First ever stop at a Del Taco, I was looking for a quick lunch and this was the winner, it's like a step above Taco Bell with a broader menu with burgers , fries and shakes aside from the Mexican fast food options. I had 2 crunchy taco combo with fries and also tried the tamales. The tacos were about same as Taco Bell , but the pork tamales were the shining star of my lunch, I think they were a limited time item. They were real deal, wrapped and steamed in corn husk with a shredded pork filling , had a great corn flavor and the pork filling was very flavorful, with a little DelTaco hot sauce they were very good. Full disclosure, I love Del Taco. Discovered this California inspired, fast food joint during lockdown and haven't looked back at T-Bell. Mexican food shouldn't be expensive and it should always taste fresh & flavorful. Del meets me on both requirements without having to venture very far off Cobb Parkway. The Epic Burrito and crinkle cut fries are a game changer for late night cravings. I ordered mine through the Del Taco app and then picked up inside the restaurant. It was fairly easy despite waiting at the counter for a few minutes before anyone came to help me. The inside was clean and bright and staff looked like they were hard at work with a busy drive thru. For $12 bucks I got an Epic Burrito with guacamole and steak, a Del Taco, a grilled chicken soft taco, and a bean & cheese with red sauce. It was a convenient, budget friendly option for folks looking for some decent fast food eats. Would definitely come back to this location. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this Del Taco location on July 6th was unacceptable and deserves to be shared. My family and I went through the drive-thru to grab a quick meal, but we were met with some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. First, we were told after placing our order that the drinks we selected were unavailable. That was frustrating, but we were willing to adjust. Then, shockingly, we were told they had run out of beef because it had been "a busy day." To top it off, the employee at the window actually said, "I advise your family to go somewhere else because it's a busy day and we ran out of everything." I was stunned. That kind of response shows a complete lack of professionalism and preparation. If you're running a restaurant--especially one serving tacos--how do you run out of beef? Needless to say, we took his advice and went elsewhere. Came here for lunch because I was very hungry after leaving the Atlanta Braves' Chopfest 2020 at Truist Park. Del Taco restaurants, headquartered in Orange County (Southern California) are all over Southern California, where I'm from, and I wanted something that reminded of SoCal. I think that the food at this location in Smyna tastes a little different. I think it's better than any Taco Bell, though, and prices are reasonable. I ordered the #9 - a Del Beef burrito, taco, fries and drink. The Del Beef burrito tasted good, but didn't seem as spicy as the ones that I was used to. The burrito tasted even better with the hot sauce packets spicing it up. The crinkle fries were also good - just slightly crispy and not highly salted like at Mickey D's. The taco, which was supposed to be crunchy, seemed on the stale side and was not so crunchy. Also, it was supposed to be a beef taco, which it was, but more than half of the filling was grated cheese. The iced tea was also good since no one can screw up iced tea, right? The person behind the cash register was quick and efficient. The employees preparing the food were slow. They have a timer displaying the running time for each order, and customers who order inside at the counter are able to see how long the employees have taken to prepare their order. It took almost 17 minutes for the employees to get my order to the counter. An no, they weren't waiting for the fries to cook, either. They were just ... slow. At least they didn't get my order incorrect. Service at the drive through seemed to be a lot faster. Maybe I should've ordered my food at the drive through to get my food faster and then brought it into the restaurant to eat. Tonight, whoever was working, the window had the worst attitude I've ever experienced in a fast food restaurant I could overhear him getting into an argument with the guy in front of me, and then proceeded to try to get into an argument with me, because he was incompetent at his job. If you don't know how to work a drive-through window don't work at a drive-through restaurant. I've not eaten at a Del Taco before, so when the guys suggested it I expected different. It's a bit like Taco Bell with the infinite combination of protein with veggies but it's a step above in terms of taste and comfort. I also liked the salsa bar, which wasn't quite like a Moe's but it's a nice try. Tables were cleaned regularly and people are expected to bus their own trash. First time visiting Del Taco so I decided to try several different things to get a feel for the menu. I ordered a beyond taco that was pretty runny, not my fave. Next was the vegetarian bean and cheese burrito and the rice was hard, no excitement there. I personally like Taco Bell's cheesy bean and burrito because the bomb spicy chipotle sauce. The place is fine - reasonably fast service despite your usual disaffected teenage fast food employees, fresh and hot food with adequate toppings, etc. I just didn't like the taste of the food. Especially the bean burrito. If I had a guess, I'd say it's the seasoning they use for the beans and ground beef. It's very strong and has a pretty overpowering taste. Not spicy. Just...a strange flavor, maybe. Part of the problem may have been that I am very used to Taco Bell, so any other kind of Mexican fast food may not sit well. It's in a great location by the mall, it's really nice and clean, the service was great, and there was lots of staff on hand. I've had Del Taco only once, and that was in Cali like 10 or 15 years ago, so I didn't really know what to expect. The food was just okay and despite all of the other positives listed above, the food is the most important thing. I ordered a beef and cheese burrito combo with a hard taco and fries, and my wife ordered the Macho Nachos. We both felt that something was missing, but neither of us could put our finger on it. The meat in all three items tasted okay, but it had a very grainy texture. The fries were really good though. I thought it was kind of funny that the best thing I got from Del Taco was French fries... The pricing is decent and the service was really quick despite the long line. The employees close the store whenever they want. This is the only place open when I get off work at 3-4am and every single time I've found myself starving after work and in their line I end up waiting for 30 minutes before an employee tells everyone in line "their system is down" and they're closing early. This is not for lack of customers. The line is always wrapped around the building. Either pay your employees more so they have incentive to actually do their jobs until closing time or change your hours. It's getting REAL old. read more
