Second, let me stress that he gives a fair and reasonable price. In fact, his bid was literally half of that of another contractor, for the exact same project. And lastly, and most importantly, let me stress how impressed with the quality of work Mark and his team do. We are very happy with the end result, and he gave us the exact look that we wanted for our pavers. Attached are two pictures. The first is a photo of what the original entrance looked like when we first bought the house 13 years ago. I included this photo only to show what the walkway looked like before. The house had since been painted but the walkway and the decomposed granite were still just like this before our current project. The second shows what our entrance looked like before Mark had put in the pavers. It didn't always look quite this bad, but we had to put in two pillars to hold up a beam that was sagging. That required us to demo the concrete walkway. The contractor who was doing that part of the job for us was unable to secure a reliable concrete or paver subcontractor, so we did a search here on Yelp and found Mark. The second picture was taken just moments ago when Mark finished the job. We absolutely love it! We can't recommend him enough!

That alone speaks volumes about the quality and durability of his workmanship. I recently hired him again for our driveway extension, concrete work, and beautiful stonework on our pillar. Once again, Antonio and his team delivered excellent results. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and craftsmanship are outstanding. Whether you're looking for an affordable option or a more expensive, high-end project, Antonio is willing to work with your needs and budget. One thing I especially appreciate is his flexibility with payment plans, making it easier for homeowners to complete their projects without having to pay everything upfront. One piece of advice: As with any construction project, be mindful of the financial details. Always double-check payment calculations, material costs, deposits, and remaining balances to ensure everything adds up correctly. I recommend having a clear written agreement and keeping track of all payments throughout the project. Overall, Antonio's work speaks for itself. It's not often you find a contractor whose concrete work still holds up after more than a decade. His flexibility with payments, quality craftsmanship, and willingness to accommodate different budgets are greatly appreciated. Thank you, Antonio and your team, for another job well done!

We had such a good experience with California Rocks! Marshall and Lopez are a dream team…read more They really helped me realize the vision we had for our Backyard, they're experts in identifying problems (that other contractors didn't notice) and overall aesthetics and proportion. We added concrete to the pool area and a few other spots to begin with. Pricing was very competitive, and they got everything done so quickly! We even added on getting turf for the rest of the grass as we trusted their judgement on our sulky muddy grass! They even helped us design a putting green for my husband and now the whole family can participate. It's ridiculous how much we use our backyard now! There were also lots of little things (that had nothing to do with their work) we asked them to fix here there, they agreed to over and over again, you know they really care about every job and making their customers happy when they dump your old kiddie jungle gym for free! They are very busy and are always working on multiple jobs, but are always accessible and quick. Absolutely loved working with Marshall, he's a really cool guy. Some of the other reviews talked about him choosing his family over running around with his head chopped off for the clients. Not even the case, he always responds and tells you what to expect and WHEN. And if it doesn't happen, he follows up and done. Most people need to be more life focused like him, he's totally gives off good vibes. It was always a pleasure when he stopped by to check on the project. Super great attitude and his foreman Lopez is the ABSOLUTE best, he's so knowable about the work and bent over backwards to make me happy. They're ENTIRE team was just so nice and worked hard. Thanks again you guys, happy we choose you, you made our backyard dreams come true!

My recommendation is to avoid any work done by California Rocks using Joaquin Lopez as the Sub…read moreContractor I started a concrete project with California Rocks 18 months ago, Demo my old concrete and replace and redesign with new concrete around my pool and in the front yard, Marshall provided a competitive Quote and we started. Marshall was good to deal with , but his subcontractor "Joaquin Lopez" was impossible Poor Quality 1.The dyed concrete came out is various colors and was very apparent it was not mixed well 2. The stamping was not done correctly and in places we had tool , brush and footprints in the concrete, sections that were not stamped, steps that never got finished 3. During demolition there was damage to the plaster in my pool that was never repaired 4. During the pouring of the concrete there was splash onto my stucco that has never been removed. 5. The reinforcement wire was not supported and sunk to the dirt. This caused major cracks in the concrete Communication 1. Marshall did what he could to communicate but was not getting response from Lopez 2. Lopez would make promises and then not deliver most of the time 3. Money was requested and paid each time but I never held back enough to have any leverage. This was my mistake. To California Rocks Credit, they did come out and cut out some of the worst areas and poured new concrete. They offered to apply a coating to make all the concrete match. This made the situation better. The pattern they sprayed is not what I wanted, but to make this whole situation go away I agreed with it and it is done, Nothing I can do now except hate it. To this day there are areas in my front walk and driveway that have a white residue on them that I have asked several times to have fixed and I am now getting no response from Marshall or Joaquin Lopez.

However, none of them were up to par when compared to McCabe Concrete. The owner Jim ( or Fred) was simply amazing for the following reasons. 1. Upon initial contact, Jim was quick to respond. The open line of communication remained throughout the course of the project. 2. It was extremely important for me to know the materials that were being used, the color and the finishing of the final product as well as the type of stones that were used so I can achieve my vision. Jim was extremely patience in receiving my input, as well as providing me with his expertise so the product can be visually and structurally sound. 3. Finally, Jim's pricing was extremely fair. He showed up to work on time daily, as well as completed the project on the date we have agreed on. Conclusion? I would contact Jim in a heartbeat for a future project, and I highly recommend you to do the same.
