I first learned about Somni Events and saw their work when I was a bridesmaid at one of my friends' weddings. I was so impressed at their smooth execution, but at the time, I wasn't even engaged yet. Little did I know that a couple of weeks after that wedding, my now-husband decided to propose! It wasn't long after that we started thinking about what we wanted for our wedding. Both of us had really busy schedules, so we knew that we couldn't do it all on our own. We were also interested in AAPI-owned wedding companies because our family and most of our guests were Asian, so we wanted a planner who understood both Korean and Chinese wedding traditions. Ended up sending an inquiry to Somni events and Michelle responded the first business day after. We had a pleasant intro call and I initially decided to go with her. At this point in the wedding planning process, my husband and I had already begun looking at venues. After signing with Michelle, we found a venue that we both loved, but unfortunately, Michelle wasn't available for the wedding date, so she recommended her associate Janice. Her rate was lower and she seemed experienced as well, so we were like sure, why not! Fast forward throughout the year - Janice, my husband, and I would have monthly check-ins to review overall wedding progress, go over items, confirm decisions and budgets.. all that fun stuff. Janice was supportive of what we wanted but was also great at steering us towards the right direction in terms of which vendors, amenities, and overall options were the best for us. I'm very glad she convinced us to hire a videographer. I'm also glad we went for real flowers. She handled most of the communication between the venue and vendors, so that took all the stress off our shoulders. Fast forward even more to our wedding day. Several hiccups popped up that Janice was READY for. First, I woke up 45 minutes late and FREAKED OUT because it would have delayed our schedule. After calling Janice, she had already included extra time just in case something happened. Second, one of my bridesmaids broke her heel, and Janice came to the rescue with super glue! Third, I had food in my teeth halfway through the night and didn't bring floss, but Janice did! These were only the things that I noticed, I'm sure there were countless other moments throughout the wedding day when Janice was prepared. At the end of the day, my husband and I had the best time!!! We got so many compliments for how beautiful the wedding was, and honestly walking into the venue that day - and looking back at the photos of it, I was and am still SO impressed at how glamorous it turned out. When all the festivities were finished, Janice and her assistant had already packed/organized all of the wedding items and returned them to us. Good thing too because we were all way too tipsy to remember to do it lol. It's been a few months since our wedding, and we're still hearing such great feedback about Janice from family and friends. No regrets at all.

We had the pleasure of working with Janice from the very beginning to the end of our wedding planning journey, and we cannot thank her enough for making the process so smooth, easy, and as stress free as wedding planning can be. Janice found our amazing vendors, coordinated with them, and ensured that everything went perfect on the big day. And it is no exaggeration that we say, it did go perfectly! She was flexible and patient with our hectic work schedules -- as I was in training and with long, unpredictable hours. Janice did all the back and forth with all the vendors, and she left only the "fun" part of planning to us -- saying yes and no to details. We are so grateful for her for helping my husband and I bring our mood board and dream wedding to life.

Upon our first meeting with her, she was wonderfully professional and communicative, immediately impressing upon us that she was in our corner every step of the way to the alter! There is not enough space to document the journey the wild ride we have experienced with our wedding planning but one undeniable, calming constant has been JANICE! If you want someone who knows how to pivot gracefully, Janice is your superwoman! We are just so beyond thankful to have had Janice as our wedding coordinator! It meant so much to have her be part of our big day!
Prior to getting married, I've followed Somni Events on socials for a few years. So, when I got engaged I told my fiancé Somni will be our wedding planner, nonnegotiable. I sent an inquiry email to them and got a response from Michelle within a few hours, and luckily she was still available. Over a course of little over a year, we worked together to bring my vision to life, more reds and golds, less pastels than your typical wedding. She offered amazing suggestions with florists, photographer, and music. I was fine just having a wedding dj, but she definitely recommended for something more special, so we opted for a live band, which has become one of the most complimented memory of the night. She even comforted me through wedding stress and uncertainty. Michelle has been beyond extraordinary and I will be forever grateful for the unforgettable memories she helped create. On the day of our wedding, her whole team made everything seamless; even though there may have been things happening behind the scenes, we were never made aware of them. My partner and i have been together almost 18 years, engaged for 2 of those years. clearly we are the biggest procrastinators ever so we knew we needed professional help. i wasn't sure at first if we should hire a wedding planner but after a few google searches of "how to plan a wedding" and zero searches on my partner's effort it was clear that we needed not just any event planner but Somni! I happen to see a post from a friend who had attended one of Somni's events and was very impressed with their work posted on social media. their style was right up my alley. I also wanted an AAPI planner to cater to my family and our cultures. Somni was immediately responsive to my inquiry and provided a lot of explanation and information up front. To save some money, we went with partial planning with one of the associate planners, Janice. We decided to host our small 50 person wedding in our backyard. Janice was immediately communicative with us via email, set up a time to meet at our home, and began throwing out ideas and questions for us. Never having thought of what kind of wedding we wanted, with just a few questions Janice was able to put together a concept that appealed to our styles - but honestly we had no idea what we wanted but Janice was able to put together an event i could have never imagined! a few weeks later Janice put together a presentation with the specifics: layout, conversion from ceremony to dinner, table cloths, dishes, silverware, florals, etc. it was very thorough! there were details that i didnt even know we had to think about. honestly i was skeptical we would be able to pull this off in our small backyard but Janice's preparation and organization reassured us she had it handled! ultimately we were floored - our yard was unrecognizable! she had converted our simple backyard to a whimsical, intimate, flowery, arboretum! I really had no idea it would turn out the way it did but my guests, family, and i were all in awe. The result was so amazing and special - i mean there were like floral arrangements hanging above us!! Janice brought to life the dream wedding i didnt even know I was dreaming about! I cant say enough about Somni Events and Janice. Our experience throughout was excellent and the result simply above and beyond our expectations.
Michelle and her entire team were an absolute pleasure to work with -- they are professional, kind, creative and incredibly detail-oriented. They make wedding planning a calm and fun process. Our wedding day exceeded all of our expectations thanks to them, and we would highly recommend them to any future bride especially located in the California area.
Michelle made the whole wedding planning process so easy and our wedding turned out absolutely AMAZING. We really couldn't have imagined it without her. I think it's safe to say that her and the Somni Events team brought our vision to life and more! From picking the venue, selection of vendors, design process, day of coordination, to checking in consistently throughout the past 1.5 years, Michelle was truly a DREAM to work with. We really cannot thank her enough for everything. She took the time to genuinely understand our vision, making sure that every little detail was addressed. More than anything, she's been so kind, patient, thoughtful, & incredibly generous with her time from start to finish. Truly every single guest at the wedding and our family members told us numerous times how beautiful the wedding was, and how well thought out every single detail was. We loved all of our vendors.. truly, we were obsessed with all of them!! Of course, we thanked them as well, but we also wanted to give Michelle & team credit in helping us discover vendors that were the perfect fit for us. As we reflected back on the day and looked through the photos & videos, we couldn't stop smiling because of how perfect the day went! We especially appreciate how the team took care of all the little things, allowing us to truly live in the moment and soak in everything as it was happening. They were so organized & professional, and we didn't have to worry about a single thing because Michelle & team were on top of everything, including the clean up at the end of the night. We think there's so much more that can be said, but we hope these few words express how much we really appreciate Michelle and all the hard work she put into making our day so perfect. A long overdue review :') We hired Michelle for our December 2023 wedding and it was the best decision we made! Michelle is a true professional - she is elegant, polite, and extremely organized. We absolutely LOVED all the vendors she helped us select as well. Michelle helped us achieve a timeless wedding aesthetic and we received countless complements from guests. Throughout the entire wedding process, any stresses we had were immediately alleviated after a speaking with Michelle. I believe this is where she truly shines. Her calm, professional demeaner instantly calms you. On the day of the wedding, Michelle and her team ran everything seamlessly and my husband and I were able to have SO much fun. Thank you again Michelle!! Cannot recommend Somni enough!
Michelle is an INCREDIBLE wedding planner and her team at Somni did an excellent job planning our wedding from start to finish. We began the wedding planing process in late 2020 with hopes of doing a micro-wedding in 2021. In the midst of the planning process, my mom got sick and I had to fly to Hong Kong to care for her. 4 months before the wedding, we had to pause the planning process due to the uncertainty of my mom's health. Michelle was so, so understanding and patient during one of my life's hardest moments. When I told her about this unforeseen situation, she took initiative and worked directly with all of the vendors to pause the plans without bothering me once as I was navigating the difficult emotions of dealing with a sick parent. After I came back from Hong Kong at the end of 2021 and felt ready to start the wedding process again, Michelle resumed planning with me despite my unscheduled arrival back and her busy schedule. It was a few extra steps for her to get back to the vendors but she did this without any complaint and I ended up finding an awesome new venue for a big 150+ person wedding set in February 2023. Michelle was so amazing throughout the entire process and nailed down the vision for the wedding I had in mind, and with vendors at the price point I was looking for! She so patiently did this two times as I had one vision for the micro-wedding and then tweaked it for the big one. With her expertise, she helped design a table setting that perfectly accommodated what I had in mind (moody jewel tones; not your typical wedding palette). Fast forward to the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding: I had SO many detailed one-off requests as I was feeling nervous and anxious as a bride. Michelle kindly accommodated for all of them and I was able to let all of my worries go because she had them handled! Come the day of the wedding, Michelle and her team really delivered and it allowed for my husband and I to truly relish our wedding day. Not only was she able to seamlessly manage all of the events and outfit changes the day of (tea ceremony, wedding ceremony, cocktail/reception, paebaek ceremony, first dances and everything in between), but she also was there for the little things, such as ensuring I was hydrated, helping my 3 bridesmaids fix some seemingly impossible tasks with my shoes and my gown, communicating with my picky dad and even ensuring my husband and I had some down time to enjoy the moments of the day together. Michelle is very experienced and is prepared for any fires that one would expect on the day of the wedding (which is many). And to add - Michelle planned my older brother's wedding in 2015 and it was an obvious decision to have the pleasure of having her plan my own wedding ~7 years later. This goes without saying, but I HIGHLY recommend Michelle and her team at Somni if you can get on her schedule! ;)
WE HAD THE WEDDING OF OUR DREAMS! Michelle is exactly what we wanted in a planner. We opted for full planning and from the beginning we got a great vibe from her. Here are some of the things we loved: - attention to detail - organized - lots of vendor contacts - positive attitude She even helped us get a lot of discounts which offset her fee and had a lot of great vendor options at different price points. You might wonder if having a planner is worth it and I say if you can fit it in your budget you will be glad you did. I still don't know how she manages to do it all but we loved what she did for ours. Highly recommend!
Michelle, Janice and the team truly did an amazing job in not only making my wedding day everything i imagined but also taking loads of stress off during the process and on the wedding day. First off, I didnt realize how difficult it would be planning an event at our venue- Hummingbird Nest Ranch. There was no wedding package, just a list of required vendors (valet, security, bartending), so we ended up having to source and communicate with 13 total outside vendors to make our night come true. It was a mess for me thinking I could do it myself so that's when we sought out Michelle and Somni Events about 9 months ahead of the wedding for planning services. I really could not have done it without them. Their expertise in the industry and experience at my wedding venue showed and saved me a ton of time I would have otherwise spent researching or asking vendors. Michelle and Janice knew exactly what would be needed at our venue (rentals, lighting, kitchen equipment rentals etc) and communicated directly with all our vendors. On the day of the wedding; there was not one moment where I couldn't find Michelle or Janice when i needed them. Looking back at it, I didnt realize how hectic the day was. Im surprised how relaxed i was!! and that's because i knew Janice and Michelle were behind the scenes making sure everything was going according to plan. I barely had a chance to look at my phone or the time, but Janice always showed up at the right time to guide us through the next part in our schedule. What topped it off for us was at the end of the night- Michelle and her team were one step ahead of us and had picked up all our personal belongings from the bridal suit and had it packed it onto our shuttle bus. I was so grateful they did that. it would have been a stressful thing to do at the end of the night especially after having one too many drinks... Thank you so much Somni Events !! our wedding was better than I could have imagined at the time. it was truly a wonderful experience working with your team.
I could fill the entire Pacific Ocean with compliments for Michelle and the team at Somni Events. Michelle was part of our planning process for nearly 2.5 years (thanks 2020). Despite a long postponement and endless uncertainties, Michelle was always patient, kind, understanding, and optimistic while realistic. We are not local to SoCal and were stuck in another country throughout most of the planning process. Despite the distance, we always felt we could confide and trust Michelle no matter the issue - which is the most important when choosing your vendors. Not only does she have a great eye for design, she is meticulous and detail oriented. She provided all the organization and design resources we needed and truly understood our vision. A huge plus is that she is well attuned to East Asian wedding traditions and can speak to family members who do not understand English. There were so many small details we would have forgotten had it not been for Michelle. Even though our bridal party and family only had brief interactions with Michelle on the wedding day, they all commented and were so impressed by her level of detail and organization, positive attitude, and constant smile. When the weather prediction showed 70% chance of rain on our wedding day the entire week leading up to it, Michelle worked hard even at late hours to ensure we had a backup plan that fit our vision and communicated with our vendors for options. Not only so, she went above and beyond and paid for an hourly weather app just to see if it would stop raining by our ceremony time. By some miracle, the rain cleared the night before. When we needed extra rentals at the last minute, Michelle went out of her way to help us pick them up and also helped receive packages for us since we were out of town. We never expected any vendor to do this for us. We are so grateful for Michelle. These are just a few examples of the numerous times she went above and beyond. Although she juggles many events, Michelle always makes you feel like you are the top priority. She will treat your wedding like her own with the full attention it deserves. Everyone says that something is bound to go wrong at your wedding. Not us though - and it was all thanks to Somni Events. The entire day was perfect and Michelle is the absolute sweetest.

We really cannot thank her enough for everything. She took the time to genuinely understand our vision, making sure that every little detail was addressed. More than anything, she's been so kind, patient, thoughtful, & incredibly generous with her time from start to finish. Truly every single guest at the wedding and our family members told us numerous times how beautiful the wedding was, and how well thought out every single detail was. We loved all of our vendors.. truly, we were obsessed with all of them!! Of course, we thanked them as well, but we also wanted to give Michelle & team credit in helping us discover vendors that were the perfect fit for us. As we reflected back on the day and looked through the photos & videos, we couldn't stop smiling because of how perfect the day went! We especially appreciate how the team took care of all the little things, allowing us to truly live in the moment and soak in everything as it was happening. A long overdue review :') We hired Michelle for our December 2023 wedding and it was the best decision we made! Michelle is a true professional - she is elegant, polite, and extremely organized. We absolutely LOVED all the vendors she helped us select as well. Michelle helped us achieve a timeless wedding aesthetic and we received countless complements from guests. Throughout the entire wedding process, any stresses we had were immediately alleviated after a speaking with Michelle. I believe this is where she truly shines. Her calm, professional demeaner instantly calms you. On the day of the wedding, Michelle and her team ran everything seamlessly and my husband and I were able to have SO much fun. Michelle is an INCREDIBLE wedding planner and her team at Somni did an excellent job planning our wedding from start to finish. We began the wedding planing process in late 2020 with hopes of doing a micro-wedding in 2021. In the midst of the planning process, my mom got sick and I had to fly to Hong Kong to care for her. 4 months before the wedding, we had to pause the planning process due to the uncertainty of my mom's health. Michelle was so, so understanding and patient during one of my life's hardest moments. When I told her about this unforeseen situation, she took initiative and worked directly with all of the vendors to pause the plans without bothering me once as I was navigating the difficult emotions of dealing with a sick parent. After I came back from Hong Kong at the end of 2021 and felt ready to start the wedding process again, Michelle resumed planning with me despite my unscheduled arrival back and her busy schedule. It was a few extra steps for her to get back to the vendors but she did this without any complaint and I ended up finding an awesome new venue for a big 150+ person wedding set in February 2023. Michelle was so amazing throughout the entire process and nailed down the vision for the wedding I had in mind, and with vendors at the price point I was looking for! She so patiently did this two times as I had one vision for the micro-wedding and then tweaked it for the big one. With her expertise, she helped design a table setting that perfectly accommodated what I had in mind (moody jewel tones; not your typical wedding palette). Fast forward to the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding: I had SO many detailed one-off requests as I was feeling nervous and anxious as a bride. Michelle kindly accommodated for all of them and I was able to let all of my worries go because she had them handled! Come the day of the wedding, Michelle and her team really delivered and it allowed for my husband and I to truly relish our wedding day. Not only was she able to seamlessly manage all of the events and outfit changes the day of (tea ceremony, wedding ceremony, cocktail/reception, paebaek ceremony, first dances and everything in between), but she also was there for the little things, such as ensuring I was hydrated, helping my 3 bridesmaids fix some seemingly impossible tasks with my shoes and my gown, communicating with my picky dad and even ensuring my husband and I had some down time to enjoy the moments of the day together. Michelle is very experienced and is prepared for any fires that one would expect on the day of the wedding (which is many). And to add - Michelle planned my older brother's wedding in 2015 and it was an obvious decision to have the pleasure of having her plan my own wedding ~7 years later. WE HAD THE WEDDING OF OUR DREAMS! Michelle is exactly what we wanted in a planner. We opted for full planning and from the beginning we got a great vibe from her. Here are some of the things we loved: - attention to detail - organized - lots of vendor contacts - positive attitude She even helped us get a lot of discounts which offset her fee and had a lot of great vendor options at different price points. You might wonder if having a planner is worth it and I say if you can fit it in your budget you will be glad you did. Michelle, Janice and the team truly did an amazing job in not only making my wedding day everything i imagined but also taking loads of stress off during the process and on the wedding day. First off, I didnt realize how difficult it would be planning an event at our venue- Hummingbird Nest Ranch. There was no wedding package, just a list of required vendors (valet, security, bartending), so we ended up having to source and communicate with 13 total outside vendors to make our night come true. It was a mess for me thinking I could do it myself so that's when we sought out Michelle and Somni Events about 9 months ahead of the wedding for planning services. I really could not have done it without them. Their expertise in the industry and experience at my wedding venue showed and saved me a ton of time I would have otherwise spent researching or asking vendors. Michelle and Janice knew exactly what would be needed at our venue (rentals, lighting, kitchen equipment rentals etc) and communicated directly with all our vendors. On the day of the wedding; there was not one moment where I couldn't find Michelle or Janice when i needed them. Looking back at it, I didnt realize how hectic the day was. Im surprised how relaxed i was!! and that's because i knew Janice and Michelle were behind the scenes making sure everything was going according to plan. I barely had a chance to look at my phone or the time, but Janice always showed up at the right time to guide us through the next part in our schedule. What topped it off for us was at the end of the night- Michelle and her team were one step ahead of us and had picked up all our personal belongings from the bridal suit and had it packed it onto our shuttle bus. I was so grateful they did that. it would have been a stressful thing to do at the end of the night especially after having one too many drinks... I could fill the entire Pacific Ocean with compliments for Michelle and the team at Somni Events. Michelle was part of our planning process for nearly 2.5 years (thanks 2020). Despite a long postponement and endless uncertainties, Michelle was always patient, kind, understanding, and optimistic while realistic. We are not local to SoCal and were stuck in another country throughout most of the planning process. Despite the distance, we always felt we could confide and trust Michelle no matter the issue - which is the most important when choosing your vendors. Not only does she have a great eye for design, she is meticulous and detail oriented. She provided all the organization and design resources we needed and truly understood our vision. A huge plus is that she is well attuned to East Asian wedding traditions and can speak to family members who do not understand English. There were so many small details we would have forgotten had it not been for Michelle. Even though our bridal party and family only had brief interactions with Michelle on the wedding day, they all commented and were so impressed by her level of detail and organization, positive attitude, and constant smile. When the weather prediction showed 70% chance of rain on our wedding day the entire week leading up to it, Michelle worked hard even at late hours to ensure we had a backup plan that fit our vision and communicated with our vendors for options. Not only so, she went above and beyond and paid for an hourly weather app just to see if it would stop raining by our ceremony time. By some miracle, the rain cleared the night before. When we needed extra rentals at the last minute, Michelle went out of her way to help us pick them up and also helped receive packages for us since we were out of town. We never expected any vendor to do this for us. We are so grateful for Michelle. These are just a few examples of the numerous times she went above and beyond. Although she juggles many events, Michelle always makes you feel like you are the top priority. She will treat your wedding like her own with the full attention it deserves. Her eye for design, professionalism, and poise are worth every single penny. To be candid, I was extremely intimidated about the prospect of planning a wedding when I first got engaged. I wanted the wedding of my dreams to be flawlessly executed from start to finish, and knew that I needed to work with a planner who was professional, proactive, and trustworthy. I was luckily introduced to Michelle (who checked all of the aforementioned boxes) and signed a full planning contract after an initial call with her. Michelle supported and guided us throughout the entire planning process. She helped us find our dream wedding venue, and put together an incredible team of wedding vendors. She was also organized and very responsive over email and text. In the weeks leading up to my wedding, I was naturally feeling nervous and stressed about all of the details and logistics coming together. I wish I spent less time worrying because the day of the wedding was executed perfectly because of Michelle and her team. Firstly, Michelle is such a wonderful person that keeps your bests interests in mind throughout the entire planning process. She has extensive connections across the entire wedding industry and will consider the best options for you when providing recommendations within your budget. On the day of the wedding, her and the Somni Events staff kept us on schedule, took care of setup and cleanup at the end of the night, and seamlessly coordinated all of the vendors. Michelle and her team are amazing, friendly, trustworthy, and detail-oriented! Her coordination services are truly are worth it. And if you're questioning if you need a coordinator, just do it!! I worked with Michelle for "Month Of Coordination" but she really helps starting a few months before! She helped me organize and stick to deadlines, which I definitely needed - otherwise I would've procrastinated and panicked towards the end! Her communication is amazing. She was available by email or text and responds extremely quickly. She also helped out so much in coordinating all the vendors towards the end too, which took off a huge load of the work for me. Michelle made a point to attend the rehearsal (even moved her other plans around), smoothly ran our rehearsal in a timely manner, and offered suggestions or points to improve on! I am so thankful for Somni Events ! My husband and I reach out to Michelle for their month-of coordination package and were paired with Janice. Our wedding was in the backyard of our home, so I had to find all the venders. I have very specific/unique taste - which made me a little stressed. And I was planning my wedding in less than 6 months. Once Janice reached out to me a few months prior to our wedding, I felt instant relief. She came over to my house and we measured the backyard together so she can do a layout of what the ceremony and reception would look like. She sent everyone a detailed timeline of the day and would follow up and remind me when deadlines are approaching. On the day of the wedding Janice made me feel calm. Hiring Michelle was by far, the best decision we made when it came to our wedding. At first I thought that I could save some money and plan my wedding on my own. I was quickly overwhelmed by how many details and decisions go into planning a wedding, so we decided to hire Michelle for a partial package. She gave us a guideline early on of everything we would need to do and was with us every step up the way to make sure we were on track with planning. We had a relatively modest budget (I think) compared to other weddings in Los Angeles, and Michelle really worked with us to stick to it. By far the most helpful part to me in terms of planning was that I had no idea how to bring together all the different details and come up with a cohesive vision. Michelle took the very vague description of what I wanted and really brought to life. People always joke that something will inevitably go wrong on your wedding day. Well, that never happened to us because Michelle and her team take care of everything, keeping us on schedule and coordinating with all the vendors (many of whom gushed to me on the side about how great she is!). Even down to handing me water throughout the day, which I was genuinely so grateful for. Hiring Michelle was worth every penny and we're so glad we did! read more

My wife and I are incredibly fortunate to have Michelle as our planner. We were truly satisfied with Michelle's professionalism throughout the whole process from start to finish. She made our planning process completely smooth and practically stress-free. She has a great selection of recommendations for photographers, videographers, florals, etc. that will ease your search for vendors. We eventually had a dream team of professionals who've all worked together before, and they've all made our wedding day special. I guarantee you that there will be a lot of things behind the curtains that you will not be aware of when planning a wedding. We're glad Michelle was there to ask unexpected, yet essential questions for our vendors we hadn't thought of that are crucial in the wedding planning process. Due to COVID, we had to make several changes in less than a month before our wedding. When my wife and I decided to move our reception from indoor to outdoor, Michelle accommodated to our request without hesitation. She immediately provided a new layout and floorplan and was approved within days. Moreover, she also accommodated to our last minute add-ons/removals of guest counts at short notices (because it will happen!) Michelle always made time for us and made us feel prioritized as her clients. Whether it was through email, text, or call, she was always available, quick, and responsive. Although it was mostly my wife and Michelle doing the majority of the planning and coordinating together, I was astonished by Michelle's work ethic that I personally told my wife that I wanted to write this review for Michelle. Michelle and her coordinator deserves every credit to making our dream wedding come to life. Planning your son and future daughter-in-law's wedding is exciting and sometimes overwhelming. You want it to be perfect for the bride and the groom. You want the guests to have a wonderful time. To accomplish this without any mistakes, I hired a wedding planner. How to find the right planner can be stressful. You want someone who listens, is organized, has great resources, and is fun to work with. I thankfully found Michelle Tu, Somni Events, through the recommendation of our wedding venue, the Bel Air Bay Club, and she is all of those things. Michelle is everything you could want in a planner. She is not only organized, but she keeps you on track as well. I thought it would be tricky with the bride and groom in New York and the wedding in Los Angeles. But Michelle made it easy--Coast to Coast Zoom planning meetings and design meetings. She gave us great options for florists, videographers, photographers, hair and makeup artists, etc. Michelle uses a platform to make it easy to upload guest lists, keep track of those who are attending, create table seating with ease, and a timeline for us to make sure we have completed things such as when to get the marriage license and when to order the wedding invitations, as well as when each payment is due for each vendor. She also handles all the contracts for the vendors. On the day of the wedding, Michelle and her staff make sure the wedding ceremony and the event run smoothly. She allows the bride and groom and their families to enjoy the event without any worries about any of the details. I could not have had such a wonderful time at our son's wedding, without Michelle. TL;DR: Want the wedding of your dreams? Hire Michelle! What was the secret to our perfect wedding? Michelle as our wedding planner. Honestly, the planning process could not have been easier and the wedding day could not have gone more perfect. If you stop reading this review here, just know that we would recommend her 10 out of 10 times without any hesitation or reservations! Michelle took our vision for the wedding and executed it perfectly down to the very last detail. She took the time to understand what was important to us and what we wanted out of our wedding day and really helped us achieve those outcomes. We could really tell Michelle knew her craft during our meetings with vendors, especially with the venue and florist. She could communicate and articulate our vision and desires much better than we could! She knew all the right questions to ask and even offered up thoughtful ideas/alternatives to achieve the vision we wanted when budget or other issues arose. Not once did Michelle ever feel like she was trying to push us to do something or make a sale. The whole experience felt very personable and honest. Michelle made our lives super easy by laying out a clear and detailed roadmap of what we needed to do in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding. She set clear expectations and outcomes for each step along the way. Michelle was always accessible via a call, text messages, or email. We really felt like we were her only wedding clients from how responsive and attentive she was with us. We all know that's not true :D On the day of our wedding, Michelle and her team were like ninjas! I mean this in the best way possible. She was super attentive but stealthily so. They blended in so seamlessly that you might have thought they were a part of the crowd! BUT - when we needed something, she was always there. When something needed to happen, she was already on it. We just enjoyed ourselves and everything happened on its own. The vendors all knew where to go, what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. We have always heard horror stories about the wedding day and how stressful it can be - but our experience with Michelle was simply stress-free and it was just so much fun! Final note - we can proudly say we are Michelle's longest clients. Our wedding was delayed by one year due to Covid. However, the white-glove experience continued even through the delay. My daughter is not an easy person to please-(she's a spine surgeon-very tough lol) so picky n changes her minds very often... Michelle is very calm, professional, very well mannerEd and know what exactly she is doing. superb, outstanding, awesome... can go on :) during my speech at the reception, I gave her a shout out and told the "kids"- now all in their 30s, to hire her for their wedding if anyone is for one. she's that great. Michelle is just incredible. Her attentiveness, attention to detail, organization, and overall aesthetic eye gets a 12 out of 10. We don't know why anyone would choose to go it alone when planning a wedding, but whether you're considering a planner or a coordinator, the answer is "yes, do it". Michelle helped us select the venue, negotiated an incredible deal (which alone covered her fee 2-3x over) laid out (and kept us to) a tight timeline, put vendor options in front of us with her recommendations, was available to respond to any and all inquiries, and adeptly handled last minute vendor issues, and handled basically everything the day of. A lot of planners would probably leave it totally up to the couple to choose from a set of presented vendors or options such as table linens, furniture, color scheme, menu options, etc. -- Michelle knows this business so well and has such a great eye that she always has an opinion (and it's always right!). I can't tell you how positive the feedback from our event has been; we've had guests rave about the food, flowers, color schemes, setting, music, and more. For almost every guest we talked to, it was the best wedding (or even event) they've attended. read more

We cannot thank Janice and Somni Events enough for helping us plan our DREAM wedding! We went with the partial planning package and are so grateful that we did! Wedding planning can get expensive but definitely worth it! Janice was incredibly thorough and made the planning and design process so easy and seamless. I never had to worry about anything and she made it possible for me to enjoy the morning of the wedding with my family and bridal party. She helped us with the design and day of logistics which had a bunch of moving parts. Even if I couldn't quite articulate what I was looking for or what I was envisioning, Janice was able to figure it out and came out with beautiful and creative suggestions along with being flexible when we added a few last minute changes to details and timeline. What a fantastic team of dedicated professionals! Michelle and her team pulled off my best friend's miracle wedding this past weekend and we were amazed how on point she was with everything! I don't know how they did it, as they looked like they were on their feet the entire time making sure things were going as planned. They looked professional, confident, and were always making sure we had what we needed! There were a lot of things to coordinate and re-coordinate as my BFF's venue had to change last minute but wow, with all the different vendors they had to manage, the groom and bride party, guests, etc, they were not only able to juggle so many things at once, but also were SOOOO friendly whenever I needed to communicate something for the wedding. There truly aren't enough words to describe how amazing Michelle is. We always dreamt of our wedding day but dreaded the planning process. That was until we chose Michelle as our full wedding planner. From the moment we spoke with her, we knew she was perfect for us. She was so understanding, patient, organized, personable, professional... the list goes on. She took care of anything and everything. She provided us with checklists to keep us organized and timelines for us follow to ensure we weren't overly overwhelmed. She created our wedding budget and handled all of our vendor contracts. Michelle has so many wonderful vendor connects in the wedding industry and we went with all of her recommended vendors. Of course, all of the vendors she recommended were just as wonderful as Michelle is. I had so many ideas for the wedding and she helped me bring it all to life, even providing helpful tips on what would look good and what wouldn't. Her aesthetic is on point and really pays attention to the fine details. She was our sounding board and she made it her #1 priority to ensure we were happy every step of the way. She was our wedding planner at first, but she quickly became our best friend. On our wedding day, she continued to shower us with love and care. She was incredibly attentive and not only did she make sure all the vendors were taken care of, but she also made sure we were calm and had time to relax with everything going on. When you think about a wedding planner, my first thought goes to J.LO in The Wedding Planner. Michelle and her team are better than that!!! They are a force to be reckoned with in the wedding world, and that is exactly the team you want on your side! My husband and I, like so many newlyweds, were in for a shock because planning a wedding during a pandemic is HARD. We wanted someone who would not only guide us through the crazy experience called wedding planning but give us amazing ideas and input on creating the wedding of our dreams. Michelle did just that and went beyond!! She gives you the experience of a big company with the attention and tailored service of a smaller company. We were able to video conference and meet with her whenever we felt necessary, even though she had so many other events to deal with. She also was very organized and managed family members during the wedding day to take a lot of the stress off of us on our big day (anyone that knows how pushy Asian aunties and uncles are can appreciate this). Her contacts are so great and you can tell that they want to create a great experience for you and your loved ones. Michelle is honest and mindful of your budget but delivers luxury, sophistication, and uniqueness. I never felt like I was not heard or things got out of control. She made wedding planning stress free and fun! I honestly don't know how she is able to pay attention to so many details, she is amazing! Having a wedding planner that truly loves love and wants nothing but to create the best day of your life is so important! My husband and I had a very pleasant experience working with Michelle and her team. We can't thank everyone enough for the help and support throughout our wedding planning process! We worked closely with Michelle and Cindy for about a year prior to our big day! Both of them were awesome, courteous and professional! Don't doubt their young looks! These ladies know what they are doing and they are great at it :) All of my bridesmaids were from out of town so throughout the wedding planning, Michelle and Cindy were not only acting as my wedding planners but also as my bridesmaids! They offered both personal and professional opinions which I very much appreciated! Our tastes also were similar which made the planning process much more easy and fun! We're so happy we found Michelle! She is everything you want in a wedding planner - thoughtful, caring, creative, organized, well-connected, the list goes on and on. We absolutely loved working with her and her team at Somni Events, and would recommend her to any of our friends planning a wedding. I felt very intimidated about the whole wedding planning process, especially since my husband and I were going to have to plan this wedding remotely. But working with Michelle allowed me to enjoy the process so much more. She kept us on track with a personalized schedule, helped us make decisions quickly, and gave valuable input and guidance when we're stuck. Michelle really takes the time to get to know her couples and understand our wants, needs, personalities. From finding a venue, to florals, DJ/MC, videographers, Michelle presented us with a short list of vendors that would fit our budget, style, and personalities. Anybody who's gone through this process knows how overwhelming it is to sort through all the different vendor options. We appreciated how Michelle guided us in the direction that best aligns with our priorities and simplified decisions for things we just didn't care as much about (and often helped us save money). She is extremely knowledgeable and well-connected to all the top vendors in Southern California that made sourcing and locking in our vendors a breeze. The day of, it was evident all the vendors loved working with Michelle & her team. It was good vibes all around and she really helped us put together a vendor dream team, and I want to be friends with all of them! My husband had a lot of ideas and opinions about parts of our wedding, and it was great to have Michelle there to help him bring these ideas to life, but also push back on things that wouldn't work well. Michelle is a great partner to have to bounce ideas off of, she always provides her true perspective but always considers what means most to her couple. Lastly, the day of our wedding couldn't have been more perfect. Michelle's team made sure everything ran smoothly, from the flow of events to unveiling our special performance at the end of the night. Planning a wedding is a lot of work! If you're looking for a planner, I highly recommend hiring Michelle. I was in constant email communication with Michelle and set up a few in person meetings for when I was in town. She always gave me options to choose from so I wasn't overwhelmed and helped me make decisions when I was being indecisive (which was frequent). It was like Michelle knew exactly what I liked! She set up all the appointments with vendors so that I didn't have to make multiple trips to LA. Michelle also helped us prepare and keep track of our budget, which is super important when planning a wedding. We did end up going slightly over budget (expected!), but Michelle did help us save money through her connections. Because of Michelle's creativity, organization and preparation, I was worry free on our wedding day. Our wedding went smoothly and I was able to enjoy a day that I will remember forever. My husband and I even had time to eat! A lot of our guests commented that it was the most beautiful and best wedding they've attended. It wouldn't have been possible without Michelle. If you want a planner that will execute your vision, is organized and detailed oriented, and has a good sense of style/design, then hire Michelle! read more

Michelle is absolutely AMAZING! My husband and I were so lucky to have Michelle as our wedding planner. We wish we found Michelle the first day we started planning our wedding. We actually had meetings with a few other wedding planners before we found Michelle. But as soon as we had an interview with Michelle, we had no doubt that she was the right person to work with. She was professional, honest and answered all our questions in a logical and clearly manner. During the planning process, Michelle was thoughtful, attention to details and most importantly, incredibly organized. Her communication was timely and thorough. Michelle was very helpful in terms of recommending vendors that suited our style and budget, but never pressured us to use her recommended vendors. She made us a very clear budget list to keep us on our budget. Michelle was always there when we needed assistance. She communicated clearly with all of our vendors and wedding party and made sure that everyone knew what to do and where they needed to be on the day of. On the day of our wedding, Michelle was at the venue very early and ensured everything ran smoothly. She definitely gave us a stress-free day! Everything turned out beautiful and even beyond our expectation. We were so grateful to have her and would highly recommend Michelle to anyone.
