I had to get an extra shot of liquor to make it drinkable. It was so sour it was making me nauseous. Now I really love their pastas but today I decided to get the snapper. It was between the Jerk Chicken/Shrimp Pasta, the mahi mahi or the snapper and one of the servers (Talia) she told me to get the snapper and the snapper snapped honey. Sooooo good. I don't know why but I expected this place to be better quality, instead we got into the Dennys of Caribbean food... the worst part is that we went there for our 5 year wedding anniversary. Let's start with the restaurant itself. It's very old, definetly needs some update. It was not very clean, sticky tables, trash on the floor and the smell when you get to the stairs/elevator to go to the second floor where the bathroom is was terrible. Food wise, it was nothing to write home about. So, so average I couldn't belive it. We got the beef empanadas and they felt and tasted like a frozen item that it was just delivered to them and reheated... it was more like a beef stew... no good. They did not have some of the vegan items that I saw on their ordering website and the server had no idea why. I good the vegan tacos and side of plantains. These were also very basic, only guac had some kind of good flavor... had to request hot sauce to get some flavor out of these... My husband got their Lobster and Shrimp pasta and it had zero flavor. Yes, it looks good on pictures but it's tasteless. It was exactly like someone put cooked shrimp and lobster pieces in a already made sauce... He couldn't finish it cause it was so bad. First time coming my co-worker recommended it and I went with my sister in a Tuesday night around 7pm. Place was not busy at all so we were seated right away. The place was very themed and I loved the ambiance. We started with the crab 3 cheese dip upon tasting was absolutely delicious but we only got 1-2 bites in before we found a hair, we decided to not continue to eat it and to tell our waitress which was super nice and apologetic and took it off our bill. By that time our meals were out; my chicken sandwich was so crunchy and flavorful one of the best I've had and I am very picky about my chicken but I honestly can not complain the aioli on it was so good. The Pineapple Shrimp Is absolutely a must if you want a tropical dish and healthy. The Jamaican Jerk Chicken had a unique flavor but since it was called Jamaican chicken it came with great expectations that did not quite reach the mark. Overall, a great place to eat and take your Family. The employees all looked engaged in their work. We had a super waitress that was phenomenal. We all really really wanted to try some of their fancy beverages, but did not because we still had to go back to work. Wow! I went to Bahama Breeze in Livonia this evening and it was so delicious. The firecracker shrimp had the perfect flavor and spice and the Bahama Mama drink was the perfect sweet balance. There was a very nice tall manager who was very nice and personable. She made sure my wife and my meal came out properly and that everything went smoothly. Spring break 2021 staycation dinner. It's like a vacation restaurant here. I love the decor and theme of this place. Came here for dinner after church on a Saturday at 7:30, we had reservations. They had a sign on the door that said reservations only. They sat us in the front room with the firepit in front of the patio bar area. This is like an octagonal room, and it echos in there so bad, it was super loud and there was 4 tables. Sadly this doesn't have the Caribbean ambience or decor like the main dining room, I don't recommend sitting here. We had tostones appetizer; my favorite thing on the menu. They are essentially chicken nachos served on fried plantains instead of chips. Lots of toppings, but many chips. The food was not bad, but the mahi tacos were too spicy for me. I added Swiss cheese to the sandwich and had fries, it was all amazing. As an appetizer we ordered the conch fritters. I've had authentic conch fritters before so I was hoping they would be similar, but sadly they were not. They were mostly breading with vegetables inside, I wasn't the biggest fan of them. When my boyfriend left for the bathroom I asked my server if they do anything for birthdays and he told me that they can order dessert. I thought the dessert would be free, but the server never took it off the bill so I was not so happy about that. The dessert we ordered was the chocolate island and it was alright. It's just that good ole you know what you're getting yourself into type of place. Their servers have always been great in my experiences and they have a great happy hour. That's usually when I go to take advantage of the half off apps deal. This was my third visit, and probably not my last while visiting my mom. She wants to come again for their happy hour deals, which we haven't taken advantage of yet. Lunch is nice here. The atmosphere is welcoming as are the waitstaff and managers. The music can be a little loud, especially when there aren't many diners during lunch. I have had their fish tacos, shrimp tacos, firecracker shrimp, and their calamari. My favorite was the firecracker shrimp appetizer. If you like Bang Bang Shrimp, you'll love this version. You get quite a lot for $10.49. I'm not sure if it is on their half-off happy hour menu, but if it is, then go for it. Both tacos are an excellent choice. I most likely won't order the calamari again because underneath the thick coating, many of my rings were brown and dried out. I've had better for less than $12.49. My mom liked her lobster and shrimp quesadilla ($12.99), but I thought for the full (not happy hour) price it could have been a tad thicker with more filling. My sis and I tried it, and all we tasted was the fried tortilla. I also did not like their seafood chowder. It wasn't thick enough and had too many potatoes, and not enough seafood - mostly small pieces of shrimp and clam. Whatever you do, don't end your trip here without a slice of Key Lime Pie. Mother's Day dinner with my family was ruined, and dinner was the only chance I had to see them all day. We made reservations ahead of time for a party of five for our Mother's Day gathering, and then waited an hour and a half to get seated, while we watched the hostesses seating walk-in parties of two - four at several large booths that would've easily accommodated us and many of the other large parties that had to wait along with us. And that's not all. Once we were finally seated, we waited at our table for ANOTHER hour and a half for our food, and ended up walking out after my husband finally complained to a manager, who promised to get it worked out, but alas, she vanished and our food never arrived. We ended up apologizing to our famished family, grabbing fast food from a place nearby, and driving home alone to eat it. Happy Mother's Day. Major fail, Bahama Breeze! We will not be back, and you can be sure that we will warn others away from trusting this establishment with important occasions - or even just getting served a meal.
