Decker Kitchen is amazing. This is the best kept secret in town and I selfishly hope it stays that way. The breakfast burritos are top tier, and the drinks are fantastic. I had a breakfast burrito with sausage and bacon. The ingredients were well balanced. I liked the cheese and the grilled tortilla. Eggs were fluffy. To drink, I had a margarita and a bourbon mule. The margarita was simple but high quality. Just the way I like it. No BS sweeteners or mixers. The service was impeccable. The vibe was perfectly casual, and it was wonderful sitting on the patio watching golfers chip on to the nearby green. This is definitely a place I'm adding to my brunch rotation. read more

Two trips now to this hidden gem on the Lake Lindero Golf Course. First trip the ribs at lunch, amazing and I would drive back here again for those anytime. I had them with a Dill Margarita and yes sounds weird but it totally is amazing. The cocktails here are always inspired. So glad they found a spot to reopen. It reminds me of their first location, smaller and more mellow. QR code ordering is the easiest I've used. The menu is extensive for a golf course spot. Second visit had the Cali breakfast burrito and from the menu you can modify to your hearts content but I generally just like it however they put it together as they are the pros. But I did add bacon to my cali burrito and added the hot mess option as well. Super good and big burrito. I should have only ate half but it was too good to stop. Food comes out quick and service with a smile and any questions you have answered. I paired it with a bloody Mary and then a Azalea cocktail later. Both amazing! Sorry I forgot to take any pics but honestly it's more about taste than what it looks like here but it looks good I wish I had taken a picture of the ribs at least or the drinks. I golf at Lake Lindero regularly and I love stopping by Decker after a quick 9. I usually grab a cold draft beer and today I finally tried their Bloody Mary. One of the best bloodies I have ever had. We miss the sourdough bread they used to make at the bigger restaurant. Overall it's good, but we aren't fans of this new thing restaurants are doing by having to order through an app. I feel like if we're going to sit down and tip someone, it should be full service. Ordered the feta mousse toast, as the menu described their enduring bread baking process of making it in 3 days. Man that was bomb bread!!! The tomatoes with the creamy feta, the crunchy, thick, chewy bread. I would order one per person cause it's way too good to share. Had the bbq ribs dish. The meat is fork tender and no need to get the face all saucy, can be eaten without a knife. So delicious. The roasted potatoes were crispy outside and soft melty in the middle. I actually ate the charred garlicky crispy pieces that remain on the plate, afterwards. Coleslaw was good. Ordered espresso martini, mixed well. My office had their holiday dinner party here on a weekday evening. They had a table and chairs set up for the 9 of us. We had awesome servers who let us know the dinner specials and checked up on us frequently. However, it was really difficult to hear them and each other since there was a DJ playing songs and it was just overall loud. The interior is decorated nicely for the holiday season. We ordered our cocktails from the bar and the strawberry one ($16) was sweet and strong. We all shared the appetizers which included bread, lamb meatballs, olives, charcuterie of meats and cheese. I ordered the ribeye steak with the crispy potatoes ($49) and it did taste good but I kinda wished it came also with a side of veggies. The steak was cooked to medium rare as requested and the potatoes had a crispy outside with a soft inside :9 I was so full that I had to take my steak and potatoes in a to-go box home. Unfortunately, my coworker forgot her to-go box with her steak and potatoes and when she went back inside the restaurant, the staff already cleared the tables. Very cute place for date night! We had a reservation at 5:45 PM and it was pretty empty, but I definitely noticed a steady stream of people so probably a good idea to make a reservation. The food menu isn't super extensive, but I just assume that they cook the few options that are available really well. If you like alcohol, they have a VERY extensive drink menu. Here's what we ordered: - Grilled garlic butter bread: I was expecting bread slathered in garlic butter, but this was definitely pretty different. I don't think my description can do it justice, but please just order it and give it a try. Having the slight charred flavor to the bread was really nice, and the garlic scent was definitely stronger than the flavor. The bread was crispy and chewy (nice little workout for your jaw before the main course). This was recommended by our server and we were not disappointed! - Bone-in kurobata pork chop: The pork chop was thicker than I was expecting, and really juicy. The mustard vinaigrette was amazing! The apple salad was very refreshing, and the cheesy potato gratin was delicious. I loved the crispy layer of baked cheese on top. - Suckling pig: The portion was a bit smaller than I was expecting, but packed with a ton of flavor. The braised pork shoulder was SO tender. I've never been a fan of polenta so I knew it was risky ordering this dish, but the red pepper polenta was actually really good! I've had bad experiences with polenta in the past since it just tasted like a mushy pile of... nothing. However this polenta had a nice peppery and cheesy flavor to it. I probably would have preferred a different side, but glad I got to experience polenta I didn't hate! Would've also been nice if there were more greens in this dish. We were saving our space for dessert for some frozen yogurt down the street, but based on the pictures on here it looks like they have some great options. Decker Kitchen has been on my list for awhile so it was nice when my friend and I could sneak away for an early weekend lunch. Located in a shopping center there is plenty of parking and wasn't hard to find. Being that their in a shopping center I felt like they did a decent job with the decor to make it feel anything BUT that. Their patio was cozy and covered enough that you'd forget where you are, which helps with the atmosphere. The interior is much larger then I expected and very spacious. We were surprised that coming for an early weekend lunch Decker was pretty dead. I guess this is more a late lunch or dinner spot? We had the entire restaurant to ourselves for a good portion of our dining visit - a few tables filled out on the patio. A little too quiet for our taste but again maybe an off day. The service was 5 Stars! Our waiter was the bartender and waiter when we dined it, again slow enough that he could manage both. He was super friendly and nice. The pace of the drinks and meal was spot on. Also believe the owner or manager came in at one point and checked on our table to say hello, very friendly nice folks here. The cocktail menu is impressive and it was hard to narrow down to pick just one. I got the Pineaprol Spritz which was as tasty as it was visually stunning. The perfect refreshing cocktail. However, $17 for a cocktail was a bit steep, kept me from ordering another one. Seems like money lost overtime and my friend said the same. Yes the cocktail was quality but a bummer if your paying more for a cocktail then your meal. The food was pretty darn good and priced appropriately. We started with the grilled garlic bread which was fabulous! I mean can you mess up bread? Hopefully not BUT can you perfect it? Hard to do but Decker definitely found a way. Crunchy buttery grilled bread you can't go wrong. I had the Mac and cheese which was so creamy, cheesy, and delish! Much better then I expected and my friend agreed she'd add that to her favorite list. My friend was more health conscious and went with the beet salad (I need to learn from her). Her salad was also really good - huge chunks of beets, fresh, cold, the perfect salad. Fair to say we both were super impressed with our meal. Take-away review: This 10 table restaurant is just what Westlake LACo and Ventura Co. needed. It's a fabulous farm to table spot near the Regency Theater. It's perfect for a special night out. Our meal was covered by DH's work, so we went big! While it's farm to table, let's first start with the drinks. Oh my gosh! The cocktails are delicious. I had your discounted margarita that was offered as a "side" via the online takeaway order system. It was a $9 treat! I cannot wait to try more of their cocktails soon. I got the salmon with quinoa. They were both delicious. The salmon was a good sized piece of fish. DH got the large ribs and they lasted him for two more meals later in the week. The ribs come with a side of potatoes and you can get a side of BBQ sauce. We also had the bread. I think it's too much for $7 but it was absolutely delicious! So the last time I was here, we had a wonderful time. Food was great, dessert, even better....but today was a new day. I made reservations for my husband's birthday for 7:30. Keep in mind, this was an available time on their website. We get there, everything seems fine so far. We ordered an appetizer, once the app arrives, we order a Caesar salad which was amazing. We noticed no one new had come into the restaurant for at least 45 min so I decided to check to see what time they close and they close at 8:30. When I looked at their reservation choices, the latest reservation you could make was 8pm so I didn't check what time they closed then since they went that late. We stop our server and ask her about the closing time and whether or not we would be able to order dessert after our entrees. We asked her twice...she said absolutely even if the kitchen closes at 8:30 because as long as you're sitting down, everything's fine. Cut to we get our entrees after 8:30, take a couple of bites, and ask the server for a couple of boxes. In that same moment, we asked her again if we would still be able to get the dessert. She once again assured us that we would be able yo get the dessert.....you guys....she comes back to tell us we can't get the dessert because the kitchen is closed. Stumbled upon this little gem on a cold rainy day. It was very quiet since it is located on the golf course. However, we were promptly greeted by its friendly and attentive owner, Graham. He gave us a brief rundown of how the menu and ordering work (it is done through a QR code). I normally hate ordering on my phone, but the process was very easy and user friendly. I required slight modifications due to my gluten allergy and Graham was super helpful by letting the chef know. The place was very clean and nicely decorated. They do have an outside patio but since it was raining, we were not able to enjoy it that day. We ordered a cocktail while we waited. The Strawberry Fields is out of this world. Just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. These are dangerously good. We have tried several of the menu items and we are never disappointed. You can't go wrong. All of the food is delicious from the salads, to the breakfast burritos. The flavors perfectly complement each dish. We were told about Decker Kitchen by our neighbors several times and finally had the opportunity to have breakfast there yesterday, I am telling you this place is a hidden gem. We had the Eggs Benedict and it was amazing, there version with house made bread, arugula, prosciutto and made to order hollandaise sauce will knock your socks off. We had French Press coffee with beans from a local supplier called Longevity and it was delicious. Service was top notch, ambience was incredible and with that said we will be returning to try the Charcuterie as well as dinner. Ribs seemed like their were cooked an hour beyond what they needed and were wayyyy to tender leaving their proper "snappy" texture left behind in the oven. I found a nice table and wasn't sure what to order with a sensitive tummy. Thomas immediately offered me a fresh squeezed ginger shot. He arrived with two and we "toasted to wellness! Yelp really needs to give the option of no stars. I am not one to want to review a place if it's going to be a bad review. But I thought I would for the sake of any who might consider going to this restaurant. Who doesn't want farm to table? A group of 5 of us went and the service was slow. When I say slow, I mean it took them almost 2 hours to bring out our entrees. They brought the appetizers out quicker, 45 minutes after we ordered. Hahaha In my decades of going to various places to eat, I can't recall having waited this long for my food to be served. And to top it off, it wasn't even busy! We patiently waited and waited... sometimes wondering if they were going out and killing the cow! On another note, the food itself left much to be desired. We ordered various entrees and appetizers and really, hmm...not great. The service was bad. They were nice but the service was bad. Does that make sense? They would disappear for periods of time. And we would wonder "where are they? What are they doing? Why are they taking so long?" The real kicker, which is the main reason I'm writing this is, we get the bill and there's a 20+% gratuity tacked onto it, discreetly hidden in between the other charges. Thankfully, we scrutinized the bill (initially because it was quite a large amount of money!) and then saw the gratuity charge. Okay. So some of you, or most, might be saying "that is typical.." well, I say, not for such a small party AND, considering the service was HORRIBLE, we would have preferred to choose what amount to give to these people. As consumers, we have a choice on how much we want to pay out for tips (which stood for To Insure Prompt Service, which we didn't get, not even by any stretch of the imagination!). When I talked to the waiter, there was no remorse. No desire to apologize for having to go to another state to kill a cow, butcher it and bring it all the way back for our burgers (okay so that's probably not what they did but we waited FOREVER for our food!). Where is the apology? Or at least a sincere one? How about saying sorry, we'd like to make it up to you? Nope. When I confronted the waiter (and I was nice about it), he responded as though scripted. Nice but scripted. He didn't seem to feel bad at all. There was no compensation for making us wait forever. And they never came to fill our drinks. We hardly saw them. The place was empty practically! I won't go into ambience. The other reviews I've read describe it pretty well. I won't go into any details of the food. I think I said enough. But the service. Sometimes I say, okay, most of the the time I say that customer service is pretty much everything. In this case it was the deal-breaker. The food didn't compete with some of those "so-so semi-sit down restaurants" out there. The service brings that place down, way down. No amount of acting (the niceness) could manipulate me as a consumer to say "oh but they were nice" when we were obligated (without obvious notice and full transparency until it was too late) to pay over 20% of the total bill in gratuity, for service that was BAD. As I said at the beginning of this review, I don't like writing bad reviews. But I would be doing possible future patrons of this restaurant an injustice if I didn't share my experience. Every part of me says don't go. I won't be going back. But if you choose to go, my tip is, go at your own risk. Don't go hungry. The food will take forever. Don't expect much from the food itself. You can probably make it at home better. Don't expect them to come back to your table often so don't be thirsty because you won't get many refills, if any at all and last but not least, if you're with a party of 5 or more, expect that big gratuity whether the service was worth it or even BAD. Who doesn't want farm to table? We did. But we'll be going to other farm to table restaurants to get what is worth the time and the money from now on. read more

The real problem I have is how to categorize. Lunch: pizza/pasta/sandwiches/burger. Dinner: locally sourced, casual yet upscale, borderline fancy food. Also, at dinner service, this is definitely a WINE BAR. After all, what is this place? Problem ======= Lunch menu and dinner menu are very different. I came in for pizza and pasta, maybe a burger (you know me), but those are only served at lunch. Dinner is small menu of salads, a steak, a chicken, and a fish -- not Italian at all. At night, the menu feels a lot like Moody Rooster just around the corner. Gordon Ramsay would like their menu, small and fresh, not sure if I agree. Although, they did have ribs that sounded good, but didn't want the mess. Service ======= Graham was so nice, hospitable, inviting. He was my server, and also the bartender (at the bar) when it got busier. What did I get? I'll tell ya! ==================== Started off with a pint of the local 14 Cannons Pale Ale [$7, 4.0 stars], but not enthused with any of the meal offerings, I tried the special Chicken Pot Pie [$22, 3.5 stars] -- nicely presented but a little underwhelming for the price. Crust was buttery and good, but within and 32 forkfuls later, 4 pieces of very small and measly chicken and whole lot of gravy. Quality for sure, but not worthy at this price ($16-18, okay). With that said, the bread [$4, 5.0 stars]...oh my! I got a chunk of it (about 3 pieces) with some salted butter, and it was some of the best I've ever had (of course, makes me want the pizza, ahem, lunch only, so much more). Not running back ============== All in all, it was a nice experience, but I just can't say "I'm a fan" with a 4.0 star. I will go back for lunch, I gotta try their pizza, pasta, and a burger. First of, try the olives. Second, TRY THE OLIVES! So crazy good! The little girls(6 & 9) got the bread and pizza and they are both so good, the crust being house made. I got the nightly special lamb chops, rare, tender and perfectly cooked. RRR and son both tried the BBQ ribs which were falling off the bone tender and delicious. DIL got the salmon which she said was crisp on the outside, tender on the inside. She said it is always wonderful and she is almost exclusively vegetarian! My friend-in-law had one of the pizzas with prociutto (sp?) and said it also was amazing. The only downside is the tiny location. The tables are very close together and it's difficult to get in and out to the restroom etc. This little spot has a small menu but everything they have is perfectly cooked. I'm not sure what exactly is going on here / a real disappointment in Thousand Oaks. Let's start with the good: our server was amazing, a true class act that probably saved this from being a one star. I want to say his name was Michael? Tall guy. Anyway he was great. Now on to the bad, which is most of it: Not sure what they are doing with the ambiance/decor. Seems like they didn't want to put money into actual renovation, leaving the room with old carpets, fake plants, mismatched chairs, and a large, strange looking curtain partition in the middle of the restaurant reminiscent of a hospital operating room. Also, we were sat next to a window over looking the patio and the window was smudged and dirty, which is a red flag that makes me think the management/owner doesn't pay attention to the little details. I wish I could say the food was better than the ambiance. It was not. -The fresh bread with tomato and feta was messy and unbalanced; served with one thin, flimsy slice of bread topped with very thick tomato slices, thicker than the slice of bread itself making the dish impossible to pick up. -We also ordered a caesar salad, only to be told they were out of anchovies, and it was lacking in dressing, leaving us with a bunch of dry romaine leaves in the end. -The wine list is extremely out of balance with the food menu. Choices are way too expensive compared to the prices and quality of food and ambiance. Also they were out of the first wine we tried to order. -The pork chop was served raw first go around, but was quickly remedied, though I'm not sure why it is accompanied by un-dressed frisée, raw apple chunks, and diner-style potatoes. Who created these dishes? Not sure there is a point in continuing, this seems thorough enough, but basically the point is with all the choices of restaurants in the area that offer a great quality of food, ambiance and general vibe, I see no reason to spend your money here. First time at Decker Kitchen was lovely. It was at their precious location in Westlake Village. Although the location was super tiny the atmosphere was great! Food and cocktails were outstanding. The owner even came to our table to chat. Really top notch. Last month we went to the new location in Thousand Oaks and it was not at all the same experience. Although the space is much, much larger it was very reminiscent of a hotel lobby. Just an awkward space for a restaurant with terrible acoustics. Drinks were not great and for the price very little alcohol. I had a dirty martini that was neither dirty or much like a martini. I swear it was made with water. Food was okay; cold and not as tasty as the first time. Mac and cheese was cold. Fish was bland. I was so excited to keep a new place in the rotation for dining places, but this one has to go. read more

Mediocre. I came here for a work holiday party (9 or 10 people) and was not impressed. The ambience was really lacking the acoustics are terrible. You literally can't hear the people sitting across from you; even while the place isn't busy. (DJ wasn't even throwing down sick beats!) it was just loud....) be prepared to yell and/or tell your story 3x, so everyone can hear. We had about 3 different young people intermittently waiting our table and obviously none of them communicated with each other. (different people asking if we wanted to place drink orders, not knowing who already took our order, nothing coming out at the same time, nobody knowing who ordered what and interrupting us every few minutes to ask and drop off items, with attitude) It took over 20 mins for the first round to come out, so we switched to wine. Appetizers were the same situation...Someone took our order, two others interrupted to ask again, and then someone else came to deliver, not having everything and not knowing where anything went. Woof. Dinner was not the best. I had the ribeye. It was burnt, dry, and flavorless. (It also came out way after everyone else's meal...) curious if I just ordered poorly, I tasted some of the other meals at the table. Unfortunately, nobody had anything to write home about... (The bread and butter was the tastiest thing I had. Bummer.) I'd be willing to try this place again for lunch, but it's definitely not the move for dinner. Sorry, Decker Kitchen. :/ read more

Back at Decker and once again, Graham and team, Paul, Chef, Tom, etc, NAILED IT on our celebration visit last night. The presentation, the taste of both food and drink, were a pure delight to the taste buds. And farm to table, too; that's very important to us. Decker is great, I highly recommend. I got the pork chop, which was without question the best one I've ever had (not that I go ordering pork chops that often, but still). My wife got the chicken and really enjoyed it too. Cocktails are fine - I got an old fashioned, the wife got a manhattan. Can't complain, never really had a bad one anywhere so I'm probably not the most discerning customer for this. The decor is a bit odd - dated carpets, random stage, exposed outlets like it's still under construction. Either way, I'll be coming back here regularly! read more

I go here anywhere from once a week or once every two weeks. The craft cocktails are very exceptional and so many to choose from. The service is fantastic, they keep me updated and swing by as I eat to see if I need anything. I really like the bigger space because the tables aren't too close so you do get elbow room. I moved from the Hollywood/ Koreatown area where great restaurants are abundant. One advantage of coming here is that the prices are so reasonable, if it was LA expect to pay a lot more for the quality of food. The owner comes at times to chat with customers which makes the experience more personable. Be sure to take a loaf home if you like bread. The ribs are amazing, the meat falls right off the bone and the bbq sauce is made in house with a great flavor. The crispy chicken thighs are also my favorite, I just think they really put effort into making their food flavorful. So glad I found this place, I don't have to drive to the Valley or LA for fantastic food. read more

I just don't see what everyone else sees in this restaurant. My wife and I have always wanted to got here because we heard good things but I just didn't. I think the food what ok, just weird combination of ingredients for me. Dining room feels like you're sitting in a hotel lobby. Service was good. Everyone told us that it was like moody rooster but I would definitely disagree. Just my opinion and nothing more. read more

We arrived for our first time, and no one acknowledged for us for some time. I had to prompt several times for assistance. We finally got sat. My husband, who was already upset due to the ignored wait, ordered mushroom pizza but then was told they were out. Then they weren't and brought out the pizza and his 2nd order. He took home the entire chicken meal. My salmon was absolutely delicious. Hopefully, they can fix service issues. read more

We had high hopes about this restaurant but we were disappointed. We ordered their fresh bread to start but it came out cold and not warm. We weren't impressed with the brunch options. The prices are also very high. I'd rather go to the Four Seasons which has a view. It's his place has no ambiance and the service was horrible. We waited 45 min for our food and the waiter never came over to check on us or to let us know why our food was delayed. A manager walked around asking every table how their food was except he didn't ask us. We couldn't wait to pay and leave. read more
