I felt soooo relaxed in this yoga class, it was almost like doing meditation. We did some amazing stretches (she asked what we wanted to focus on & we all said stretching). While the class is a ton of fun, he doesn't neglect the technical aspects of yoga, and wants to make sure everyone is getting what they want from the class. So in addition to helping me become healthier on a physical level (flexibility, strength), Dylan likes to focus on the breath, which really helps relax the mind, and get rid of those stresses I seem to pick up on a day to day basis. Definitely recommend the class. I used to go from Queen Anne (a bit of a hike, so you know it's worth it) but now that I live in Fremont, it's just around the corner!)

Taj Yoga is an incredible studio and founder and teacher Theresa Elliot is a master of her craft and is always evolving and growing, sharing her enthusiasm and smart, safe movement practices in exciting ways without being snooty or woo-woo. Her classes are always fun and a good workout and I've learned immensely from her. The space is beautiful too with high ceilings, great light and solid maple floors. Wow! That was... SPECTACULAR…read more I bought a Groupon and was surprised that I could immediately redeem it online for a class within the same week. I took Hasna's 6pm class today and was blown away. I'm on "sabbatical" aka I quit my "grown up job" and am just bumming around indefinitely now, trying to make my heart sing. Well, sing it did... We got started a bit late (about 8 minutes, not that I'm keeping track or anything...) and it seemed to take forever to paddle into the middle of the water where we were to do our yoga thing, but it was a great workout and definitely worth the little trouble of hauling the board, etc. Oh I should tell you that I can't swim. And I was kneeling while paddling my way to the middle of the ocean (or is it lake? Whatever) because I was worried of falling into the water. However, somehow, once we were tethered to the buoy line, the board "felt" a lot more stable and I found myself downward doggy-ing on the board with no problem. It was such a surreal experience. All other on-ground yoga sessions from now on will be lame in comparison (unless James Franco shows up to the yoga class!). Between the water and the blue sky, I felt happy to be alive. I was proud of myself for the first time in a long time, for my ability to disregard the fear of falling into the water (and drowning and possibly but highly unlikely, dying) and to focus on my yoga practice instead. Warning, this is about to get so much cheesier... But I felt connected to God/the Universe/the Man Upstairs/the Higher Power and I started to truly believe that the Universe loves me ferociously, and wants me to be happy. #lifechanging (das right, had to insert a hashtag right there) OMG, is sobriety and fresh air making me delusional? There were seals okay!!! Cute seals flapping about as we were paddling into our yoga spot. And fish and seagulls. You can't help but fall in love with nature and the Universe and life all over again... Or almost for the first time, if you're me. Anyway, enough about the epiphany on water I had today. The staff were great, super friendly, helpful and encouraging. The freak factor is not high (aka it's not super hippie-ish). I dragged my sister along and unfortunately she didn't have as great a time as I did, but she was incredibly brave for being on the paddleboard for the first time and one of the staff (Andrew?) towed her and her board to the middle to help speed her along. Yay Hasna and the WASUP Yoga team! You made my heart sing :)

Vinyasa has been recommended to me, as I hear it's more dynamic in movement and can keep my tiny pea-brain occupied. I am fortunate to know Dawn Jansen; she is an extraordinary yoga instructor and when I heard about her handstand yoga class, I had to give it a try. 8 Limbs is right on Phinney and is easy to find. Lots of street parking, although I parked across the street and had to play human Frogger in order to get across the street. Once inside, I signed in and took off my shoes and entered the studio. It was much bigger than I thought it would be! They had mats that you could use there, which was good since I had accidentally left mine in the car and I feared that I wouldn't be able to jump on enough logs to Frogger my way back and forth again. This particular class was 1 hr and 45min, but I had to leave a little early to be someplace else. $40 was a great deal! As I've said, I'm not much into yoga. I would find myself in a sideways-lifting-leg-downward-dog position and look at everybody else to see if I was even close to doing it right. It seemed like I never was, even with the excellent instruction. I'm definitely down to try it again though!

The teacher was super kind and ensured we had a safe and inclusive atmosphere. A lot of the poses were hard for me during my first level 2 class and she was so great and welcoming to encourage me to do what felt comfortable in a safe way. Highly recommend this studio!

They now have water station at this location so it's great. Classes are always fun and challenge me to do new things or perfect what I know every time I come. I cannot speak in detail for each classes tho because it depends on the teacher. The hammock at this location has double anchor point so it's helping on balance and prevent spinning (compared to a single point).

From friendly instructors to clean facilities, I genuinely look forward to going to classes. There are lockers, bathrooms, showers, water fountains, and hanging racks available. Try to get to class at least 5 minutes before so you can get ready and settled into your mat. They also rent out mats and towels at the front desk. Most classes start on your back, which I love because it helps me clear my mind before class starts. My favorite instructors are Bekah, Chelsea, and Tami. Whenever I see their names on the schedule, I know I'm in for an excellent session. They're easy to hear throughout class and give clear, straightforward instruction that makes the practice accessible without unnecessary complexity or repetition. I highly recommend trying these instructors, though you really can't go wrong with any of the instructors here. There is street parking around the building and also a parking lot that you can access from 71st or 72nd street. It costs 4.99 for 90 minutes, but if you shop at PCC with a minimum purchase the charge is waived ( don't forget to get the coupon from PCC when you check out!)
