Really good breakfast, deli sandwiches from scratch, and soup. Comfortable and clean, low key.

Glorious stories of buying a lb of pastrami and it being so good and hot that they ate it all in the parking lot. Another case of oversized matzoh balls and a tasty broth. They have exceptional meats and a terrific cole slaw. Portions are usually on the large side. However, today's sandwich was a bit skimpy, by comparison. This is also dessert central. Plenty of danish, cookies and 7-layer cake. Prices are actually reasonable for the product received. 10/25

Much better than the more "popular"spots down Orchard Lake, and on Telegraph. I think I heard that they brine their own corned beef. Regardless, they have some of the best corned beef I have ever tasted! Their sandwiches are very generous, but not overwhelming like so many other places. Their pastrami is also fabulous! I am not even a fan of matzoh ball soup but I love theirs! I often make it a point to stop by even when I need to go out of my way. Fantastic!

I ordered the Italiano - Genoa salami, fire roasted ham, pistachio mortadella, capicola, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, on fresh focaccia bread. I liked how the sandwiches are not too thin and not too absurdly large. It's great value and just enough food to keep you over until dinner time. Highly recommend this place and would definitely revisit in the future to try the other sandwich options. That's all

They have a menu board with multiple options listed. You order at the stand at the back of the store, and then our food was brought out to us even though we had ordered it to go. I am not sure if that is always the process- I was expecting to go to the counter to pick it up myself so that was a nice surprise! We ordered our sandwiches to go even though we were dining in as we knew we would be taking home leftovers. The seating area inside is no frills. They have less than 10 tables inside, and when we were leaving all of them were full with people waiting for seats. They did appear to have 2 tables outside but they were not being used as it was raining. They did have a carafe full of ice water that was self serve by the door, and they had large cups available which I appreciated! My eyes were immediately drawn to the Spicy Chicken Caesar and the Napa Club. Since this was my first time I ordered both and planned to share half of each sandwich. When I opened the Spicy Chicken Caesar I was surprised by the appearance of it. I had expected a lot more lettuce inside. It looked more like chicken salad rather than salad with chicken. The flavor was good and it was not too spicy! The focaccia was very soft. The Napa Club had great flavor to it, but when I was eating it I could really tell that there was avocado inside of it. The predominant flavor was the garlic and herb aioli. I did feel the chicken was a touch on the dry side. Overall, my experience and food were good; however, I am not sure I agree with the rave reviews. I would return in the future and would love to try some of their other meats aside from chicken, and their pasta salad also looked nice. The service was friendly and I feel like the price was fair. It's a nice addition to downtown Farmington!

It's a place you'd never know about unless you drove by it or saw it recommended somewhere because people have almost never talked about it. The sandwiches range from unappetizing to great. Plenty of types to choose from and some unique options. Nothing nearly as groundbreaking as the theming implies, but far more interesting and quality than many other sandwich and sub places. Cranberry sauce on a sandwich was not invented here, but you won't find it anywhere else in the area. The salads used to be cold and unimpressive, but they've actually improved significantly. The chicken is bad and basically inedible, but that's true at almost every place of this caliber. For a few bucks more you get something way better and more appetizing than what you could at a Subway or Jimmy Johns. It's a step or two above Panera Bread. The shop is very spacious and large with a lot of cool decor and arrangements, but with the hours you'd never come here to eat in. They used to be open on Saturdays (and would sometimes hang up on you) but have cut their narrow times to basically nothing. Carryouts couldn't be more convenient. There'll be a brown bag with your name on it to the left of the counter. Online ordering is great. Location: 4* Convenience: 4* Service: 2* Product/quality: 3* Aesthetics: 4*

It felt a bit outdated inside, but I didn't really mind that since it was pretty clean and well lit. I got a West Side Story with a side order of potato salad. The sandwich was great, and checked all the boxes for me. The bread was the softest rye I've ever had. I liked how fluffy it was, even though that was not exactly the texture was expecting. The pastrami was really good, and it was sliced perfectly. The coleslaw and russian dressing were fine but nothing special. The sandwich was so filling, I only had a bite or two of the potato salad, but it was really good and held up nicely in my fridge to consume later. Overall, I would definitely return.

Their tuna is unreal--dangerously good--and the corned beef is everything you'd hope for and more. I'll be honest: when you walk up, the place doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside, it feels like a small, old‑school grocery store that hasn't changed much over the years. But don't let that fool you for a second. This is one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" spots where the food does all the talking--and it speaks loud and clear. Star Deli is a staple, and honestly, I feel like I shouldn't even have to explain why it's great. It's been here forever because it deserves to be. If you're not getting Star Deli, wow--you're seriously missing out. This place is an absolute classic, and the food is nothing short of amazing. ---

Don't eat here. No one in there right mind would pay $20 for a simple sandwich. It's 4 ingredients, they got upset with me when I was politely confused due to the price.. a simple sandwich doesn't cost $20. There is no reason a sandwich with two slices of bread, some sandwich meat, bottled Russian dressing, and two slices of cheese would cost anywhere over $8... I have been patronizing this restaurant for over 12 years. I have a feeling that they are taking advantage of their long standing position in this community, a loyal customer base, and customers not understanding pricing of beef.. 6 slices of corn beef is about $3, two slices of rye bread is $0.50, two slices of Swiss cheese is $0.20, a spread of Russian dressing is $0.05.... And they will charge you $20 for a sandwich..... this is awful, disloyal, and advantageous. Don't go here, find another place for lunch that respects hard working people trying to get a decent sandwich. Their food is great, but no intelligent person is paying $20 for a sandwich. It's almost laughable if it wasn't so disrespectful.
