We flew premium economy on delta from LAX to OGG and it was a relatively smooth flight except for maybe half was through when there was some turbulence and they had to move us from 34k feet to 36k and then finally to 38k feet for the rest of the flight. I usually fly Alaska, Hawaiian or United from OGG to LAX but found Delta was offering a cheaper flight so decided to give it a whirl. I'm glad I did as I was pleasantly surprised. As it is a short flight I usually buy el cheapo tickets so I don't get to choose my seat. I was in the last group on the plane and easily found an overhead place for my backpack. Outward bound I was lucky to score an exit aisle seat! Yay, perfect seat without having to pay extra :) The plane was new, well equipped, offered a good selection of free drinks and snacks (cookie, pretzels, sun chips or health bar - no nuts!) along with movies on a seatback screen. Every member of staff was friendly and when I ordered a tonic it came in a small can so the cabin crew member gave me 2 to get a full glass :) Fevertree tonic, my fave and expensive on island! LAX to OGG was a middle seat but I was el cheapo so I wasn't worried. Same great service and staff and a newer plane. The gates for Delta at OGG are at the end of the concourse so you have good walk to stretch your legs and there are a few convenience stores to buy a coffee and snacks at that end too. I was happy with the cost of my el cheapo flight = service and flight. I will happily fly Delta again. read more

I always enjoy flying with delta. We got to the airport early for our flight and we needed to check one of our bags. When we got there the delta desk was not open yet. As soon as a worker got there they made sure to help us right away. We had plenty of time before our plane was going to departure. Because our bags were a carry on size and our flight was going to be full they offered to check our bag for free as well as our second bag to our final destination. All delta employees we encountered on our trip were very nice and we have nothing negative to say. read more

After flying Delta's One Suite, there was no doubt that their product was superior to other first class product from other Airline's. (Except for Jet Blue's Mint Studio, which I have yet to fly) I formerly flew with Hawaiian, but they need to get with the program with regards to first class product. It all begins with no Delta Club entrance for 1st Class passengers. That's weird, I could've sworn I just spent $1K+ for my seat. WOW! My very initial First Class seat on Delta began several weeks ago. The First class Stewardess, who was a young male, asked what I would like to drink before take off. I replied, give me your "Signature" drink. His reply was, I'm not sure what that is? I didn't either, so I asked for a Rum & Coke. The type of Rum I requested they did not carry. Another Wow! Where the hell am I? I said to myself. So I politely said, just give me a Coke...you do have that, right? LOL! Next, I made myself comfortable in my seat. They advertise that they clean very well due to COVID-19 and even give a little show of it on their onboard screens, which they call the Delta Standard. NOT! It's more like the Delta Non-Standard. I first opened a compartment that held the remote for the monitor and there were crumbs all over that compartment. There's more, but will not waste more of your time. Finally, after calling their 800# (800-323-2323) Reservations Line, it said I would wait 1hr & 43min...I waited 2hr & 23min and still no one answered. My cell battery was at 100%, but then dropped to 87%, so that's a plus, I guess. Hold music sucks as they play the same thing over and over. Anyone could easily have a great mix of other elevator music. read more

Iam giving Delta 5 stars because they have always come thru for me and my family over the many years. I am a PTSD survivor of Hawaiian Airlines and their smokescreen of Aloha , so I understand how it feels to be taken advantage of . Sometimes Delta costs a bit more but they have always been helpful, accommodating, reasonable - and to this date it has not cost me more $ to alter things. Our flight from Maui to Seattle was absolutely terrible. It was so hot and the air smelled stale the entire time I felt so sick. I asked the flight attendant Nancy for a cup of water before they gave drinks out. I was already on the plane 2 hours and didn't get anything. She gave me the dirtiest look and didn't say anything at all. She angrily got me a cup of water. A little while later my boyfriend had to use the restroom and couldn't figure the door just like I couldn't. All airline doors are different for bathrooms. Nancy started yelling push push push not pull!!!!! My boyfriend was very upset about it but didn't say anything. Then on the same flight another blond woman was also rude and gave me attitude when I was moving out of the way for someone else to get their seat. 250 people is way too much for an airplane! I felt sick after an hour with everyone coughing, farting, crying, and sneezing. Also the plane was so old and outdated you couldn't hear anything when plugging the headphones in. The next flight was better going to fairbanks from Seattle because we got upgraded for free to comfort class. And there was only about 30 people. The flight attendants were a little nicer. Gate agents were lovely, however Minneapolis based flight attendant crew gets the 2-star rating in addition to the old aircraft with no individual air vents. The flight was supposedly going to be delayed according to the airport monitors but then was boarding at the regularly scheduled board time as I approached the gate. Then as I was boarding the flight attendants were neither friendly nor helpful - I overheard several snarky comments from three of them, implying a team dynamic of general unprofessionalism. This was a first for any customer service oriented group I have ever encountered on the island of Maui. I can understand why Delta is trying to rebrand, but it needs to come from the inside out as well as the outside in. There is a reason why people enjoy Southwest Airlines so much. Customer service is a huge priority over there. Also, who uses a 757-200 with no individual air vents for flights to and from a very hot and humid location?! These seems like the worst decision for patrons and longevity of the plane interior, not to mention and food and body odors brought onto the plane! As we were pushing back from the gate the female flight attendant passed by my row and a boy got up to use the restroom. Feeling an emergency restroom situation I got up to go to the back only to have the female step into the aisle from the galley, food crumbs all over her mouth to say loudly "well I can't let everyone go!!" I'm amazed to see all the low rating for Delta, but then I realized that everyone who has a problem comes onto Yelp and has their cathartic release. Those people who are generally happy -- but not especially so don't take the time. So as a Diamond Medallion who has flown to Helsinki, London, Copenhagen, Sydney, Pearth, Melbourne, LA, SF, Portland and Seattle in the past six weeks, I have to say that my flights have nearly all been on time -- only the domestic ones in Australia on Virgin Australia -- were late and (knock wood) my baggage made it each time, actually off the plane first due to the priority status gives frequent fliers. Delta also put me on the TSA Precheck so now going through security in most cities is super fast. Delta upgrades me often. My biggest positive with Delta however is the culture of the people, from flight attendants to pilots to gate agents, I find them to be friendly and helpful. Obviously not every single one, but we all have off days. Most every time I travel, at least 75% of the Delta employees I interact with say "Thank you" for your business. This is an entrepreneurial aspect of a culture that seems amazing to me for such a large airline. read more

Delta operates about 15 flights per day out of Kahului covering about 8 mainland cities. The service is excellent and the "Red coats" are some of the best in the entire Delta system. The planes seem to be mostly 757's with newer interiors and a large "Economy Plus class" with newer, nicer seats. Service is wonderful and the gate personnel go out of there way to make departing palatable and arriving to paradise wonderful! read more

Flight 2222 Maui/LAX was canceled yesterday (9.13.16) at 8pm. It's now the next day 6:30am and still no rescheduled flight. Last night Delta told us not to go to hotels on our own because they were waiting for hotel vouchers which never came. Passengers slept on floors and chairs. At 4am they brought out 4 baskets of 4 varieties of burgers for breakfast. I asked if any were veggie burgers. They said, "so sorry, no veggie option." Been traveling now for 24-hours straight with no end in sight. It'll be at least another 24-hours before a shower and bed. Oh, and Delta is mailing $100 checks to passengers for the inconvenience. Bought a full vacation package through Delta for a wedding in Maui, and it's safe to say that in the future I'll avoid the airline entirely. The car rental and condo worked out perfectly, but I'd rather pay a little more and fly a more accommodating airline. The majority of the wedding party flew Delta due to the lower rates, and just about every person flying from each destination had stories to tell once we all arrived and met in Hawaii, and each story comes down to the same thing - Delta overbooks and doesn't have the ability to properly accommodate. From the start, I received a call that our flight had been canceled and that they could get us to our destination 10 hours later on another flight. We paid more and chose a pricier flight specifically so that we could arrive in Hawaii in the morning and have a full day. They were able to work with us and flew us out to the layover destination the night before after I expressed that we really preferred to get there much earlier. They put us in a hotel and assured us it was near the airport and a nice place to stay. We appreciate the gesture, but this hotel was in a very unsafe area and was really crummy. Had we known we'd be staying in such a unsafe area, we would have happily paid the hotel bill to ensure staying in a good area. If you're going on a short flight and end up on one of the older crafts, it's not so terrible, but if your flight is a long one, prepare to be packed in tightly with almost no room to move - and I'm a very tiny person. It's an unfortunately uncomfortable. Each time we prepared for the flight, it turned out the flight was overbooked and many people were told they would have to wait until the end to determine if they would still have a seat. This happened to us on one of the flights. Our flights were booked several months in advance and we HAD seats assigned. No one would explain what was going on and we just kept being told to wait it out and we would see what would happen. We were the last two of the list to make it on the plane. But others didn't have the same luck. Additionally, I specifically pack light to avoid lost baggage and the long wait at baggage claim. I take my two allowable carry ons just about every time I fly. For whatever reason, I've been forced to check my bag on the flight after the layover and then once again on the way back because there wasn't enough room or my bag was too large. Not only were there empty bins once everyone was on the plane, I watched multiple people after me chunk bags the same size as mine onto the plane. During one of the flights after watching about 10 people get forced into doing the same, I heard a stewardess say she had no idea why they were forcing people to check bags as there was plenty of room on the plane. I'd like to think we were just the unlucky few to have a rare bad experience, but I've seen more disgruntled people flying Delta than any other airline I've flown. They may thank you for choosing them at the end of the flight, but the experience isn't worth it and I'm pretty sure I will not be using them in the future. read more

We booked a roundtrip on Delta between LAX and OGG (Kahului). The outbound flight was on time, but the aircraft was a decrepit Boeing 757-200 that should have been sent to the boneyard 10 years ago. The interior was worn, the seats were lumpy and the carpeting was dirty. The buy-on-board food options were decent, but the cabin service was typical of the unionised, can't-give-a-toss drones you find on U.S. airlines. They'll do their job, but never go out of their way to please and never smile, and you have to poke and prod them to get results. The return flight to LAX was on the same geriatric B752 (I looked up the registration and was shocked to see it was 31 years old and the oldest 752 flying in the USA). The flight pushed back from the gate on time, but 10 minutes later it returned to the gate due to a maintenance issue involving an indicator light in the cargo hold and the flight ended up being delayed 4 hours. After the delay extended into the second hour, my husband and I assumed the flight would be canceled, so we deplaned and re-booked on Hawaiian Airlines. The Hawaiian flight ended up departing OGG about 30 minutes before the Delta flight we were supposed to be on. When I pay $500 per ticket, I expect to be treated decently by the staff and I expect to fly on an aircraft that isn't old enough to be collecting social security. Delta has been good to us... but just now we didn't have the best experience with the person who is in charge of seats. (Not going to say the name). We arrived about 2 hours early, kindly asked.. JUST TO ASK... if there was any way we can change our seat to potentially have an isle seat. Not asking for an upgrade. I had knee surgery a few months back and the middle seat or near window on the left side is very uncomfortable because I can't stretch out my knee. The lady mis understood what we asked for and explained to us how only first class gets upgrades and some other information that didn't make sense to me. So as we sit.. a couple more people come and asked the same questions.. and she is taking care of them! So I go back and just double check she understood what we asked for. I said how we would have kindly liked to just ask for an aisle seat.. not an upgrade. She then said she will write down our information and let us know if anything can change... which I appreciate. But being in customer service, the way things are said is key. She had an attitude with no smile. Was very cold. We were and are super polite and friendly.. and we asked in the same manner. I get it. Maybe she gets asked the question all the time... but still... this is the job. Representing Delta and to be professional / helpful with customer experience. This was not the case. is it just me or are all delta airlines flight attendants the rudest people you've ever met ???? i've been on 4 flights on my trip to hawaii and all were delta airlines. me, my boyfriend, and strangers around me were instantly disrespected by the rudest lady i've ever come across as soon as we boarded our first flight !! she acted as if we were stupid and didn't know how to load our carry ons! after a few hours of flying, my boyfriend asked for another beer (he had 3 prior) and the rude lady told him he was acting "irate" (after he literally had not said a word to her) so he could not have another! she said he had 8 beers in total which was a complete lie! then on another flight, one of the flight attendants got mad that people had not loaded their carryons onto the right side (because delta flight attendants expect you to know everything) he stated "come on guys i literally just said this on the intercom" and started throwing bags onto the other side! i've never in my life had a worse experience flying and have never encountered people as classless and unprofessional as these flight attendants. we will never fly on delta airlines again. these people seriously think they are so much better and smarter than the passengers when in all reality they are just plain rude and mean. read more

I will NEVER fly Delta again. We arrive on time for our flight and they board us all at the correct time. Upon having everyone onboard and buckled in they then a announce a mechanical issue that will take TEN MINUTES to fix. Fast forward 45 minutes with no air conditioning crammed into our tiny seats and the flight attendant comes on and tells us that legally they have to allow us off the plane but it will only be TEN MINUTES so if anyone risks getting off they have to hurry. Fast forward another 45 minutes and the captain comes on to inform is that we are waiting on paperwork and in about TEN MINUTES we should be on our way. You guessed it....that was almost an hour ago. Not only will I adamantly tell anyone and everyone to avoid this airline at all costs but I'm calling to complain in the morning. Maybe I'll ask them to hold on while I take another call. A California family says they were forced off a Delta plane and threatened with jail after refusing to give up one of their children's seats on a crowded flight. A video of the April 23, 2017 incident was uploaded to Facebook on Wednesday and adds to the list of recent encounters on airlines that went viral, including the dragging of a passenger off a United Express plane. Brian and Brittany Schear of Huntington Beach, California, told KABC-TV in Los Angeles that they were returning from Hawaii with their two toddlers when they were removed from the plane. On the video, Brian Schear can be heard talking with a person off-camera -- it is not clear whether that person is a Delta employee, a security officer, or somebody else. Schear explains that he wants to put one of the toddlers in a seat originally purchased for his 18-year-old son. Schear says older child returned home on an earlier flight. Delta policy generally prohibits passengers from using a ticket bought in another person's name. After Schear says that the airline would have to remove him, the person off-camera replies, "You and your wife will be in jail ... it's a federal offense if you don't abide" by an airline crew's order. "I bought that seat," Schear protested. Delta issued a statement today saying, "We're sorry for what this family experienced. Our team has reached out and will be talking with them to better understand what happened and come to a resolution." All flight to and from Maui is a disaster regarding the seating arrangement. When you check in, you don't get seating assignment. We are family of four and we were all separated. Different rows and all in the middle seats. They will charge $30+ each if you want to change the seats assigned to you. WTH! They purposely separate the families so they can make more money?! There were probably 10+ families that are all spread out!! This is the first and last that we will fly on Delta airlines. read more
