter and I arrived to check in at the sky priority line, we saw the agent was on the phone. Apparently, I learned he had been on the phone 30 minutes because Hartsfield Jackson (Atlanta) had cancelled many of their flights due to the tornado that hit there that day. I took her and waited in the regular line seeing as they did not have any other agents to handle us. At least we were able to get checked in and get to departure gate on time. Our return was a different story since for some reason we saw a sign over the gate we were to depart from change over to another terminal. After we hiked over there we learned no such change took place. I went to their help desk and found the line overwhelming. La Guardia does have one button phones there so I used that to get this whole matter straightened out. We ended up departing from our original gate after all. We never have had a problem with lost luggage which I am thankful for.Usually the luggage is there waiting for me depending upon the city. The planes I have flown are usually small but it gets me there safely and that's all that matters. The only other issue I have with them is if I have an early am flight out of Pittsburgh. I allow ample time at the terminal but it seems like no one is there even though I see other airline carriers are already serving passengers. They do open up and I find that I am still able to make it over to the airside terminal. I would dread this problem if I were in another city. Delta will try to accommodate as best they can if your flight is cancelled or delayed. Sometimes they can put you on the next available flight. Other times they will give you cash vouchers which can be used for future flights. The latter has happened countless times with my husband since he travels quite frequently to and from Atlanta. I am part of their skymiles program where your miles can convert to lower airfares depending upon how much you accrue. With their AE skymiles card I am able to check one suitcase for free and if I am not traveling first class then I would be in the first section to board after the first class and their higher card levels have boarded. You are assigned seats so you can check in anywhere from 24 hours before your flight. read more

We flew out of Pittsburgh International Airport to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport on a Delta Airlines flight this past week. We were at Gate D78 of PIT. Our plane was a small regional jet. It was a hot day out, and the plane had virtually non-existent air conditioning. It was very hot and humid on the plane, and everyone was complaining and asking the flight attendant if they could turn on the AC. Her response to us is that it would cool off as soon as we were Airborne. Well, that did not happen. First, the overhead vents put out so little air, it was pathetic, and the air that was coming out, was not very cool. The entire flight was very uncomfortable and myself and everyone around me was looking forward to getting to the Airport so we could get out of this sauna. What made it even worse was that we got to the Cincinnati Airport, pulled up to the Gate, and then the pilot informed us that the Terminal was in a Security lockdown due to an unspecified emergency - and no one was allowed to deplane. So we had to sit there for approximately an additional 15 minutes on a disgustingly hot Airplane with no AC. I have to wonder if all Delta flights are like this. Delta - you should be ashamed of yourselves. Fix the AC on your planes! read more

I believe the major airlines are all about the same. Flight delays, prices, customer relations, condition of the airplanes, etc. are subject to every airline. Southwest may be the best but even they can have problems. I give Delta a 4 because they do one thing I really like and appreciate. They give out free pretzels, peanuts or cookies with their drinks. United stopped doing that years ago along with American. Last year while on a rare Delta business trip my flight was delayed flying through one of their hubs due to weather. When I arrived at my departure gate a Delta gate agent was serving free soft drinks and peanuts, cookies and pretzels to the waiting customers. I usually fly United because I live in Houston and therefore my opportunity for non stops and flight availability is best. But I do appreciate the little things like Delta does..... read more

On hold now with Delta customer rep for 5 hours, 35 minutes and counting.... Sounds unbelievable, but no joke!

Disappointed experience. DELAYS: I received a text that the flight was DELAYED 3 hours as I pulled into the airport parking lot. As I got breakfast and did my fb; another text that there was another DELAY. This time DELAID for 5 hours. A pre booked flight at 9:00 am left at little after 5:00 pm. 8 hours late and a day waisted. That was just the beginning. The plane was old and the overhead baggage compartments were to small to accept newer carry ons. Besides the backpackers we had to check and later retrieve what should have been conveniently with us to baggage claim. Because of the delays the whole plain had to run quite a distance to catch a connecting flight. Now running is good exercise unless you have a bad knee and have to use a cane like me. Everyone including the flight attendants were in a bad mood. read more

I fly Delta a lot, more than any other airline. It's not necessarily planned. It just turns out that they are usually going where I want to go and they generally have the best flights times and prices, (this does sometimes require extra searching to get those best prices). They have a good on-time performance ratings. And their flight attendants and pilots seem friendly and competent. Sure, they once failed to deliver my lost bag the next day, as promised 150 miles from the airport, which they said would be no big deal. I later received a check in the mail for the inconvenience and replacement emergency items helped make me feel a little bit better. I always book on line. I have been known to select a particular flight based on seating. I hate nothing more than that airline that makes you have to scramble for a seat. I, Julie D. like to know where I will be sitting, next to BJ. And on the aisle. Last year, we were flying out west on a last minute flight and weren't able to get seats together, But our gate agent was like Monte Hall and was able to zone in on the right customer to get us together. And this was at a very tough time for Julie D. And their consideration was much appreciated. One of the best benefits of flying Delta doesn't even come from Delta, it comes with having an AMEX credit card. I am able to collect additional frequent flyer miles, which have bailed me out of a situation or 5 or 10 more times that I care to recite. Another benefit is receiving a yearly companion certificate. I am able to bring B.J. along at a discounted rate. We used it last year flying to Southern California and this year we were able to get a direct flight to Minneapolis at an affordable rate. Another benefit is priority boarding. We always get to board as Zone 1 which is very nice. We get the first shot at the overheads. And everyone traveling with me can check a free bag. Delta SkyMiles American Express was named top loyalty credit card in the Americas region for 2012. So, I am not the only customer happy with it. What keeps Delta from getting that extra star from me is some of their policies. When you are flying Delta, you better be sure that you are going when and where you book, when you book. Because you aren't going to like Delta if you need to change or cancel. read more

Pittsburgh Bound! Part II (For Part I, go to: http://www.yelp.com/review_share/7sxYa0-TwWeWGFr5CvMMkw/review/5ZHcKPExMO1jAyfWQ1tSUg?fsid=i0GKdUoZ0yN42xyrBTH4Gw) I am not in the least bit surprised that there are 500+ reviews here with every other one being a 1 star, then 5 star, then 1 star, etc. People who don't travel well or often tend to nitpick the slightest inconveniences. When you go on a trip, you will encounter a countless number of people in your attempt to get from the parking lot to your gate. From the rental car cashier, to the curb-side concierge, to the TSA agent in charge of protecting us and our families, remind yourself that these people barely have GED's much less a high school diploma. Mistakes will occur and feelings will get bruised. Bags lost? It's happened to the best of us, and the recovery rates are extremely high. Sorry you can't wear that NASCAR tank-top to dinner tonight. Subway will just have to revel in your "guns" another time. Children weren't treated nicely? I saw this a few times and have no idea what the staff did or didn't do to make your crotch-monkey more comfortable. In my opinion, that's your job. Delayed lift-off? Storms (and not just ones in the city you happen to be standing in, dumbass) have effects on air travel that you would only understand if you were caught in the midst of it. Not that it matters, because if the plane encountered a storm, you would probably bitch and moan that the flight should have been delayed. As much as I hate the airline industry, I feel for the Catch-22 they're in. So now that we've come to the understanding that Shit Happens, and knowing that your day is most likely going to be destroyed due to your high expectations, you might as well choose the best of the worst, Delta. I was a staunch Continental customer for years while I was traveling for work, but living in Atlanta, a Delta hub city, certainly has its benefits (no layovers for a change). Since moving here, I've only flown a handful of times, all on Delta, and have had a great experience with each and every trip. This particular flight to Pittsburgh was, how should I say it? Interesting. I can't completely knock Delta for this particular flight, because it wasn't their fault, but I booked late and was forced to go with a middle seat. The woman in the window seat boarded before me, and we had a little small talk as the remainder of the plane made their way on. I kept my eye on the line, hoping that each attractive woman approaching my row would sit in the aisle seat adjacent to mine. It never happens, but a boy can dream can't he? Each pretty girl passed by without providing so much of a hint of seat 14A being their home for the next hour and eleven minutes. Then I saw him. (READ ON - 5000 character limit is screwing me over. I'm a business traveler, and get to sample all the airlines. I've flown Delta for 20+ years. They are doing very well these days. What's Good: - They do "traditional air line" well - I get to pick a seat, I get a drink and some pretzels, etc. - Their planes are clean and appear well maintained. - The service is great - employees are helpful and friendly. What's Not Good: - They still have a few really old planes. They work, but they're ugly. - Their boarding process is too old-school. Look at how Southwest does it (i.e., give people lines, let them line up, rather than crowing in a huge mob near the door!). - They have a fee for everything. Just charge me $10 more and then give me "free" stuff please! read more

Here I go again delta is the absolute worst airline ever I have been sitting here for over an hour and a half only been waited on once and said it was coming that was an hour ago like come on. Another delivery leaving hours late because of delta. I will never use this airline outside of when I have to for work Always an issue at the baggage claim nothing ever on time have to come here al lot for work and every time it's so terrible. Flight will land at 10:30 wait an hour for it to get situated and it will always be late. It messes with my delivery times when our packages fly delta every single time. WTF Delta?! It's bad enough that there is barely any space on your flights, but why is that almost every week (90% of the time) my flight is either delayed or canceled from PIT to LGA. I either have to wait for the next flight, which is 6AM the next day or drive back home. Which, after working all day, I am not in the mood for a 6hr drive. What makes it worst is that I don't get any compensation, they don't pay for my hotel if I decide to stick around and wait, nor do I even get bonus points or something. The only reason I stick around is because i am a medallion member and I enjoy first class if I'm there. Unlike Jetblue, who has extremely comfy seats and legroom, but follows a communist/everyone's equal stance lol. Bottom line....get it together Delta. read more

I cannot rate Delta Airlines as a whole but I can rate my recent direct flight into Paris using Delta. I wish there was negative stars because I would give this airline such a negative rating not only based on one experience but on multiple ones. I've been traveling for years and this is the WORST AIRLINE EVER! They lost my luggage before about 3 years ago when i flew from california to south carolina to visit my boyfriend back then/now husband. Last august, I was supposed to go to NYC from pittsburgh for my best friends bachelorette and guess what? Delta screwed that up for me because of multiple delays. I did not make it to the bachelorette, and I was a bridesmaid. delta sucks! They did compensate and give me $100 due to the inconvenience but that $100 can only go towards another delta flight. Pretty useless if you decide to nevwr fly delta again. so after much anxiety of wondering whether I should give delta another chance, I did because I had to use the $100 voucher. This time it was a trip to punta cana for my own wedding last week. They are not accommodating at all! They charge you $200 per person to change any leg of your flight or for any change. When I could just use Southwest and they don't charge me for any changes. for many years of my traveling experience, delta is the worst airline. they have the most delays and again they do not compensate. At least US Airways put my friends and I in hotels if they have a delay. Delta will tell you sorry and let you sleep on the uncomfortable airport chairs, which happened to me and my mom about 8 years ago in chicago. Going back to the punta cana experience. Our flight was delayed by about 4 hrs. We were on the plane on the runway for 3 hrs. not moving. I slept and woke up and we haven't left punta cana. We bought a ditect flight to pittsburgh that should've taken us only 3.5 hours gate to gate, but it turned out to be an 8-9 hr flight because they also decided to stop in atlanta to change crews. i understand about regualtions for pilots and crews but they should've told us about this detour before landing. On top of that, all the passengers have not had any dinner and delta did not even feed us and had the face to announce that they ran out of ice for drink service. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BAD AIRLINE! Funny thing also is that my husband and I flew first class from pit to punta cana and they e-mailed me a survey asking about my experience but when it came down to being on economy/coach class, they didn't even bother. basically, they just want to hear about good experiences probably because they only treat first class people nicely and do not care about economy people. will never fly delta again. read more

My husband and I few down to Bradenton/Sarasota to watch Spring Training and... Wait, wait wait! Our flight out of PIT was... 1) On the actual airline (Delta) and 2) Not a contracted out flight on a subsidiary carrier (Comair or Pinnacle) and 3) On a full-sized jet and not 4) On a turboprop or regional jet ("Puddlejumpers" my dad calls 'em). Wow! Oh well! We still had to connect in Atlanta both ways though. Because as you know, you can't get a direct flight out of PIT to anywhere, at anytime. Seemingly that is. read more

I do love Delta. But if they have the ability, they will always over book the plane. I watched this airport staff scramble to seat passengers for three different Atlanta bound flights. I was #1 on standby for each, so it didn't matter whether I got on or not. I did not get on any early flights and ticketed passengers were pissed that they didn't get on. How can it be cost effective to give away $400.00 vouchers, food and hotels for a cheap flight? My ticket cost 400.00 and it was a first class ticket. I used to travel a LOT, all around the world, flew with over a dozen different airlines, and through all kinds of interruptions or delays, though I have NEVER had such a bad experience as we just had this past week. Our Delta flight was delayed for 1.5 hours "due to severe weather" while United, Southwest and other airlines took off for same destination without any problem... So we waited in line to make sure we have our connection taken care of, and we waited for almost 2 hours with the same 5 others waiting in front of us, a line that was not moving for over 1 hour. When we finally got to the counter, we were told we would be fine as we would have 20 min to catch our connecting flight. So we proceeded to the gate, where we waited again for over 1 hour to get our seats assigned. And waited for boarding. Before boarding started, we were told the bathrooms on the plane were out of order, so we better use the restrooms at the airport before getting on the plane. Then we finally boarded the plane. But there was no air flow with a completely packed plane, we were then told they were maintaining the plane to fix the bathrooms. Another 30 min later, we were told that they "couldn't locate the pilot", and after a while, we were told that "we did you a favor to let you on the plane, but feel free to get off if you want" as there still wasn't any airflow... another 30 min later, an attendance came down and said he knew nothing about what's going on, and he opened the emergency door in the back to allow some air in, another 30 min passed, and we were told not a single pilot, any pilot, can be found, and in fact, they couldn't get through to the dispatcher at all... and we need to deplane.... out at the gate, lines formed again to try to find alternatives, and by this time, 6 hours after we got to the airport, we were told there is a possibility for our flight to be cancelled, and they cannot find any seat for any of us to get out of this airport for another 3 days at least... it took another hour or so before we finally were told the flight is officially cancelled, and the best Delta can do is to refund our cancelled flight, and some people even have trouble getting that, or their checked bags.... As we were told there is no seats available on any airline, any plane to get out of Pittsburgh for the next 3 days, we had to rent a car to drive to another airport, and get a hotel for a few hours, and get on the next flight with another airline at twice the usual cost, and more cost with parking, etc., and Delta would not cover any of that... WORST AIRLINE and WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! read more

Flown with Delta Airlines 7-31-2016 Myself and my wife arrived at Fort Lauderdale airport at 8am from departing the beautiful Allure of the Seas. We arrived with optimism at the airport when Delta Airlines staff advised that we would be able to make an earlier flight by upgrading our ticket each for fifty dollars a piece. We got to the first gate and had lunch with hopes of making there flight. Much to our day of dismay we were told the flight was overbooked and that the Airlines was looking for customers to take a later flight. The start of the downhill slide into frustration and disappointment. The following four upgraded flight times as a matter of fact each meet the same criteria as above. Finally we decided to go on our original flight of 502 pm. That feeling of happiness was coming back once we say in our seats, however it turned to quick disappoint to find that we were going to wait on the tarmac for a period of one and a half hours. We came to the conclusion that our layover in Atlanta (which happens to be the busiest airport in there world) was going to filled with more heartache. When we got the OK to leave thoughts of positivity came back once we we're airborne. As soon as we landed in Atlanta a text came to my phone saying that the intended flight was delayed. Once we stepped off the gangway the mad onslaught of people ensued and the rat race began to find our new intended gateway. Flight time was now going to be 910 pm hooray! This notion was quickly dispelled as once we got on the plane the pilot stated we had no fuel and so the delayed await came about. It was not until 1053 did we leave land and headed on the last stop to home. There pilot at least started we would arrive in Pittsburgh a few minutes after midnight. What a day to burn the midnight oil after taking my beautiful wife on our honeymoon. This day was nothing but pure disappointment and failure in the airline I'll make sure to share my story and disapprove of Delta Airlines. By the way, I made use of my time using this clever notes app on my iPhone so please excuse my spelling and grammar. Thanks for reading and God Bless. Please share if you had a similar experience.
