What a great find in Galveston County! The roasted pork and chicken in garlic sauce are wonderful. Lots of authentic dishes to choose from. The restaurant is spotless and the owner, Dee, treats every guest like family.

The dining area is pretty spacious and on New Year's eve there were just a few other guests also dining there. A few others came in grabbed to go orders and left. The women's bathroom was spotless. I forgot to get our servers name but she was great and it didn't take too long for us to get our food besides the patties being made fresh to order. The beef, chicken and spinach patties were all fresh, flaky, crispy, and well seasoned with the perfect amount of spice. I had brown stew chicken with rice/peas, cabbage/carrots and plantains and my niece had jerk chicken with white rice, plantains and greens. All the food was good except I felt they skimped on my chicken portion a little and my chicken could've used a little more spice. It was cooked perfectly though, very tender and even though the portion was smaller than I'm used to it was just the right amount for me to eat during lunch, just not enough to take home for later like I'm used to doing at other Caribbean spots. We ended up getting patties, plantains and jerk chicken to go. Also, the patties were fresh and piping hot but the rest of our food was warm, almost room temperature.

The pernil plate was outstanding -- the pork was perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and had that amazing crispy edge that makes pernil so special. The portion was generous and paired perfectly with the sides. We also tried the tripletas, and they were fantastic. Packed with flavor, juicy meats, and perfectly balanced with the bread and toppings. Easily one of the best tripletas we've had. The yucas were cooked perfectly -- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and great for dipping. They were a perfect side to the sandwiches. For the kids, we ordered the chicken strips from the kids menu, and even those were great. Crispy, well seasoned, and the kids loved them. Overall, the food, flavor, and portions were excellent. If you're looking for authentic Caribbean comfort food, El Caribeño is definitely worth visiting. We'll absolutely be coming back!

Normally you order at the front desk, but they helped us in our table since we were a group of 10. It's a small place with about 4 tables and only one restroom. The girl that helped us was attentive. One complaint is that they have Pepsi and not Coke but that's a personal preference. Food is ok, someone ordered Queso Frito, for my taste was too salty. But the Tostones with pork meat were really good. I got mofongo with camarones, the shrimp were good size, the mofongo was too dry but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that, I noticed they serve the mofongo not in the traditional way, which is like in a cup shape the protein in the middle, here they serve the mofongo in the shape of a small cake and the protein on the side. The arroz con gandujes was good and the pork was good. I feel they have potential. The restroom situation (only one) is not ideal though.

From the moment I stepped into this cozy spot, I instantly felt like I was back home in Puerto Rico. Just like our island, it's small, but filled with a huge heart. We spent time chatting with them about our families, childhood memories, and how happy we are that they've kept our culture alive right here in the Montrose area of Houston. We enjoyed a true Puerto Rican feast: arroz con gandules, pernil, mofongo con camarones al ajillo, pollo frito, empanadas de yuca y masa, flan de coco, limber de guanábana, and of course, more food to take home because we couldn't have it all at once! My personal favorite were the limbers with traditional flavors I don't recall ever having a limber outside of PR. This is a counter-service eatery, where you can see all the freshly prepared dishes right in front of you. You truly can't ask for better service; if there's something you're craving that's not in the menu for that day and they have time, they'll gladly make it for you! That's the kind of love and care you only find in places that cook from the heart. Prices are very reasonable although parking can be a bit tricky but that's mostly all of Montrose. Let's keep our culture thriving. s Support our local Puerto Rican businesses. WEEPA!

They change the menu daily so check their Facebook page to know what they are serving. We had Mofongo with Pernil and Mofongo with bacalao (cod fish) which were delicious. Their empanadas (beef and corn beef) were light, flaky and very tasty. We had some platanos maduros (sweet plantain) and some tostones (fried green plantains). Topped the delicious meal with Malta & Flan. The parking is very sparse and the dining room only has 3 small tables and some seats along the wall. They sell till they run out so you want to go early.

The pork fried rice hits every time, and the fried chicken is solid crispy, flavorful, and not greasy or overly salty like a lot of places. Overall, it's one of those spots that just doesn't miss. They offer a pretty healthy menu, but I decided on the Boneless BBQ Ribs combo with pork fried rice. You also have the option of vegetable fried rice or fries (you can do half/half), but the pork fried rice seemed to be the most popular. I was not disappointed. I've had BBQ boneless ribs years ago and have been chasing that same flavor ever since, and this really hit the spot. The ribs were flavorful, the portions were huge, and the prices were super affordable. If this place were any closer to my house, I could easily see it becoming a regular (maybe even a little dangerous lol). Either way, I'll gladly make the drive when the craving hits. The turnaround time was very quick. honestly, the longest part of my visit was just deciding what to order. The sushi station is partially open, so you can actually watch them making the sushi, which is a nice touch. Inside, the restaurant is spacious, bright, and has plenty of seating. Overall, this spot exceeded my expectations. Between the fast service, generous portions, and variety on the menu, I'm already looking forward to coming back to try their other options.

Thank god we found this!…read more After finishing our lunch at Wrap & Roll, we saw this out of the corner of the eye and decided to stop here as the girlfriend was looking for some caribbean snacks. Being from St Croix island in the Virgin Islands, seeing the menu and taking in the smells of this place gave her memories of back home. Of course I was happy to indulge her request as it gave me an opportunity to try some handheld eats. First the beef pattie, pretty big and so savory with the meat melting in your mouth and the dough having a nice texture and crust. And then the saheena; OMG! It was my first time having this lovely pastry which is made of chickpeas, spinach, and caribbean spices. You'll be hooked on this after one bite. Texture was similar to a savory piece of cornbread. Of course I was very happy with this item. The girlfriend ordered a currant roll which had some sweetness to it with a flaky crust. I enjoyed it but not as much as I was scarfing down my beef pattie and saheena. They also serve traditional caribbean eats including jerk chicken, oxtails, bake & saltfish, and roti wraps. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. Sadly I could not get the Aloo Pie (sold out) but they assured me it's worth having and to come back and try it (which we will). Pearland is lucky to have this place here. Definitely recommend trying it out for yourself!
