I am submitting this complaint regarding what I believe were deceptive, coercive, and retaliatory…read morebusiness practices by a tree removal company. I contracted with the company to perform tree removal services at my residence and paid $5,000 for the project. The crew arrived at approximately 8:30 a.m. and departed around 3:30 p.m. After inspecting the property, I discovered that a portion of the agreed-upon work remained unfinished. Based on the scope of the remaining work, it appeared that less than one additional hour of labor by a single worker would have completed the job. The following day, I contacted the company and requested that they return to finish the work for which I had already paid. Rather than honoring what I believed to be their contractual obligation, I was informed that the company would not return unless I paid additional money. In effect, I was asked to pay more in order to receive services that should have been completed under the original agreement. What should have been a routine customer-service matter quickly escalated into a campaign of intimidation. When I disputed the demand for additional payment and continued to request completion of the work, the company's manager threatened legal action against me. Instead of attempting to resolve the dispute professionally, company representatives resorted to personal attacks and accusations unrelated to the services provided. Most troubling, I received written threats that the company would contact my employer and my husband's employer in an effort to "expose" me as a racist. These threats were made despite the fact that I had not published any review, made any public statements, or otherwise damaged the company's reputation. At the time the threats were issued, I had merely stated that I was considering leaving a review regarding my experience. The company's conduct appeared designed to silence a dissatisfied customer through fear, intimidation, and threats of professional harm. Threatening to interfere with a customer's employment because that customer requested completion of contracted work is wholly inappropriate and, in my view, constitutes retaliatory conduct intended to suppress legitimate consumer complaints. Rather than addressing concerns regarding incomplete work, the company responded with threats of litigation, threats to contact employers, accusations of racism, and warnings that their legal team would pursue claims against me. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed by the Federal Trade Commission to determine whether the company's conduct constitutes unfair or deceptive business practices, consumer intimidation, or retaliation against a customer attempting to resolve a dispute regarding incomplete services. I have retained documentation of the relevant communications, including the written threats referenced above, and am prepared to provide them upon request.

The estimate was the lowest of 3, and while I don't always automatically go with the lowest estimate, I knew that he was the right man for the job. I like doing business with smaller, locally owned companies whenever I can, IF... I believe I with get quality service. And that I did. I was told I'd be scheduled in less than two weeks, and 3 days later...the tree was down. The crew was professional, friendly, and courteous, and went out of their way to make sure that I was pleased with every aspect of the job. Before they left, the wood that I asked to keep was piled nicely, and my lawn was blown and raked of all debris. In addition, Frank has graciously offered to donate services to a local organization that I am involved with. Something that speaks volumes about his character, and commitment to the community his business serves! They will be my first call for any future tree work, and I will not hesitate for a second to refer them to friends.

I was worried about a birch that was leaning toward our house-- I thought it would have to come down. After assessing it for several minutes Don told me "I hate to turn down business" but he didn't think the tree was at risk of harming our house. They do a phenomenal job -- my property always looks great afterward. In addition to the quality of the actual work, I have also found it easy to communicate and work with those in the scheduling department as well as management. Whenever I email them, I routinely get a response in 24 hours (and often times within the same day). And on the day of the work, someone in a supervisory/management role will typically be on hand to make sure everyone is on the same page before the work gets started (especially if I have a specific request or if something has changed from the previous season). It's things like that that will make me continue to use/work with Dooley in the future.

Going on my experience getting a quote somewhere else, I expected it would be a few days, someone would call to schedule someone to come out, look at the job, then provide an estimate. I was on my way to work early Monday morning when I got a call from Tom. He had already been to the house and gave me a quote over the phone. The price was right so I said sure, let's do it. Tom said they were doing another job close by so there was a chance they would get to me that day. I got home from work and everything was done. They did a great job on the trimming, cleaned everything up, and even got rid of some other branches I had in the yard. Quality work, great price, and fast to respond. Top notch company. Highly recommend.

But to paraphrase Seinfeld "You know how to take a reservation, but not keep the reservation." You see, I had scheduled Jansen to come out and take a look at six trees that I wanted taken down. Their estimator did arrive and do his job - but I never received an estimate. Repeated requests for the estimate, or even for someone to just call, where futile. I'm not sure why they never called back. Oh well, guess they didn't need the business. Unknown number of stars for the tree service and one star for the lack of customer support/communication. Mike

It's been a month of drying in our garage and the ash Is crap... won't burn. Cherry was fine. We reached out to the owner but he had no recollection of our purchase. Will not be a returning customer.
