This is such a beautiful park to enjoy a nice walk, jog, a bike ride or to go fishing (no spots to play sports of any kind here). There are a couple small grassy areas you can sit with a blanket and have a small picnic, eat lunch or bring your own lawn chair and enjoy a book. Plenty of benches to sit down, relax and enjoy the view of the water. In addition, the trees provide lots of shaded areas to appreciate as you walk through the paved trail on a hot summer day. Lastly, there are a lot of droppings from the geese (the children were stressing about avoiding it). I didn't see a playground during my walk but there is a very nice playground available for the children in front of the library that is located adjacent to the park entrance - you'll see it. I used my GPS to get here and parked at the courthouse parking lot, there was a path to where the trail starts - in my photos. Bring bug spray and sunblock in the summer and enjoy a stroll after a good meal. Rated this park four stars because I would probably only come back to take a walk if I'm already in the area but there's nothing here you absolutely have to see if you were visiting Buffalo. However, the park is beautiful and serene. If there was more to do or picnic tables for families to sit and eat, I would give it five stars.

Interesting facts learned on fireflies: they like leafy dark areas, eat slugs, and snails and really lite up the park. If you want something low-key and easy to get to this is the perfect spot. I was very pleased at how clear the sand was, perhaps they are using some kind of equipment to get the rocks and wood off the beach because unlike other freshwater beaches I didn't have an obstacle course to get to the water. The life guards were professional but not oppressive. It was a very relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Would definitely come again if ever in the area.

Today it was crowded, the Blue Angel squadron was at the outer harbor so it was a great view from here.. on a hot day, the breeze was everything! The ice cream/ snack shop serves Charlaps and is clean and very new looking! I didn't get any ice cream but it sure looked good as it walked past us in the hands of children of all ages! Very nice day at the park, go here if you like water and sunsets!

The Tonawanda Creek Rd entrance (across from Amherst Veteran's park) has information on the park including a trail map. 2. The Sweet Home Rd entrance (at Glenhaven Dr) has a garbage can and parking spaces, but no trail map or information is posted (as of Sep. 2020). I'd recommend parking at the other lot. This park is nice if you want to take a walk in the woods and feel surrounded by nature. My only criticism is that the trail wasn't well maintained. There were huge tire tracks and flooded in some spots. Also, although it was nice to be engulfed by nature, the trails themselves aren't very scenic. Although the trail is flat, its not smooth. Fine for walkers and trail runners, but I wouldn't recommend roller blading or bringing a stroller. The park is managed by the Town of Amherst.

We started our bike ride on the Shoreline Trail at Niawanda Park and rode through this park. Not…read moreonly is there plenty of parking and benches, but there is a pretty gazebo and another terrace. There is one small playground between Niawanda Park and here, and another playground just a little bit past with swings. There was some sort of hot dog place, but it doesn't appear to be open. I'm not sure if there were accessible bathrooms or not. This stretch of the trail also looks updated. The lines appear freshly painted and the surface is smooth. Next time we ride along the Shoreline trail we might start here instead. It also seems a little less busy.

Worth a visit if you're in the area.
