When my old doctor moved away, I went to Dr. Guerra for a physical as a new patient. In the course of the appt, to explain why I take the medications I do and what I'm looking for in my yearly labs and because it's a part of my general health, I mentioned a health issue, and we discussed it for a few minutes. At the end, she recommended I make a follow-up appointment to discuss it further. Several months later, I get a bill for a copay, due in 7 days. I called her office and was informed that because I discussed something beyond "wellness" at my physical, she marked it as a second, separate appointment. This means that during our conversation, Dr. Guerra decided we were crossing out of "annual physical" territory, and yet decided not to say anything, knowing it would lead to me being double-billed. I understand having a limit on what's discussed at a physical, but I certainly didn't think I'd crossed it, and for Dr. Guerra to encourage the conversation without a hint that she would charge me extra for it is exactly the kind of taking advantage that scares people off from the doctor in the first place. When I called her office to ask about the charge, they twice told me they'd call back and didn't. They ultimately refused to reconsider it. My insurance says this is allowed but that doctors are really supposed to say something first because otherwise it comes off as tricking people. Find another doctor, or at the very least tell her that she had better warn you before she answers a question she'll charge you extra for.

The minute I walked into the office, I was completely comfortable. The minute I met Dr Guerra, I knew I had found a physician for life. She is so wonderful with explaining what is going on with me and what her plans are to get me back into good health. I recommend her highly. She has a wonderful staff as well.

I made the mistake of giving this place the benefit of the doubt after reading the negative reviews…read moreand am now stuck with an insane bill. First of all it took months to order my replacement IUD, the medical assistant accidentally sent the order to the wrong place? After meeting with Dr Downing I mentioned the negative reviews and my concern and she said they were having issues previously but changed companies and fixed the issue I trusted her and went forward with this office. The doctor and medical assistant both assured me that everything would be covered by my insurance, I even called the company the device was being ordered from to be safe and was told the same. Finally almost 2 months later they finally receive the IUD and Dr Downing isn't even available to insert it and I was seen by a different doctor I'd never met before. At this point, I just went forward with the IUD insertion and that was that. Weeks later, I have received a $1000 bill for the device and am having to call my insurance and the specialty company that provided it. The medical assistants are rude and unhelpful throughout the process, and I feel like the doctor lied to me about fixing this issue with other patients in the first place. avoid this place!!!!!

Dr. Laura is awesome. If you are looking for a great obgyn with a heart then look no further…read more She is very friendly and accommodating. This is very important. It makes every doc's visit easy and something you can look forward to knowing that you will be meeting a doctor who truly cares for you. She is very patient explaining things to me, not a confusing medical jargon, but with simple and understandable way. She even printed resources that I can read so I am fully informed. She follows up and always repeat that I can always call anytime if there is an emergency or if I have a pressing question. I am very well pleased with Dr. Laura. What a gem. I just moved to Austin and she made me feel at home with her excellent and sincere medical service. Note: She is a part of a network of doctors named Austin Associates OBGYN. She shares the same clinic as Dr. Christie Milluer which is located in building 2. Over all, getting an appointment is easy and very accommodating especially if you have an urgent issue. The clinic is very well clean and pleasant. The sitting area feels like you are just in your living room. The toilet is very clean and smells so fresh. The reception (with An amazing staff) is very efficient and organized. The staffs are friendly and helpful.

He may be an amazing doctor, but I'll never know . . . because his staff gave me a weird runaround…read more My insurance company said he was taking new patients. I phoned his office. They confirmed that he was taking new patients. They said they'd email me the paperwork. I spelled my email address v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. No paperwork. Next day, I phoned his office again. I said I hadn't gotten an email, maybe because they hadn't spelled my email address correctly. I spelled it again v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. No paperwork. So I went to the office. I asked to fill out the paperwork then and there, and they gave it to me. When I turned it in, they said someone would review it and call me to make an appointment. Did they? You guessed it. No call. So why would a doctor claim to be taking new patients when he really isn't? Is it some quirky insurance thing? I just don't get it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ P.S. The day after I left this review, his office called me to schedule an appointment. Needless to say, I declined. So I guess he is taking new patients (at least when prompted by a Yelp review). But then why the runaround???

I've been a patient of Dr. Killian for about six years now and I feel very fortunate to have him as…read moremy primary care physician. He's highly competent, friendly, and an excellent communicator. As others here have noted, one never feels that he's in a rush to wrap up his time with you and move on. He takes time to engage in a conversation with you, to listen to your concerns and questions, and to address them thoroughly. For me, good communication is the most important quality I look for in a primary care doctor, aside from a basic confidence in his/her competence. Dr. Killian has helped me better understand my various medical issues and articulates his treatment goals and methodologies in an exceptionally thorough and understandable manner. I have a fantastic cardiologist who is also an excellent communicator, but I have often found myself with Dr. Killian explaining and helping me understand my heart issues more completely than I would listening to my cardiologist alone. He is thorough in integrating test results and other information from the cardiologist (and other specialists) into my patient records to maintain a complete understanding of all my ongoing medical issues. I could scarcely ask for more than that. His group practice, Red River Family Practice, is well-run, and I have encountered very few of the office/administrative frustrations I have at similar group practice offices. Reading some other less-than-positive reviews here, I'm reminded that no single physician is likely to be the right fit for every patient, each with their unique concerns and expectations. That said, Dr. Killian is a perfect fit for my priorities and expectations, and his competence and professionalism provide a rock-solid foundation to support those preferences. Three cheers and five stars for the good doctor, Michael Killian!
