Getting ready for ymca yoga in the park - it's free!!!

I look forward to Summer Sundays when I can enjoy yoga in the park! What a wonderful offering in a picturesque setting. You have your choice of sunshine or shade. The backdrop is the set for Shakespeare in the Park. You may even catch a wedding at the Rose Garden while moving through your yoga poses! And, the best part - it's free!

A haven of peace and tranquility in Buffalo. You can rent a pedal-boat and enjoy the water in summer, plus the trails go around the lake and beyond to get some steps in, and who doesn't need to get a good walk in? Plenty of park benches everywhere. Just be sure to please do not litter the area. Litter can blow into the pond and creates a awful image of Buffalo, the Delaware Park, and of all who use the park. It just takes a second to remember to hold on to the trash till you see a trash bin, and dispose of your things properly. Please instruct young ones to do the same; learn by what you see, teach by example!

I don't think I've ever reviewed Delaware Park but I love it! Walking my doggos around the ring, playing tennis at the free courts, basketball games, playground equipment, grassy knolls, soccer & baseball fields, rugby games, golf course, zoo... There is something for everybody... you can hang a hammock between trees and lounge if you don't want activity... you can bring a grill and cook if you're hungry... People are generally friendly, the dogs are mostly well behaved (it's usually the owner if there is a problem), there is a happiness when you go here in nice days and a calm when it's gloomy out... Enjoy! Enjoy!

The park is great, the playground is fun. It needs: -reunite the two sides of the park (the circle and Forest Lawn side) -increase the zoo size -get rid of the golf course- disruptive to families who use the park. At least the baseball and tennis is more controlled!

Truly lucky to have such a gorgeous, accessible park nearby! Perfect for a stroll in the sun, or the cold as long as you're bundled up. I've seen many different types of wildlife Including a beaver, turtles, exotic looking fish, and many species of birds and ducks. Also has many tennis courts and a Japanese garden. Definitely recommend!

These guys are a dangerous park gang. They're nuts.

My friend Del never had much of a clue about anything, so I decided to educate him. You could say that I made Del Aware. In fact, I made him so aware that they even named a park after the whole thing. The crown jewel of Buffalo, and a place which I've been to so many times, I may as well live here. OK, confession, I do. I Yelp from the park. And I'm a dog. Please pet me. But really, Delaware Park is a beautiful emerald paradise in the middle of hell. Okay, it's hardly paradise, and Buffalo is actually lovely, not hellish - especially this lovely northern part of Buffalo. It's a wonderful and large park, complete with sexy rollerblading girls (and awkward rollerblading boys), with good looking basketball players, with okay looking soccer players, and lots and lots of boys walking cute dogs trying to use them to get girls' phone numbers. So basically it's a typical American park then. It really is a wonderful place to go and walk around, or play sports. I used to play for BSC International soccer team, whose home base was here, and it was an absolutely wonderful home base to play soccer in, good memories!

JP Morgan Corporate Challenge at the Park

Came here to watch husband run in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge and I got to check out the park a bit. I've only heard things about Delaware Park, but it's pretty big! We got a chance to walk around the outer "trail" of Delaware Park as well as check out the inside, and even though it was a rainy/gloomy day, it was gorgeous! Delaware Park has a grassy field area, walk-along-the-lake/Rose garden area, as well as an area with lots of trees (wouldn't quite say "foresty"). The Buffalo Zoo is right next door too. The only downside about the park is the parking. They have parking spots around the park but it's mostly one lane(?) of parking that's available. When there's a lot of people, you'll have to find street parking. :(

Delaware Park is a huge multipurpose park. You have basketball courts, tennis courts, a section for soccer, a area also for practicing your golf swing, as well as a track for cycling or running. People also come here for events such as Shakespeare in the park, and exercising classes. The park is adjacent to the Buffalo zoo. So as you can see you can spend quite alot of time here. We'll worth the visit here.

I read that Delaware park is much better than central park and it does live to its fame. I don't think I have seen a better park in the states. It is so pretty, so well organized, hugeeeee, clean. Rose garden, Japanese garden, Shakespeare on the lawn, picturesque graveyard, soccer fields, golf fields, a beautiful (assuming artificial) lake and sculptures all around the park... it is a must visit when you visit Buffalo. Right next to art museum and the zoo.

Skaters on Delaware Park Lake, now called Hoyt Lake, in 1919

Frederick Law Olmsted, one of the designers of New York City's Central Park, is responsible for the design of Buffalo's entire park system. Delaware Park, at 350 acres, is the city's central park and counts the wonderful Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo Zoo, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society as intimate neighbors. Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin-Martin House, open for tours, is only a few blocks away. Although a small golf course and the Scajaquada Expressway have intruded on the character of the park, the park is still large enough to get a sense of Buffalo's grandeur, especially when experiencing the park at its Hoyt Lake. As Olmsted's Central Park languished for decades due to poor maintenance, Delaware Park, too, suffered. However, as the Central Park Conservancy saved its New York City jewel, Buffalo's Olmsted Parks Conservancy was created to rescue the entire park system. Their website, www.buffaloolmstedparks.org, provides good information and great hope for all of Buffalo's parks.

Delaware Park is one of six major parks that are part of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks system which is maintained by the Buffalo Olmsted Park Conservancy. Besides the major parks the Conservancy maintains several circles, parkways, green spaces and their facilities. This park as well as the other green spaces were designed by the famous Frederick Law Olmsted. The man that also designed Central Park. Delaware Park is broken into two halves by the Scajaquada expressway. The east side of the park is referred to as Meadow Park which contains a golf course, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, a walking circle that measures 1.89 miles around. Besides being a major park the Buffalo Zoo is snuggled along the edge. The west side of the park, more commonly referred to as Hoyt Lake is home to a more natural terrain where a variety of animals can be witnessed throughout the year. Hoyt Lake, originally known as Mirror Lake is the centerpiece of the park and in 2013 a 50' fountain was installed that is remminsant of one that was previously in the lake. Hoyt Lake is actually a widening of the Scajaquada Creek which flows through Forest Lawn Cemetery and out into the Niagara River. When taking a stroll around the lake please note that one full circle is approximately 1.06 miles. When enjoying this or any of the other parks please be respectful of other park goers and nature. Help keep our city green places clean!

After having some ice cream, we went for a quick walk throughout the park. This park really is great. It is a little small but that also makes it so nice. No need for maps or worries of getting lost, it's perfect for a nice walk. My son loves looking for all the wildlife especially if there are any ducks or fish. Luckily for him, there are plenty of ducks around here. Another nice thing about this park is that it is very scenic for photography. There were a few different groups there doing what looked like senior pictures or photos before an event. I am amazed at how restful and beautifully maintained it is. The flowers were welcoming, the small waterfall enchanting, the trails curious and winding, and the wildlife amusing. I felt more relaxed and grounded after my visit than I have in a long time. The only negative was that someone was smoking weed on a park bench and the odor instantly turned me off. I'm sure smoking is not allowed, but I was chagrined that in this little section of The Garden of Eden someone would assume to make the place smell like a stoner's living room.

The beach is still inaccessible there are giant cement blocks so it's not a straight shot down for a wheelchair and the grass around them is very uneven and hilly like ground for a wheelchair to go over and I got stuck in the rocks and had to ask people to help push me out, then on the way back to the walk way (video I posted) my wheelchair was going to flip. There are small simple things that they could have been done, I've been to other beach's that have strips over the sand/ rocks that wheelchairs can ride over. The building looks nice they added a small golf course. To me it seems like all they did was build the restaurant and build up the rock walls especially around the beach.

A nice wooden bridge, Ellicott creek, a ton of planted trees , the American flag, and several wooden benches fill up this park, which reaches from North Forest to the UB campus. The best part of this walk, though, was when it started raining and we were heading back....... amazingly, a mama and baby deer came really close to the trail, eating grass and looking up at us every once in a while.
