Rice and beans, plantain and cabbage

I ordered the red snapper meal. It came with rice and beans, plantains and cabbage and the red snapper. I give the entire meal a 5 out of 10 -The red snapper had a very very strong lemon flavor that was over powering (4out of 10) -The rice and beans did not have very much flavor but were not bad (5 out of 10) -The cabbage was decent (6 out of 10)

The food delicious, and volume for value is good. The service was wonderful and helpful. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm welcoming and cozy.

Ordered takeout from here while on a trip with the fam. What I liked: the jerk shrimp was perfectly cooked (not over- or undercooked) What was just okay: cabbage was too garlicky for me, the jerk shrimp was a wet jerk that was too sweet for my liking What I didn't like: plantain was undercooked and swimming in grease, and there were only 4 (yes 4) shrimp in my order!! It was just okay.

Got the medium jerk chicken and beef patty. The jerk chicken is flavorful , more on the sweet side. It's more of a braised or oven jerk chicken. Not from smoker or grill which I prefer. Beef patty was little dry. Still would come back. Took about 10 mins for food to come out . Lady is nice . One woman army doing everything. 3.5 stars really .

This place is amazing, it deserves way more recognition. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, and service is super fast. The curry goat is one of the most comforting meals I have ever eaten. This meal alone would cure everything trust me. The jamaican beef patties taste like comfort. Only thing I would recommend is more plantains but regardless, the food is perfection. Super friendly environment when you walk in, feels like you're at an aunt's house fr

This could easily be a 5-Star review ... but when you charge $6.25 for a bottle of water that CostCo sells for 25 cents, you lose a star. We visited at lunch time. The Jerk Chicken (spicy, small lunch) and Curry Chicken (spicy, full lunch) were both excellent. My Jamaican friend was also happy with her Curry Goat (dinner) Mannish Water (goat soup). The dining room is indeed open and has six tables. We were the only dine-in customers- they do primarily carry-out business. The dining room is clean. The restroom is clean. The TV volume was so high that conversation was a bit strained. The remote was on the table, so I lowered the volume. Someone, somewhere (worker?) must have had another remote and increased the volume. Lose another star. Will I return? Probably not, because it is seriously inconvenient for me. If it was more convenient, I would definitely consider them a terrific option for take-out.

I've always loved Jamaican cuisine and I highly recommend this spot. Authentic flavors. Very kind lady took my order over the phone. Next time I will dine in and try more dishes!

Heard about this from a friend of mine, I didn't know I'd be walking in on their grand opening. The food was delicious.

I heard about this place from a friend of mine. It's about three blocks from where I work. I decided that this was perfect for lunch. The people are friendly and the jerk chicken was delicious. I can't wait to work my way through the menu. I already know what I'm ordering next time! They don't have a big sign out front, so you have to look for it. It is worth looking for. They only have a couple small tables, I hope that changes. It is great for carry out. The second time I dropped in I had the Curry Goat, another great dish. I love the plantain! I may have to order an additional side just to have more. Third time in, I had the ox tail, delicious!!!! Fourth time in I had the Brown stew, still really happy about this place. Last night I stopped in to get the cobbler, I bought one peach and one apple. I just heated them up in the oven and they were amazing. They bake them in the restaurant and you can find them in the refrigerator by the front door. Still love the plantain!

First time customer and we ordered quite a bit of food. I was torn between 2 and 3 stars. So... what was good, bad, and disappointing. This is a small family owned and operated restaurant with limited hours. I love to support family owned businesses. Ms. Delphine is a sweet woman who tries to accommodate her customers. We ordered 2 jerk chicken dinners. Plantains were perfect, chicken was only spicy on top of the semi- burnt/bbq'd skin. Rice was tough and undercooked. We ordered one dinner spicy/hot, and one medium. If you like the heat, then you must ask for some of the spicy jerk sauce on the side. I had to go back for this and new rice. Well... not new. I was quite surprised that after I called and explained that the rice was undercooked, I was told to bring it back. When I arrived, they took the old rice and only added a couple Tbsp. of sauce to the top and said it should be ok. No new hot rice. No hot sauce on top. (Mind you I spent over $60 on all this food.) After all was said and done, I will hesitantly return again and probably won't promote as much as I would have if customer service was better than a 2 at best. This place could really be something big with better mgmt, professionalism, and customer service.

I visited to experience the cuisine, which I haven't had much of admittedly. However, after reading several reviews I was led to try it. There was a large order ahead of me, and since there is only one gentleman, the owner, preparing the food, I was there for over an hour waiting for my carryout. I definitely can't stress enough how important it is to order ahead. The menu is small but mighty. It consists of jerk chicken, curry chicken, oxtails, curry goat red snapper, salmon, and Rasta Pasta for the mains. Side dishes include yams, rice & peas, cabbage, plantain and other items. He also sells juices and Jamaican beef patties. Now admittedly, I'm a lightweight when it comes to spices, particularly heat. I don't care for hot spices this is why I shied away from eating Caribbean food. *haha* I ordered the pasta thinking I would be avoiding the curry and the jerk seasonings. But being unfamiliar with the dish, I was wrong. The dish was full of flavor and very spicy. If you like that sort of thing, I am sure you will enjoy it as it had a deep flavor as if it was stewed overnight. The pasta comes with chicken, which was very tender and juicy. I also had a beef patty. The crust was flaky and delicious, as was the beef filling. Before I left, I shared with the owner that I had planned to leave a review on Yelp. He shared with me a letter that he had received from Yelp congratulating him on his driving business. He is humble, with a great spirit. I enjoyed him. I highly recommend Caribbean Authentic Cuisine. Whether you're familiar with the cuisine or you're looking to try something new, this is a great choice.

It's located in a small building set back from the main road, and the lighting is dim, so you might miss it if you're not careful. The parking lot is also quite small. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly. The employees are behind bulletproof glass, but don't let that discourage you from enjoying one of the best meals ever! The server was kind and patient as I decided what to order. After a quick phone call, I ordered a jerk chicken meal with double rice and peas, and a curry goat meal with greens and rice and peas. The friendly gentleman informed me it would take about 10 minutes, and my food was ready exactly as promised. I always check my food before leaving any place, and everything looked and smelled amazing. The portions were generous for the price, and we could have shared a meal, but I was craving their curry goat! Since we didn't have far to drive, we started eating right away before heading home. The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned, and all our food was fresh and piping hot. The rice and peas were tender and flavorful. However, I must say that the curry goat was the star of the show! It was tender and moist with just the right amount of spice. My body isn't usually fond of spicy foods, but this had the perfect kick. No extra seasoning was needed on anything! We both thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and couldn't finish even a fourth of either one. Wow, what an incredible takeout experience we had from this hidden Caribbean gem! It's tucked away in a small, dimly lit building off the main road--you might miss it if you're not paying attention. The parking lot's pretty tiny, but trust me, the food is 100% worth it! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with such warmth. Sure, the staff works behind bulletproof glass, but that didn't take away from how friendly and welcoming they were. The server was super patient while I took my time deciding. After a quick call with my bae, I ordered the jerk chicken with double rice and peas, plus a curry goat meal with greens and more rice and peas. The awesome guy at the counter said it'd be ready in 10 minutes, and guess what? Right on the dot! Of course, I had to check our food before leaving--habit--and oh my gosh, it looked and smelled AMAZING. Huge portions too; honestly, we could've shared, but there was no way I was passing on that curry goat! We couldn't even wait to get home--we dug right in. The jerk chicken? Mind-blowingly good. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor. The rice and peas? Tender, flavorful, and just the right texture. But let me tell you, the CURRY GOAT stole the show! Tender, moist, with the perfect hit of spice--I usually can't handle spicy food, but this was just right. No extra seasoning needed, not even a sprinkle. We were both in foodie heaven and couldn't even finish a fourth of our meals because the portions were that generous. If you're craving authentic Caribbean flavors that'll blow your mind, this spot is a MUST. Don't miss it--seriously, your taste buds will thank you!

I have consistently come here to get food throughout the years and it has been so rewarding to continue to see Yum Village be such a pillar in the city and in the food industry! The service here is incredible, you don't bus anything yourself. I also noticed that the staff that day was all women, from everyone front of house to the chefs in the back as well preparing the food, which was extra fun! They are so attentive to us and even when there was a snaffoo with on of my party's orders. They paid with cash and I think perhaps that messed up the tracking of the order through the system? I'm not entirely sure. As for the food, Yum Village has maintained some of the same dishes throughout the years, while also adding and/or rotating a ton of other dishes through the menu. I can definitely confirm that the garlic parm jerk chicken remains my favorite and that the spice level, while still plentiful and intense, has eased up a bit in recent years. Either that or that I have become more spice heat-tolerant! Either way, the portions also remain huge, so there was a ton of food to take home! I love the truffle collard greens, the deeply unique and flavorful corncakes, and also the star of the show this go around was the deliciously complex fried cheesy fufu! Only bumping it down a star because they had some trouble with one of my friends' order. I guess it didn't go through to the kitchen, but one of the ladies noticed and asked my friend for her receipt so they could get her food going. However, seemed like they then lost that too because it wasn't until after two of us got our food and had been munching for a bit that they realized no one had started on our friend's order. Came out fast after that. Easily 5 stars without the ordering hiccup!

The fufu was a good consistency wrapped in cling wrap so it doesn't stick to the packaging and can be eaten fully. Regardless, it's very tasty and I usually get a decent amount of goat in there. The puff puff is always delightfully soft and the perfect amount of sweetness to end my meal. The Zobo tea is very much not for me, the cinnamon along with ginger and hibiscus is something my tongue didn't like, but that's just a taste preference thing, I believe it was made well. As far as service, the lady who takes my order is always very kind and helpful. I appreciate her a lot. Her patience, especially when I first ordered, was greatly appreciated.
