If your afraid but always wanted to scuba diving, it's the place, instructors very friendly, good explanation of theory, and most important really safe dive, instructor was always keeping everyone under control and making sure everyone is safe and ok.

Coming back from his certification dives.

My dive buddy and I were in town for the day on December 10th and needed to rent a couple things for our reef dive there in Lauderdale by the Sea.

They told us we'd go into the water at chest height and put the fins on, but it was more like neck height, and because none of us had inflated or learned how to properly inflate our vests in the water while fighting the current, it was a very tough experience. They should have given us more instructions and time to get acclimated to the water, to inflate and deflate our life vests, then once we looked and all felt good, taken us further out. I also think they should have had a boogie board or something for us if people needed a break while out in the water. I would not recommend for very beginners or first time snorkelers. *update: due to a rude response on a different platform, the rate has been lowered

For 20+ years of living in South Florida, I wanted to get my open water diving certification but every year, life happens. Through friends I found Aquatic Ventures by way of an awesome foundation called Dive4Vets and there began my adventure. Setting up my schedule couldn't have been easier. The staff here are...well, are you old enough to remember Cheers? If you are, it felt like that-as if we've known each other for years. Walking into the shop, there's a great selection of gear but I'm here to learn and learn I did! Classroom and pool day was my first experience trying to breathe underwater which is an odd thing. The following day, we were off to Tigertail Lake not too far away. Note: even though it was close to 90, the water temp was 76! Be prepared. Final dives were again in Tigertail due to uncooperative weather. Through the staffs instruction, I feel confident and comfortable being underwater and they truly care about each individuals progress and success. If you are already certified, check out their gear at great prices. If you're not certified, go! RUN! FLY! To Aquatic Ventures. If you're a disabled vet, give Dive4Vets a look!

Z even helped me on my 2nd day of certification in the open water. It was such a nice dive out in the reef. On my 3rd and final day I had Moe and Laura to help me with my final portion of certification. It was a great time as I got to see a turtle and tiny crab that dive. I corkscrew have had a much better experience at this place. Oh I forgot to mention, I drove in from Tampa as I was recommended this Dive Shop. I hope to come back and dive with them on a trip or two they have planned on the coming months.

As I walked by the shop the amazing floor art caught my attention as well as a fun little dog, Ripley, who will demand you play fetch with her (ok she won't demand but it's hard to say no to her). The owners, Raymond and Charlene, invited me inside even though the shop technically wasn't open to the public yet; a really nice gesture I had thought. Once I got inside the shop I was amazed at their inventory; which has since grown exponentially since they officially opened the shop. They have products to cater to all skill levels and to those who have limited versus unlimited budgets. I eventually ended up purchasing a full set of dive equipment, and I feel like I got a great deal as they literally customized the equipment to me, fitted it appropriately and continually ensure it's in perfect working order. I honestly think I got the same price for the equipment that you would find on an online retailer but I also get the great customer service afterwards. Win/win!! Now as I've said the shop itself is beautiful, they have great products but what really really stands out about this place is their people and the experience that they're creating. This is not a "get in and get out" type of environment. This is a neighborhood dive shop that encourages everyone to stop in, drink coffee, hang out, get to know each other, and make friends. It's a perfect environment that encourages learning because they make you so comfortable right away, and they can back up what they say as Raymond and their other instructor, Ton, are top notch guys. When I stopped in the shop I had no intention of diving more than once a month, maybe. I thought diving was fun but I wouldn't say I had a passion for it. Since then I've definitely developed a passion for it because diving/training with Wonderlost is just an unreal experience. I have since completed several advanced certificates and am working towards my Divemaster, which will be a part time career for me in the future. Stop in and say hi to Raymond, Charlene, Ton, Todd, and don't forget Ripley. You won't be disappointed!
