One star is generous & undeserving. Where do I start? SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING! I purchased a $65 VIP ticket to an event at this venue. The ticket I paid for promised brunch, unlimited mimosas from 1-3pm and a show from 1pm to 3pm. I want to make sure to point out that this review has no reflection of the event planner or the amazingly talented performers. We were seated after 1pm, the mimosas were poured and ready at the bar but off limits! We were finally "allowed" to go to the bar and get our drinks after 1:20pm. Once approaching the bar the owner/bartender started yelling "one per person ladies, one per person!" Aggressively and loud. This was his first action of intimidation we witnessed. The show started and our drinks were quickly finished. We were seated with our backs to the bar and we asked the owner/bartender if he could pass us new drinks. He laughed at us and said we have to get up and go to the bar, literally feet away and he continued to wash glasses. Then he told us we can't get up during the show! Another form of intimidation. I asked the owner/bartender if he expected gratuity without serving us. He then laughed again at me and said "ya, I will take a $100 tip!" and he told me he isn't working today. This was another form of intimidation. He was propositioning me for a $100 tip! Some of us got fed up on his mimosas poured 2/3 juice and 1/3 sparkling wine that we couldn't even get so we bought cocktails. The show finished just after 2pm and the owner/bartender decided he wasn't pouring anymore mimosas as well, although our ticket stated unlimited mimosas until 3pm. Our large group of 15 we brought got up and hit the dance floor as the DJ was spinning music for everyone now to dance. We looked over at our table and the owner/bartender had taken ALL of our drinks off of our table and they were now in a group of dirty glasses on the bar! I approached him and asked what he was doing, this is where the intimidation got severe! The owner/bartender started yelling in my face that he had to clear for the next party! I explained we paid for those drinks, he offered to re make them and then instead of going behind the bar and making said drinks HE TOOK THE TABLE CLOTHS OFF THE TABLE! We still had people seated at the table and the event was not over yet! At this point we were done! We ALL left the dance floor, grabbed our purses and belongings and promptly left. NEVER have I ever seen an owner behave so poorly. This place is a scam. I feel horrible for the performers who had to deal with this ill behaved grown adult. This owner made me feel unsafe. I was also intimidated to make this review for fear of retaliation, however I will not live in fear. He cannot change who I am, but he can change where I chose to spend my $ and time! DO NOT EAT, DRINK, VISIT, OR LISTEN TO MUSIC AT THIS VENUE. We vote for local businesses with our pocket books. See something, say something! read more

The best wings in town! The chef is amazing and now has a ton of sides to choose from. Very comfortable place to have a meal and relax.

Amazing ribs. Got a whole rack today and they were amazing. BBQ sauce was great and they were cooked to perfection. They fell off the bone. Next time, I'm going to get some sides. Will definitely be back. read more

I suggest you guys to please be careful at the bar, the bar tender decided to tip her self with out my permission that's fraud I talk to the owner and he fixed it. I could imagine she's doing the same to drunk people please be careful. read more

My husband & I, on our 2nd honeymoon, found Deja Blue in a magazine of Monterey destinations. We arrived here late afternoon for dinner & jazz music. We were not disappointed in either! Our waitress, Jojo, was a joy - she has a glowing, hospitable, spirit. She's awesome. When the set was over, we met Leon Joyce (he had Sat in for the absent drummer!). He introduced himself to us at our table & chatted a bit, then did the same the same at each table. The people here really care that their customers are happy. We returned the next day for more. The food is truly Southern; reminded me of my Grandmother's cooking. My husband enjoyed their fried catfish & bacon wrapped meatloaf. I loved their tri-tip sandwich & Bbq'd ribs! Was expecting more but wasn't impressed. To expensive to begin with but Michelle's was closed so we gave it a try. Catfish was just ok and sides were nothing special. Ribs were probably baked and smothered in way to much store bought bbq sauce. $5 for a coke...yeah no thanks. Table next to us had the chicken wings and they looked good. I hadn't been out in a while so a friend suggested I go here with him. The place is really nice and clean and the jazz performances was awesome. Great food choices. I ordered the oxtails over rice and had the yams and mac and cheese. For dessert I had the peach cobbler it just came out the oven nice and hot. Love how the owner came over and asked if everything was ok. Servers were also great. I will definitely be back for more. read more

I never left a review before but for this place I absolutely had to!! We showed up on salsa night and it was so much fun. They teach you a couple basic steps (which I thought was really cool for those that don't know how to dance) and then once the music starts it doesn't stop! I wasn't going to share the terrible experience I had at this establishment but after reading Christen J.'s review / experience I felt the need to speak up as well. I too, purchased a "VIP" ticket to this event but was scheduled for the first show. This is not a reflection of the event coordinator or performers, they were lovely. This negative experience has everything to do with the owner. From the beginning, he acted rude, unwelcoming and inconvenienced. We got up to get our first round of mimosas and he said we needed to go sit down and that he would serve us because we were "VIP". Then he came over and said we needed to get up to get our drinks. Fine, whatever. The line was long and he was aggressively asking for everyone's wrist bands (they were all in plain sight) as if we are all rushing to rip him off. I decided to buy a drink so that I wouldn't have to keep getting up for more fruit juice, topped with champagne. One member of our party ordered a tequila shot and asked if he could chill it. He laughed at her and said " I don't have time for that". When the show ended, he started grabbling people's unfinished drinks and turning tables over as people were sitting at them. At this point it is 12:30. We only learned there was a show at 1pm when we got there, this was not advertised when we bought our tickets. I wouldn't have spent $65 on VIP for unlimited mimosas when unlimited meant "one hour". The most upsetting part is when I went to grab my friends, who were out back. The owner said "Excuse me, you are walking the wrong way. You need to walk that way and leave, we have another show". I told him I was going to get my friends so that we could leave and he wouldn't let me and said he would go out there. I finally asked him what his problem was and pointed out he's been rude from the get go. He assured me in a condescending and aggressive manner that it wasn't personal. It most certainly was personal to myself and everyone else who paid for a VIP experience only to be treated like we were there to wreck havoc and rip him off. After I left, my friends said he came out and essentially chased them out with a broom. It would be comical if the reality weren't that this business owner makes his guests feel intimidated, unwelcomed, and unsafe. Lastly, the brunch wasn't good either but the servers were so kind. I was hesitant to even comment on the food because apparently if you do, the owner will tell you that you need to take a COVID test because you have COVID taste buds? I'm sure he will have something rude to say to the negative reviews that will be rolling in after this Valentine brunch fiasco too because he clearly is not in the game of customer service. read more

There is no parking, but the main issue is the food, expensive and poor quality. Having to scrape the dirty dried food off the plate was not helpful either. I don't like to leave bad reviews but I see where it would have been helpful for me, hopefully it helps someone else. Many better choices right in the vicinity. read more

My friends and I stopped by Deja Blue out of curiosity. They have live jazz and a Soul Food menu. It is on the expensive side but good. We had the ribs and chicken wings. They had some difficulty with our bill but it was sorted out eventually. We paid and I was waiting for my friends to wash up and the manager tells me to take off my hat (I wore a SF Giants hat). He muttered something about beanies and sports team hats not being allowed. There was no notice outside of a dress code. I found my friends and as we were walking out I noticed someone else wearing a Giants hat. I guess I was being singled out for some reason? Or they only tell you after you spend an hour eating and drinking? Either way I won't be back. read more
