Deerfields has has wonderful bread at a very reasonable price but some of their prices are a little out there. You really have to look at the prices and think if you are able to get the same thing for a lower price somewhere else. Can't say I've had any problems there but I just feel that for certain products there are better deals elsewhere. read more

I was searching for the perfect bachelorette party cake and asked their customer service about a cake purchased by friends 5 years ago. They couldn't find it at the time, but took down my number and vowed to research it. They found it and emailed a picture to me. The cake was a huge hit and tasted delicious! A brides wedding is the most important day of her life . The other most important thing at a wedding is the flowers and the cake ! Well at my wedding the flowers where perfect the day day was perfect ! The cake how ever was not perfect! It was pretty and tasted very good ! But the cake had a spot where there use to be frosting ! The design was pretty but the color was wrong my mom order pink not peach ! The big part was the cake topper was missing ! The carting staff said they only had the cake and nothing else ! So me and my mom and husband went to the bakery to find out what happen to it! The store manger thought that we where playing a game and pretended that it was our venues fault. In fact it was sitting in the window by a computer ! He said he couldn't do any thing and that all he could do is give us 50 percent back ! He also was smiling the whole time like it was funny ! Not so much ! Now we have to wait for some one else to call us to resolve the issue! we will never use Deerfield again and I will make sure all my friends don't use Deerfield either ! Rude management at this location and horrible customer service from corporate. I tried to order a cake with a simple custom design, but the manager was very rude and difficult to deal with. She even refused to put icing flowers on the cake, even though I was paying extra for a custom design!...what kind of cake maker won't put flowers on a cake?!? It was supposed to be a special cake for my wife's 30th birthday, but it turned out to be plain and very boring. I was extremely disappointed with the whole experience. I called customer service and after waiting on hold for 10 minutes, they told me to send them an email of my issue. So I sent the email almost a week ago and haven't gotten a response at all. They are so unprofessional and rude, I will never go there again. After talking to a friend about my experience, she told me that the exact same manager was very rude to her a few years ago too, and so she hasn't gone back since. Save your money, save the headaches, and just get your cake from Costco, where they actually care about customer service. read more

We live in the area but have not been to this bakery location in some time. Frankly I don't know what has happened here. New ownership; - - new management. The first thing I noticed when walking in was that all the help were low wage foreigners. None of the people I remember. I looked around and couldn't find anything I was looking for, and this was early A.M. Asked the East Indian manager and he almost took my head off, ranting "we don't make these things anymore". All we have is what you see , which was hardly anything compared to the wonderful selection I recall. So I settled for a couple of "bear claws" and a (so called) Hungarian Strudel. The bear claws were either WAY over baked or 2-3 days old. So dry they crumbled in my hand and mouth. The strudel was also very "unfresh" in consistency. Totally tasteless. And the prices were outrageous. What a shame. I have no idea what the other locations are like, and I don't think it would be worth the drive to find out. So all I can say is "beware". read more

I started going to Deerfield's when I lived in Buffalo Grove. They had a great selection and good quality. I live a little further now so I don't go their as often as I used to. My latest visits have been extremely disappointing. I usually get there on Saturdays around 8:30 and they have hardly any selection at all. They used to have coffee cake after coffee cake lined up and a wide variety to choose from. They had about 4 chocolate chip strips, a couple of almond strips and a couple of strudels on Saturday when I was there. They no longer have French donuts and not a whole lot of other donuts or danishes. I used to like their hard rolls but they very rarely have them now. And the bread.... what bread? I learned last year that they only really make challah around the holidays now. They always used to have them. I could not even get a loaf of buttercrust. It's pretty bad when you can't get a loaf of bread from a bakery at 8:30 am. All in all I don't go there very frequently any more. I much prefer Jarousch in Elk Grove Village. It's a little farther but they ALWAYS have a great selection and it's great quality. read more

I went to Deerfield Bakery for my daughters birthday cake and thought I would get something really good especially for the money it cost. and all the positive reviews on Yelp. I got a full sheet for nearly $85.00 and was told by their customer service that they had this great frosting. I ended up getting frosting that was inedible to say the least. The raspberry filling which I paid $21.00 for additional was like opening a jar of raspberry jam and spreading it on the cake. Which is a complement to the store bought jams because it was not even that good. I have paid high prices for cakes numerous times from various bakeries and have never been disappointed. The cake from Deerfield was a joke and an embarssment to the guests I had at the party. Nobody ate more than one or two spoons of their slice of cake. Nobody had anything good to say and even the kids who like frosting usually were disgusted. Do yourself a favor and by a cake from any food store or walmart/sams club before you by a cake from here, at least you'll know exactly what to expect which is still better than what you will get from here. read more

I walked in on a quiet afternoon and felt totally ignored. I had questions but every employee seemed to ignore my presence. Then when I finally caught the attention of an employee, she didn't know the answer to my question and had to hunt down a manager I'm assuming, who approached me very rudely with 'yes what do you want' in a very cold tone. Then was very short and left immediately. After looking around for a minute I decided I wanted a petite foure out of the cooler and had to stand around waiting for 10 minutes while the two employees laughed talking behind a counter while they put together boxes, again ignoring me and another lady customer who was also wanting an item out of the cooler. I looked up and saw the smoothie sign and decided to try one which took another 10 minutes for the young girl to make and it was very watery and bland. Then the young male cashier was very rude when I asked a question on my way out as well. I am so disappointed in this past trip, Deerfields! read more

I love Deerfields bakery, so on my way to work this morning, I thought that I would try the new drive thru at the Buffalo Grove location. I pulled in and gave my order very quickly. I pulled up and paid then had to wait more than 5 minutes for a long john, Iced Tea and organic muffin. I was the only person in line and it should not take that long for drive thru service. I can understand if I was asking for a hot beverage or hot food. I watched the 2 women that were working the window, talking and not really having a sense of moving quickly to get the customer out the door. As I pulled away I noticed that the muffin I received was different from what I ordered. I went back through the drive through to exchange it and got a new one but with a side of attitude. When I went to eat it the muffin was ice cold and not very good at all. Very disappointed with the drive thru window. Will not use if again - no convenience to me at all. read more

im a regular customer at deerfields bakery and i only go in there for coffee, but i went in there monday morning and decided to order some breakfast after 8 years and this guy made me the best breakfast burrito i ever had. he had to be new becuz i never seen him before but he was very nice and i would like him to cook my breakfast for 8 more years if possible! thank you for my experience mr. clarence....two thumbs up!:) read more
