At first I was lost because the sign wasn't clear and map wouldn't load due to lack of cell service. Once parked, pretty easy to get down to the waterfall even the trails were covered in snow. If you are looking for an easy park day, this might be a good fit for you. The waterfall is the biggest draw, and getting there is quick and easy. You do not need to do a long hike to enjoy it, you can be standing near it within 2 minutes, which makes it perfect for quick stops or bringing people who are not looking for a big trek. If you do want a little more time outside, there are plenty of trails to make your walk longer. You can turn it into a loop or wander a bit in some fresh air. There are usually enough people around to remind you that you are in a park, but not so many that it feels crowded. It strikes a nice balance between social and being chill. Woods aside, there are areas to play, grill, and hang out. It is the kind of place that works well for a picnic or small gathering or a solo walk. Simple, pretty, and easy to enjoy. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I will be back. read more

This is a pretty little park, absolutely glorious with the leaves in color. There are some nice amenities near the upper parking lot - a small playground, a basketball court, and the like, and a shelter house down by the lower parking lot. The trail from the upper parking area takes you down to the stream, while the trail along the bottom is pretty flat and easy to walk. Unfortunately, our timing was poor for the waterfall itself - a drought really did a number on it - there was just a small trickle. This is no doubt more impressive when it has rained recently. I have been here in spring, fall and now winter and it never disappoints. From sledding, to waterfall viewing to biking, basketball, fishing, and walking, there is something here for everyone! My most recent experience was about 2 weekends ago when it was still fresh snow and felt like winter. My only winter visit and it may just be my favorite time of year to visit. The falls is magnificient in the winter! Truly beautiful and breathtaking. The hill for sledding is not large, either in width or steepness, but it was a fun way to get outside and enjoy the weather. This is a really great walk for a picnic, whether it be for your immediate family, or meeting up with friend and family (social distanced of course during this pandemic). There are lots of different spaces, and in the warmer months picnic tables, some shady and some with more sun, and a variety of playground and different places to explore. There are even a couple of cool geocaches to visit when you are there! This is a great place to visit anytime. It is cool in the warmer months for sure but if you haven't been in winter, stop by soon, you will not regret it! read more

One of my favorite parks. You can hike down the lower trail to see the falls. You need to stay on the trail as you get closer to the falls. Park Rangers often are monitoring them because you are no longer able to go into the water by the falls itself. You can fish here too sun fish, bass and many more. read more

Although it looks like a small town park from the road - a basketball court, open space, a playground, dog park - once you get onto the hiking trails, everything opens up. There is a spectacular scene as you walk, with the stream becoming more and more wild until you reach the end of the trail and encounter a roaring water fall cascading down multiple rock faces and into the stony brook below. A beautiful natural display! Climbing back out of the stream bed reveals even more of the park, with an overlook of the falls, more playground space, and a quaint rock garden surrounding a mossy pond. The hike won't take you long. Perhaps 20-30 minutes at the most. Despite this, there is so much to see that it is worth checking out! Especially if you've been feeling cooped up and need to do something outdoors. read more

Akron Park is a great facility for many different activities, "basketball, bicycling, fishing, hiking trails, ice skating, picnic, playgrounds, cross-country skiing, sledding, softball and tennis". For me, it's a great spot for picnics. With 15 shelters and one lodge available for rent, it is a destination for families and group of friends to gather together. I believe the busiest times are Sundays during summer time. The rest of the week is quieter and more relaxing. It's a really nice place for an easy stroll around with the main destination being beautiful, scenic Akron Falls. The area is covered with dense forest and mature trees which provide shade and canopy, making a cozy spot to be. It's a perfect place for a date. I always feel romantic there, must be something in the air. The old history is going back to early '20's of 19th century, and like "The Legend of Murder Creek" says, maybe it's all about ghosts of two lovers "as they wander over the modern dust of the ancient trail". read more

I was all excited to go to Akron Falls State Park, hike some trails, see the water. With all the rain we had, I thought there would be water, but the water fall was barely trickling. It was still a nice walk, but I assumed there would be more trails. You can get right up to the pool, where the falls go into. There were many people hanging out there, drinking. That must be the place to be on a Sunday afternoon. There are many playground and kid apparatuses scattered among the park, as well as shelters, and people were utilizing them. There is also a cute, little rock garden on your way up to the trail by the falls. I wore flip flops, but maybe don't be stupid and wear some sneakers, or hiking sandals. read more

I came here to look at the waterfalls and the park was nice along with the waterfalls. I parked right by the trail and followed "Murder creek" (uhh what, why is it called that?) over to the waterfall. The waterfall itself is beautiful, although the rocks down to it restrict access by way of a signpost and do not let one get super close to it. There is a nice vantage point to see the waterfalls from a higher viewing point though. The trail continues on for about a half mile along the creek and it's worth going through the whole trail. Aside from the waterfall, there are plenty of other elements to the park including picnic areas, playgrounds, shelters - it is definitely worth a visit! read more

I love this park, and its one of those places that is great year-round. In the spring and summer its a nice cool shaded place to go for a walk up to the falls. In the autumn you get the beautiful fall foliage. And in the winter you get a great spot to go snow shoeing, sledding, and ice skating (be careful around the falls in the winter though, the lookout is SUPER icy). I also really like swinging (yes even in winter), and there are a lot of swing sets to choose from all throughout the park. It never seems that busy, even on a nice weekend day in the summer, which is shocking to me since its such a nice area. read more

I really like this park, it's kind of low key and off the grid which makes it even better. The waterfall is super awesome and the path to it is pretty fun as well. DON'T swim in the water pool near it though it's dangerous and not worth the risk. The park is a lot bigger than it looks too with tons of picnic tables and benches and shelters to enjoy. They have a lot of parking and regular recreational facilities around to use as well. The park is also located nearby to the Clarence bike trail and makes an excellent afternoon bike ride to and from if you're into biking. Great place year round! read more

I met friends for an impromptu picnic and hike. This is a beautiful park on the smaller side. The hike to the waterfall is pretty brief and depending on where you park, goes quickly and can be done wearing flip Flops. Also, the hike can be done by toddlers looking at phones. The creek leading to the waterfall is called Murder Creek apparently and is quite picturesque. The waterfall itself is small and during the late summer -- not raging. Come here in spring if you want to see that. Very relaxing place nonetheless. The park ranger posted at the waterfall area showed us a bioluminescent crayfish -- which was pretty cool. read more

I love hiking and I was able to take a short ride to Akron fall. I didn't know what to expect I thought there would be more trails and there is only one. The trail is doable for anyone and you don't get confused on where to go. It took me about ten minutes to complete the trail and I was able to go out on the rocks in the stream. It is beautiful and peaceful. It is well maintained and a clean park. You are able to walk around the park once the trail is done. It is a big family place because there are a lot of playgrounds and tables to eat for a picnic or barbecue. If you are looking for some good exercise go to Akron falls on a nice day :))) read more

Kids these days just smoke weed & vape. I enjoyed coming here to look at the falls (climb the rocks) feel the water on my feet. Take the kids I baby sat to the park. Barbecue and have parts at the buildings they have all over. Look at the beautiful garden, play basketball, play tennis/racket ball! I really should have taken a picture by the playground to show how to get to the path of the falls because this is a large and sprawling park To get to the path for the falls, you walk or drive up a hill to the left of the playground and you'll see the start of the path past some orange gates. This part is still wide enough for people to drive down so avoid walking on the paved area. At the bottom, there's a dirt path to the right. The walk to the falls is short with one incline at the end, or you can walk along the creek. The man made path is lined with a stone wall and there's a stone bench and some big rocks at the end. The walk along the creek is easy to navigate. People used to cliff dive and swim here but on days like today, there's a strong circular current at the base of the falls. There's a big warning sign about the risk of falling or drowning near the start of the man made path. I also think parts of the restricted area are private property. The park was very busy today but there's so many different areas and lots of space. The amenities include the main playground and other older play sets, over a dozen covered shelters spread throughout the park rather than crowded together, a hardball diamond, tennis court and public restrooms. Another highlight is a structure reminiscent of Cinderalla's pumpkin carriage near the public restrooms that would be perfect for princess themed photo ops. Akron falls really has a lot of charm, but for some reason my experience here just fell a little too short. I first came here during the winter, and definitely wanted to come back and visit once the weather got warmer! This park has some nice trails you can walk along, which I think would be perfect if you're looking to bring your kids somewhere to hike (sort of as a beginner's trail!), and it's dog friendly as long as they're leashed and cleaned up after, so naturally I felt inclined to spend a couple of hours here with my pup, bring my camera and see what would happen! You can literally park anywhere. Following the roads you'll find open spaces if you prefer to park close to the road itself, or you could find where the pavilions are and park near there. I parked at the space across the road from the Rock Garden - there's some weathered away paved road that leads right down to a trail you can take to Akron Falls. We followed the trails in either direction - walking away from the falls, you come across a wide stretch of land with playgrounds/jungle gyms scattered about, as well as nice pavilions you can probably rent, or just bring a picnic basket and sit down at. If you walk past the arched road bridge (there's a bit of space that continues to the trail on the other side) there are more pavilions and playgrounds. The trail leading up to the high viewpoint for the falls left me a little disappointed. Basically the trail is littered with "DANGER" and "DO NOT GO BEYOND THIS POINT" signs, sort of making me feel like I shouldn't even bother trying to catch a view of the falls. The trail leading up to the viewpoint is pretty narrow, and when I got up there I found that the view of the falls itself was kind of terrible. You're sort of looking at it fro the side, as opposed to head-on, and with the summer foliage in full bloom, there were plenty of trees and bushes blocking what otherwise could have been a good look. If you go off the trail and try to climb over rocks to get close to where the falls pour into, you can't really make it very far either. Where the river bends, it's near impossible to find a dry spot to climb over. Having my dog with me I didn't want to risk anything. I felt like being unable to get a good look at the falls kind of makes this place lose its' luster? I mean, it is called Akron Falls park. What's the point if I can barely see Akron Falls? It all ended up being a bit of a deal breaker for an otherwise lovely little park. I see all the pleasant reviews of this place, and it makes me want to give it a second chance - cool caves? I'm curious. But if there's a better way of seeing the falls then clearly I've missed it. read more

I'm fortunate enough to have grown up in Akron and have spent many, many days going to Akron Falls Park. It is truly a hidden gem in WNY. The hike to the falls isn't too difficult and it's just a beautiful, peaceful place to be. It's great for photos too! I surprised my then girlfriend with a Valentines photo shoot there and we are planning to have pictures taken there after our wedding ceremony this year! I was here to watch a cross country race. Luckily The organizers reserved a shelter as the weather was "shaky". It looked as though it would rain at any minute; in fact it rained only for a few minutes, just at the start of the race! Not every little village has its own beautiful and undiscovered garden of nature with hikes and waterfalls and trailer park fights for your entertainment. But Akron does. We already know that Akron is the home of actor Dan Akron, who was in Ghostbusters among many other movies. But there is more to it than just that. I've been here only twice despite living about 5 minutes away from it. I absolutely love it here and will be coming back again a few times this summer. I came here both times with someone special. It was a beautiful memory, especially the second trip. Akron Falls Park is absolutely beautiful in the summer, and absolutely f*****g freezing in the winter, and that's pretty much the way it goes when you live in this region. You can hike along the river and find beautiful waterfalls. You can dodge kids running up and down the cliffsides (don't ask me how they do it, but they do). You can get asked to retreat back to the safety barrier by local law enforcement. You can literally watch trailer park people having brutal domestic fights in the parking lot, and get involved and try and break it up at great risk to yourself. Best of all, when leaving the park, you can notice two 18-25yr old girls wearing probably what they wore the previous night in the club, i.e. virtually nothing, and you can drive by slowly so as not to hit them since they are right in the middle of your traffic lane, and they can misconstrue your slow speed for "checking them out in a pervy way", and they can immediately, simultaneously give you the finger as you drive by, before repeating this act for the next person to drive by slowly (probably an old grandma. Do 75+ year-old grandmas even understand the finger?) I wasn't kidding about the waterfall though. It's pretty amazing. This park can be a little dirty but the waterfall makes up for it. This is a really easy trail. It's short and sweet and leads to a great view. Not challenging physically (~2 miles) but good for a fall hike to get out and breathe in the fresh air. The falls are pretty and there are lots of rocks to climb on by the base. There's also a back trail where you can nab some cool pics looking down the falls (be careful, you have to climb over a fence). That trail led to another set of falls that were smaller, but it's pretty and a little isolated. Apparently there are caves back there but we couldn't find them. I don't think we went far enough in and the water was a-flowin' so we didn't want to get cold and wet. For the kids there's lots of playground area to play. There are a few shelters nearby too for picnicking and relaxing, which we took advantage of after our hike. read more

Another beautiful destination we are lucky to have in Western New York. Akron Falls Park is exactly that: a park home of waterfalls and easy hikes. I've only been to Akron Falls once - this past fall - but I would definitely visit again! This is a great spot to check out fall foliage against the backdrop of a gushing waterfall. The actual hike down to the falls is relatively easy. While there are fences warning against climbing down the cliff, I did witness some individuals taking the risky route down to the falls. Not me, I like to abide by the rules for the most part so I took the paved path down. Once I got down to the creek I hopped rocks and got pretty close to the basin of the falls which made for some great pictures. There are a number of different activities available for your entertainment purposes at Akron Falls Park ranging from bicycling, hiking, photography, fishing to sports on the regulation basketball court, baseball and softball diamonds, tee-ball diamond, soccer fields, and tennis courts too! There are even winter activities like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating!! There are plenty of picnic areas as well but I think you are supposed to reserve those ahead of time. Sadly Akron Falls Park was a bust for us. We went last Saturday, one of the first warm days of spring, and it was PACKED. Like cars lined all up and down the roads, PACKED. So during this time of social distancing, that was not ideal. We parked on the road with the crowd, and weren't sure where to go. There were no signs anywhere to indicate where you are supposed to park, where the trails are, where the waterfall actually is, just people heading in every direction. We found what we think was the waterfall trail, and lasted not even five minutes. It is fairly narrow, and hoards of people kept coming by in packs. Most were wearing masks, but even so, way too close for comfort for my taste. My husband tried to take a couple photos of the creek, and could barely get a shot because as soon as he'd try a group of people were waiting behind him to get through. So we were unimpressed with Akron Falls Park at this juncture in time. Even if it wasn't packed during a pandemic, there is no signage to know what there is in the park, or where any of it is. Akron Falls Park is a beautiful park located in Akron. While one of its main features is the waterfall that gives it its name, there are many reasons to visit the park, such as hiking, biking, camping, photography, and outdoor gathering for a picnic. There are sheltered picnic areas, playground areas, and ball courts available here and there around the park. My husband and I visited the park for the waterfall. Sadly, when we went, the stream was only a slender current falling down the rocks instead of the impressive waterfall we knew it would could have been. We enjoyed the natural beauty of the pool surrounding the fall for a moment before continuing our path down the hiking trail. Here I must say that in a way, I'm glad that we went when we did. The rest of the park surrounding the trail was so cocooned by nature and serene and peaceful that it felt entirely like a different world far from civilization; I wouldn't have guessed that the man-made road made smooth with asphalt was only a ten-minute walk away. The entire walk to the end of the trail and then back, even with the stop to admire the waterfall, took less than thirty minutes, but it was still one of the best "nature walk" experience I've had. Maybe we just happened to take one of the shortest trails? After all, there are no clear trail markers except for the worn paths on the forest floor. Not what I was expecting, but it's a nice little park. We went for a destination hike and were disappointed. The "hike" to the waterfall was a short walk (less than a mile round trip). However, we filled out the time by walking around the roads and paths. There is lots of parking and paved roads. Plenty of shelters for parties. We rented the Cummings lodge for a party and were very pleased with everything. The location is is outside of the park so easily accessed from the main road. The building itself was very spacious so it's perfect for a large party ,it also had a full kitchen for food prep and private bathrooms for guests, and everything was very clean. There was a playground for kids to play as well as a grassy area where you can set up additional lawn games. We were lucky to have a nice day so we had guests enjoying the outside while some decided to stay inside but it would be perfect for a party that requires indoor accommodations as well. The price was very good considering you get to rent it for the entire day until dusk. read more

Super quiet park that is kept clean. The falls are a little hard to access. Must be able to walk down a dirt path and steep hill or use stone steps to get there. The pavilion was easy to rent and the garbage cans were clean. The pavilion has a sign that says reserved so when there were people there using it they left easily.
