Coincidentally decided to book a reservation here, and then heard the next day that they were shutting down! Sad news, because we really enjoyed the pizza here! The service was great. It was amazing being able to watch them, make the pizza dough fresh. We also had the cauliflower which was honestly really good a bit oily, but the taste was phenomenal and my meat eating friends had the crap which they were presently surprised by. The only bad thing is, we did come on a very hot day, so it was very hot inside the restaurant. We had the margarita pizza, the trumpet mushroom, and then the sausage one. The price for the quality of the pizza is honestly unmatched. We thought it was so reasonable even the trumpet mushroom and the meat pizza which usually have a higher up charge at other restaurants were in the mid-20s. Would definitely love to grab another pizza here before they close

Pretty good for dinner! We visited Del Popolo on a Thursday evening, having made a reservation in advance. Our host led us through the interior which featured a huge wood-fired pizza oven, dim lighting, and a cool gallery wall of old portraits. However, we were seated on the back patio, which was a bit secluded and quieter. I skipped drinks and ordered the Marinated Beets appetizer to share with a friend. These were fantastic! The beets were perfectly cooked and paired so well with the goat cheese and pumpkin seeds. I also tried some of the Crispy Cauliflower, which was also top-notch. For pizza, the only protein option was pork (which I don't eat), so I went with the classic Margherita. This was pretty solid, although Neapolitan pizza isn't typically my favorite. The portion size was generous and I had a few leftover slices that went great with hot honey the next day. Service was friendly and relatively quick!

I was excited to try this place, but the food was a major letdown to me. We made a reservation for the back patio, and the patio was really cute. To start, they only have a QR code menu, and my phone wasn't working, so my partner and I had to share a menu on his phone. We got the focaccia to start. It was alright, but in desperate need of an olive oil dip. It also was one giant piece, where we had to break off our own pieces. Ok flavor of the actual bread, but overall a miss. Next, we got the marinara pizza and the Nduja pizzas. The marinara was SO bad - I can't recommend NOT getting this pizza enough. The lack of cheese is questionable, but the garlic and oregano flavors were just not it. The Nduja was also a major miss, the scamorza affumicata cheese was.... unique, but not great. And the sausage was also unique, but there were like ~10 pieces on the whole pie. The service was alright - a bit rushed and a couple small requests were forgotten. But the food was soooo overpriced and really not good, and IMO in need of a major refresh/overhaul.

Potato pizza with guanciale

Oh Del Popolo thank you for always fulfilling my Neapolitan pizza craving. I haven't been here in a long time, but it's still as good as it used to be! For starters, my mom and I ordered the Caesar salad and the beets appetizer. The beets were paired with herbed Humboldt fog goat cheese, chervil, and pumpkin seeds. It was a great flavor combo, but it just needed a little salt. The Caesar salad was also really tasty but wish it had a more sardine flavor. We ordered sardines to be added and that fulfilled our salty craving. Personally, the pizzas are a little soggy for my liking and wish they were a little more flaky/crispy but the flavor profiles are amazing. We ordered the potato pizza with guanciale and the Margherita and we were so pleased with the bold flavors. The potato pizza has a rosemary kick and the potatoes are so thin that you don't even realize you're eating carbs on carbs. The sauce on the Margherita pizza is also amazing. Don't forget to ask for their chili oil on the side! Besides the amazing food, the service was really amazing and the overall ambiance is very welcoming for a date night or family dinner!

The crust was so chewy and soft with a great charred flavor. I got the potato pizza and it was really yummy. Despite the pizza having potatoes on it, it felt surprisingly really light and I think it's because the dough. We also got Hugo spritz and they were good. Another great pizza spot in sf! This location is also really central and has a lot of other bars around it for after dinner

Neighborhood staple. Go on a nice evening and grab the patio table at the far end and feel like you have the whole place to yourselves. We love everything. Last time we tried the crab which was messy but still delicious. The pizza has a nice char on it. The olives are warm and salty. The people are always warm and friendly. Sad to see it go. Excited for whatever comes next.

Even tho the service was really slow at first the vibes were right and the food was really good, which made up for the slow service. Enjoyed a glass of Lambrusco, the burrata with persimmon, pomegranate, and arugula, very fresh and balanced. Caesar salad was yummy but I didn't like the parm fried crumble bits, I prefer regular parm. Next was the potato onion pizza, the dough they used is phenomenal, sourdough in texture and flavor it seemed. Really yummy and chewy with a bit of stretch and didn't fall apart or flop too bad, potatoes were creamy and soft. Kiwi sorbetto for dessert and omg they achieved a really potent flavor. Great meal.

Our last meal at Del Popolo, truly the end of an era Jordan our server was excellent - his warm demeanor and excellent drink and food recos made it the perfect night. I even had the gf pizza for the first time and it was perfection - something so hard to find and wow, now it will be no more. Pls visit if you have a chance before they close.

Great restaurant w open kitchen, brick oven, and a hidden downstairs outdoor dining area too. Great service. Steak and potatoes was good not great but good. A tad heavy e the sea salt. The salmon was good. Caesar salad was good too. Pizza w potatoes was good as well. Good wine selection. This is a good place for dinner.

Solid pizza + wine bar near the SF Masonic. Came with a friend around 5:30 p.m. on a Thursday. I recommend making reservations, as they fill up quickly, even on weeknights! The weather was beautiful, so we snagged a table in their garden patio. We ordered meatballs and the shishito peppers to start, and corn pizza to share. For drinks, my friend ordered a glass of their Vouvray Chenin Blanc, while I took advantage of their non-alcoholic options and tried an NA Negroni and a glass of their NA Riesling. The wines (both regular and NA) were top-tier, especially the Riesling which paired perfectly with the pizza. However, I could pass on the NA Negroni next time. While it was beautiful to look at, it lacked flavor and was too sweet for my taste. The meatballs were surprisingly amazing. They had a rich, savory flavor and were definitely worthy of a repeat order. The pizza crust had a nice chewy char, but the jalapeno and corn flavor combination was a bit boring. The sweetness from the corn felt flat, almost like canned kernels sprinkled on top after the pizza was baked. Perhaps charring the corn beforehand would elevate the flavors here? Overall, Del Popolo is a solid dinner spot if you're already in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't go out of my way for a visit. If you go, enjoy the wine selection and those meatballs!

Went here for a birthday dinner and was transported to what felt like another land sitting in the back patio. The greenery and breeze felt like I was in a jungle. Our server was attentive and friendly and we ordered the meatballs and two pizzas. This was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Definitely recommend adding the chili flakes and chili oil on the pizza. We also used the sauce from the meatballs to dip our pizza, our server's suggestion. 10/10 would return, dreaming of coming back soon.

Grilled Calamari

I am disappointed that my experience was not as good as everyone else's. I've had this place on my list of must-tries for the past year and recently had the opportunity. I had made a reservation earlier in the week which I highly recommend since it was busy when we arrived at 8pm on a Friday. We were about 10 minutes early and waited 20 minutes to be seated in the back patio. The ambiance of back patio was chill and decorated with pretty lights. It was nice to be seated outside since the inside of the restaurant was packed. We ordered quickly, and waited around 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive. It was around 9pm and that point we were very hungry. Unfortunately the food and experience was not great. We had asked for the appetizer dish and pizza to come at the same time which seemed to set off a number of mishaps. King Trumpet Mushroom Pizza with Guanciale added: Honestly when it arrived, it was cooled like it had been sitting outside for a while. It was starting to get cold outside and we had been looking forward to eating fresh hot pizza. The pizza was wet and the mushroom was flavorless. The only thing that helped out was the guanciale since it added saltiness to the dish, but I wish there was more considering it was $5 to add. The one thing from this that I very much enjoyed, was the pizza dough and crust. It was light, airy, and chewy, with a good char flavor on the crust. Grilled Calamari: This arrived later than the pizza and the server had let us know that it would be late. We think the reason the pizza has turned cold was because the calamari had been delayed. It tasted fine, it was spicy and was balanced with the acidity of the lemon. The potatoes was also a nice surprise. We originally considered getting desert but changed our minds based on the experience with dinner. Separate of our experience with the food, service was good. Our server was attentive and nice.

Margherita pizza

All I can say is, Raffaele Esposito (traditionally credited with the Margherita pizza) would be proud of this establishment. If you are in the area, seriously, GO! Hands down, best pizza experience of my life! Great environment.

The entire pizza had shifted in the box, slices were folded over, grease was splattered all over the lid, and it was no longer hot by the time it arrived. What made this even more frustrating was the amount paid for delivery. In addition to the food cost, I paid a $3.99 delivery fee, a $5.70 service fee, and tipped the driver $5.50. For that kind of added cost, I think it's reasonable to expect the pizza to arrive level, intact, and hot. The restaurant is about 4 miles from my house, and it appeared the delivery was made by bicycle, which may explain why the pizza ended up tilted and damaged during transport. I can't say that for certain, but something clearly went wrong between the restaurant and my door. The pizza itself may have been good fresh out of the oven, but the delivery experience completely ruined it.
