Funny story: My now-husband and I were originally going to go with a different wedding planner. That planner sent over the contract for us to sign, but after finding multiple mistakes in the contract (misspelled names, incorrect dates, and fudged numbers), I no longer felt comfortable working with them. Heather really cares about the people you care about. I mean she cares about all your guest but if there are people that have special needs or are elderly she makes sure every need is met and no one is left out in the cold. 5. Stress management. Heather knows what's important and tries not to overwhelm you. One of my favourite things she says is "you don't have to worry about that right now." She knows how to prioritise so you don't freeze in panic at the admin emails. 6. Idiot proofing. This is a small detail to end on but when it's your turn you will appreciate it as much as I did. Heather idiot-proofs her emails to make what she is asking of you as SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE. It is incredibly relaxing. If there is something that is due right away she will hyperlink the email, add a map, add the discount code, add the phone number of the person you need to call so you don't have to go rooting around in your email for this tiny detail that you forgot months ago. I host multiple weddings at my house in Malibu every year, so have had the chance to work with many different event planners. Sitting down to write a review for Heather Freedman and Delmar Events is a bittersweet feeling, because it means our time working together is at an end (for now). It's hard to accurately put into words how incredible and indispensable Heather and her staff were for us at our wedding, but I'll try. We hired Heather for day-of coordinator services, and it was the single best decision we made in planning our wedding. We live in Oregon but got married in Agoura Hills, CA, so remote planning was the name of the game for us. When my wife (then fiancee) traveled to CA to meet vendors, she called me immediately after her meeting with Heather to say we had found our wedding coordinator. I was initially skeptical of even needing a day-of wedding coordinator since we were doing the planning ourselves -- and I thought it might be a spending category we could skimp on if we did end up hiring one -- so having not been at the meeting, I was hesitant. I'm happy to say from the other side of the wedding that we would have been *completely* lost without her, and our wedding wouldn't have been nearly as outstanding as it was. My groomsmen and I went to the venue early on the day of the wedding to get ready, and when I saw her there I nearly cried because I was so happy to see her and overcome with the feeling that everything that day was going to be perfect. And it was perfect. Heather and her team were amazing! Like any major event, there were some curveballs thrown at us on the day, but Heather had backup plans and contingencies for it all -- she had thought of everything. She probably had backup plans for her backup plans. To the untrained eye, she made it look easy. Some guests even came to me to specifically remark at Heather and her team's coordination and effectiveness, which is a compliment not to be taken lightly coming from some of my retired military officer family members! My point is that it wasn't easy, but the way Delmar Events handled everything had even casual observers impressed, not to mention myself and my wife, who knew even better all the things Heather and her team were doing for us behind the scenes. She professionally, graciously and patiently listened and guided us, she got clarity on what we wanted and acted accordingly, just perfect. She provided foresight and wisdom. She had referrals for every vendor imaginable, and the ones we used were gems. She reviewed contracts to protect us, negotiated prices, gently suggested better alternatives where appropriate, and all using her finely honed skills and experience. There are so many details that she attended too. A complex event like ours cannot be done flawlessly, which is where her talent really shined. She handled every issue and change from the day we met, through the wedding, and even after the Day, until every wedding related detail was completed. All without an interruption or misstep, she just took care of everything. On the day of the wedding there were last minute timing changes that were managed without us even knowing. Just magnificent! I really wanted my fiancé to calm, not to be stressed or overwhelmed. I wanted her and I to enjoy the process of planning, and the wedding itself. If I was allowed to give more than 5 stars I would, no amount of stars can tell you how amazing Heather and her team are. From the moment my husband and I met Heather we automatically felt that comfortable, trusting connection with her. She made us feel like we were her number 1 priority (and we were), Heather and her team went above and beyond to make our day more than we could have ever imagined, from handling all our vendor contracts, to thinking of the smallest details that didn't even cross my mind! As a bride, I couldn't imagine not having Heather by my side during the whole wedding process, she brought me a sense of calmness (which you can imagine as a bride is nearly impossible when your planning your big day!) and I am forever grateful for that. This is my first ever social media public review. I feel compelled to do so because Heather has to be the hardest working person in Los Angeles that I've ever met. I feel that everyone should know about her! I cannot stress enough how happy we were with Heather in particular and her company's handling of our wedding. Our story is that we were getting within 3 months of our wedding weekend and definitely feeling the pressure of not getting many things accomplished on a timely manner. Like others who have commented, we thought that we could plan the weekend ourselves, but reality was starting to set in as the date drew closer. Much of our stress related to the fact that our wedding weekend included a reception on a beautiful but private beach in Palos Verdes. We were excited to show off this beautiful spot to our east coast wedding invitees but the beach had no facilities. Everything had to be thoroughly planned and hauled in before the ceremony and hauled out after. Plus, we had 75 of our 100 guests flying in from the east coast and staying in the host hotel near our home in Sherman Oaks for our three days of scheduled events. Having so many of our guests from out of town created many other issues including transportation coordination, all of which Heather took care of. It was so important to us that we be able to enjoy our time throughout the weekend with our wedding guests and not distracted with last minute event details. Heather definitely made sure we did. Others have also commented on the first meeting with Heather. We have to agree. She was so impressive at the first meeting that we immediately knew that we were going to hire her on the spot without needing to discuss. Heather is obviously a very smart young lady with impressive organizational skills and an amazing work ethic. Somehow she also manages to be poised and such a lovely person through the process. She made us feel that she was personally invested in our event. I should also mention that the other vendors who we had already hired before meeting Heather repeatedly told us how lucky we were to have Heather in charge. Our only regret is that we did not hire Heather earlier in the whole process. You always hope that your wedding day will be perfect and I must admit that our wedding was just that. We will always owe Heather a great debt of gratitude and we will never forget the amazing job she did for us and what a wonderful blessing it was that we met her. read more

All I can say is that Del Mar Events was as close to perfection as one could come. Heather and Thea gave me the greatest gift a "soon-to-be-husband" could ask for, a calm wife. :0) They did such an amazing job of dealing with all of the big issues as well as the most minute details. I worked with Heather in summer of 2013 to help plan my sister's baby shower. She is an angel, who really stepped in, rolled up her sleeves and made me feel very comfortable about the plans as well as the setup during the day of. If it weren't for Heather, I would have been stressing out and not able to enjoy the process or the special occasion itself. What I love about Heather is she flexible to meet my needs such as budget, while balancing my involvement but also comes fresh with creative ideas and a keen sense of organization without it being overwhelming like other planners can be! She is also very accessible and friendly with positive energy (someone who you feel is like a helpful, thoughtful friend) which is a must-have during these tough tasks!
