The asada meat is more fat and cartilage and al pastor meat was okay but I've had better . The tortilla for my taco seemed reheated in the microwave. Quality and price do not match. Would not recommend.

I WANTED TO LOVE IT. FRIENDLY SERVICE AND VERY CLEAN !…read more The food fell very short for me. Kind of what the last review said, the quality wasn't there although the prices are pretty steep. Service/ ambiance: 5/5. The woman and man working there are so kind, and really wanted to help answer all the question I had. I really appreciate that! I also really loved the way it was decorated. It's very cute and gives family yet Moriscos vibes. Pricing: 2/5 2 tacos and 1 tostada was almost 30.00. I did buy an extra sauce ($1.15) But ultimately the pricing here (in my humble opinion) is a bit unfair for what you're getting. Food: 1/5 Ah. I feel so guilty because I wanted to love this place, yet I ended up not even liking it. The marlin tostada was so salty it tased like it was dipped in the ocean. I'm not sure why or If it was a mistake? But I absolutely didn't eat it after 1 bite. The 2 "GOBERNADOR" dorado tacos were the opposite, they were so SWEET. I was not expecting that nor did I want that. I made sure to ask for the dressings on the side just to be sure and ahhh. . . I never in my life had sweet tacos, and I never want any again, lol. The avocado salsa was a 10. It was actually amazing and glad I purchased a side of it. I will def eat it with chips. All in all- I will not be back. However, I want to strongly suggest trying it for yourself. My bf and I had the best Marlin tacos in Mexico ( I seriously salivate thinking about it) and maybe my expectations were just extremely high. I also feel maybe I just should have tried to order something else. I do wish these kind people the best!

I recently went on a late Saturday morning & it was packed as hell. The last time I had been here was maybe 5 years ago on a weekday late afternoon & it was kind of empty. I ordered a chile relleno burrito & they gave me an electronic thingy that would vibrate when my food was ready, like Olive Garden. I drove to a nearby liquor store & chilled in my car prob 15 min. Orders aren't fast in other words. So I eat it at home, it withstood the travel & the time. The tortilla they used is greasy & pliable yet firm It's a small Size in my opinion. Like if you ordered a 6 inch at Subway , you know you're scarfing it down. So this burrito I finished it & didn't feel like a pig after. The hot sauce they give as an accompaniment had tons of flavor, not a lot of heat technically but a lot of flavor. All in all the burrito was very, very delicious & I will still return & recommend but if you're starving or hoping that you can make this into two meals, it ain't gonna happen! I forgot the price, but I remember not feeling shocked when I tapped my card

Another Eat the World LA Find…read more La Casita Mexicana -- another Eat the World LA find that did not disappoint! I first visited while I was in the area with my best friend, who is also half Argentinian like me and does modeling as a hobby. She had just finished another successful photoshoot on the Eastside of Los Angeles, made great connections, and got some amazing content. It was getting late, and we wanted to start heading back home toward the freeway, but we were starving. We both love food and get the munchies now and then, but we also wanted to celebrate her latest milestone, so I suggested La Casita Mexicana. The ambiance was like stepping into a little casita in Mexico -- bright, colorful, vibrant, and welcoming. The staff were friendly, too. We tried an appetizer and shared the Enchiladas Tres Moles. Granted, I've never had truly authentic mole, but I've had versions of mole that were not good. The mole here, however, was out of this world delicious. Even the mole that came with the dinner chips as their "salsa mole" was fantastic. I remember thinking, I feel like I'm experiencing Michelin-star-level food in the middle of the LA barrio. And honestly, that's the beauty of the barrio. There are culinary diamonds all over Los Angeles -- you just have to give them a chance and be willing to try somewhere new. I've since returned with my boyfriend, and the food has never disappointed. For a little personal context, I'm half Argentinian and half Mexican. Although the Mexican side of my family is from Guadalajara and Sonora, I didn't grow up eating Jalisco-style cuisine, so exploring different regional Mexican cooking has been especially fun for me. It's always interesting discovering flavors and traditions that are part of my own heritage but weren't necessarily part of my upbringing. La Casita Mexicana is definitely one of those places I'm glad I ventured out for -- and another successful Eat the World LA discovery.

The chorizo was a bit too salty for my taste, but the cecina more than made up for it and honestly was my favorite of the three. The carne asada was solid too, cooked just right and full of flavor. Before the food even came out, they brought us chips with mole, and those were perfect on their own, a worthy palette opener while we waited! Service was great the entire meal, our server checked in often without hovering and made the whole experience feel special. For a birthday dinner with the family, it was just right.

Service is attentive, the food has its charm with in-house made tortillas. It really was a hard review to write because all the elements of a great restaurant is embodied in this hidden gem. I chalk it up to ordering the wrong items. The flavors did not pop for me. Hubby opted for the chorizo and he said it was decent and he described it as "diet chorizo"--that he'd probably needed to go back to Sinaloa to capture the true essence of "real" chorizo, the way it's meant to be. The star of his meal was the in-house made flour tortillas-now that's authentic! This is/was the reason that it leaned towards a 4 star. These looked and tasted phenomenal. The aroma took me back to the times when we visited Rosarito's Puerto Nuevo, as the lady made the tortillas by hand & pressed them in the comal, ahh, good times. I ordered the vegetarian omelette with beans & potatoes. The omelette was decent with fresh bell peppers & onions but the seasoning was so mild that I requested for salt & pepper. The potatoes appeared well seasoned in color but lacked that oomph that salt & pepper couldn't fix. My apple pancakes were average. While I appreciated the strawberry compote, there was no apple or apple taste in them. To wash everything down, I had cafe de olla, that was good. The aroma of the brown sugar & cinnamon was ever present. Estrella, our server was very welcoming, attentive and friendly, she gets 5 stars for her service with a smile & hospitality. Their lunch & dinner menu looked very appealing but we wanted breakfast items. We wish we were both molé enthusiasts then perhaps we would've better appreciated & enjoyed those offerings. Both indoor & outdoor seating (front & rear), parking is free & shared with their liquor store at this corner small plaza. Beware, no restrooms available. I'm glad we gave this little shop a try.

The meal started with complimentary chips served alongside both a sweet mole and a savory, tangy mole sauce. It was something I'd never experienced before, and it was incredibly delicious. For dessert, our waiter recommended the plantains in tequila sauce paired with a café de olla. They were so amazing that we completely devoured the dessert before I even remembered to take a picture! As first-time visitors, my guests and I were genuinely impressed by the quality of the food, the authentic flavors, and the warm service. Day one- i had Filete à la Veracruzana, comes with rice beans and salad and some delicious homemade tortillas that are so soft. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious it had plenty of the sautéd veggies and green olives, they do have pits so beware , the refried beans are smooth and have a lot of flavor, the rice was also very good! Hubby got their trio combo which has chile relleno, enchilada and carne asada and of course this yummy rice n beans. Each item also had lots of flavor. The salad although simple had nice avocado chunks and pickled red onions which i love! We each literally cleaned our whole plate! So next day when I asked "what should we have for dinner?" We both said we were craving it again. So this time I had the filete al mojo de ajo with shrimp on top. And hubby got a plate of red enchiladas with chicken. Again the food was delicious and we practically licked our plates clean. The place is not too busy so I hope more people will go and keep them in business. We will definitely become regulars there.
