Hidden gem alert Whiskey Creek Hideout has quickly become one of my favorite places to bring my son. It's such a beautiful little escape and the perfect spot for a family day out. For only $6 per car, you can enjoy the creek, walk over to the beach, rent kayaks/paddleboards, grab food, drinks, and the most addicting slushies! I was definitely nervous the first time coming here alone with my son, but now I feel like a regular and it's become one of those places I genuinely love making memories at. The area is clean, relaxing, and the sweetest lady running the food stand makes the experience even better. I truly enjoyed a midweek kayaking without crowds and noisy kids scaring away the wildlife... Everything was smooth from the time I arrived 7am to going out and coming back without issue Had lunch about 1/2 mile down at Capone's if that's what it's still called and truly relaxed my day way ... The have protocols in place for safety and if your feeling they move to slow ... no they don't there are proper ways of getting things done.... If you're on a time crunch then kayaking is not it, go for a trail walk or sit at the beach or bike ride but don't kayak, that's the waters way of telling you to slow down. Great place to kayak and/or stand-up paddleboard! $4 to get into the park for the day. Plenty of parking available, especially if you come early, and even on a Saturday. Each time I've gone, the water is nice and calm. The last time I went, I saw 5 turtles and 1 small shark! Very cool! Will definitely come again to paddleboard! read more

So glad we stumbled upon this place while we were exploring FLL and the State Park. We rented a double kayak on a deal day and had an amazing time! Saw tons of wildlife, cool vegetation, and nice views. Lots of planes were flying overhead, which interrupted the peaceful nature aspect but was sorta fun to watch right above us. The staff guy was nice and not pushy. It's a bit hidden and tricky to find. The signs were confusing until we asked a park ranger for directions but totally worth a visit! Really nice beach. Lots of picnic tables and BBQ's, but even so, better get there early to make sure you claim your space. Everything kept clean. The beach is nice. On the opposite side of the beach is the creek and they have a nice little food stand and an area where you can rent paddle boards or kayaks if you didn't bring your own. We came to paddle board the intracoastal and we were not disappointed! Super easy to rent the paddle boards from the shop and we got an hour out on the water. Most of the water was too shallow for boats so it was pretty easy to navigate without boaters. They also offer kayaks and canoes to rent! After we finished with our paddle boards we headed back up to the actual Whiskey Creek Hideout for drinks and a snack. We split the coconut shrimp and each had a daiquiri. We had the rum runner and piña colada. I enjoyed the rum runner more as the piña colada was too sweet for me. After our break we headed over to the picnic tables for beach access. We absolutely loved the beach! Clear water, not much seaweed, soft sand, and easy to find a spot to tan. Perfect really! This place is great to rent kayaks and paddleboards in the Hollywood Beach area. Located inside Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park, be aware that you do have to pay to get in ($6 for two of us). However once you're in, you don't have to pay for parking, which makes the $6 a steal for a full day at the beach!!! Once you're in, follow the signs to the back of the park where there will be a large open parking lot on your right and signs for Whiskey Creek. My husband and I each rented a single kayak, but they have double kayaks if someone in your party isn't comfortable on their own. It was $40 each for 2 hours. The waterway is so calm and safe. There are only boats near the rental place where they all pull up to the beach to relax. Other than that, you are alone on the water except for other paddlers. I recommend taking at least one of the fun tight paths through the mangroves if you're into adventure like me! Whiskey Creek Hideout also offers food, drink, merchandise, and beach essentials such as sunscreen and toys. The food is nothing to write home about, but really hits the spot after 2 hours of kayaking! We were hungry, so we ordered the fish and chips, mahi sandwich, and a pitcher of beer. There is no table service, so make sure to check the front counter after 10 minutes for your order. Also, everything automatically comes in a to go container in case you want to bring your food back to your boat or down to the beach. Whiskey Creek Hideout is a great spot to go kayaking. I was there this afternoon as they were setting up for a wedding. The restaurant is very simple yet super relaxing. The menu is short. Mostly chicken wings, chicken tenders, hamburgers and salad. They have plenty of beverage choices including half a dozen beers on tap. I had a Nutrl, vodka seltzer with watermellon juice. I will be buying those again for sure. This has to be the fifth or sixth time that I've stopped here with friends and c it never ceases to amaze me the fun that can be had! The beach is right out back. They Emden have a fire pit with chairs for special events. This is part of the state parks. The only area on the beach where alcohol is allowed is at Whiskey Creek. Came to do kayaking and it was such a blast. The staff was very nice and informative on where to go and etc. as you kayak along you can stop off if you want and we did its so nice. This is my secret spot to take out of towners. $55 for two hour tandem kayak rental. Pack yourself a little cooler and be on your way. There's a touch of small boat traffic you have to navigate in the beginning, but after that it's lovely serenity on the water. read more

One of my absolute favorite spots for kayaking. You can book all day ahead of time online, or pay by the hour once you get there. Single kayaks are $25 per hour. What I love most about Whiskey Creek is I've never gone and not been able to get a kayak. I've never had to wait, they always have a good amount in stock. The launch is also right next to their own little restaurant where you can get food, drinks and play giant connect four! They have single kayaks, double kayaks, canoes and paddleboards. Entrance fee to the park is $6 and you can even bring your own kayaks/paddleboards. The waters are super easy to navigate, there are plenty of spots to kayak up to some sand and rest or have lunch on the water. Staff are always incredibly friendly and willing to help. I've seen more wildlife in other spots, but you'll definitely see some birds and iguanas here. Certainly check it out it is my all-time favorite place to kayak! read more

Cool place to check out. Maybe July isn't the best time due to the heat. It was low tide and some places weren't accessible. Other than that it was cool. Going on Groupon you can save a few extra bucks on the different boat rentals. During weekdays there's so much parking. Plenty of birds and sea life to watch. read more

I visited Whiskey Creek Hideout in Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park (Formerly John U Lloyd State Park) today. I've kayaked many times before but this was my first time with this company. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They were accommodating, funny, and informative. They got us signed in and ready to go minutes after our arrival. The water level was a little low and shallow in places today but the route was still nice. There are small beaches you can pull up to and dock should you need a rest or simply want to take pictures. It's a great change of pace and I definitely plan to come back soon. I'm also keeping my ears open for the next full moon kayak tour! Once you enter the park, head down to Lot 2 for parking. Whiskey Creek is only a short walk from there. Just follow the signs. They are open for business daily from 9am to 5pm. Highly recommend!! read more

What a great day tandem kayak w/ wife great frozen mock daiquiri, but we over did it & not only got a brain freeze but a chest freeze (painful) The French Fries for some odd reason are excellent. We kayak all the way to the shipping lane, scary but exciting, because the water currents get turbulent. Then went on the beach near the Dania pier. What a fun, exciting day can be found at this oasis in your own backyard. Highly Recommend, we are going back to paddle board & explore more trails. read more

Whiskey Creek Hideout memories I cherish are of the mangrove-lined waterway. It's a scenic place to canoe, there's bike trails, great place to bird watch and naturally you must take photographs. At Whiskey Creek Hideout you can try all kinds of water sport activities including stand-up paddle boards and kayaks. When I was a frequent visitor during my many years living in Broward County I liked the secluded beaches. Naturally the early years I was growing up nearby it was much more secluded and enjoyable to a younger crowd. Like everything else the word gets out and the moneymaker businesses step in. I still recommend you visit this historic area of Broward County. Until Covid I still had a friend (since 1970 we were friends) that was born and raised, and still lived in Dania. I came for the beach batch and had a fantastic time. They have a good clean set up here. It's a casual event. It's near the beach. I see people with folding chairs and blankets. It's an all age welcome event. They have a live band playing music and in between breaks good music playing too. They also have a section for dancing. The band was playing jamaican and island like music. They had an are for drinks and a restaurant too.the menue is small but good. I had there chicken tenders. I liked them. There is a lot of places to sit here. You can bring your chairs or use the picnic tables all around the park. They had games like volleyball and a tossing game. They also had a nice fire pit going right in front of the dance floor. I told this event happens every month after 5pm. Its $6 to get inside the park then drive for two miles slowly and look for the signs on your right side. read more

It's very hidden but there are plenty of signs to make sure you're going the right way. Super casual, lots of beach goers and people who took their boats there, you order at a counter and get a pager for when it's ready. I was pleasantly surprised by the food, though their kitchen was under construction so they had an extremely limited menu when I went. We also had an issue with our order where they charged us wrong for some things, after we realized they were super nice and made up for it. I've worked in the service industry for a while and I understand rules are rules but the older white guy working at the rental shack was awful. Arrived at 3:59 for a 4:00 clock rental and said " oops it's just turned 4:00 I can't rent you anything now " with a smirk on his face. There's a way to handle things and this was not it. In order to get to the concession stand and restaurant you must first pay at $6 per vehicle entry fee into the park. The Whiskey Hideout in the name references when this area was a popular hideout for rum runners during prohibition. At the park there is a two mile saltwater creek called Whiskey Creek that flows between the beach and the mangroves. It was too shallow for the Coast Guard to get in so it was the perfect place for people to hide when they were smuggling in alcohol from the Bahamas. Today that same stretch is enjoyed by people who rent paddle boards and kayaks at the concession stand. In addition to water sports they also operate a casual waterfront restaurant with dock space if you would like to arrive by boat. You can also rent a beach chair here. They will even help you plan a wedding. You can book different adventures with them online like eco tours and sunset paddles. This is a great place to rent a kayak or a baffle posts and just have fun! It's nice and quiet and you can chill and hang out at all kinds of mini beaches along the way. The wild life is stunning too! We saw different fish, stingrays, iguanas, crabbies and more! It was our first time in a paddle board and it was super easy with the one from the rental. My husband had a tandem kayak with his friend and they had a blast as well. A hidden spot that most don't know about. That's my kind of place. The locals have slowly started to hear about Whiskey Creek. Yelp had an event there a couple years ago that helped get the word out I'm sure. I have been a couple times in the past month. It's a couple dollars to enter as its in a state park. They have a military discount and if you are a resident you can get a discounted pass. It's great rollin on in as its not as known as some places so we got walk up reservations. No one was there last weekend at 8AM. its a pleasant route. Generally people head south in what is a secondary intercoastal area. There are some boats and some other canoes but very few total. we enjoyed a peaceful couple hours and got a great work out in to boot. When we got back we turned in the kayaks and grabbed a beer too. They have a few different options, beer and other things. Not to mention food. We grabbed a couple cold ones and walked a ways from the complex and enjoyed the beach vibe. It's a great spot. Not that easy to find, but once you do you will be happy you took the time! read more

This is basically a shack a long walk from the parking lot that I wanted to like a lot more than I did. The beer selection was pretty small and the tables on the porch were all really dirty. Especially in these times, wiping them down would go a long way. Don't be surprised when you have to pay just to enter the park too. For us, this is the top spot for paddle boarding in the area, but it is also great for beaching a boat, kayaking, picnicking, or spending the day at the beach. Whiskey Creek is at the end of the state park, so you have to pay entry. That being said, parking is free once inside, so it kinda cancels itself out. There are lots of options within the park, but since whiskey creek sits on a lagoon with access to kayaks, paddle boards, a little restaurant, charcoal grills, the beach, and even a nearby boat launch, it really has something for everyone. The nice thing about paddling in the whiskey creek area is that it is always calm. The ocean is on one side, the inter-coastal is on the other, and it is surrounded by a sand berm and a mangrove forest. Within the mangroves, there are paddling trails carved out so you can get even deeper into nature and have a better adventure. Throw a cooler on your board, and off you go for hours. If you do not own a board, have no fear. You can rent kayaks and paddle boards here. I am not sure the rates, but many people do it. On the weekends, people bring their boats or jet-skis in from the inter-coastal and beach them, hanging out all day long instead of going down to the sand bar. There can be a lot of traffic on peak times, but since everyone is idling, they do not cause an issue for the paddlers. On the other side of the berm is the Atlantic, so if some of your group wants to beach it and some want to chill in calmer waters, this is the best place for it. Add in the bathrooms, food, board rentals, drinks, and grills, and it really is the best place to spend a beachy afternoon. You can even go a little south and there is a man-made reef to beach dive on! read more

I am completely confused about the reviews on this place...they definitely have a great location and nice staff but the food was nothing special. The menu is very simple and pricey. They offer very limited seafood dishes and most of the items are fried food. I ordered the chicken sandwich since is one of the two items non fried on the menu and it was the saddest chicken sandwich I ever seen for $10, definitely not worth it. I think there was 3oz of chicken inside the cold bun and the special yogurt sauce advertised on their menu it is just plain yogurt. By the way, they forgot to put it any sauce on my sandwich so I had to ask for it and they gave a tablespoon of plain yogurt. Nothing special about that... The sandwich came with french fries but that did not help me since I was staying away from fried foods. One good item was the draft beer. They offer a special beer made for them by Budweiser called BG Brew. This beer was a bit dark but very tasty. It was also a good price at $2.80 a glass. I will get the beer again and just enjoy the park. I give it 2 stars for the tasty beer and the friendly ladies at the main counter. read more

This place totally surprised me. I stopped here for some munchies after paddling from Dania Beach Marina. It is about a 1.5 mile paddle. I ordered the fish dip with chips, a cheeseburger and fries with chili and cheese on the side as well as their new poutine fries. Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. This is some great bar food. I especially loved the round chips that came with the fish dip and the gravy that came with the seasoned fries. We received 4 pieces of hand breaded cod (with fries), and your generic dipping toppings (ketchup, tartar sauce & vinegar), but this was some of the best fish and chips I've ever tried. 4/1/2017 - Saw this place a while ago and had it bookmarked. Finally decided to go this weekend. It is inside the state park therefore, you have to pay a fee. $4 for 1 person, $6 for 2 or more. Just follow the signs to BG Whiskey. There was plenty of parking when I arrived. The tide was very high and the area where I could lay my chair and things was in a little mound. I only went to lay out and get in the water for a bit but next time, I will try the kayak or paddleboarding since you can rent both here and for cheap. read more

Sadly our meals weren't the best. We ordered 2 fish taco meals. They came out with no sauce. When I questioned it, I was told they were out of the sauce. Had I known prior, we would've ordered differently. They are completely bland. The hamburger was ok. Not the best. Not the worst. The best lunch item was actually the chicken tenders. Sadly I think there should be 4 or 5. Three is not enough when you've spent the day swimming and in the sun. Oddly, they have the most difficult ketchup packets. A woman saw us struggling and heard us talking about them. She literally brings her own condiments here!!! She gave us some of hers. It's was awesome. I will say... their alcoholic selection was FABULOUS... their regular drink selection, not so much. However, eating on the water is always enjoyable. read more
