TIP: Use your Yelp check-in for a $5 discount!!! Catch My Drift is an 85 foot boat, the larger of two drift fishing boats operated through Fishing Headquarters (http://www.yelp.com/biz/fishing-headquarters-fort-lauderdale) with home port dock located at 301 Seabreeze Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Along with their other drift fishing boat, Mary B III (http://www.yelp.com/biz/mary-b-iii-fort-lauderdale), it has daily 7 day week schedule of 4 hour, $40 for adults, $30 for children plus a Saturday Night 7:30 PM to 1:30 AM $50 for Adults, $40 for Kids, night anchor fishing trip. Which boat you get on daily day trips usually depends upon the size of the fishing group, however Catch My Drift is generally used for the Saturday Night anchor fishing. I've been aboard both Mary B III and Catch My Drift and would recommend, if you have any choice, to go aboard Catch My Drift as it is the larger, more roomy of the two and, accordingly, handles the seas significantly better with a lot less bobbing around. The crews aboard the boats generally interchange and are among the most helpful, considerate, and knowledgeable of any drift boat crews I've ever had the pleasure to meet. They also know which fish are considered to be poisonous, have venomous spines or those that you just don't want to have get anywhere near to you. But better yet, is that they're sincerely motivated, in to what they are doing and sort of really get into the fun of your fishing adventure. Another good thing I've noticed is that unlike some other drift fishing boats, I've really never had to put up with anyone overindulging or getting drunk. Trust me on this point, I've experienced what it is like to be in close quarters aboard a boat with overindulging drunks, sharp hooks along with the resultant of them tossing their guts out and puking all over the place, which to say the least, doesn't paint a pretty picture. On the other hand, though I'm not much of a beer drinker, there is no way I can fish without beer so I'm not a teetotaler prude about the matter. I do like my drinking too plus the fact that they don't do cooler checks or have any of that you must buy aboard the boat crap. And, when your fishing is done, the crew cleans you catch at no additional cost though generous tips are of course most appreciated.

Even though I didn't land a fish aboard the vessel how ever I had several bites and my son was able to catch a nice colorful fish and was able to bring it up but it managed to flop off the hook before I was able to get a pic with him but it a type of fish that had to be thrown back cause of its purpose in life due to the corals and the reefs I had an amazing time with the crew and the captain they was all laid back and really helpful with a lot I will def go back to them if I ever have another opportunity in life the captain was awesome and he tried his best to put everyone on several schools of fish and the crew was very helpful and interactive with all the passengers on board

Very affordable fishing charter compared to others in area. The boat is big and can accommodate large groups. The crew provides all the equipment you need including bait. Jeff and Nick were great deckhands and very helpful. Everybody caught a fish or more. Fun times!!!

My buddy and I hired a semi private charter with these guys for a half day trip for around $100 each. It was us and 3 other people. I caught a big kingfish and collectively we all caught at least five fish and a 300 lb monster (unknown species) we had to cut loose. The crew was funny and interested in us. They also shared a cooler of beers with us. I'll be going back with more friends. Great experience all around.

Taking friends from out of town fishing to make memories. The crew was very friendly. We all had fun but.....it was 2 foot seas, a majority of the boat was seasick. So if you're a novice wait for a calm day. The newer deckhands need a little more training. When he collected the bait at the end he was splashing it all over us. Other than that I would recommend it.

Absolutely awesome experience and the highlight of our drive down the coast. My husband read the…read morereviews online and booked us for a morning run out. We arrived around 7:30-7:45am and were on the water by 8am. We spent about 2 1/2 hours rolling to some of the spots they knew well. A couple of kingfish and a few others (don't ask me I'm just there to catch them all). The entire morning was relaxing, fun and filled with great conversation. The Captain Jeff pulled out the kite and I have to say this has been on my bucket list for a long time. I've always wanted to see it done live and in person. What an amazing experience. I was able to catch a couple of great fish as they put the kite out. But unfortunately for us we had to pull it back in about 20 minutes in due to a storm rolling in super fast. I plan on doing this again though I would love a catch and release for a sailfish. Dave was amazing and kept us going non stop and gave us breaks when needed. He was just awesome and fun to chat with. My husband was a good sport (seeing as my fish were bigger and better eating than his) and that made the trip for me! :) 4 hours was awesome but next time I'll try to book a couple of days maybe a morning and then a different afternoon. So much fun!! I can't wait to come back. The awesome thing is the guys recommended we filet one of the fish up to take up the dock to a restaurant that would cook it right up for us. So that is exactly what we did...you can't get any fresher than that...what an awesome recommendation!

It was a good trip even if the catch was minimal. Captain…read moreJeff took time to teach us different fishing techniques. Hoping for better weather and better luck.

The best part is all the gear and equipment and bait is included for all paying guests. There's several trip options to choose from. Early morning, during the days and their late night trip. We have done all, and I prefer the late nights. The water is calmer, it's not as hot, and it's pretty relaxing if you ask me. The business operates daily, weather permitting. The boats are pretty big, they seem to be able to hold about 30 persons on the fishing level. There's an upper deck for a smaller fee, for people who do not want to fish, but go along for the ride. You're welcome to keep whatever you catch, depending the size of course. Once we cough a nurse shark, we were not able to keep it, but it sure had eveyone taking onboard! You're also allowed to bring your meals and drinks on board. It's definitely a party if you make friends with your neighbors and enjoy the tour. I'll definitely continue using this company for years to come.

The boat trip begins in the scenic intracoastal passing by stunning mansions until hitting the ocean by Port Everglades. As a novice myself, the crew is informative and helpful in teaching how to use the rod, fixing issues such as lines being tangled or snapped hooks, and identifying the fish. Cool learning experience too. They showed us a sucker fish as it strapped to the boat walls before setting her free. We went on a Friday at 7:30pm. The boat wasn't too packed and we claimed the front. Between 3 of us, we took home 4 fish. We caught a bunch more that were tossed back in the water -- baby sharks, and many fish that weren't of proper size. Great adventure even if you don't catch any fish. A very peaceful view of the skyline looking east and we caught moonrise to the west. Nice ocean breeze! After returning, they scaled and gutted the fishies for some fun cooking ahead.

They used all different methods of fishing, some of which we never even heard of! So that was very interesting! When we first got there, there was a guy on the boat and we were trying to figure out which boat we were on. My son pointed out that the the guy was "definitely less than thrilled to see us." Then once we figured out which boat we were on and got on, he was SUPER nice. Fast forward 8 hours (we had an 8 hour charter). I gave both the captain and mate what I thought was a very generous tip. Well the Mate was VERY vocal about his total displeasure in the amount of the tip. Keep in mind I just spent $1,675 on the trip, $1,850 to have my Son's shark mounted, $350+ for a hotel, so my budget was stretched pretty thin, but I still managed to give them a great tip. But unfortunately it very clearly wasn't nearly enough. Thank you Marlin My Darlin, but we'll definitely do some research and look for a different charter company next time.

My boyfriend, myself and his son had great expectations but we know fish have a mind of their own and you can't make them bite but when this happens, you want to make sure your clients are having fun, as well. We had JB as a captain and Landon, a 16 year old kid who was told by JB what to do. We felt that there should have been someone else to assist because Landon was working fairly hard and when we tried asking questions about what we were fishing for and how, we received very short answers. He didn't have very good people skills (rare in a 16 year old). Needless to say, there was plenty of time to talk because we had maybe 5 bites total the whole 6 hour trip. It started when we were told we were going to stop at the next dock and get bait. Then, when we found out we were responsible for buying the bait ( it wasn't included) and that they needed our credit card or cash to get the bait when Landon had to jump off at the dock, pissed us off a little bit. JB seemed a little crazy from the start when he came into the cabin and told us what the customary percentage tip was and then proceeded to tell us how much 20% of our fee actually was. But this was confirmed once we started fishing (can you call it fishing if you don't even touch the rod the whole 6 hours on board) we knew he was nuts because we started kite fishing and he kept barking orders at Landon from up above. Our group sat and "watched" Landon fish the entire time. At one point, we kept telling him that we thought there was a bite on one of the poles but he couldn't hear us because he had his AirPods in his ears. So, after about hour three, having no bites, JB decides it's time to move the boat and try deeper waters. Fine, we're good with that but no fish there either. Ok, that's just fishing. Until a storm starts blowing in and he tries for almost 45 minutes, driving the boat in circles, trying to get his kite back in the boat and flooring the gas until we are "gassed" out down in the cabin area. No one tells you what is going on and they are very vague about what fish you are going after. Also, we were never offered bottles of water, even though it said they were included. Luckily, we brought our own drinks and snacks to pass the time watching these two clowns look like they knew what they were doing. Kite fishing seemed pretty cool if you want to just watch but we specifically told them we would like to bottom fish. When there was an hour left and we hadn't caught anything, JB offered to have us go and try to catch smaller fish but Landon told us we should stick with what we had been doing all along (we think it was because he didn't want to switch all the poles up). Ultimately, we were resigned that we weren't going to catch fish (that's just fishing) but all of the other things that could have been handled more professionally and were not, really made us question if we ever want to take a chance again on charter fishing!
