A friend of mine recently raved about a Chinese restaurant called Delicacy Kitchen and highly recommended I try it, so on my way back from Hamilton, I stopped in for dinner with family. My friend was right. The food was excellent! Even my fussy uncle really loved it! We all started with individual servings of soup - Minced Chicken and Sweet Corn; Shredded Duck; and Chicken Wonton. It was a delicious start to our meal. Our main courses included the House Special Guangzhou Qingxin Chicken, similar to steamed chicken, served cold with a ginger sauce. It was simple and very tasty! Other dishes included Deep Fried Squid with Chili Salt, and Stir-Fried Garlic Black Pepper Beef Tenderloin. Both had excellent flavour, but the beef dish was a standout - very delicious and tender. A simple complimentary dessert completed this delicious meal!! If you're anywhere near Yorkdale Mall, check them out at 2899 Dufferin St, just south of Lawrence Ave W. I am just wowed by this place. Growing up eating at Chinese restaurants all my life this js one of the best Chinese spots. And I was a little skeptical at first being in the yorkdale area but man was I was wrong and ate my words. Literally. I was so impressed with the quality of the food and the service was amazing as well. It's a small place but can accommodate big groups also. Loved my dinner. We visited on Mother's Day and it's super busy. They are very sweet and gave me a flower as a gift when we picked up the bill. The Shrimp is my favorite, fried with spice and the skin is so crispy. They also serve dim sum all day. Their 叉烧酥 tastes soooo good that I forgot to take a picture until two are gone! read more

Really decent dim sum and good service! My bf and I came here on a Sunday afternoon right after they opened and we ordered: - steamed shrimp dumplings - siu mai - bbq pork bun with honey sauce - pan fried turnip cake - steamed sticky rice with chicken - stir fried noodle rolls with soy sauce - bbq minced pork fried rice and I really enjoyed the dishes. I think the dim sum could've been hotter, the shrimp dumplings were more room temperature than steaming. The fried noodle rolls were actually my favourite as they had a really nice bounce and chew. The fried rice was on the dry side but still tasty. Honestly, it was a lot of food and for the price, I felt the dim sum satisfied our craving. read more

Oh boy the food here is an exercise in mediocrity. I fell for the same trap as read the article in a local magazine and word to the wise don't follow places that run solely on adverts or get paid to write. The rolls that were on promo are almost inedible. The soup was OK. I enjoyed the the egg plant dish somewhat. The chicken dishes tasted almost the same with a spice or item to distinguish one from the other somewhat. Now that my go to delivery spot for this type food has closed (sadly the splurge worthy spots also closed downtown) the search for a replacement continues. read more

Surprised to see all the negative reviews, as I had an enjoyable lunch here. Located in the Yorkdale area, it's nice to have another option for dim sum! My fave is the steamed chicken with ginger sauce on the side. It was cooked perfectly and tasted so good with the ginger sauce! The various dim sum dishes we tried were excellent as well. We were impressed with the service, the food is delicious. The staff lovely. The bok chop is like none other I have tried in Chinese restaurants. We highly recommend this restaurant!! I don't like leaving bad reviews, as every business is someone's livelihood and maybe even dream. But this restaurant honestly doesn't cut it in a sea of great Chinese restaurants in the city. Every dish we ordered was mediocre at best and slightly overpriced (for what you get), even the specialty chicken dish tasted like it's been in the fridge for a little too long. The decor and service was alright, nothing to complain about. I just wouldn't return given much better options around. read more

I visited after Yorkdale and didn't expect to enjoy such authentic asian food in the area. It was flavourful and the prawns were nice and crispy. The price is good as the portions are big. Also, the server Terrance was exceptional throughout our entire stay. He recommended the Guangzhou Qingxin Chicken for us to try next time. Overall, great experience! DO NOT GO...You can find much better taste and hygiene Cantonese restaurants in Toronto. Their special chicken is merely a steamed chicken with no taste. Dimsum here are particular BAD. Nice family restaurant with tasty food. Went in at 5:50, got served immediately and had food on the table by 6:15. Extremely friendly staff. The food was really tasty, I recommend the garlic black pepper beef and the sweet and sour crispy chicken. You may have heard of this restaurant from Toronto Life magazine like we did. Supposed to be known for their chicken and peking duck. Not sure what the hype was about. The article was published in March and said the restaurant was new but the inside didn't look new and there was a musty smell. The location was decent but not worth the drive if you are coming from out of Toronto. It was strange how guests were not permitted to sit in the other diningroom but were directed towards the room next to the windows. I thought the other diningroom was closed because there weren't a lot of customer the evening that we were there, it turned out other people that came after us were seated in the other diningroom! Anyhow there were 3 tables with guests plus us so it wasn't a busy night. This Chinese restaurant isn't your typical restaurant, it offered some Thai items, Vietnamese items, Japanese items and even Dim sum! We ordered a few dishes: soup, lo mein noodle with beef, Chinese broccoli with garlic and Szechuan chicken and the first dish that arrived was the soup. The rest of the dishes took a long time and the only dish we enjoyed was the Chinese broccoli with garlic. The soup was good but came luke warm, the Szechuan chicken and the lo mein noodle with beef dish both lacked salt and the lo mein noodle was soggy and the veggies were overcooked. The table next to us came for the qingxin chicken (aka Steamed chicken with spices) the chef's specialty and they were disappointed, it tasted like any steamed/boiled chicken you get at any Chinese restaurant, nothing special. Glad we didn't ordered a lot of dishes and appreciated the warning from the table next to us and happy we didn't ordered the qingxin chicken. The service was average, the waiter was not attentive enough so asking for hot sauce and the bill took a long time. The price of the food was on the higher end and the food portions were good but it wasn't good Chinese food that we were hoping for. We had high hopes for Delicacy Kitchen but we were left disappointed and don't plan on coming back here. read more

Today I and my wife decided to give it a try, since it is close to our neighbourhood. It is the first time I write a review, and I was reluctant to start a bad one. We ordered a sea food soup as appetizer, and a peking duck/half. The waiter served the peking duck first. When we asked for the soup, he said that we had to wait a little longer. Then he started cutting small (very small indeed) pieces, most of which was of duck skin. The portion was way to small for that price, $40, nothing like the photo in the menu. Then he took the rest of it and disappeared in the kitchen. A second later arrived a waitress, and served the soup in silence. At that point we hadn't finished the so called peking duck yet. The waiter showed up again with something that in the menu is described as the second course of the peking duck, served in lettuce. What we experienced, it was a sort of fast food with fried veggies, and a number of unidentified very small pieces of meat, particles, supposedly from the second part of the peking duck. The quality of the second course was worse than the first one. To make this first and the last experience profoundly unpleasant, the waiter charged us over $40 more. At that time we were the only costumers in the restaurant. We wish we could have something nice to say, except for the decor. read more

Checked the restaurant out this afternoon with my family based on their great reviews, and true enough, it was awesome! Their cold chicken dish with ginger sauce which is their specialty, was super tasty....so were all the dim sum dishes we ordered. The deep fried pumpkin is a must -try! Fairly new resteraunt so we decided to check it out - we only got dim sum but everything we tried was amazing. Every dish was unique and perfectly cooked. The eel puff pastry, fried sticky chicken dumpling and the fried beef buns were my favourite items - they really stood out to me. They gave us complementary mango dessert which I would also recommend. We loved the service - the staff were attentitive and friendly, the interior was also aesthetically pleasing & the pricing was moderate. read more
