Catch my drift is always an exhilarating experience. My first trip was back in 2015 with my Mom and I have been a few more times throughout the years. Most recently, we went on Father's Day and we had a blast. Each time I have been out with catch my drift boat - The staff take their time explaining the rout, the way to bait your hook and how to keep an eye on the reel in full detail. First mate is a complete jerk. I am a single mother, grew up on the water. Took my 12 year old daughter kayaking to Coconuts for lunch. We were ahead of the boat and using proper etiquette. "Catch My Drift" came through like a banshee, behind us. First mate yells, I NEED YOU TO MOVE NOW, in an angry disrespectful manner while throwing his hands up like a punk. All I responded to his demand was, "Please" as to teach him a lesson in life and my daughter to never expect that from anyone, especially a man. Being spoken to like that, especially with my daughter present and while I was the one with the right of way on the water, I refused to allow that for her or myself. I would never recommend nor utilize a day on the water with "catch my drift", do you catch my drift? I run and operate a business throughout the state of Florida, if any of my employees were to treat anyone with that disrespect,, customer or not, they would not be working for me. With the captain not utilizing proper etiquette on the water, I would be weary of jumping on that boat. Do better! read more

Had two buddies down from New York drop them off for the Saturday night trip I was unable to go but thought they would have a good time. Turned out to be a $100 boat ride. There was at least 40 people on the boat. They came back with a total of Less than 15 fish some of which were barely legal size. They said the weather was absolutely beautiful, but could not understand why the fishing turned out to be so terrible on top of that. The mates were looking for a 20% tip. Went last night for about the 3rd time. Captain Billy put us on the fish and me and my friends had a blast. I've gone charter fishing for the last 10 years and I can say from all the boats I've been on, Mate Mike was the most helpful and hardest working mate to make sure every pole was in the water and tended to everyone's needs. This review only applies to the night time fishing in which the boat anchors up. The problem is all the spots at the back of the boat are reserved. This is perhaps 10 spots. The difference between fishing the back and sides in an achored postion with chum is nigfht and day. I am a veteran nighttime reef fisherman. I had my own boat in fort lauderdale for 12 yrs and have fished this nightime trip with Catch My Drift twice, once with a reservation at the stern spot and once without. Dont bother going if you cant fish from the very back of the boat. Ask for the spot. Its the difference between catching 2 fish and 20 fish. Really. When I did have the stern spot I out fished all the brothers and caught the largest fish ; ) Drift fishing is an entirely different story, the baot drifts dide ways and the spots are all pretty equal. read more

They also know which fish are considered to be poisonous, have venomous spines or those that you just don't want to have get anywhere near to you. But better yet, is that they're sincerely motivated, in to what they are doing and sort of really get into the fun of your fishing adventure. Another good thing I've noticed is that unlike some other drift fishing boats, I've really never had to put up with anyone overindulging or getting drunk. Trust me on this point, I've experienced what it is like to be in close quarters aboard a boat with overindulging drunks, sharp hooks along with the resultant of them tossing their guts out and puking all over the place, which to say the least, doesn't paint a pretty picture. On the other hand, though I'm not much of a beer drinker, there is no way I can fish without beer so I'm not a teetotaler prude about the matter. I do like my drinking too plus the fact that they don't do cooler checks or have any of that you must buy aboard the boat crap. And, when your fishing is done, the crew cleans you catch at no additional cost though generous tips are of course most appreciated. read more

Even though I didn't land a fish aboard the vessel how ever I had several bites and my son was able to catch a nice colorful fish and was able to bring it up but it managed to flop off the hook before I was able to get a pic with him but it a type of fish that had to be thrown back cause of its purpose in life due to the corals and the reefs I had an amazing time with the crew and the captain they was all laid back and really helpful with a lot I will def go back to them if I ever have another opportunity in life the captain was awesome and he tried his best to put everyone on several schools of fish and the crew was very helpful and interactive with all the passengers on board read more

I caught a big kingfish and collectively we all caught at least five fish and a 300 lb monster (unknown species) we had to cut loose. The crew was funny and interested in us. Me and my wife booked a night fishing trip with catch my drift because our usual favorite charter didn't have another trip for the rest of the day. So I booked around 1pm our trip started at 730 we arrived early I do what any fisherman would do check his rigging and prepare to go fishing. I do my prepping get on the boat in the back where normally people with braided line are asked to go, then an apparent regular comes up and says I'm in his spot. So I had the look on my face like "Your spot?" So I proceed to ask the guy at the ticket booth about reserved spots. He said his regulars call and reserve spots for night fishing and since I booked online I dont have that option. My question is why don't you state that online? Why don't you tell people on your website that braided line is not allowed? I didn't see that until I checked the conformation email this morning. The whole crew catered to the regulars that "reserved" their spots in the back. They were the only ones to actually catch anything. Why because they had the chum bag at the stern so everything was eating in the back of the boat. The only thing that was being caught by the rest of us were grunts. One of the mates walked through and asked if we were catching anything we told him small fish his reply oh well they are catching snapper in the back of the boat Gee ya don't say. That wasn't the main problem the problem was once the fishing dried up for the regulars then and only then did they decide to move the boat. The point im trying to make is they cater to a few instead of us all. We moved 3 times there was no urgency to put all of us on decent fish. Only for the chosen ones. I will never ever fish with them again. I'll stick with the people in Hollywood atleast they try their absolute best to put you on fish. We moved atleast 6 times to get on the fish. Also cheaper isn't better. You get what you pay for. read more

This is my new favorite drift boat in Ft Lauderdale! The ride out to the fishing grounds takes about 45 minutes but it's such a beautiful ride. Today we left the dock at 8:35 and had fish in the cooler by 9:30. The conditions were perfect. I like to bring my own gear but they have everything for those on vacation who left their gear at home. Today we caught yellowtail and mangrove snapper, porgy, grouper, blue runner, and a coupe sand tile. A young man named Noah was fishing next to me landed a nice sized Bonita. So if you're a novice wait for a calm day. The newer deckhands need a little more training. When he collected the bait at the end he was splashing it all over us. Been on this trip twice with friends that were visiting. Both were the Saturday night snapper trips. Both times there were 30-40 people on board. First trip 1 snapper was caught all night and second trip 3 were caught. I spoke with another family that has been out a few times (also with out-of-state guests) and they said about the same, 1-3 snapper per night for the whole boat. It's not really a snapper trip. Grunts and squirrel fish were around but not in abundance. The ride out and ride in are nice and I never had any trouble with the staff.You can bring your own drinks/snacks. Out of state guests and kids seem to like it but anyone who fishes regularly or semi-regularly will not. read more

The boat runs several fishing trips through the course of the day and holds about 30-40 people. Now keep in mind this is a party boat for local fishing trips, so your mainly going to catch smaller to medium fish. Remember this is fishing not catching, so you might hit the mother load or might come home with blanks. This is not like a Mahi or Sailfish type of charter boat. Your mainly going to catch fish like: Mangrove and Mutton Snappers, Groupers, Porgy's, Grunts, Jacks and Kingfish. The crew is very helpful and knowledgable and the Captain gives you clear and precise instructions over the PA system. During your trip the skipper will take you to some of his fishing holes from 30 to 150FT of water. So technically you can catching anything out there but what I listed is what you can expect. The boat does have a cabin with air condition and tables for you to sit and eat and a top section for you to sight see. For $40 this is one of my go to boats for some off shore fishing and a great getaway for 4-5 hours. read more

Boat was nice and clean. Everything going good until I asked could I run to the store (7-Eleven) one of the deck hands said yeah run like a crack head. Smh we then started drifting and it was cool , but one spot for over an hour with zero bites? Smh they had a lot of tourist and they were happy to be on the boat. That's fine so we just waited a bit longer for captain to Move. The same deck hand has to be a Trump supporter because I'm darker skinned and dude got upset that I asked to move spots. Said I couldn't fish in front of the group then called me ghetto for asking to speak with him in private about the way he embarrassed me. The guy said no and if I touch him he will call FWC and have me arrested. I will not be going on this boat as long as I'm a law abiding black man. I felt provoked and degraded. If I would have reacted I wouldn't be able to write this because I would be in jail. I will not support people who don't respect me and understand how business works. Where to even begin.... just outstanding!!! A friend and I decided to skip our day trip to the Keys while visiting from Iowa to hop on board the Catch My Drift charter for a day fishing excursion. Our tour guides, Justin and Ryan were absolutely phenomenal!!!! As Ryan's 2nd day on board. his friendliness and professionalism shined as if he had been doing this for many years!!! This party boat bites and its not the fish. Don't believe the hype this company tries to project on facebook. The day before my friends and I went out on this boat they were proclaiming that Snapper were basically jumping in the boat at night. The boat had about 40 people on it and there was about 1 snapper caught and the rest were grunts. big surprise... you can catch grunts anywhere. The bait and poles they provide you is junk and you have to ask them repeatedly to restock your bait. There is some little kid that's a mate on the boat and he's over the top annoying. I have been on many party boats north and south and never experienced mates like this. They dont really care too much about finding fish. The captain will sit in one spot getting 0 action for an hour. Most likely to preserve gas money and rob you blind. Do yourself a favor and navigate yourself away from this vessel and buy yourself a nice dinner at a seafood restaurant because you wont have anything to eat when you step off this boat. My 15 year old son went on the morning trip on Memorial Day and he had a blast. There were some fish caught which was a good day. I had a great time! We went on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend which had a few children and women- more family- which I liked. The boat left on time (8:30am). The mates all walked around helping and answering questions. Fishing was peaceful and beautiful! Bring your own drinks because they don't sell them. I also brought sunglasses, a hat, sunblock, a cotton button down long sleeve breezy shirt incase I felt like I was getting sunburned(I wish I brought a rag to wipe my hands off with after baiting the hook), and some pretzels. What a great day!! I also tipped 20$- seems like the mates work like restaurant workers do- for tips. When we got back to the dock it was hot!!! Out on the water, I couldn't tell at all with the breeze, so i'm glad a had sunblock and water. I made my reservations online for time and date.
