I found this place on recommendation from my travel company. It was just the right place to spend a hot Monday afternoon after a long day of travel. I chose a quaint short table with two stools in window, open to the street. The menu was easily available in Portuguese and English by scanning a QRC on the table. I ordered a Delirium Tremens, a golden pale ale, claimed to have been elected as the best beer in the world. With easily an inch and a half head, the beer was indeed tasty. I chose the Delirium Portuguese Clams, a new menu, of steamed clams with ample garlic and focaccia. The clams were fabulous! Paying was as easy as scanning the QRC again. What a delightful spot to stop into and grab a beer! The tiny balcony seating was lovely and we were able to snag seats both times we visited. The service is cheerful, helpful, and unobtrusive. It's the allure of the pink elephants and the name Delirium for anyone that knows beer knows this is going to be great! One of my favorite breweries in the word and to stumble on this unexpectedly made my trip to Portugal complete. This spot is a little tucked away as we just happened to see the pink elephant while walking down an perpendicular street. The sign was not visible from where we were passing below but the way the pink elephant is mounted on the side of the entrance makes it visible...if you know what the pink elephant represents. When we walked in it was pretty empty so we quickly found a spot. There are some really cool terrace style seats that allow you to people watch while enjoying your drinks. Everything Delirium is known for (and exported) was available on tap. We ordered several different beers and some food but honestly after drinking their beers I cannot remember what food we bought:). The servers were great and supper quick to seat us and bring our orders. Delirium Nocturnum is by far my favorite but enjoy cautiously. read more

We saw the pink elephants while walking on the street below, and I like the namesake brew, plus they had fun little balconies perfect for people watching. When we walked up to the inside, all the balconies were occupied. Oh well. Still enjoyed some Delirium Tremons on tap. The side wall waking up the steps was decorated with bottle caps, very colorful. I love American beers and I love German beers but I really really love Belgian beers and DT has them in spades. A great QR-code menu provided a list and that got me going. Was excited to stumble upon this place while walking in downtown Lisbon. Interesting spot, quite big inside with small shared outdoor patio. Service was horrible, wasn't greeted or asked what we'd like so we attempted to order at the bar and were told staff would come to us. Waited another 10 minutes before going back to the counter and ordered our drinks there. On a busy day I'd be more understanding but when there are 6 other people only and the server walked past us three times with no acknowledgement it gets a little frustrating. 2 Americans walk into a Belgium bar in Portugal... lol. We were walking back to our hotel from exploring and just happened to see the entrance up some steps down a random street and the pink elephant intrigued us! So we wandered in unplanned and had some great beers and snacks! I like the dark beers and got their delirium nocturnum and love it. Andrew got their signature delirium tremens and finished it off with a smile. We got some chips and dips and loved the unique atmosphere. Things were hit or miss here. They have some great unique beers, but the beer list is not up to date at all - both the handwritten list on the chalkboard and the online list as well. Of the four beers we tried to order two were not available. Got the jalapeño and cheese croquettes which tasted good but were not hot at all. My wife and I each had a burger and they were excellent. Wait staff was friendly but the service was spotty as they share service among tables so no one person is really responsible for making sure you get good service, if that makes sense. read more

This is the 3rd Delirium Cafe I've been to and although their beer selection isn't the best of the 3 (Brussels unsurprisingly wins that award), they do have the best food of the 3, beating Brussels and Amsterdam. We got the Portuguese Board which had tons of meat, sausage, cheese, olives, brad and lupins. Washed that down with a few Tremens and then thought it would be a good idea to order more food, so we did. Round 2 was calamari (or "breaded squids" as the menu states) and fries. These portions were HUGE and would have been enough for 4 people to share but they were delicious and we gave it or best shot....still couldn't finish though. Friendly service to boot. I actually chanced upon this while walking up to Cafe Lisboa for lunch. I spotted a big pink elephant and immediately knew what it is. lol. So all through lunch I'm plotting how to squeeze in a stop among my busy itinerary. Portugal is definitely more renowned for its wine than its beer. If you are set on trying Portuguese beers, this may not be the place, as they only have one or two local brews, but if you are just searching for good beers, then this is about as good as it gets in Lisbon. As we all know, Belgium starts with BEer. The long line of elephant tap handles will entice you with the promise of different styles of Belgium brews. Some beers are offered in two different sizes. There are also lots of bottles to enjoy there, or to take home. The tap room, located on the second floor, is rather spacious, and you can look down onto the street from the tables near the windows. Delirium was a good, quality meal in an environment with a lot of tourist traps. We had the hummus appetizer, fish and chips, and two orders of the chicken Tremens (a chicken breast butterflied with a sauce inside and couscous on the side) as well as three "Delirium Tremens" beers. All of it was very good! The chicken was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious, the fish and chips came with a (surprisingly) wonderful mashed pea sauce and a hefty amount of food for one order. The hummus was the only thing that left a bit to be desired, as it had a bit of a more intense flavor than a standard hummus and was a bit too thick for the provided chips. Tucked on a beautiful side walk way, up a flight of stairs you discover this hidden gem. Open, bright, and big windows make the space feel amazing. Large tables make room for big groups. There are 25 beers on tap- and quite a mixture at that. I enjoyed the delirium red- very fruity, and the nortada ipa. The food menu is also expansive and I enjoyed an outstanding cheese plate. Dude, this place is a hit. Located in the Barrio Alto area it's in a district that boasting with local art, fine dining, and of course, plenty of steep hills to walk up and down through. I wanted to keep it very local Portugal brewery style but I couldn't help but questions myself about skipping this place. Once I walked up to the giant pink elephant, I knew this wasn't a hole in the wall selling their beers. On the contrary, it resembles a flagship location that offers a artsy dining experience with comfortable seating, a wonderful view, and loads of the tremens. The actual space itself is very properly coordinated with a huge bar and laminated menus in three languages . I had the pleasure of being attended by Miriam and she was so kind and helpful that she made the experience much more memorable. Yes, there's WiFi and if you don't have enough euros at hand, you can use your card. They're almost done with the back terrace and I know it's gonna look amazing.
