Because of Joanna and J.Soiree, on our wedding day we were as stress-free as a bride and groom could be. We actually attended another wedding that Joanna coordinated before we were preparing for ours. Joanna was on our radar because that wedding party had high praise for her. We interviewed a couple other wedding coordinators during our search, but Joanna was the most organized and prepared, and the most enthusiastic of all. She gave us a great presentation and asked all the right questions during our introductory meeting; we felt at ease. Even though her fees are higher, the peace of mind is priceless. After we hired Joanna, she gave us a list of recommended vendors and a week-by-week to-do checklist, which made the wedding planning process easier. We were on our own for the most part, and at times we were skeptical whether we made a mistake hiring J.Soiree, but once the 8-week countdown began, Joanna was very active to connect with all of our vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page. She was very responsive with emails; my email notification was constantly going off with updates. We worked side by side to make all the final details that we didn't think of - like linens for the different tables, the drapery for the stage, etc. We were very much at ease. We definitely put Joanna to work on our wedding day. We were completely hands-off, and Joanna was running the show, and with flying colors. She created and followed a timeline detailed to the minute, and it went off without a hitch (that we know of). We were amazed and excited to see the whole event coming together, and more importantly how stress-free we were. All of our guests and even our vendors had a great time, and all praised on how well our wedding was put together. We couldn't take the credit, as it was Joanna who oversaw the event. Here's a review coming from a vendor's perspective. I was the DJ at a wedding J.Soiree coordinated and it was a huge success thanks to Joanna. I'll be the first to admit that I was a bit late on my email responses and Joanna passively/aggressively gets on my case on responses (if you're a bride, you'll appreciate this!). I don't know how she does it, but she'll get what she wants and still stays one of the kindest people you'll meet! Fast forward to the actual wedding. I get a courtesy call to see where I am and my ETA, just to make sure the DJ is still on his way, but still be on top of her coordination duties. She made sure I had 2 tables set up for my equipment (DJ's you'll appreciate this!). Since I was working by myself, she also was able to buy me some time to get everything all setup and nicely presentable before she let guests arrive (again... DJ's you'll appreciate this too!). During the entire event, Joanna and her staff were on top of everything. I usually like to get a good grasp on the schedule, but that's not needed with J.Soiree. They also helped me move the projector out of the way so we can get right into the first dance and open up the dancefloor. I was talking to the bride afterwards and she was commenting on how smooth everything went, there were no hiccups or miscues so there's no interesting stories to tell. Everything went litereally... picture perfect! On a vendor's side, things cannot get any easier while working with Joanna and her staff. J. Soiree definitely lives up to their promise. Super easy to work with, on top of their game, while understanding what different vendors need (we had a power outlet issue with the venue, but Joanna made sure this issue was resolved). I was hesitant to hire an event coordinator for my 10 year High School Reunion because I am a very detail oriented and picky person and like to do everything myself. Joanna and I met via a wedding we were both working. As a photographer, I can definitely appreciate a good coordinator...and Joanna was GREAT! I've had my share of horrible coordinators that don't communicate throughout the day or that just have bad attitudes...but not Joanna. First off, I was blown away before I even met her. About two weeks out from the wedding she contacted me to go over the day of schedule to make sure I had adequate time for photos. She was super friendly and sent over a preliminary schedule for me to look over. One week out she sent over the final schedule with all the information I could possibly need. As a wedding vendor, she made it so easy and stress free for me. The day-of was no different. Joanna was extremely nice and pleasant to work with. She was always communicating with me, making sure I had what i needed and making sure the day was going smooth. I recently attended a "Mad Hatter Birthday Tea Party". It was Great! They had everything set up just as you would have seen in the cartoon. The decorations were creative and pretty detailed. Down to the mixed up tea cups and saucers, delicious pastries, gorgeous flower arrangements, and even back ground music from the film. I do hair and makeup, which means I'm the first vendor to head over to the bridal party at the crack of dawn (in this case 7am) to glam them up before the photographers and such get there. The last thing I need is to arrive at the destination and try getting a hold of someone in the usually hungover and sleepy bridal party just to see what room they're in... or worse to be told there was a misunderstanding in the schedule and I'm an hour late/early. That's what was so great about having Joanna on the team. She emailed me days before the wedding to give me (and the rest of the vendors) a breakdown of how the day would be played out as well as a detailed timeline. She even helped me with the parking situation, and emailed me the night before the wedding to tell me which hotel room the bride was in so I could go straight there. No need to stop at the front desk or worse, in the elevator with my 23 bags in hand trying to get a bridesmaid to give me a (usually wrong) room number. In short, it was great working with Joanna. As a DJ, I had the privledge of working at a wedding that was coordinated through J.Soiree. One of the most difficult aspects of being a wedding DJ is dealing with all the different personalities of the wedding coordinators. If you have a coordinator who is easily flustered and stressed, sometimes that will affect the bride and groom during their wedding day because the nervous energy becomes contagious. However, with Joanna, every issue that came up during the wedding was handled calmy and effectively, without the bride and groom becoming involved. As a DJ, I have a responsibility to work with the wedding coordinator to ensure the wedding reception stays on schedule and does not fall behind. If the wedding coordinator is not attentive to the timeline, then events during the reception can lag or start much later than originally intended. Joanna did a great job of staying on time with our schedule of events, and I found that I never had to prompt her to move on to the next item on the schedule, she was already anticipating it. After having dealt with so many difficult, agressive, or rude wedding coordinators, I can honestly say that it was a breath of fresh air being able to work with Joanna.
