PT here is incompetent and have left me with debilitating pain that has not gone away in over 2 years which has left me with problems working and limited my personal life as well. Stephanie saw me right after I was mostly healed from a lumbar herniated disc that was enlarged causing severe nerve pain down my left leg with a different PT company and I could not be on my feet for 6 months without excruciating nerve pain down my entire leg. I was advised to have surgery, and instead found a wonderful chiropractor that healed my nerve pain and decreased the herniation with noninvasive spinal decompression. I switched PT companies to Dedham Health to work on core strengthening after having the spinal decompression; I updated physical therapist Stephanie in depth during our first appointment on how deconditioned I was and that I just finished spinal decompression. On our second appointment she was much too aggressive and had me side stepping with cables with 10 pound weights. I ended up with severe pain all down my entire right body from my right neck down to my right foot within 2 hours after leaving the appointment and going home. An educated professional physical therapist should have the judgment to know this exercise is too aggressive for someone who was deconditioned and debilitated from a severe herniated disc; I had not used any weights in PT at the other company for my disc. I still have not recovered and still have debilitating pain down my right side. I was also seeing the pool physical therapist Judy there and she was very condescending. She kept trying to tell me about my herniated disc (initial injury) like I didn't know anything about it despite telling her multiple times I'm in healthcare and also already had the herniation which I was hospitalized for for 9 months already. Once I was injured in PT with Stephanie, I went to the next pool PT appointment hoping the water would help, but I couldn't do anything because I was in so much pain. Judy had a nasty attitude and disregarded my pain and said "Well what I am supposed to write in your notes???" I said "You write that I can't do the exercises." You don't fabricate documentation as a healthcare professional. I talked to Stephanie in person to let her know I wouldn't be coming back due to getting injured in my appt with her as it was too aggressive, she listened but just said "it was only 10 lbs." disregarding how deconditioned I was which I had explained to her the history of in depth during our first appointment. I let her know about Judy's attitude and that she asked me what to write in my chart when I told her I was in too much pain to do the pool exercises. I have had to take leaves from work due to this pain, and do not know what I will be able to do for work in the future, and it has caused financial strain, as well as physical strain and limitations in my every day life outside of work. read more

Would like to give negative stars for that people who run the PT. The gym and facility is nice but unless you want to overpay and be charged fir appointments you cancel in advance stay away. The PT billing process is profit driven and will gouge the customer whenever possible. They could care less about your care they are just interested in bringing in $$. Try calling and the PT billing group seemed to get satisfaction out of saying they can't help and the policy is we charge whenever possible and have no understanding. Stay away!! read more

After visiting multiple PT offices in the Boston area without relief for my debilitating chronic back pain - and more recently shoulder pain -, I finally found William at Dedham Health Physical Therapy. Instead of the typical quick muscle massages followed by standard exercises, he crafted a tailored exercise program that he supervised closely, ensuring I was performing each exercise correctly. The combination of manual therapy and targeted strengthening and stretching exercises has transformed my condition. I experienced lasting relief for the first time in years. William is incredibly knowledgeable, effective, caring, and also takes the time to explain each step of the process. Disinterested care. Workers were more likely to be chatting with one another rather than caring about their patients. I learned a lot about their vacation plans/weekend plans/dinner plans as I was being treated. Most of their time was spent looking at a computer rather than explaining exercises. In addition, I was told the wrong time for an appointment and arrived an hour late. I was told there was a $75 fee for missing the appointment. I explained that I was there--and had been told a different time (having written it clearly in my calendar for an hour later). I was told I was out of luck. Awful, Awful, Awful!,,Do not waste your time and money going here! I went for an initial visit and consultation on January 3, 2022. Stephanie Schwartz did the evaluation. When I got there I was handed a clipboard and was instructed to fill out some paperwork. It took 10 minutes to fill out the paperwork: the standard...when did the pain start..where was it located, what activities has the pain prevented you from doing, etc. I handed in the paperwork and was instructed to have a seat. A few minutes later, Stephanie came out with a grimace on her face, and lead me to the therapy room. She didn't make small talk and seemed unhappy to be there . She had my paperwork in her hand. The room was very dimly lit. There were about a dozen therapy tables but only one other person was being attended to. There was no music, television sets, etc. Quite dreary. She started asking me questions " When did the pain start, where was it located, what activities has the pain prevented me from doing." I said "All that information is on the clipboard in front of you." She said, " Well, tell me again." I told her that I had low back pain on the right side extending into my hip and down my leg. It has prevented me from sleeping comfortably and I had ended up in the emergency room the week before because the pain was so severe that I couldn't move and had to call 911. She never said, "That sounds awful! I'm sorry to hear that" or anything else with a modicum of compassion. She had me lay down on the table and proceeded to manipulate my leg and hip. She began pressing on my knee to evaluate my flexibility . It hurt and I said "Ouch! " She continued to press and I said "Ouch!" again. She continued to press and I said "OUCH!" That hurts! Stop". She never apologized or made any comment. She then said that she thought the pain was in my knee and not my hip. I said" I'm a yoga instructor and I can do Half Pigeon pose comfortably, so I don't believe the pain is in my knee." She said, " I'm a yoga instructor too and proceeded to demonstrate Half Pigeon pose to me. She was actually doing the pose wrong and I told her so. I said, " I'm going back to the front desk and asking for a different therapist." She ran ahead of me and by the time I had gathered my belongings and gotten to the front desk she had spoken to the manager. She must have told her I was giving her a hard time because when I requested a different therapist, the manager said, "I think it would be best if I went somewhere else for physical therapy." I said "You mean you aren't going to let me try a different therapist?" And she said "No.".Even though I had only spent 5 minutes with Stephanie, she still had me pay the full price for the session whi read more

I went to Dedham Health Physical Therapy after I had my ACL replacement and meniscus repair. I thought it started off great but then it went down hill. The biggest issue - they repeatedly did not fill out my insurance paperwork correctly which caused major delays in my insurance approval and thus therapy. They would wait until I was out of approved visits to seek approval for additional visits. They would not tell me until I was out of visits (or 1 or 2 visits past what was approved) and it would take 3-5 working days to get insurance to respond. This doesn't help when I am supposed to go 3x/week. I was denied at one point and they couldn't tell me why. I called my insurance company. After explaining my situation, the insurance company informed me that the paperwork that Dedham Health physical therapy was submitting was inaccurate and incomplete. DHTP did not indicate that it was post surgical (versus pre-surgical), nor did they provide a diagnosis code. When I told DHPT, they responded that it was not true however this kept happening. Issue #2 is responsiveness. My last visit in, I had to fill out the insurance paperwork again (for the issue stated above). I was told the computers were down but that they would send in the paperwork as soon as they were back up and running. It would take 3-5 days for the approvals so I should call back then to set up my appointment. When I called them a week later, I was told that the insurance company did not respond and that they would call the insurance company and "get back to me". I followed up with the insurance company myself. The paperwork was never submitted, that is why they had not approved it yet. Nonetheless, DHPT never called me back. Which is just as well as I then received confirmation from the insurance company that I was denied because 1. date of surgery was missing and 2. the diagnosis section did not contain a primary diagnosis code. When I shared this with my physical therapy assistant, he didn't have a response for me, nor knew what to do to help the situation. Issue #3 There is only one physical therapist licensed for that location. Everyone else is a physical therapist assistant. This is OK however they did not communicate that for my initial assessment or treatment. Issue #4 They would set me off to do my exercises as they would talk to each other or quickly move onto other patients (they would spend the first 10 minutes or less with you and then send you off for your exercises or start on another patient). There was no oversight as to whether the movements were done properly. The only time this was not the case was when Luke (he is not a PT or PTA) to ensure that everything was done correctly. If you are to go here, the only saving grace is Cheryl. She is hard core and on her game. Other than that, I would stay away. read more

The owner of this establishment has been extremely rude and incentive towards me. I am a domestic violence survivor. I explained this to her. I advocated for myself on numerous occasions. She continued to talk and treat me as though I had a tennis injury. It is extremely challenging for me to seek help on so many levels. If you're looking to physical healing from a twisted ankle this may be a good fit. If your injuries have caused extreme pain throughout your body and you need compassion and communication I would strongly suggest you continue your search . read more

Went to PT for a herniated L5/S1 Was evaluated and started the same week. Jaime did a great job building my core and getting me started on a routine of stretches and excersizes which I have continued at home. The entire staff was great, very personable and friendly. I have been a patient of Dedham Health Physical Therapy for over 20 years! I have a mobility disability that requires regular appointments so that I can continue to remain mobile. I have had sprains, fractures, muscle tears, etc., so I have experienced most of the types of physical therapy that is offered here. The staff are caring and knowledgeable about the treatment that is needed and whenever I need more information I ask and it is provided. Recovery is hard work and you get out of the assigned exercises what you put in to them. While there may be discomfort along the way the end result will be worth it. Whenever I have needed help with something I am working on there has always been someone available to help me. Ice, Heat and water (for hydration is always available) just ask. The facilities, both in the physical therapy offices and in the club, are top notch. They have a large variety of equipment with staff available to help you. As an added bonus the rest of the facility is available for your use on the day of your appointment (for that day). read more

I like that they focus on strengthening and stability but with my dislocated shoulder and ligament tightening surgery I need to be massaged out and I have told them a few times and a few different people. I feel like they just do not want to do it. They would rather give you a task to get back to talking and gossiping in a little group at the head of all the pt tables. I have hear multiple people complain about patients and about work in front of me and other patients. Unprofessional but would still recommend if you need a aggressive strengthening plan/routine. read more

Just finished up a my PT at Dedham Health Physical Therapy and was very happy with my results. I had injured my knee running and in just a few weeks of work, I'm back up and moving. Most of my work was with Stephanie and Rachel who put together an effective set of exercises to get my knee back to normal. Overall, the entire staff was very friendly and knowledgable and always had my goals in mind when pushing me through my exercises. Previous experience with DRAC a few years ago was exceptional . After having arm pain and problems lifting my arm and sleeping on that side. DRAC physical therapists brought my arm and shoulder back to normal, Pain disappeared and a normal range of motion resulted. If it starts to act up I do the exercises they taught me and its back to normal again. About seven months ago I started having pain which didn't go away in a new area which my doctor feels may be back related. Physical therapy was suggested so of course rather than try the hospital therapy I scheduled an appointment with DRAC. Being a 62 year old senior sometimes it's difficult starting my day especially on a non work day which is the day I scheduled my DRAC appointment. Really didn't have the energy and did not show up for my appointment. I called a day later, apologized and rescheduled. The woman I spoke to was pleasant and made a second appointment for me. what's been going on really has me frightened and again I did not go to my appointment. On both occasions I received a text saying you missed your appointment, please call to reschedule. When I did call I was told I could not reschedule because I missed two appointments. Fair enough, I was wrong, I should have at least called. Then I received a $35.00 bill saying no show fee. I called and spoke to a billing agent who said no problem as if they would wave the fee. She asked me to hold. After a long wait, the most condescending woman came on and said you didn't call or show so we charge you. Trying to explain to her that I was never told about this fee even after missing my first appointment was to no avail as she just talked louder and over me. She said we tried to call you but your message box was full. Call me to tell me you didn't show and now we will charge you? Should this not be explained up front? If not after the first missed appointment? She just got louder and more condescending not even giving me a chance to speak. Being in a management position she seems to have lost the knowledge that its a customer based business and weather or not they were going to charge me, she could have acted more professional. Instead, it seems she has entitlement and does not care. Being in a customer based industry and knowing the power of Yelp I told her I was going to post on yelp to which she again sarcastically responded " have a nice day" Knowing her attitude was wrong and condescending and she feels she has entitlement and is untouchable, I still did not post on Yelp. I did not show for my appointments, I was wrong. Having said this, If I knew I would be billed for not showing, maybe I would have pushed myself to show no matter how I felt those days. Today I received a second bill this time for $70.00 for both no show fees. Now I feel this is personal. Mass law says these fees can be charged. They need to be told or signed for up front and If one person gets charged for missing an appointment, all must be. This is not about the money. It's about being told up front and the attitude from the supervisor dealing with the public so unprofessionally. Hope no other seniors are treated this way. With condescending disrespect. I tore ACL and meniscus. Initially started therapy at Brigham and Women's. Meniscus healed and I had surgery to repair just the ACL. Several months later (while still in therapy) I slipped and re-tore my meniscus. My physical therapist thought that I should have it surgically repaired this time instead of letting it heal on it's own so I did. So at this time I was rehabbing both my ACL and meniscus. When I was finally cleared to drive, I decided to switch to a physical therapy clinic that was closer and had parking. I decided on DHAC for several reasons - they have pools and the gym equipment is amazing (upstairs) and they let you workout before or after your appointment and you have access to the pools and gym classes they offer as well. (Therapy has to be on the same day within a certain time period.) I was really looking forward to this - again the facility is amazing but sadly the physical therapy department is not. I think for those who have simple injuries or need a simple strengthening program I think they would be good. But for others who have injuries that require skilled therapy don't bother. My appointments at the Brigham were is generally about 90 mins. or so. My appointments here were 40 mins. and that included 10 mins. of ice. Generally this is how it worked for my appointment. I arrive and they put me on a bike for 15 minutes and then they bend you once and then tell you to do a few heel slides, step on a chair to help stretch your knee. Then a few leg raises. Then the work on you for literally two minutes while talking to their coworkers, then you ice and your done. I would never have gotten better if I stay there they don't do any manual massaging - what you have to do when you have certain types of knee injuries to help prevent scar tissue formation and work out the muscle tightness. After three sessions I knew it wasn't going to get better and I went somewhere else. My advice: if you have a simple ankle sprain, or if you want to go there primarily to use the gym equipment or the pool upstairs, or the classes you can go-ahead and give them a try. If you have any kind of injury that requires surgery, or need manual therapy to get rid of muscle tightness go somewhere else. I should have known better right after the eval as they didn't even ask to look at my gait pattern - which is something they do everywhere when you have a knee injury. On the upside they are really nice - from the front desk to the aides and they seem to really like working there with each other. They also send appointment reminders by text message which is great. The Downside - I would have been there forever with little to no improvement. Side note, another patient who had started around the same time left as well, and we ended up going to the same new physical therapy place. My last piece of advice - check with your surgeon about the therapy place you choose - see if they've heard anything good /bad about it. read more

The absolute best! Meghan is not afraid to push me and try new methods of therapy! She's been there cheering me on every step of the way! My strength and balance has improved tremendously! This place has the latest equipment and really teaches you how and why to use it. The heated salt water pool is amazing! Pool therapy is a great way to get started in the healing process, as it takes the pain and pressure off the body. The facility is always clean, and the staff is friendly, interested, and educated! I have been going to DRAC Physical Therapy for over year now. I can say upfront the front end staff is wonderful the therapist is wonderful but the billing dept. is the worse I have encountered. They are horrible in updating accounts, even if you have a no show/ cancellation and you call in the 24-28 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule, they add it to your account in an effort to collect more money. They have process many claims with all paid in full, however they want to charge me for 4 cancellations which were legit medical reasons where I was rush to urgent care, my husband had emergency care and my daughter had two asthma attacks. 2, There also want to charge me for reschedules in 2017 two of which I had and paid in full. Come to find out they said I 4 unpaid which is lies and incorrect information. Forward the baking statements to show proof and they still demanding pay. Please go elsewhere for treatment, its not worth it!!! The claims are pricey and they will take all your money. I am so upset, they have caused me more grief than anything, so sad they don't provide the care instill in their mission statement , this place is not worth your Time and Care GO ELSEWHERE!!!!! read more
