Took a jet ski excursion through the Intracoastal Waterway with 3 friends and honestly had an amazing time. Riding out to Whiskey Creek Hideout was such a cool experience -- the scenery along the way was beautiful and the whole vibe felt laid back and fun. We pulled up along the shore around magic hour and just hung out watching the sunset colors roll in. Definitely one of those South Florida moments that feels hard to beat.

So glad we stumbled upon this place while we were exploring FLL and the State Park. We rented a double kayak on a deal day and had an amazing time! Saw tons of wildlife, cool vegetation, and nice views. Lots of planes were flying overhead, which interrupted the peaceful nature aspect but was sorta fun to watch right above us. The staff guy was nice and not pushy. It's a bit hidden and tricky to find. The signs were confusing until we asked a park ranger for directions but totally worth a visit! They had snacks, food, beverages, merch and lots of seating if you wanted to hang out too!

Beautiful day at whiskey creek. Thanks to Dan for setting us up last weekend

Great staff and great atmosphere! Best spot for kayaking. Dan behind the pay booth is always so helpful with everything!

We came to paddle board the intracoastal and we were not disappointed! Super easy to rent the paddle boards from the shop and we got an hour out on the water. Most of the water was too shallow for boats so it was pretty easy to navigate without boaters. They also offer kayaks and canoes to rent! After we finished with our paddle boards we headed back up to the actual Whiskey Creek Hideout for drinks and a snack. We split the coconut shrimp and each had a daiquiri. We had the rum runner and piña colada. I enjoyed the rum runner more as the piña colada was too sweet for me. After our break we headed over to the picnic tables for beach access. We absolutely loved the beach! Clear water, not much seaweed, soft sand, and easy to find a spot to tan. Perfect really! Also it was $6 to park at the state park to get access to Whiskey Creek Hideout. Plenty of parking though!

This place is great to rent kayaks and paddleboards in the Hollywood Beach area. Located inside Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park, be aware that you do have to pay to get in ($6 for two of us). However once you're in, you don't have to pay for parking, which makes the $6 a steal for a full day at the beach!!! Once you're in, follow the signs to the back of the park where there will be a large open parking lot on your right and signs for Whiskey Creek. My husband and I each rented a single kayak, but they have double kayaks if someone in your party isn't comfortable on their own. It was $40 each for 2 hours. The waterway is so calm and safe. There are only boats near the rental place where they all pull up to the beach to relax. Other than that, you are alone on the water except for other paddlers. I recommend taking at least one of the fun tight paths through the mangroves if you're into adventure like me! Whiskey Creek Hideout also offers food, drink, merchandise, and beach essentials such as sunscreen and toys. The food is nothing to write home about, but really hits the spot after 2 hours of kayaking! We were hungry, so we ordered the fish and chips, mahi sandwich, and a pitcher of beer. There is no table service, so make sure to check the front counter after 10 minutes for your order. Also, everything automatically comes in a to go container in case you want to bring your food back to your boat or down to the beach. Whiskey Creek Hideout is a fun afternoon for locals and tourists alike!

Whiskey Creek Hideout is a great spot to go kayaking. I was there this afternoon as they were setting up for a wedding. The restaurant is very simple yet super relaxing. The menu is short. Mostly chicken wings, chicken tenders, hamburgers and salad. They have plenty of beverage choices including half a dozen beers on tap. I had a Nutrl, vodka seltzer with watermellon juice. I will be buying those again for sure. This has to be the fifth or sixth time that I've stopped here with friends and c it never ceases to amaze me the fun that can be had! The beach is right out back. They Emden have a fire pit with chairs for special events. This is part of the state parks. The only area on the beach where alcohol is allowed is at Whiskey Creek. There is free wifi, which helps!

Came to do kayaking and it was such a blast. The staff was very nice and informative on where to go and etc. as you kayak along you can stop off if you want and we did its so nice. It was so beautiful. Saw lots of fish in the water. And it was a good deal. I will for sure be back to try the bike rentals and the kayaking again.

This is my secret spot to take out of towners. $55 for two hour tandem kayak rental. Pack yourself a little cooler and be on your way. There's a touch of small boat traffic you have to navigate in the beginning, but after that it's lovely serenity on the water.

One of my absolute favorite spots for kayaking. You can book all day ahead of time online, or pay by the hour once you get there. Single kayaks are $25 per hour. What I love most about Whiskey Creek is I've never gone and not been able to get a kayak. I've never had to wait, they always have a good amount in stock. The launch is also right next to their own little restaurant where you can get food, drinks and play giant connect four! They have single kayaks, double kayaks, canoes and paddleboards. Entrance fee to the park is $6 and you can even bring your own kayaks/paddleboards. The waters are super easy to navigate, there are plenty of spots to kayak up to some sand and rest or have lunch on the water. Staff are always incredibly friendly and willing to help. I've seen more wildlife in other spots, but you'll definitely see some birds and iguanas here. Certainly check it out it is my all-time favorite place to kayak!

Cool place to check out. Maybe July isn't the best time due to the heat. It was low tide and some places weren't accessible. Other than that it was cool. Going on Groupon you can save a few extra bucks on the different boat rentals. During weekdays there's so much parking. Plenty of birds and sea life to watch.

I visited Whiskey Creek Hideout in Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park (Formerly John U Lloyd State Park) today. I've kayaked many times before but this was my first time with this company. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They were accommodating, funny, and informative. They got us signed in and ready to go minutes after our arrival. The water level was a little low and shallow in places today but the route was still nice. There are small beaches you can pull up to and dock should you need a rest or simply want to take pictures. It's a great change of pace and I definitely plan to come back soon. I'm also keeping my ears open for the next full moon kayak tour! Once you enter the park, head down to Lot 2 for parking. Whiskey Creek is only a short walk from there. Just follow the signs. They are open for business daily from 9am to 5pm. Highly recommend!!

What a great day tandem kayak w/ wife great frozen mock daiquiri, but we over did it & not only got a brain freeze but a chest freeze (painful) The French Fries for some odd reason are excellent. We kayak all the way to the shipping lane, scary but exciting, because the water currents get turbulent. Then went on the beach near the Dania pier. What a fun, exciting day can be found at this oasis in your own backyard. Highly Recommend, we are going back to paddle board & explore more trails.

What a find. This is situated in the park. It is a casual restaurant that is situated right next to the coastal inlet and also very near the beaches here. You can enjoy watching the boaters and also people kayaking. They also have a station whereby you can try your hand at kayaking, by renting one. A beautiful un spoilt area to discover. Go yourself and enjoy!

Edit, May 7, 2026 - After responding to a text from the resort for a review of our stay, and having…read morevoiced my concerns as I stated below, I was contacted once again by the resort and advised they would be refunding me for the beach gear charges I had complained about below. Not every resort, in fact few if any, would do this. This, to me, speaks volumes of the resort's management, and their willingness to address concerns. I had moved on, but I was surprised, and very pleased and grateful that they followed through on this. ----------- Sorry for the long review post, but if you're planning on staying here, I urge you to read until the end. My wife and I are local to the Ft Lauderdale area, and wanting to spend a couple of days at a resort by the beach, we were drawn to Lago Mar. The prices seemed reasonable, having free parking and no resort fee, so on the surface, it was already a cut above any worthwhile resort you'll find along the Southeast Fl coast. It's not until you check in that you discover that they do not allow personal beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, drinks, nor food in the common areas, pool, and beach. Naturally, if you want protection from the sun, you'll need to opt to rent the umbrella and chairs, which will run you $32, and $10-15 each for the chairs. You will also be socked with a 20% "service charge". Total $66. So much for no resort fee! Now, our stay was marred by poor weather. On the full day we were going to be there, the weather appeared to be clearing, and even the weather service said as much. So, forgetting about the food/drinks/cooler part, which didn't matter much to me, I opted to rent the umbrella and chairs, despite having brought our own. But after one hour of use, we had to abandon the beach due to the relentless rain! Now, I know and understand that the resort cannot, and should not, be responsible for the weather turning bad, but I decided to call the front desk to see if they could make an accommodation in this case. I was told that the beach equipment is handled by a 3rd party, and I could try and talk to them. So down I went, only to discover they had left early for the day. So, I contacted the front desk again, only to be, what felt like, chided for trying to see if the resort could make another accommodation, like a food credit for breakfast credit, or something. Nothing of the sort. It seemed like I got my hand slapped!!! Now, to be fair, the resort as a whole, including our room, was clean, spotless, and comfortable. The staff is more than friendly. Based on these elements alone, their high rating is warranted. But there are other things, that unfortunately, are not discoverable until you actually stay there. For this reason, I'm rating them a 3/5, and will likely not be staying there again.

I'll start by saying this has been my favorite place for the last ten years. I loved the low key…read morevibe that really allowed families to enjoy themselves. It didn't have a cookie cutter Marriott vibe, with ridiculous rules. That was until our last visit. Apparently they have a new pool/beach management company. This has increased beach rental fees which wasn't our issue. While it's pretty crappy to offer beach front property without offering beach chairs, that is common among other hotels. This wasn't the old Lago Mar but they've joined the ranks of other hotels and ruined their vibe. The main issues started when we left our tubes at our chairs and came back to three of them gone. I looked around and noticed a staff member deflate and throw a different tube (not ours) away. When I asked where ours were they pretended to not know about it. They found one but not the other two until I asked them to empty the trash can full of tubes. Ours were in there, with ten others they had popped intentionally and threw away. They said we had been warned, which wasn't the case. They lied about doing it and told me to talk to the front desk if I was unhappy. The front desk reassured us that the pool manager would make it right. It was three days of bs with the manager of this company (which they now outsource) who refused to make it right. They offered a complimentary beach chair. All I wanted was a $50 credit to cover the cost of the three inflatables. The hotel manager got involved and credited the value of the tubes but this was after three days of drama. They apologized profusely, but when you outsource key staff, you're responsible for their actions. According to the new pool company, pool floats and tubes are not allowed and this is strictly, albeit inconsistently enforced. We used tubes for the first three days and never heard a single thing. While ours were destroyed, there were literally three women floating in tubes in the pool. While the hotel says this has been their policy forever, and it is noted on a sign, this has never been enforced. Up until recently, their own gift shop sold floats, even when the sign said it wasn't allowed. They also even blew them up for you at the hut. Now I'd be fine if they said they weren't allowed and were enforcing it. But to never say the tubes are an issue, wait until we walk away, take them, pop them and then lie about it is absurd. It ruined the vibe of the trip. What is the point of a family pool if families can't float in a tube and chill out? There is an adults only pool that can easily be a tube free environment. Furthermore, as a guest, if I had taken anyones property, damaged it, threw it away and lied about it, I'd be held accountable. It's a real shame because we love everything else about this resort. The bar staff, Kelly, Chuck and Mitch are amazing. I can't say enough about how wonderful they are. The cleaning crew works their butts off, the hotel staff have always been accommodating. I can't say that we'll return as a family as long as this pool company is outsourced. I noted quite a few recent reviews that said things had changed and wished it wasn't true. But it was. This place held nothing but amazing family memories for us until this time. I hope changes are made and it returns to the low key resort we all loved.

I came across the banquet hall after a google search when I decided to transition from my original idea. I emailed and was able to see the venue the same day. I instantly fell in love! It had the intimate feel that I was looking for. We had to put down $1000 and set up a monthly pay payment plan with the final payment due about 3 weeks before the party. A cash deposit of $500 must be turned in by 48 hours before the party for incidentals but as long as you don't mess up anything, you will get your money back. All of the logistics are detailed in the contract that you must sign to eliminate any confusion or misunderstandings. From start to finish, Kat and I developed the perfect party for my mom. I chose this location because it was ideal since the majority of my family and friends live 15-20 minutes away. In addition, I chose to have my wedding here because this location can accommodate both a wedding ceremony as well as the reception. My wedding coordinator, Kat, was a pleasure to work with and she will try to accommodate your wants and needs. The menu options that were offered were okay. I did not like that we were not able to taste test the food that was paid for and as a result, I was very disappointed in the food that was served at my wedding (embarrassed actually). There is not an option to bring your own food. You are allowed to add food to the menu for an additional fee of $75 per pan. Although you are allowed to provide your own alcohol, you must pay a fee of $150 to do so with the limitation of 10 bottles. I had a total of $85 guests. We spent many months preparing for the design of the reception area. A few days before the wedding, I was notified by Kat that their "design team" did not approve of my design and there were changes made that I did not authorize. In the many months we spent planning, I had never met this "design team". The designs that are offered by the venue are basic, and any additional designs you want to add need to be "approved" by this "design team". I spent hundreds of dollars of my own money to provide additional decorations so that the reception area did not look plain. I booked the limo with La Vie En Rose. On the day of my wedding, I was to be picked up at 4:45pm and dropped off at 5:00pm. Unfortunately, the limo company that they work with had some last-minute changes and a staff member of the banquet hall had to pick me up. I did not get to the wedding until 5:30 which was a problem because they charge $75 for every 15 minutes pass 10:00pm (the end of the reception). With me arriving 30 minutes late, my entire wedding was pushed back, and the whole wedding was rushed. I was upset that I was being rushed since the venue was late picking me up. No one ever offered to give me an additional 30 minutes toward my wedding, even though they were late picking me up. A cash deposit of $500 must be paid 48-hours before the wedding, it will be refunded, if there are no damages made. You must also completely vacate the reception area at 10:00pm sharp. Funnily enough, the Dj will play songs that will get the guests dancing at this time. I had to personally go to the Dj booth at 9:50pm so that he could stop the music because I did not want to be charged an additional $75. One of the groomsmen threw up in the bathroom, and my father cleaned it up. They still charged $75 although we had cleaned up the mess. Last but not least, there was an altercation (nearly a physical fight) between my sister-bridesmaid and their bartending staff. Although I provided and paid for the alcohol to be served, the rude bartender (staffed by the venue) refused to service my sister-bridesmaid. My guests had to break up the altercation that was caused by their bartender. Their bartending staff was also hustling my guests for money, and my guests were coming up to me asking me: "why is hustling me for money". I was very embarrassed, and in the end the bartender was removed, but the damage had already been done. Overall, I would give La vie En Rose a 6/10. The waffle strips tasted store-bought (and came with syrup in a little jam container), and the mac & cheese was an afterthought. Again, probably Kraft. Luckily, once you drink enough mimosas, nothing else matters. So yeah, that's where the DJ saves the day. They also had endless margaritas, but them joints tasted TART. Those little cheesecake squares were pretty good. Otherwise, I don't think I'd come back for this brunch.

It was the most perfect wedding we could have hoped for. The boat itself was stunning, every guest commented on how beautiful and unique the venue was as we cruised along the water. It was extra special because my parents used Sundream for their wedding 34 years ago, on the Lady Mary (since retired yacht). The staff and crew were exceptional from start to finish. Zach and Coco were absolute standouts. Zach's competency and attention to detail blew us away. His communication with all our vendors was seamless, and he made sure every single element was in place without us ever having to worry. Coco was incredibly sweet and so helpful, she even made sure the men got their boutonnieres on quickly before the ceremony, all while bringing such warmth and personality to the day. The bartenders were fantastic, the food was delicious, and everything flowed so smoothly. We felt completely taken care of, and our guests were enjoying themselves all night. SunDream Yachts helped create the most beautiful, memorable wedding day, and we couldn't recommend them more highly. Special thanks to Wendy and the crew!

Btw the food was beyond delicious! I wouldn't hesitate to charter this yacht again!!
