We started our bike ride on the Shoreline Trail at this park. There is plenty of parking, including a lot set aside just for boaters. There are also a lot of benches, a set of restrooms, a small stage, and plenty of room to spread out on the grass even if it's a narrow park. There is no playground if you have little kids, but it's a short ride or walk to other parks along the trail that do. This stretch of the trail looks updated. The lines appear freshly painted and the surface is smooth. There's also Mississippi Mudd across the street for food and snacks like burgers, hot dogs, drinks, and ice cream.

Nice park to go sit and reflect by the water. You can be as social or antisocial as you want when picking your spot. I picked antisocial. I wanted peace to just hear the water. I found a secluded overlook area with a few benches. I needed to sit, bad knees. Boat traffic, jetskiers, water fowl and the occasional bicyclists or walker my only company. It was a great few hours on a gorgeous day.

This park is such a beautiful spot on the shore of the Niagara River. The sunsets here are amazing! There's room for walking, biking, roller blading, or just sitting on a bench people watching. There is even a spot to launch a boat. Parking isn't usually a problem here. There are two spots to grab a bite across the street from the park. The latest updates are a charging station and a bike repair station. Occasionally the BPO plays in the band shell here, which is such a treat.

Easy access boat launch.

Great walking park, dogs on leashes welcome. Today was really windy.. too windy to fly a kite. But we got a good walk, even better against the wind. Warm, sunny weather everyone in Tonawanda wants to be here. A 50-degree, windy day in April, however, is perfect for having a lot of social distance with no effort.

When the end is Nigh, I wander around.

I often think in philosophical terms. Is the end of the world nigh? If the end is nigh, I wonder how people will react when they ultimately realize this? This concept, which I call "nigh, I wonder", is what this park is named after. I was at this park just a few weeks ago when we went to Suzy Q's BBQ. I was here this past winter, too. I've probably been here 20 times or more. Even though it's nowhere near my house, I absolutely love the view from here, across the river, to Canada. It's absolutely gorgeous, especially at sunset. As has been said before, it's one of the most beautiful places in Western NY. It's an incredible place for a romantic date, or for lewd public exposure, and it's a wonderful spot for summer stroll or picnic. At some times of year there are bugs aplenty down here, but not often since the weather in WNY is so mild. Across the water, you can see Grand Island with lots of boats sailing by in the wide channel. These beautiful waters are just a few miles from Niagara Falls, and so at some point soon, they will all be cascading over the edge into the Gorge, which is a fun thought as you sit or stroll or expose yourself here and enjoy the scenery. It's the heart and soul and pride of the Tonawandas, and if you have never been to Niawanda Park, you're missing out. It's so lovely that, if you are visiting the area, or know somebody who is, it's well worth telling them to pay a trip to this park to experience its beauty. And if the end of the world is Nigh, I wonder if this will be one of my final memories of this earth. And if the end is Nigh, I'll wander along this beautiful river bank on the final day. And expose myself.

This is a great park. If you're coming up from Buffalo it is mostly tucked down along the left hand side, a thin looooong strip with excellent views of the water. One of the highlights for me is the bike trail- the Seaway Trail runs right through the park and offers a few miles of walking or cycling. I love looking for the Plank-Man, which is this post sticking out of the rocks that is seasonally decorated. Niawanda Park is one of my favorite places to watch 4th of July fireworks. The way they reflect over the water is stunning and Tonawanda puts on a good length show! It's also very easy to pop across the street to grab some ice cream or a hot dog, though I personally love to picnic at one of the many tables available. Also, a hidden gem, as it is literally hidden from the road is the Niawanda Park Pavilion, a fully equipped hall. There is a full kitchen, air conditioning, bathrooms, tables, and chairs, and the town offers the hall at a very reasonable rate. I highly recommend the hall for events.

When it's warm outside I love coming here to rollerblade along the greenway. It's so long-it can even get you to the south grand island bridge which is a beautiful view by the way. There are "lanes" for pedestrians and bikers which is pretty thoughtful and I'm always glad to see people on the trail. It's a great place to bike, walk, run, or skate. The views at sunset are to die for and the parking is easy enough to find. This is a pretty stellar park in the area and I wish more people spent time here.

Fantastic place to enjoy the outdoors, jog, walk, bike, sit and relax or just watch the sun set and view the scenic Niagara river. Mississippi Muds and Old Man River are close by for icecream and other great summer time foods. My favorite place to walk and jog in the spring or summer.

If you are looking for a quiet place to relax, read a book, boat watch,or look at a beautiful sunset, this park is the place for you. I walk here frequently and never tire of its beauty. Bring your pet as it is pet friendly. It has a nice recently paved bike and roller blading path used by many.

I love love love Niawanda! Great views, peaceful atmosphere, has a great walking, running, biking path for anyone. Most of the Park goers I've come across have been friendly and inviting. It's a shared path, so pay attention. I really love going in the early morning hours and watching the sun rise.

Niawanda Park is one of my favorites! I just love being able to walk the river. It's peaceful, clean, and constantly being updated. (Just noticed a new playground yesterday!) Benches and picnic tables are easy to find. With plenty of room to make your own setup too! Great for picnics, parties, or just sitting by the river to relax and think. Highly recommend!

In addition to the bike and walking paths that pass through this park, it gets used for winter sports like snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There's tennis courts, too. No playgrounds that I can tell, but that makes it an ideal place to observe wildlife or have a quiet picnic. I've been in the area so many times without realizing this was here. Lots of benches, some with shade, some without. There's a pond for fishing. Just a lovely jewel in the suburbs near the university. A nice wooden bridge, Ellicott creek, a ton of planted trees , the American flag, and several wooden benches fill up this park, which reaches from North Forest to the UB campus. The best part of this walk, though, was when it started raining and we were heading back....... amazingly, a mama and baby deer came really close to the trail, eating grass and looking up at us every once in a while. That made for a great photo opportunity! I'll be back to take a ride on my bike sometime.... P.S. be cautious of your GPS , the address lead me to the golf course, not the park. The parking lot is on North Forest Ave just a bit past Maple .

Because I'm a big fan, in fact this is where I played some of the biggest soccer games of my amateur grown-up life once I moved to Buffalo. Under the floodlights late in the evening, playing for the Eagles, we had some great moments here. Through balls, defensive blocks, epic crosses, and a very famous last minute goal by JG (hey if you're reading, that was an awesome strike!), and those memories will last forever. I actually felt like an American on those nights. Like I'd never been born and raised in a pessimistic negative rough and harsh society like I was. As if I'd been one of the dreamers, the Hollywood kids, the baseball kids, the cotton candy Kool Aid kids, and yes I must have been drinking the Kool Aid before writing this. Lots of parking areas. The only disappointment to this great park was the lack of respect the people have, by leaving trash any and everywhere. It doesn't take even a minute to hold on to your trash till you come across a trash bin. Easy as pie! At one shelter occupied by a huge group of people, there was trash everywhere! People don't need to be told, they just need to think of collecting trash till a suitable time and place is possible to dispose PROPERLY of the trash! Unfortunately, there are more people who trash parks and Nature, than are those who respect our parks and Nature by NOT trashing the environment.
