I have been a long time customer and supporter of Deelux, back when the shop first opened in downtown Santa Ana many years ago. I've been a customer and seller to this shop for years, and it pains me to write a review like this for a small business. I personally have ran two different Buffalo exchanges, a store with the exact same business model as deelux. And the treatment I've received at deelux over the last year has been so sad to see from the buisness. Unless you're a 20 something, trendy dressing, put together person, they will not even look at your items. I had selectively curated my buy, understanding I have a general idea of buying needs and what would qualify as good pieces to bring in. From the very second I walked in the door, I was laughed at and belittled by the staff. The chick with the orange hair and glasses is the worst, she looked me up and down and walked away as I approached the buying counter with extremely full hands. Someone saw I was struggling and came to help, shoutout the kid with the glasses and mustache (he's always super sweet and others should follow suit). Understanding I understand the buying process, I don't sweat it if they don't take a few things. The chick didn't even bother to open my bag, and call me over not even five minutes after entering the store, I timed it. They return my bags to me in the exact same position I left them on the counter, untouched. I ask politely why they decided to not even look at the times and I just get the normal speak they throw at you when they don't want to buy anything from you. I understand that not every buy is going to be a winner, but I had brand new, designer (stussy and Maison margiela) that were sitting at the bottom of the bag, untouched, that usually, deelux buys in a heart beat. From the second I walked in the store, I felt belittled and lesser than for selling my clothes. The girls at the front judged me from the second I walked in, deemed what I had not even worthy of going through, and placated me when I tried to understand why they decided to not take any of the stuff they would've gone crazy for about a week ago. The whole interaction felt frankly a little discriminatory. Just because I didn't look like a person that would bring anything quality in, they didn't even bother to go through my stuff. and I know that's a sweeping assumption to make, but after selling there for a number of years with positive buying experiences and being treated this way, I can't help but denote it to anything else. I sell here pretty often and have not been treated this way by any of your other staff (shoutout Mikey, he's awesome and a great representative employee). I don't care if they take ANY of my stuff at the end of the day, like I said, I've worked the buying counters and I understand what it takes to be a good buyer both for the customers and the store needs, but the counter service, "better than" attitude, and the blatant discrimination enacted by whos representing your shop at the front has made me literally never want to step foot in your doors again. Sad, but you lost a customer of 8+ years. read more

They have good stuff but a lot of it is pretty expensive compared to other thrift shops at the circle. I also bought this ring TODAY and it already bent and the black 'jewel' (piece of black plastic) already broke off. I work at an office All I do is type and fill out forms And the ring already broke. I spent $17 on this ring and the no return policy sucks. I wish I could get my money back or at least store credit. read more

I used to love going to this store but the workers at this location have made me hate it. Right when I walk in, I feel uncomfortable instantly. The workers seem to all be in their early 20s with no professionalism. The past couple times I've been here, the workers have not welcomed me or anyone I've seen walk in. Also, they are not helpful. When I was purchasing a sweater with one of the girls at the cashier, she gave me attitude the entire time. Definitely not visiting this location again. read more

This ain't no Buffalo Exchange. But here are the Cliff Notes; Quantity-plenty, actually I would say there is TOO much inventory and you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince. At their price point, I would have expected the buyers to have weeded out the frogs already. Customer Service, I felt it was above average for this type of store. Plenty of staff and they were helpful. Here is a beef i havve with their tagging system. They do mark down merchandise as it ages. However the markdowns are nnot color codedd noon grouped together resulting in the customer having to examine each tag. Shoes averaged $20-30 for nothing special. Overall, I could find comparable or better inventory to select from at Goodwill Industries for a fraction of the price. What a disappointment. read more

I have been selling to Deelux in Orange since they had a shop in Santa Ana once a week. It helps supplement my income. I am a vintage clothing collector and my daughter is a model so she gets great freebies from popular designers. Sometimes the fit is wrong and she passes it to me. Lucky for Deelux they get it passed to them! I do wish there was an incentive plan for people that feed their business , so we all win! I love the vibe of this store and want to shout out Daniel! He is super professional and kind. He gets the neat things I bring by and makes me glad I stop by weekly. Your shop is only as good as your last buy. I appreciate his expertise and customer service, he is an asset to this business. I do appreciate this business and the family feel to it. The only thing I wish is that they would have plus sizes for more size range. Not everyone is a size XS ! Besides we live in the age of inclusivity. I sold today and enjoyed my experience. I used to work at a similar buy/sell/trade place so I'm familiar with how everything works. They have the same cash/trade percentages that I find fair: 30% cash or 50% trade. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I would sell here again. I did find a couple things, but overall I was a little disappointed in the current selection on the racks. I've been here before and was much more impressed with the items available then. Obviously every visit won't be a hit, so I would still give this place 4 stars and I will be back. Another drawback is the parking situation, but that's the Orange Circle for ya. read more

I went here even after I said i'd never return because I happened to be with friends at the orange circle. I found an adorable little jacket that had no brand or so I thought. It was 16 bucks and I just now noticed a tiny tag that says SHEIN, 16 bucks for fast fashion trash? I literally cannot believe the 180 this place has done from it's humble beginnings in costa mesa, I never thought I would see fast fashion in a dee lux especially one that is so bad. I took the tags off so now i'm stuck with this junk, which i'm sure wasn't much more expensive than they sold it for. I have been in here a couple times and even found a really nice pair of ankle booties for a reasonable price. So I thought why not come and see if I can sell some clothes or shoes instead of giving them to goodwill. So I went to sell some clothing there today, and I guess because my clothes are plus size, they can't be bought, even though they are brand new. However, they choose to use the words "doesn't meet our needs style wise." I also find it interesting that the shoes I had were legit worn once and said they were "too damaged" looking to be bought. Like please, I have seen way worse for wear shoes for sale in the store than mine. Glad to know this place fat shames people, cause goodness knows you can't buy anything past a size 12 or size large. I love Old Town Orange for their delish desserts, cute architecture, and whimsical stores which include everything from their Antique malls to thrift stores like Dee Lux. Dee Lux is actually one of my favorite thrift stores since it's low key, not as mainstream as Buffalo Exchange and has some great finds! They have a good amount of clothes for both guys and girls and despite being located in an area where many of the thrift stores sells vintage clothing, Dee Lux offers clothing that follows more modern trends. I saw brands that range from Madewell to Everlane to even some UO items that girls like me run to snatch off the racks in an instance. This time around, I picked out a pair of high waisted trouser shorts that would suit well for a preppy look...if I ever was in the mood to actually ditch my lazy clothes. Prices are very fair, as my shorts were only $16 and in good shape. The staff is very nice and the place itself is quite neat! It kind of reminds me of a Crossroads in terms of organization. Their clothing is curated well and though today I may have picked only 1 item up, other days I've gone home with a hole in my wallet.. but that's only when I'm in a hardcore thrifting mood. I haven't had the chance to sell clothes here, though next time I visit, I shall bring my mountain stacks of clothing along because that seems to be another popular activity happening here along with people raiding the racks. read more

They don't buy too much of my stuff. But I must say, I almost always find amazing deal here. Even if it's just on the outside rack. I like the fact that they tend to get more multiples of stuff like platos closet. Unlike what I tend to see at buffalos or goodwill. I only leave reviews when I'm really disappointed or wowed. First of all, the staff was really kind and courteous to me but thats about as much as I can say in terms of compliments. I made an appointment to come in and sell some clothes, many of which followed their criteria (I knew some stuff might not make the cut but I took a chance regardless with all of it). To my surprise they took nothing which confused me because I've seen some questionable things on their sales floor of less quality/not very trendy styles for oddly high prices for a "thrift" store. They were apologetic, though it didn't feel super sincere, oh well. I knew my clothes had some value for sure so I took them to another trendy buy and sell shop a few miles away and they bought 8 of my items (had about 20) and gave me the option to donate the rest to their charity partners. Much better experience there. Can't say I wont give this spot another shot in the future but definitely will be tricky to know what they want if nothing I brought in this time worked. read more

I usually LOVE this store, they have very nice pieces to choose from and every time i go there i buy something. However, the other day i walked in and felt instantly uncomfortable. That day i was feeling a bit down and my mom suggested we stop by for a bit. This was the first time that i wasn't "dressed up". I had my hoodie on and a mask (i still decide to wear one in public) and the employees in the front made me feel so uncomfortable. They kept staring at my mom and i as if we were going to steal something. I'm Mexican so I've been prepared for this type of treatment but I've never felt so uncomfortable up till then. Also since most of the staff is near my age i would expect for them to be welcoming to all people. We were there for about 6 mins tops and then we left. I usually love this store but this experience has made it hard for me to want to go back :( read more

I am not coming back to this place again. My first time consigning clothes, they took so much stuff (like $60 worth), so I assumed the next times I came, I would get a decent amount of cash back, but NO. One time I drove out of my way (35 minutes) to consign 3 bags of summer clothes and they only took ONE ITEM. I was furious. Then I was around Orange again, and decided to bring three bags of fall/winter clothes. They took ONE item (worth $5). I look through their racks of clothes, and some of my stuff is nicer than what they have-and from good brands (clothes I've gotten from boutique clothing stores, A&F etc.). I'd rather try to sell them on Poshmark or something, but that is a hassle and takes time. My next thing is to donate to Goodwill, but some of the clothes I bought at a more expensive original price and I feel they are perfect for these consignment stores. Shopping-wise, they have great prices for jeans (I have found quite a few good pairs here) and a more curated selection than Crossroads and Buffalo Exchange. I went to this location back in February and have been dying to go back ever since!! It's impossible to not buy everything you come across! I love the little knick knack section in the front of the store I literally had such a hard time choosing what to put back! I bought two pairs of urban outfitters boots that basically looked brand new and they have been some of my favorite thrift buys ever. I love how everything is organized, the smallest turn-off was probably the $20 t-shirts but I got over it quickly when I realized they were literal gems! I am looking forward to coming to sell soon & of course getting to see what they have for summer! read more

Considering the prices of the items, you'd expect to at the very least be able to slip on a jacket. Nope. I understand we're in the midst of a pandemic, but department stores all over the state are allowing dressing rooms to be open. If I'm going to spend $70 on a used All Saints jacket, I'm gonna wanna try it on. Especially if there is only store credit on returns. The woman yelled at me from across the store, and proceeded to approach me in a rude manner. At least have the decency of telling me politely. read more

I used to like coming to this store , you get lucky to find unique / nice things for an okay price & I was pretty excited to return after a while bc of Covid but it felt so unwelcoming , none of the employees even seemed to acknowledge their customers , not even at the register. Love this spot I've been coming to DeeLux for years and it never disappoints. The buyers are great and have an amazing eye for unique pieces that other buy sell trade stores are too homogenized to select. Some of these other reviewers are clearly in the wrong place if they're so bent out of shape about the style and selection because there are alot of buy sell trade stores that cater to the branded aritiza/h&m/Zara demographic (no shade if that's your thing) but it's rare especially in OC to find a spot with staff and style that is this curated and special. I sold with them yesterday and the whole staff were such sweethearts. The location is incredible so you can wander the antique stores while they're working on your buy. The pricing for the picks is also super fair so if you're selling vintage or more unique pieces that aligns with what they sell, you'll be a happy camper, I always am :) read more

Cool place but it smells musty and dank. The old store in SA used to smell soooo good because they were maybe burning candles or incense or using spray Aromatics??? Anyway I mentioned it nicely to the salesperson and she became offended seemingly and told me it's not her fault! Rather than just taking note and moving on.... My husband actually waited outside because of the smell being "not so fresh." So, for the record we found what we were looking for but please make your store smell better, I do realize it's an old building, Blah, Blah, Blah... Lastly, the young women working were less than friendly, a bit cold especially for a Friday night close to closing. It would be pleasant if they were as happy and comfortable with their clientele there to shop and a bit less off putting. this isn't rlly a thrift store. everytime i go here i find something i sort of like but know in my head that i can get it cheaper at another thrift. they claim to only sell vintage/trendy clothes but literally sell shein. recently i tried selling some pants and most of them were cute/ trendy and in good condition but were too small for me. they only took a few items didnt give me that much money. i should've just kept my clothes. if you sell here don't expect a lot. just dont sell here bc even if you get the store credit youll end up buying something there thats overpriced read more

Hooray new location! The new store is definitely a lot more spacious which is great for the plethora of great clothing, accessories, and little knick-knacks they sell. The staff was ever so friendly as always. I came in kind of last minute so I unfortunately did not have as much time as I hoped for to check everything out and try on everything I had found interest in but I still left with about 5 things for all under $50! So I'm happy. I will most likely be returning again tomorrow though to finish scoping out the place and get some more goods. As of now, the only down side is parking. You have to drive around a little to find free parking or ones with the parking meters. There are lots for $3 parking close by but ain't nobody got time for that. read more

My first time going to this store was just this past week. It was a good environment, friendly staff and very informative about selling. (30% cash, 50% store credit from selling price. Appointment based selling currently due to covid my guess) But there was just something that didn't really sit well with me. I am pretty well versed in buy/sell/trade stores and can have a good idea of what something SHOULD be priced at. These prices were very high for plain retro stuff. Not to say I didn't love the stuff I got, but $25 for a simple no name pair of pants? $18 for a pair of retro shorts? Seemed a bit of a price gouge to me. Pros: good people, clean and upbeat environment, fun knickknacks, good plus size selection, fair selling process. Cons: over priced as a purchaser. (I spent $41 for two items and even saw plain bucket hats for like $20). Will I be back? Maybe when I have the budget for expensive vintage/retro pieces. All in all not a bad experience but I won't be rushing to this place anytime soon. read more

So excited to have found this place as well! It's super cute with awesome trinkets inside. There is a great selection of clothing and cute finds. I found a really cute Free People red lace sweetheart dress for $15 but sadly it wasn't my size. Mainly I stopped by to try to sell, and they bought a bit more than other places like Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads usually do from me. I think that's probably because the store fits my style more :) I'll be back. They also are very considerate and thoroughly talk about each piece and aren't rude...like some other places. read more

April 15th I met with Jayden and another young lady with glasses to sell my clothing. Both very pleasant and customer focused. They went through my items while I browsed the store. I just brought 14 items to get a feel for what they wanted. They bought 12 of my items and we chatted about fashion and hand knitting and crochet. I made another appointment as they were most interested in my linen and crochet/knit items. I arrived April 30th with items similar to what they previously purchased and requested from me. On arriving I asked to see Jayden as being the buyer with whom my appointment was made. A tall lady with dark hair not quite shoulder length told me that Jayden was not a certified buyer and to leave the items for her. A few minutes later she called me and said that she would take one item. She called it crochet and it's actually knit. Ironically Jayden knew the difference. I mentioned the linen pants that I was asked to bring. She said that they were not full length. I'm 5'6" tall, 32" leg and they are full length on me. What a waste of time when I brought the items I was asked to bring. Jayden may not be what was referred to as a certified buyer but he was far superior with people skills and personality. I have store credit so will go back but won't be bringing any vintage linen until Jayden is buying. read more

I love this place! I've been going here for years and they always have a great selection. Maybe it's just my taste but I love the buyers they have here: always have interesting clothes and really nice shoes. They do have some brand new items but I like their taste - a few band shirts along my interest and knick-knacks. Some highlights of the men's side are the fun casual shoe selection, some really nice Pendletons and other fun button downs. You may also find some quality fabrics on the bottoms side. I can't speak too much for the women's selection but my wife always finds something colorful and fun. read more

I had clothes I wanted to sell them, so I called ahead and asked about the process, they told me to come into the store. When I got there, (with my clothes), they stated I needed an appointment. I advised no one ever said anything when I called, so they had me leave my clothes and said they would call me back. After a few days I got a text saying to come into the store to pick up the payment for the clothes. When I got there, they returned the clothes to me stating they didn't accept scrubs. I didn't have scrubs, the girl looked confused and didn't know what to say, she just stated she would not take the clothes. All this work for nothing! You go into the store and its a bunch of college kids playing around, there's no professionalism here. read more

I thought the website was a bit misleading and decided to try this shop first as a seller. In agreement with all others who have stated that this place is looking for "hipster" items, I was able to verify this today. Honestly, the only reason I was there was because I have recently experienced some traumatic events and I need to downsize in order to stay "above water." So the whole idea of publicly being told what is acceptable and what is not I found a bit distasteful. I was also put off by the guy who was in there making comments about the items that were brought in and openly sharing his offensive thoughts about the sellers with the young lady taking in the items, who simply laughed at his disparaging commentary. I will say that I probably received a bit more than I would have at a yard sale. But I'm not sure the uncomfortable feelings I endured were worth the three or four extra dollars. Funky/Hipster style consignment shop pays well. My sweetheart and I are doing some serious downsizing and cut our wardrobes down by more than half. This left us with many things someone else might like such as Ladies Calvin Klein suits, DKNY dresses, green Converse some unworn men's Ray Bans, stacks of Affliction and Hurley T-Shirts etc.... We pulled the best stuff out and first went to another consignment store in Irvine that bought quite a few items and gave us $40. Then we headed here and we were offered $10 for two items - Green Converse and a pair of Blue Tapestry shorts (good eye, consignment store gal!) I felt that although less of my items fell into their style here, they offered more cash. Tips for sellers: The vibe here is very funky boho/hipster. I think anything steam punk, rockabilly, tiki or hippy style would do well here. This is not the spot to sell your extra "little black dresses" or CK business suits. Tips for buyers: This is the place to go for a pair of designer jeans ($10-15 for jeans originally $150!!!!!!) Its also great for some hip threads for a theme party. I noticed an awesome guys Hawaiian shirt for $2 on clearance. There are some pretty cool things here if you are shopping. Regarding parking, there is a loading zone on the street a few spots down from the store where I parked while unloading my stuff, then we parked down the way on the street. read more

Great place to sell your clothes. Keep in mind that they do not take everything. They only take what is current that season and basically if your clothing is not ruined or threading. I have gone to Dee Lux for a couple months now, everytime I go through my closet and they do take a lot of my items. They either give you 50% in store credit or 35% of what they priced your items at in cash. I always take the cash but they do have some awesome pieces in there. I found a joie jacket in there that I am obsessed with! You got to look but I promise you will find priceless pieces. The only reason why it is 5 star is that i wish they would offer some kind of compensation for parking. There is barely any parking because it is in downtown santa ana so you have to go and keep feeding the meter which can be very hectic and not worth it. read more

Great staffing, who take extra precautions in ensuring a clean and safe environment during COVID. Store is well organized with trendy vintage styles, and prices are very reasonable for the quality merchandise you get! Can't wait to get back there again and shop some more.
