I have been to many bars in my life in many different places and this is my favorite bar in the entire world!! Usually when traveling I don't like to repeat restaurants/bars, but we loved it so much we went two nights in a row! The drinks were incredible, clearly the freshest ingredients are used and the bartenders put love into each one. The staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming, making us so comfortable. The decor is really fun and the atmosphere is really cozy. And for the price, you're getting an amazing cocktail and a lot of it! I'm so sad this places is across an ocean from me because I would want to go back every day. Seriously, if you are in Lisbon, check it out!!!

**CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT** The hubs and I were at Tasco Do Chico having a quick drink and listening to the first act of Fado, and really needed to eat thereafter. We did a quick walk over to this place and enjoyed a couple of played of the day. The vibe is a relaxing cafe that opens late with the option of cocktails, beer and food. We had the Salads de Polvo - Octopus Salad Tapas (EUR5) and the Bacalhau à Bràs - cod, potatoes, egg (EUR8). No drinks as we were still full of drinks from Fado. Both dishes came within 10 mins of ordering. Both were super tasty and amazingly less salty than most places we have been in Portugal. The flavours are simple, but they let the main ingredients sing in their own unique flavours. We highly recommend Bacalhau à Bràs. The egg and potatoes are almost invisible to the eye, but provides such as amazingly creamy texture to the fish. It is definitely not over-salted. It is accompanied by a salad and some toasts. The Salads de Polvo's octopus is perfectly cooked - it is soft and chewy with a lot of olive oil. The octopus is accompanied by toasts. The place started to get really busy by 10pm. The server, who is also the bartender, was very nice and friendly. Overall, EXCELLENT service and food - modern twist of traditional dishes. Highly recommend!

Really laid back place with great prices. The toscana bruchetta was really fresh, and the Aperol Spritz was great!

Great cocktails- very good value. Comfortable, warm, and quirky atmosphere. I don't have anything else to say.

Affordable and a great laid back ambience. Perfect in an otherwise wild neighbourhood.

Experiencing fado, a type of Portuguese song, is high on the list of to-dos in every Lisbon…read moreguidebook. Having experienced fado outside of Portugal I didn't feel strongly that it was a must-do, but when I found myself at night on the street that is known for fado I prioritized it. For the best fado experience I recommend an intimate space, hopefully crowded with people but also with a view to the performers. Tasca do Chico is exactly that place. The doorman told us that space was standing room only, at the (tiny) bar. From there we could see and hear the performers while ordering food and drink. We'd not been there long before we were offered an available seat at a table which caused us to order more food and drink and stay a little longer. The fado here is quite good, made even more enjoyable as the artists change quite frequently; a song or two and a new artist steps forward, all very talented and enjoyable to watch and hear. The fado places tend to have lines out the door and a doorman managing entry. A place across the street looked much bigger but the intimacy is, in my opinion, what makes the experience both unique and special. Even if you have to start at the bar, Tasca do Chico is a great place to experience fado.

The only downside of this place was the wait , nearly an hour to get into the bar and another 20…read moreminutes before we were seated (they do have a minimum spend per person for the table). On the bright side, I met some new friends in line, and honestly, it was worth it even though I hoped the wait was shorter. The drinks and performances were incredible and exceeded my expectations. It's a small place so the performances felt very intimate, what a memorable night! Just a heads up: they only take cash, so don't make the same mistake I did. Cheers!

Tasca do Chico - Food (snacks) are perfectly adequate but the fado is the reason you're here
